I had a little issue when installing an app and now when I try to reinstall it i get an error right away starting that it can't instal and to check free space.
This is on my GTab 7510 running ICS.
Free space on the device is around 5gb and i can install other apps either manually or through the market. Is there any place i can check to see if the are any pieces of the app that need to be removed manually?

I see that the directions say that no Wipe is required. My question is, if applied on top of 3.2.0.0, will you then need to set everything up again (reinstall apps, settings, etc.) or will they still be in place?
Thanks.
I assume you mean 3.3.0.1. and everything will be just as you left it. Just wipe cache and dalvik, flash the rom, and youll be good to go. Do a nand backup just in case though.
Er, yes - 3.3.0.1 - thanks a lot for the info!
Fresh is the best ROM out there period.
get titanium backup, it will make it fairly painless. It will restore evertying except for widgets. The free version works but u cant do a restore/backup all. They require use to buy it for that feature. Otherwise you will need to do each item one at a time. And for the amount of work that would take it would just be easier to install everything manually.
whenever I try to upgrade my fresh 3.2 to 3.3 it always fails. I've tried using RA recovery as well as clockworkmod and still no dice. even tried wiping everything andf doing a fresh (haha) install.
any advice? I really only want to upgrade so I can get my fps uncapped.
have you tried to re-download the rom? Maybe you have a bad zip ?
Smack! I never even thought of redownloading. Thanks I'll try that asap.

Downloading the zip again worked!

Hi there!
Today I noticed there were some new widgets and updates. I started to download them on Wifi in my home.
And then I gotta leave my home. When I left Wifi connection disconnected and updates stopped. After few hours my battery depleted so my phone shut down.
When I come to home I charged it and turned Wifi on. When I looked on get HTC widgets tab There was "Installing" labels next to some of the widgets but they weren't installing actually.
I waited for 15mins -enough time to install Win7 on my phone - but they didnt got installed. I got into manage apps. on settings and uninstalled all the HTC widgets. Restarted the phone three times. Nothing changed.
Any advices?
I decided to recovery but have some questions about recovery.
Will it roll the rom back to 2.1?
What will it erase? Apps, contacts, messages? What kind of settings will it reset? Ringtones, home layout and wallpapers?
Regards.

Try clearing Dalvik Cache and also Format Cache in Clockworkmod. What do you mean by recovery? Nandroid? It is a 1:1 backup of whenever you made it. Or factory reset? Regardless, yes you will loose sms and contacts and etc so backup with HTC sync first.

Edit: And uh, what abput apps? will they erased?
Update: I was trying to Clear Dalvik via adb but it says: rm failed for -rf, Read-Only file system . What should I do?
Update2: I figured something and cleared Dalvik Cache but nonhing changed.
Update3: Performed a factory reset and solved thanks again jonusc for your attention
Hi
I just flashed my phone with coredroid 8. I wanted to get rid off all the aps and make it virtually new as I bought this from a previous owner and it had their data on it.
But all the apps remain? Why?

Did you just flashed the ROM on top of the other one or you've done a full format?
Hi I did wipe clean and cache in cwm. It installed fresh however all apps are there.
Shall I format my SD card and flash again?

Hmmm that's really odd, can you try following these steps on how to install your ROM clean, just find it there in the post

Thanks to memnoc
Hi what ROM do you use? I am using coredroid 8 but waiting for 7.6..
Need to know how to do a clean install. Radio is flashed fine.
Can you please copy and paste instructions here thank you.

Did you factory reset/reset data, and system? Wiping your SD card won't get rid of apps.
1. format system
2. format data
3. format cache
4. wipe dalvik cache
5. wipe cache partition
6. wipe data/factory reset
7. DON'T REBOOT flash rom
8. reboot and wait (first boot may take long)
If you do it like this you will have a 100% clean system. After setup your Gmail account all your apps should get restored by Android Market (may take a couple of minutes). If you don't want your apps to be restored open the market go to "my apps" and cancel the download.

Okay great. The apps came back because of my gmail account.
Erm, can I format my SD card or will that mess up my rooting, clock work recovery and ROM manager etc?
There's alot of junk left from previous user. Id like to have a complete clean start.

Sure you can but make a backup of your card before you do it. Maybe you need your fotos, music aso.
There is no problem with root or recovery because its on the phone not on the card.

What's going on guys? I've had my Play for a while and for the most part I love it...def could be faster but thats ok.
So, the problem. I'm rooted, but stock rom and kernel. I was using go launcher, go sms and have alot of apps, a 32gb sd card thats almost full. I installed go locker a couple nights ago and it was running great. Then, the next day, I have no clue if it relates to go locker...but now my phone is like on life support or something!
75% of apps force close upon opening, the phone is deathly slow if it doesnt close...like I'll open up "settings" and it will either FC or take 2 minutes to load up...then it loads and I click something and it FCs. SOMETIMES an app will open fine, play fine. Like muffin knight, sometimes it opens and plays 100%. other times it instantly FCs over and over. Every single app no matter how complex is subject to the same problems in the same way.
I honestly have no clue wtf is wrong. It feels analgous to a computer virus. Everything is bogged and broken. I tried cleaning my phone. I uninstalled every launcher and theme app, and then uninstalled about a dozen apps I dont use alot. I left mself with the bare minumum....Id then open the "messaging" app and it would crawl open to greet me with a force close. It doesnt seem to be a problem with any specific app.
I checked battery use....very normal stuff. I don't know whats going on!! but my phone barely works....someone will call and it will take 10 seconds for me to be able to slide the slider and accept the call...
Anyone have any direction for me? I don't want to flash any kernels or roms yet (waiting for 100% stability) and I'm busy right now w tests and I just want my phone back to how it was a few days ago. I'm using adw launcher now and its the same as with the go launcher or without anything....slow, force closes everywhere, hang ups everywhere...
thanks SO much for any help from anybody...I really appreciate it.
What device are you running? R800x? R800i?
Is your bootloader unlocked? What firmware/android version are you on?

r800x, unlocked bootloader through hardfix with Alejandrissimo....and most current Verizon firmware so 2.3.4 (right?)
since I rooted it I haven't messed it with it much, just took the liberty of using apps like root explorer and stuff

If you have CWR installed I'd try to wipe the cache and dalvik cache. I've had weird things like that happen and wiping them fixes it.

I don't think I do....I'm really noob when it comes to the in depth rooting stuff but I don't even think I have a nandroid backup...
I can boot to that orange screen and I did save my state when I initially rooted...
How do I clear the caches for that stuff? Davlik, can that be done thru titanium backup?
and what about the other cache? How do I see if I have clockword recovery? (I never intentionally installed it so I don't think I have it?)
Okay so I wiped the davlik cache (like 24mb) thru titanium backup....and then I reinstalled the market (one of the more troublesome apps to open)...and then rebooted.
Tried opening a few apps in succession upon boot, and for the first time ever the phone froze and rebooted itself!
What the hell is going on?? Lol my phone was fine a few days ago and now its just insufferable!!
Any more ideas as to whats going on?
I never dled clockwork mod so I don't think I can wipe that cache?
Deleting dalvik-cache via Titanium Backup only deletes "unneeded" caches. You need to delete every dalvik-cache by going into data/dalvik-cache and deleting every file in it. Then reboot, which will rebuild the caches (first boot will take a while)

I deleted every file in the davlik cache folder...rebooted.
No change. Takes 10 seconds to open the phone...everything is slow/force closing.
Sigh. My phone is possessed and/or dying.
Then I suggest backing up your user-apps (if still possible) and doing a factory reset
Do a nandroid backup, then factory reset. Then install apps one by one testing for stability after each. If an app is causing problems that will identify it. Or provide us with a list of your apps and we could help determine if one of them may be the culprit.

Wouldn't factory reset erase my root? Or no?
I paid for that root haha that would be disappointing

I assume you paid to unlock the bootloader (reset does nothing to this). Root is much more easily obtained
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312859
It won't. factory rest doesn't wrote the system partition where root is located.
Factory reset.
Please dont be scared of losing root, just use the search bar and type in doomlord zergrush. His script has to be the easiest most automated way to get root on any xeria firmware ever

Just want to thank you guys alot. I backed up everything i cared about in Titanium and did a factory reset...everythings running 100% now and I have all my apps back in place...
I really appreciate the help
Ive always ran the fix permissions option in recovery on my s2 after reflashing and to cure minor issues, but I notice Philz recovery no longer has this option and I believe the latest cwm is the same.
Ive ran fix permissions from ROM Manager but after rebooting I then lose 5-6 apps from the phone and start getting 'insufficient storage' errors. Ive covered this in another thread so wont go over old ground. But does this mean that fixing permissions now serves no functionality if not in recovery ? Will clearing dalvik and cache suffice ?

1. Questions shall be placed in Q&A thread, not in General;
2. "but does that mean..." - you already replied to that, didn't you? Or do you want to have the "functionality" of apps disappearing and errors in CWM?
3. What for would you like to clean cache and Dalvik? If your apps are not surviving flashing (typical between major versions), you shall make phone wipe. If the apps are surviving - what's the problem?
