Hey guys,
I live in the uk and went to Bulgaria for 16 days. I left my S3 home and took an older phone with me. Didn't want my samsung stolen, etc.
So, before I left the house I charged the phone up and left it in airplane mode.
I got back more than 2 weeks later to find the phone still on in standby mode with 48% of battery left. Meaning that it could go for about 34 days in airplane mode with one charge.
I know we can't do much with this info but I felt the need to share it.

That's awesome. My sgs2 can only make it for about a week in airplane mode, with a 2100mah extended battery.
Are you using the stock ROM? Looks like touchwiz icons from the screenshot you posted.

Cool info man. Nice to know that.

This is completely useless... But very interesting ha ha
I wonder how long would it go without airplane mode on

There is absolutely no way it could go that long with the radio on. Mine was in airplane mode.

So in order to get great battery life all we need to do is never turn the screen on and never use it as an actual phone, great find!
I bought my s3 from cex (a popular exchange chain here in UK) and when I got the phone it was at 8% charge with 34 days of standby. The phone was left on, without sim card inserted, but with WiFi on, even if wasn't connected to any network. I thought it was pretty cool as the same happened with a one x I bought two weeks before, always from cex, and in the same condition the HTC was on 8 days standby time when it discharged completely in my hand

Nice!!!
Actually there is a point to this...
I think that this is a very interesting post. Why?
Because I suspect that for most people, there are times of the week when they don't actually use the phone or even need it available to take calls but (like me) don't want to have to turn it off at night and turn it on again in the morning.
So, using a tool like Llama, you can set your phone automatically to put itself into Airplane mode at night and to reconnect in the morning - so extending your stand-by time.
(Note: I actually go further than this - and put mobile data on only 3 minutes every 30 when screen is off. And I get great battery time - or would do if I didn't use the screen so much!!)
P
Too many wake locks

Well, I have lots of apps installed. Could have last much longer after a factory wipe I guess.

ggresso are
lol, pretty impressive.
My old smartphone with data and radio off could last about a week at most.
Did a test on my phone last night. I left it off charge all night and my stats were -
Battery: 91%
Deep sleep: 82.5%
Problem is, is that I don't know if that is a good % or not. I'm new to the battery analysis game. Thanks

I don't think that's so good. When my phones screen is off, it is in deep sleep about 95% of the time. Yours at 82 seems low. Of course, the Nexus 4 is know for having battery and deep sleep problems so maybe it's normal for your phone.

Is that with sync on, or sync off? +/- disabling all the battery hogging G+/Maps, etc... sync?
Wifi, or data?
On my N4, with sync off, and a good wifi connection I'm getting ~94% deep sleep though the night.
On my GN that number was 97-98%.
Hi guys,
Is anyone else get terrible battery life with 3g and data on even on standby? I believe the phone function drains the battery and it lasts only 2 days or so on standby. I constantly have the tab on flight mode with wifi enabled and battery is much improved to about 1 week standby. Anyone else? I am on stock 4.0.4.
Thanks
Wtf r this guy even serious? I wish i had 1 day standby, what a joke

Hi Iong. We are talking about a tablet here, not a phone. Tablets should have 1 week standby at least. The battery drain with 3g and phone on is unacceptable. I think the reason is the connection to phone signal which is constant.
Mate 1 day pr 2 day standby is a lot, given the fact you install many program and it constantly connect to tinternet to check for updates notifs etx. You dont have 1 week standby whatsover, forget it. Big tablet big baterry big screen. Ot all goes scaling together

So 'l2_hsic' and 'batt_work wake lock' are the 2 processes keeping my table awake for 5 hours in total since yesterday. Any idea of what these do?
Thanks

most likely is that one or more of your apps is causing the problem. try a reset and see if the problem goes away. if it does, install apps one by and and check which one is the problem
Use juice defender ultimate in tablet mode. I can go several days idle time and lose almost no battery.

0 for me. In fact, the battery gets charged to full over night. I put it on the wireless charger by the bed right before I go to sleep.
My device sat unused for two nights and it only lost 6%.
i lost yesterday about 4% in 14 hours. do this ** settings- wifi - advanced - keep wifi on during sleep - only when plugged in ** you will see huge battery improvement. also you can use greenify app to hibernate apps that wake you tablet during sleep

Just wondering.. Is your auto sync off too?
Mine has been very good. Been unplugged for 7days 12hrs, WiFi on the whole time, couple hours of screen on time and still got 20% left. Overall I'm happy.

nope my Google location service, gps and auto sync on. but if u keep ur wifi off while screen is off auto sync will not work then when u turn ur tablet on wifi gets connected you get all the notifications. no point to get notifications on tablet while im getting those notifications on my phone. also ive noticed that the more you charge the battery it gets better
