Its not hard at all . Just download it and put the folder in the root of your harddrive .
I'm just having problems with the Samsung drivers and wondering if I have to flash back to stock before I can install drivers.

Yeah, just download it... It's less than 30MB. Make your instal path as short as possible. Try adb devices to test if you have it set up right and it sees your phone.
When in download mode the computer says it dosnt recongize my usb.

did you install all the right drivers? make sure you have the galaxy s drivers completely unzipped go into device manager and make sure there arent any alerts) if somethings not installed properly click update driver and set the path to where the galaxy drivers were unzipped
Well I'm confused because I went to the samsung website and from there I downloaded the samsung moment driver set. And that didn't work . So I got the 64. bit file and that failed as well

how did you install? just try running the files in the zip? or what
the only way i got it to work was unrared the files into a folder, and plugged in my phone in usb debug mode and went to device manager and manually had each thing search for drivers in the new folder, after i installed one thing another popped up with a ? next to it and did that a few times till everything worked.
sorry im kind of new at this android thing but ive spent entirely too much time on computers
Is there a perm. root method that doesn't involve using HTC Sync?
I'm rooted and have yet to install the HTC sync software...just follow the directions in one of the two rooting threads.
I had to install sync to get the drivers but if you already have them installed you're good

Yep same here. I couldn't find stand alone drivers at the time. HTC didn't have them listed and my Windows XP computer couldn't install drivers for my phone.

Or you could have posed it in the correct section to begin with
that being the Q&A
So, I have 2.3 via the store and am considering going back to 2.2 so I can root and use a different ROM. The problem and my reason for posting is I cannot get sdk to install properly. I run it and it tries to update everything but fails and won't allow me to connect to my phone. Now do I need temproot before this will work or am I not installing it correctly? I have read a bunch of tutorials but haven't seen this issue come up. All help is appreciated.

have you tried installing just the ADB drivers? TrueBlue_drew has a great walk though. Link in my signature.
Can't see it from my phone but I will check it out when I get home. Thanks for the help and I'll keep you posted...

Windows requires administration privileges to download and install things on the SDK. Try right-clicking on the icon and selecting Run as Administrator.
OK, couldn't get it rolled back (lady was retarded on the phone) so what do I do now? I ran as admin and it looked for updates and such but found no virtual drives. Will anyone be willing to walk me through this over the phone?
OK! Got adb working now. How do I roll back? LOL I will be searching but in the meantime if you wanna add something, I would appreciate it.
