I've been trying for ages to get a case in Canada for my a500 with no luck (ordered 2 online which never turned up)
Anyway, I noticed today that staples had one in for the a200 which looked similar in size etc.
Would it fit and if so would I have to mod it for camera or anything
Cheers
Why don't you take your A500 down to Staples and see if it fits?
Its not that close to where i live but will do that tomorrow but thought someone on here would know for sure.
Thanks
OK, good luck with that. Let us know how you get on, if it does fit it might be the answer for others. Provided it's better than the stock Acer A500 case which most would agree is crap and of course depends on the price.

The a200 doesn't have a rear camera.. So in order to use the a200 case for your a500, and you have to cut out the opening for your a500 camera.
Sent from my A500 using Tapatalk
Are you unable to order stuff from amazon in Canada? There are tons of options on there, for pretty cheap. The CaseCrown cases are a good value.
My A200 fits perfectly in my A500 leather case. It has the plastic clips on the edges. So the A200 and A500 are exactly same size in width, height and thickness.
Note that the ports are in a different location. The A200 case will definatly cover up the camera and may block the USB ports too. (My A500 case blocks the standard USB ports on the A200.)
If you're not ready for some modifications, it's best to find a real A500 case.
I have one. The a200 case port holes are in different locations and one side of the case overlaps the screen. It's not perfect but it works for a case. But to use it, you have to remove it.

Hi All.
Thanks for a great forum!
I was fortunate enough to recieve my Pearl White SGS3 in the beginning of the month, I know others here in Denmark are still waiting...
I love this mobile, and have tuned it quite a bit already - root, cwm, new kernel to improve battery times, etc.... really one of the best Android devices I've ever had...
I further have ordered the OtterBox defender case for my SGS3, but won't get it untill next week I'm told...
Anyway, to get to the point of the topic:
I have thus (in the meanwhile) been using a cheap cover (China make I think) - leather like outside and with a nylon type 'pull-out' strap (see pictures)
After using this cover for about 2 1/2 weeks (from the first day I got the mobile) I noticed a discoloring of the back cover. Front is fine - no problem...
Backcover really looks bad now, I'm sure I will get a replacement, but I was just wanting to share my experience, and warn that there may be a serious fault in the way the back cover is 'painted'/produced - all the more reason I now see why the SGS3 blue version may have been delayed - due to similar issue with the blue backcover. Maybe the blue backcover is fixed, not to cause any problems...
So a word of advice - make sure you invest in a good case - if you want to try to avoid having to replace the original white SGS3 backcover, and then again, just be aware of a possible 'wear-and-tear' problem.
Also, I'm just wondering if others have experienced similar discoloration/tainting issues.
Still waiting for my OtterBox to arrive, I actually went out and purchased a screen protector and silicone case, in black - just as the OtterBox I have ordered...
I think the pearl white SGS3 and a black cover will look great!

Ok, **** hapen
I forgot my tf101 on my car roof before going on..
So all my fault, now my tf 101 is dead, it has been passed over by a car at least before i was able to retrieve my tf101..
The tablet is still working fine, i just can,t see anything, because the screen is only showing line of color. Nothing readable.
So when using it with hdmi, everything is ok. I just have to figure out where to tap.
I will reset everything on it and might try to sell it for part.
I also have the docking keyboard which is not broken. It was at home when my misadventure hapened.
So i have make the jump on the tf300.
So far it is working great. With the exception being that the vpn l2tp shared key is also not working on the tf300. I,m still waiting for that.
Dock?
can i hvae your dock too your tf101? i live in canada in london and i can not find it any where...gah
So you're glass isn't broken? the only obvious issue is the lcd doesn't display anything? Personally I would take it apart and check for broken or disconnected wire.
You could always hook it up through hdmi and have yourself a little media player for your TV.

Bummer man. :crying:
I left mine on the hood of my Jeep when I went to take the trash out one morning, thanks to the silicon case it stayed put until I hit about 40 MPH, then it went airborne over the roof of the car. I managed to stop and pick it up before anyone ran it over though, the case took the brunt of the impact. The screen stayed intact, the only damage was one or two of the tabs that hold the back cover on broke so it protrudes from the corner now.

Have you guys ever seen that review where they did a drop test of the iphone and some other android phone.. I can't remember, but it's good to know that my transformer can survive a drop from a 40MPH moving car and survive..

I nearly crapped myself, I love my TF. I was heartbroken thinking that it was dead as I ran back up the road to get it. I expected the screen to be destroyed, no joke it flew over the roof of my Jeep at 40mph and it was fine. That Gorilla Glass is no freaking joke.
Just hope you guys make your kids wear crash helmets when your out on the road......just incase youve forgot to put them in the car hehe

Hey guys so I just picked up my new tf300t last week and loving it. However on the bottom right edge of the bezel the back part seems to have play like a small amount of movement where if you squeeze it creaks, it has been like this from day one out of the box and am wondering if I should return it. I knew tablet quality is often lacking due to design but does anyone else experience this?

Yes, this is normal. I wouldn't bother returning it. The slight play and creaking is just a consequence of the material used for the back of the tablet. Unless it really affects how the tablet functions or its really worrying you I don't think there is anything wrong with a slight creak.
Ok. I have noticed a thread on here on removing the back cover. I'm not sure what kind of clips or tabs will be used to secure the back but perhaps if I removed it and put it back I could fix it. Any recommendations.?

Up to you. Is it actually affecting the performance and usability of the tablet at all, or does the creak just make you feel uncomfortable? I would be tempted to leave it alone and get used to it because if you remove the back you could end up doing more damage, or cracking the screen, plus it will likely void your warranty.
I do not know the severity of the creaks, but if it is really bad, and makes you feel uncomfortable using the tablet I would recommend exchanging it with a new one. Mine creaks when I press it, but only very slightly and I hardly notice it.
Ok. I'm begining to feel that this device simply doesn't love me at all.
I got my first N7. The next day, I was walking (my N7 was in my bag)and the leash of my bag was cut (for unknow reasons). Bag goes down, N7 screen cracks. I had no case for it...
Same day, I'm buying a new one since I couldn't find any spare parts at this time. With my new N7 I bought an HTC-Flyer Case since it was the only one which could fit the N7. (No N7 cases available in Greece yet...). I thought I could wait until spare parts become available, fix the first one and sell it.
1 week after I bought the second N7, I was holding 10 cm above a table. I repeat, 10, maybe 15 centimeters, above a table and I w Sas reading an e-book. Suddenly, my, second, N7 slips from my hands, drops on the table with the lower left corner and the screen broke more than the first one.
Ok. Now I get it, This thing is very sensitive. F*ck you Asus for doing it like that because I've dropped my TF101 a few times and still working like a charm.
The thing, now, is that I can't find any spare parts and I'll not buy a third N7.
Does anyone know where can I find spare screen to repair them? I've found this site but it's always out of stock.
Please guys, I am begging for your help!
Thanks in advance.

You blame Asus?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Yep... ASUS is supposed to be there to catch the device when it falls.
Most devices break when you drop them without a decent case. Nothing new there.
Don't drop your stuff?
Of course I am not blaming Asus. I was the one who dropped the device (at least the second time) I am the one to blame.
What I wrote about Asus is just for making me feel a little better and not that I crash every N7 I get my hands on. Nothing more. Maybe it was a mistake to write that about them. I apologize if I must.
Any chance, now, you know where I can take a spare screen?

To drop one N7 is careless, to drop two N7s marks you out as clumsy and, yes, you are blaming Asus for your clutziness.
Worse, you are trying to crowd source information you could easily source yourself.
In this post from you we see Greece and why it has an ex-economy
Hey, come to think of it .. where did you get the Drachma for two N7s ?:laugh:
I do sympathize since I have two iPads which are used mainly by two kids of 3 and 2 years of age. As you can imagine, they've dropped them from various angles and heights (one even took a tumble down a whole flight of stairs.
Neither of them have a scratch on them. They were protected by a silicone/tpu case from day one.

I've searched a lot around the Internet and I couldn't find anything. That's why I asked here. Obviously a big mistake...
Second I wish we had drachma again, but that's an other conversation which I am not willing to do here.
I know I'm clumsy. But N7 is the first device so sensitive to my clumsiness. Looks like I'm not built for this device...
Thanks again.

The screen is basically all one unit, so you can't just get the glass. It looks to be easy to replace however. I would imagine there will be parts available soon from other parties like other devices as well as replacement batteries etc...
Probably a little soon still.
There are of course official sources for parts, but I don't know if ASUS is making them available (not had an ASUS device before).
Google search turned up:

If you're accident prone and you don't plan to get a case for it perhaps consider this variation:

Yeah, those kinds of cases aren't really the best to protect from fall damage
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
There were other reports by people claiming the screen itself is easier to damage. I think I recall someone saying they had their screen split just from normal usage...
In any case, I dropped my SGT7 from a few feet onto a carpet, and nothing happened. I haven't had my N7 fall any distance yet, and I played games like osu!droid, which causes me to press pretty rapidly and hard on the screen, and nothing happened to it (yet), so idk...
In any case, it's safe to say dropping your Nexus 7, or most devices for that matter can cause some pretty bad physical damage

Hello All,
If you recently received a new RMA and have cracks, please report it here. If this still persists, it's something that we should bring attention to Nvidia folks.
I have already sent in for a 2nd RMA. I'm hoping the next unit is good, but I'm not holding my breath.
Just got my new one, nothing yet.

I got my today. I got all 4 corners cracked. For now I will leave it as it is. I just hope that those cracks wont open up the case.
I think people are mistaking the normal and expected straight seams/molding marks. The device Will have 4 straight lines on each corner, that is normal and expected.
It's pretty easy to tell the seam from a crack
+1 I have had my new LTE replacement model for over 2 weeks and no cracks yet. The seams at each corner are much more defined than my previous WiFi model. I hope people are just mistaking these for cracks, although I've seen enough complaints that its probably a real issue still.
No cracks yet. Bought it from Nvidia. I use this thing like a boss!

The problem is solved?
If I buy now the shield is exempt from the problem?
thx
My replacement has no cracks. To me the crack thing was overblown. Mine had a major wifi issue where it wouldn't turn on. The new one does not have this issue.

Not to sound ignorant, but I just got my tablet a few days ago. I've read about the WiFi and cracked edges issues but decided to take a chance for the specs/price point. I'm very happy with the tablet but don't actually know what kind of cracks to be on the lookout for. Are these on the glass? Or the trim? Along the front speaker grilles or the sides? I see the 4 straight seems as mentioned before... Are those cracking open? Just wanting to know what to watch out for.
