font installer: how to roll back? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Been reading up on font installer and apparently many users are having issues if they want to revert.
Has anyone tested it on their 7.7 and confirm you can back out properly or not? If so is there anything special you need to do?

Titanium Backup on XXJPU working on solution with dev

Hi
As older backups don't restore correctly on xxjpu i'm in contact with the dev of Titanium Backup since a few days.
We are really close to the solution, but i'm currently testing his beta builds.
I think next market release should fix the problem.
I'll let you know on any progress.

Yep.. Already contacted Joel with my fix.. He is working on it
I have JPU rom and titanium backup is working.
@kalpik: told him also about your fix, but betas didn't work so i had to test and send him logcats. in the latest release at least /dbdata/databases/.../shared_prefs is restored correctly, but the permissions are not set correctly. so as soon as Joel fixes everything should work.
@Ilija.Ilija: TB works, but on some apps data isn't restored to the right folder:
restoring older backups on xxjpu that store setting in /dbdata/databases/.../shared_prefs are not restored correctly
The only thing I'm thinking about is that is it even worth to fix it right now? JPU is most definitely an experimental build, and Samsung might just go back to the previous arrangement of data on a newer ROM! Its just wasted work then
If they really go back, then it is wasted time.
But if they do not, we have already a solution for people coming from roms before jpu.

One request: If it's not too much trouble, could you also CC me in your emails to Joel? That way I might be able to contribute if I see something I can help with

Maybe the better solution for now is too keep both way in TB for a while...

thanks guys for the effort to keep tb compatible.
it'll be a waste if samsung goes back to the old firmwares though. jpu is working mighty well using rfs compared to the earlier stuff. so much so, there's hardly any need to use ext4 lagfix unless you really want to squeeze performance to the last drop.

@kalpik: I don't know if there is any need to write him again, but if i have to, i'll put you in CC.
The test on the latest beta was successful! As this is maybe only a temporary version for xxjpu he will release it on his hompage and not publishe it on the market. Once we know that samsung keeps this strcuture in future firmwars Joel will publish it also on the market. I'll let you know once the jpu version is up.

PS : Does this do batch restore without user interruption?
Kalpik, you should make a thread in themes & apps section with this.
Note: it will still *NOT* be able to restore backups made on JPU ROM to another ROM.

Miui.us 1.10.28 Greek ROM

Im not responsible for any damage you may cause to your phone, use it at your own risk.
I have modded the latest version of Miui.us rom and i have been able to add Greek Locale! So guys its in Greek Language now
Credits for the rom goes to Stockwell (Thank you for your work)
Credits for the translation pack goes to Finn.(Thanks for the translation)
Credits for the idea goes to member Tranos. (Thanks for the idea)
Notes:
-Wipe cache and dalvik cache.
-Choose zip to install from SD
Any questions are welcome, just say thanks
Download here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=555O7C3D
Thanks! It works perfect. I want to add: Credits to TRANOS for his great idea!
Shall we expect a weekly greek version update by you from now on?
EDIT:The updater.apk is in Chinese (i think) but the error must be from the desire-zip and not from your changes...
Great job jasonak0s !! Thanks for it! I don't know how hard it is but couldn't the language be implemented on all future releases? Like giving stockwell the xml file before pushing it to miui.us.
Great job anyway and if u can keep it up with future releases it would be even better!
Else a guide on how to do it might help others continue
I will continue implementing the greek language for the future releases. Spirosbond i did notice that tools is in Chinese Language, you can either rename the folder or i can upload a fix. I will try to upload a fix today. The bad news is that you have to flash all the rom again to fix it, i must find a way bypassing this. Thank you guys for your appreciation
Hm...
Done it three times, it keeps restarting on start up (globe banner).
ps. cwm 5.0.2.6
EDIT
Wiped data - now works
I couldnt recover with 5.0.2.6.. always there was an error
used the old one with the orange letters it's fine now
but after flashing this rom i have a huge battery drain 50% in 5 hours ..
Everything was ok with eng miui...maybe a bug in translation ?
anyone has the same problem ?
fsnelis , i've used my phone in about 6 hours and the battery is at 81% with phone calls, wifi and a little GPS.. So i think there is something wrong about the way you flashed it. When i flashed it i wiped data/cache and dalvnik cashe so i don't know, try to do the same procedure i did.
If we are already in miui rom but in english version, i have to
-Wipe cache and dalvik cache???
Cause when i upgrade on newer version of miui i just flash it without wipe...
Nevertheless, thank you for ur time and now we have greek language in our favourite rom!

yes zaf_4 i pretty sure that if you don't wipe both cache you will have problems with stability and force closes....
One suggestion, jasonakos. You can post the updates to MIUI forum, at the MIUI translasions topic here, because there is great activity there also. Thanks again for your work!

any solutions? or i have to flash it again?
Is someone else have the same or different problems?
thanks in advance
p.s.: i flashed it again... for now...no probs. Maybe the problem was cause i installed the newest version of market... who knows.
thanks again for your good work.
zaf_4 Since i've been using this rom for a couple of days i haven't seen any force close or any problems with receiving sms's.. So my advice is that you first wipe everything and then flash the rom from the start.
Congratulations you are God!!!!
Thanks for that.
I personally dont really care about the greek translation i only care to have an option to use greek keyboard with greek support on stock keyboard is that any easy way to have this in all future miui updates?
A small guide or the files needed for that so we can make it ourselfs? each time new update comes?

no no conflicts with the app..
it is caused by the superuser (root) ap in tools.. all apps that need sms.. for example handcent or myWhatsup ETC restar tthe phone when they send smses..
i think (but i am not sure) you have to tweak something in superuser permisions.. allow or disallow something like that..
sorry but i am not sure which one exactly
Per requests i updated the topic with the procedure on how to translate it by your self.
My regards, Paul
Is there a way to install lattitude and google maps in this rom????
Can t find the way... and i need them both
And a second question
How can yoy have a bar with greek characters (not english) to scroll down on the name we want???
I have 800+ contacts inside...
I istalled Rockket dialer but it had a lot of conflicts with the mui rom and coundt run it.
Is there another option????

ICS update success but no Ring interface!?

It is disappointing to see that there was no ring interface after the ICS update. Mainly I was eager to see the Ring interface but nothing.
Is this something we can install separately? or does anyone know the Cyanogenmod or AOKP mod versions has this in their tailor made ROM? If so I will be happy to flash this official ROM and loose it.

Hi Thanks for the link - but need to ask you a few more questions.
Since you say 'if my tablet is rooted..' after I had mentioned that I did the official upgrade my question is - even after rooting are these official updates possible?
Second question is, how do I root my tablet? please point me to a link where I can learn more on this.

Root method
If you go here it will give you all the info you need to get full root. I used it on the new update and it works.
Just take the time to read the instructions fully.

Don't want to give you false hope, but just installing that apk won't make the ring work. There is more to it then that.
That is why there are custom roms with the ring.
Never mind I see why I have the ring, John isntalled the internal Acer build with the Office ring that is dual layers with communication hub.
Personally it's an annoying feature I enjoy NOT having.

[Q] A question regarding 4.2.2 upgrade and native dialer

I have enabled native dialer by modifying framework-res.apk in my Nexus 7 3G with JB 4.2.1.
Now my question is, will the native dialer stay if i upgrade to 4.2.2? Did anybody try? Pls share. Thanks a lot.
Are you on a custom ROM?
No, I simply downloaded a dialer-enabled framework-res in this forum and replaced the original one.
btw, is there any place to download dialer-enabled 4.2.2 framework? I had trouble doing this myself
thanks in advance!
Can you post up your framework-res? I will make the small edit for you. As I understand it, it is just a bool edit "<bool name="config_voice_capable">false</bool>", where you change false to true.

Hi hlxanthus,
Attached is the framework-res.apk from 4.2.2. Really appreciate if you can help!
Thank you!
Here are some flashable packages, that will work for you within twrp or cwm recoveries. If you would rather you can just crack them open to pull the apk out. One has the one I modded and the other is the original you posted up. Please know that this will ONLY work with the rom you pulled the framework-res from. So if this is a stock apk, then that is all you can use this with.
Please note, that while this should give you access to the dialer, it will not magically enable phone calls on your device (that I know of atleast, let me know if I am wrong LOL). You will still have to use a VoIP service like GrooveIP for example to route said phone calls thru your wifi and 3G radios.

I clicked the system update button and reboot....
But it didn't update successfully and stopped in the middle of the upgrade.
I was asked to reboot and I am still in 4.2.1.
Any idea why? The whole process took only a minute or so.
Is it because mine was rooted?

Might be. Other modifications have you made? You might need to flash a stock recovery back in place at the very least.

Hi all!
I would be very happy if you all could share your ideas and knowledge with me regarding
List of things to do after buying a new Android Tablet
I am expecting my GT-N8000 next week and I want to start on the right footing with my new device.
It could be a list of do this and do that....step by step in order of precedence.
ex:
1. Disable UAC on Windows
2. Install Samsung Kies software on PC
3. Backup current/original Bootloader and save it on your PC for fallback purposes
4. Backup current/original ROM and save it on your PC for fallback purposes
5. Copy CWM or whatever...on your SD Card.
