Htc Magic Vodafone - How to Root ???

i buy a Htc Magic Vodafone phone and i want to root it, and i don't now how
my phone have this details - saphire pvt 32b , radio 2.22.19.26l, firmware 1.6
second problem is i have CyanogenMod 4.1 and i find a new update 4.2.1 and is not working to update it, maybe because my phone is not rooted?

i can't download files i need (i need another mirror for files) and i want to use Method 2 but i have some question: how i boot the device in fastboot mode and where i Type the following command on my desktop?

i hva the same problem. But i have installed a lot of ROMs and nothing works for me. i have now hero rom and all is soo laggy . I really messed up my phone.
Is there any way so bring my phone to htc magic 1.6 OFFICIAL ? factory reset doesnt work .

Its for 32A only ofc cause HTC provides Updates for HTC branded devices only ..

i need a solution for my question from top of threat : how i make to install Cyanogen 4.2.1 on my htc magic vodafone 32b 1.6 version ? (now i have cyanogen 4.1 version installed) and second i need a step by step solution to root my phone pls

You will have to read the wiki and then go to General or Q and A sections when you get stuck.
There is no simple or short answer.

It's my understanding that you must first downgrade to firmware 1.5 to root. Maybe that's just for the so called "one click" root process??...

root via my software its straight forward my friend even idiots can do it

HTC hero 2.73.720.5 RUU

Guys,
I need the official HTC hero 2.73.720.5 RUU. Its an Indian version. My hero shipped with this rom.
My hero lately not responding to touches; the bottom part where we have the Menu dialer and add symbol does not respond to touches and all other part of the screen works. Have tried various roms but nothing happens.
Need the official rom so that i can give back my mobile to HTC for repairing.

digitizer surely malfunction. You need to replace it. I did change it by myself before. If you cannot find that rom version then flash them with other official rom and pass back to your carrier. Usually carrier will send the phone to authorized repair agent to fix. They only require proof of purchase which match serial number or IMEI number of the phone.

yeah i am basically from India but currently living in China & i bought Hero from China ..
Instant.apk file didn't work for me to root it .. so i install Titanium back up & i show option (problems) i click on that & it download busybox for me ... & i was able to install any root apps from the market ..
later i flash brother Amon_RA Recovery using old flashrec-1.1.2.apk because new flashrec didn't work for me .. emm Hope that helps ..

im still on 1.5 how the heck do i get to 2.1 ? i don't have the option to update software and the udates on the htc site are older than what i have? confused

i dont think its possible.
i mean if it was, people would have mentioned it, with threads dedicated to updating to 2.1

i hear the search tool finds even more, who knows

Change your date to about a month forward and you should see the update (if your provider has released it).
O wait you're on a generic rom. Maybe change the rom to an official from your provider and then wait for the update.

sorry my poor English
choice 1: download offical update of 2.1 from pc and install it directly
choice 2:hack your device,but a little complex make gold card(gold card is a special tf card which have some codes and program that could approve you to flash any custome rom ) how to make gold card you could look up some information,I have some chinese information,but I think it's so difficult for you to read them.
If you have root,it's more easy,download rom,press home+ power to get into Recovery ,use recovery to backup your original rom,then wipe all ,and then flash your new rom,reboot system.
some device will notify you to update rom,but official rom i think it will forbbiden you root your device,it's not convenient. using the modified edition is recommended.

I used the Goldcard method my my 3 UK Hero then loaded the official 2.1 ROM downloaded from the HTC website. Very simple to do, as said you can also have a look for Universal Androot and go down the root path.

wow cant imagine the dif cant decribe it but now i need to know everything about the magic.
i have the black ediotn of the htc magic here is insrael with 1.5 android version.
i want to know if i upgrade to 2.1 or other radio +rom everything will work ?
i have a friend that tryed to upgrade and ruind his mother board in the phone dont know how
so if i upgrade its 100% save?
and will be usfull if some 1 will give me a link for how to upgrade + usfull roms +radio
and maybe some video on youtube or someting

I can speak only for myself, but what I'm telling now i think is 99% accepted.
However I can not take any responsibility for your actions.
1. Usually it's safe to try any custom ROM with will NOT put your security on ON.
2. I only had problems with Rogers stock ROM which did not flashed correctly even if it said it did.
3. If you have S-OFF, you can recover your phone most of the cases if it boots into fastboot.
4. However, if you get S-ON, you can recover your phone with goldcard if you have a higher version of the ROM (I don't recommend you to get there)
5. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THE HBOOT - RADIO PAIR YOU FLASH. IT CAN GIVE YOU SERIOUS HEADACHES. Search which pairs are compatible
6. READ CAREFULLY, BUT CAREFULLY EVERY TUTORIAL BEFORE STARTING TO DO ANYTHING
7. AH. DON'T EVER BE IN A HURRY WHEN FLASHING CUSTOM ROMS AND BE SURE YOUR PHONE IS FULLY CHARGED
8. The rest is history and, as always, GOOGLE is your friend

[Q] WildFire NAND flash error

Hi! I want to instal on my wildfire Sandra custom ROM. I had 2.2 software, but i downgrade it and now i have a 2.1 Update –1 1.37.405.1 . I used newest version Unrevoked program to ropy and flash discovery. All works ok, but on the end of installation i have text ""internal error: failed to unlock NAND flash?"" i ty to search anawet to my problem, but i dont find it. I use Windows 7 32nite, have installed modified drivers. I think you can help me... I wait for answer.

Did you read the Forums?
You Updated to 2.2 (Froyo) so you got HBoot 1.*.
You CANT Root your WF coz You CANT downgrade your HBoot.
There are abot 100 Topics about the Froyo Root.
You downgraded to 2.1... Eclair i think. But... your HBOOT is still 1.*.
You just downgraded your Firmware, not your Bootloader.
Switch off your Phone. Press the Volume down Button and hold it. Press the Power Button and you will see that have a 1.* HBoot.
We have to wait for a new unrEVOked to get the WF Handys with HBoot 1.* rooted.
Or ask in the right Topic some1 to "s-off" your Wildfire with the XTC Clip.
When will the new unrEVOked release? -> dunno
How to downgrad HBoot 1.*? -> atm no way
XTC Clip / s-off? -> its a (expensive) Programmer Hardware that disables your NANDlock
Why is the new HBoot locked? -> dunno, i just know that is frustrating that we paid for a Phone an we CANT use it like we want!

I bought an xtc clip so i dont have to depend on people try to hack the new hboot. Its not so expensive, i will unlock some htc mobiles for to reduce my costs. I see many people who dont read forums.......maybe if you dont know what you....dont do anything with your phone except whats made for. I bought my wildf because its a cheap and good mobile so dont complain about the new hboot.....even with froyo its still a good value for money mobile.
If you want to make a hobby of it and want to try other roms.....buy an xtc clip and you are free.

failed to unlock nand flash
Dude , I have This Problem After Downgrade to 2.1 , unrevoked says : failed to unlock nand flash ?!

Thats because unrevoked doesn't work with HBOOT 1.01. Try AlpharevX instead.
