Samsung.. a BIG let down - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

so i got my 7.7 32gb wifi a week ago and the wifi and all was working fine first few days... then it suddenly just stopped connecting, just loops in scanning forever and never connects, despite the full bars. I've played around with just about all you can with regards to my router, channel settings etc and it wont budge. I also factory reset and whatnot, the wifi took it's last breath a few days ago when i hadn't touched the tab in a day, then dropped out once again within only 20minutes of connecting, I was convinced it had a faulty wifi chip. So 2 days ago I had it replaced with a new one and even then not long after a day of using it at uni and home, once again the same problem occurs. It's not only at home that it doesn't connect, at uni it was doing some weird thing where it would connect but wouldn't load anything,
I'm very disappointed at my luck and/or Samsung's performance, nevertheless I'll probably get a refund and maybe even get an Ipad 3, yes i said it, as the apple hater i am, it seems like the only decent tab until trinity comes out god knows when.
cliffs - the wifi on these samsung items are very inconsistent and troublesome in my experience
will be forced to return it unless an angel whispers me a cure for it

I tried several, didn't really help the cause at all. May as well leave it on auto atm, anything works on my laptops/htc phone so i don't see why my samsung has to be so difficult

I think it's a case of bad luck. Mine works fine, all the time. I don't remember ever having to even so much as restart my wifi. Regardless, I don't understand the move from the Tab to the iPad. They aren't really in the same market. A 7 inch tablet is much more portable, lightweight and thin. You would also have to deal with their chokingly restricted ecosystem. plus, no flash, no microSD, you MUST use iTunes, very little codec support, etc.
If you were going to get a similar tablet, but didn't want it through Samsung, there is the Toshiba AT270 coming out in the near future. AMOLED, 7.7 inch, Tegra 3..even a full size USB port.

I have issues with my tab 7.7 on my work wifi (Thompson router) when the router is set to allow only registered wifi routers.
In 'known devices only' mode the tab 7.7 can only connect the first time then won't get an ip every other time,
If I set the router to allow anyone on with the password then it can connect every time.
I had the exact same issue with the tab7plus but my galaxy s2 works absolutely fine.

did you put an external sd card in it? If so, pull it out and try again... Some sd cards are known to make these tabs do crazy things....
Just a thought..
Good luck

Nope, my SD card hasn't even arrived yet lol. Anyone have any other suggestions to replace my tab that are being released soon?

This thing happen sometime. I'm having the same problem with my SGS but the Tab is fine. Certain routes cause that kind of behavior. I don't know why, never bother cause I switch to cell network when it doesn't work.

I had the same issue before update to xxlb4 with some routers. After update my problem go away.

I have been reading that the update is only compatible with P6810 and not the 3G Version. I am not getting anything from Kies with the P6800 and Hong Kong Rom.

you may try other routers if the problem persist return the unit for rma or replacement i encountered the same thing and the culprit is my router

I have no issues on my Asus N12+ router but it did have issues with the Galaxy Note.

I just did a swap

And my GPS is much faster.
Phone was built on the same exact day too.
Factory resetting the phone should be a prerequisite. It eliminated a lot of the loading screens. No different here. The first thing I did was reset the phone.
I just swapped mine too. The GPS problem is not there with this one and I get no lag whatsoever. .. I'm not going to root this one due to the fact its perfect the way it is!

So you just go to t-mobile, complain about the phone, and they'll give you a new one?

Yes, within 14 days, exchange.
I am going to do that.
See my last few posts here: http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Samsu...Tmobile-know/m-p/427717/highlight/false#M5225
Tmobile acknowledges the issue as of today, Samsung phone support was helpless. He also said those are Shipped dates on the box, not manufacture dates...
I think I am going to exchange when I have time tomorrow.. this sucks as it is.

I understand what you're saying and I myself was apprehensive about rooting again but I did and GPS still works the same. I'd understand if you still wouldn't want to mess with what works. WiFi tether doesn't even work so you would basically be rooting just to take screenshots and maybe a couple of other things.

Wherever you got yours from. Take it back and tell them you want a new one because GPS doesn't work on this one. Don't accept those hacky fixes because they really don't work.
That's interesting about the Build Date, it was still "shipped" on the same day then but this one is much MUCH better with the GPS..
Can you guys confirm if the compass problem its still there with your new devices.

I was super unhappy with the phone coming from a nexus one.. it had lag and was just a horrible experience. . Getting this new phone shows me what the vibrant can do.. I don't even think twice about the nexus now.
But I just went in there with my receipt and told them the phone was laggy as hell. He gave me a new one no problems at all!
I love this phone!
Lag is fixed with a simple Factory Reset, GPS seems to be a defect.
my last 2 I've had were laggy even after several factory resets.. this one out of the box is amazing no reset needed.
I dont know. I think i may call T-Mobile because if i go back to Radio Shack im sure im just going to get one of the first phones. Plus when I first got this phone i didnt have any of the lag issues but the more I used the phone the more i noticed the lag problem.
u guys have specific dates of the phones that have the issue and the ones that dont?
Can you now lock into more than one GPS? I think I saw 2 of them lok int today for the first time. I guess I will return it.
your post gave me some hope, so i called into Tmo to arrange the return and exchange
the rep, after giving me the return instructions, asked me if i would mind speaking to their "android" dept - gave me over to somebody who wasn't in that dept but wanted to flesh out the return issue
he looked into it, said he found a note in their system from engineering that there was a known issue with the GPS on the T959 and that there was no known work around or fix at this time
it could be bad chipsets that were used in the first shipment, and these replacements or later production units were assembled with better QC'd GPS chipsets
think i'll wait out the full 14 days to see if the replacements continue to function the way they're supposed and exchange. if not, simply return for credit
I get 3-4 sats in my house. So there is still room for improvement but there is no doubting that this one has much better GPS performance

Thanks for following up with your replacement experience. Guess I'm off to the tmo store today.
I called tmobile as well and they admit that there is a problem that tmobile and samsung are working on, currently all devices are supposed to be affected and there is no known workaround.
The compass is something I could live with but the GPS not working is a reason to return it. Big question is if this is a hardware- or software related issue...
Looks like I will be on my way to the store soon as well...
I just tried a swap myself and they gave me the same spiel about the known problem and no known fix. So I couldn't get a swap because they said it wouldn't fix the problem so the only option they gave me was to get a refund... I passed. If this is true I am very disappointed.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I'd also much appreciate if those of you have swapped and are happy with gps & compass performance can post the date from the box, and maybe serial number sequence (last 4, or something, maybe?)
So far I have no real issues with lag, but definitely get poor gps performance, even after the fixes.
Date on my phone box is 7/12/2010
cheers =)
I've honestly not had any issues with my phone. When I have clear sky its as fast as my G1 was. I will admit its not as strong as my G1 getting a signal in doors near a window, but outside it doesn't have any issues.
I've not exchanged mine or tweaked it. I received mine via UPS last week.
I just received my vibrant today and gps and compass seem to work as good a my old G1. I used gps status from the market and had a 42-38 ft accuracy in the house, didn't test outside, damn tropical depression. The compass seemed pretty stable as well. At least more stable then my G1.
My box ship date is 7/13/10.

Thoughts on why swapping Vibrant would solve issues?

Howdy...
So I have a dilemma...
First of all, overall I LOVE this phone, and have had very few issues with it. The only "issues" I HAVE had have been the "too-long-to-get-a-fix" GPS and the stuttering/inaccurate compass in G-Maps. Sure the occasional lag-spike but every phone gets that. I performed the GPS-fix and it gets a fix MUCH faster now... so I'm happy there. Only problem left is the stuttering compass.
Now my question... I've seen threads about how people have swapped their phones and fixed the issues... my question is HOW? Why would swapping make a difference? I doubt it's a "new batch" off the line, and it sure as hell isn't new software, so why the difference?
Any ideas? Thinking about doing this but not sure if it's worth it or if I should just wait and see about a potential software fix from Samsung.
I think people are just quick to assume. Its the same phone with the same firmware. I just swapped mine today and yeah the GPS and Compass worked fine at first. Now im back to the same issue. Same with laggin. I tried to not install a Task Killer and at first it was cool. But after about 5 hours of heavy use.....lagging was back. Installed task killer and now everything is cool.
SO in short....no swapping WILL NOT fix the issues.
I don't know why people are sure this works. If new phones were shipping with new software, it would have been released. I think, anyways.
Swaps of hardware would work for hardware defects if the manufacturing date is indicative of new hardware configs.
So I don't know. I'm going to call T-Mobile soon anyways. Their online chat isn't working for me at all.
You wouldnt think it would solve anything. I did a swap and both mine had the same date on the box but the second one is a bit better. It takes better night mode shots and loads quicker than my first one did out of the box. Perhaps I just had a faulty one to begin with. GPS does work better on my second one but not great and the compass is still wacky.
A swap really shouldnt fix anything but I figured why not, it's worth a shot. Worked out ok for me but I'll see in a week.
I have the home key issue and I think that swapping will help that. Seems to me that the handset has lower than normal build quality. Its possible that is why there seems to be such a difference in how the handset performs out of the box.
I am not sure why it might exactly help out with the GPS issue but guess what! I just swapped mine about 10 mins ago. It locks on near instantly now. Maps work inside my house as well so awesome.
Just to help clear up (you know, working in customer care at T-Mobile and all) the firmware on exchanged devices is Identical, so if you are having a software issue such as the several clearly discussed and posted issues, exchanging the device won't solve a thing, since the phone you will get is Identical.
You basically have two choices, either return the phone and wait for a firmware update, or enjoy the amazing phone until Samsung releases an update. (Mind this doesn't mean don't complain, by all means complain, make your voices heard, things get fixed faster if you voice your discontent.)
Since this is a flagship Samsung device and essentially is the only phone worth mentioning (including all variants) that they've had released for a while I'm sure they will support the device with timely updates. The thing is that they have to actually fix the problem, and test the fix on multiple devices, then they have to test the fix on a limited number of devices over the air, to make sure they aren't bricked, then they roll out a tiered update to all subscribers using the device, this takes at minimum a few weeks and on average 6-8 from my experience. More if your company is named Motorola.
They are usually pretty careful about this stuff especially since bricked phones cost the company a lot of money in exchanges. They want to get it right when they send the updates.

A very reasoned analysis. But it does beg the question a bit by assuming that there is no hardware issue implicated as all or part of the root cause of the very serious GPS problem. Right now it is only speculation that a firmware update alone can solve this problem. Meanwhile, the clock is ticking.
It does seem that another option for a customer with defective phone is to return it for a refund during the 14-day period -- or the new 14-day period that resets with the replacement phone that still doesn't work right -- and wait to see what concrete solution emerges. Or just keep requesting replacements every 14 days until there is an actual fix.
I swapped mine because of a different issue but I will say that the gps worked extremely fast on the first boot. So I also assumed that the new phone made a difference, it however did not. The phone has begun to revert back to the slow gps signal grabbing. Only thing we can do is wait for an update, which is not good business if you ask me.

boodies-how is the accuracy of your location when it has a fix? What does Maps say about accurate to within X meters?
My opinion is that swapping doesn't fix the problem. I did an exchange anyway just in case, and I'm ending up with the same issues (plus, new phone has a loose volume key). Both phones worked fine at first and then the GPS started screwing up. I've also noticed that GPS works ok after a reboot, but I'm not going to keep restarting my phone so the GPS will work like it should.
Not sure if I'm giving up for now and waiting for a confirmation of the GPS fix before getting another one; or maybe I'll stick it out.

well hope you're wrong because so far with my exchanged unit, I can tell it locks on much much quicker and the accuracy goes down below 50m finally. It hovers around 8-9 meters so far. It will even lock inside the house where before it almost never did. maybe it's the exchange, maybe it's a reset that will do it. Either way, mine works now.

Hi,
I wrote a post earlier regarding a similar isue with my Atrix.
My internal memory is randomly deleted and I loose my files.
I've formatted and apply the factory reset without success because the issue remain.
I have found any solution on the forums at this point of time.

If that's your only issue your lucky! I am using the ATRIX 2 and before that I hat the ATRIX 1 all have had issues. I'm on my 5th ATRIX and going in a few days for my 6th . On this one my apps disappeared when I would reboot and could sometimes get them back after a few reboots but sometimes I had to reinstall. I found that if I keep all my apps on internal storage and game data, pics, music and videos on my SD card I my apps don't disappear. When they look gone there still there just not showing up in your apps drawer most likely due.. to an SD read problem I also have gotten the not enough memory even tho there is plenty of free space along with not being able to unmount my SD and muffled sounds coming and going from my speaker. Get the astro file manager and do a backup of your apps and next time they disappear try to install the backup and I bet it will ask to replace the currently installed app . Happened to me a few times. I even got apps installed but the market says there not! The ATRIX is glitchy and flawed and noone in today's economy can afford the dock and extras you need too get the whole experience of it. I'm tired of resetting and exchanges and if ATRIX 7 isn't flawless I'm going to the iPhone I swear! I also have noticed that even tho the ATRIX 2. Is supposed to get better signal I get half the signal if not less then I got withe ATRIX 1. I like the phone don't get me wrong but all these issues really bother me when my ATRIX is a week old and my wife who has had her iPhone 3gs for 3 years, dropped a million times thrown by our daughter and dropped in the dogs water dish is still working with no problems. Wtf...

A couple of things I would try considering you have had issues since like day 1 with yer atrix's. Have you ever used a different Micro SD Card to replicate these issues, because from the sounds of it you have a trashed Micro SD Card. I was having this issue more or less than I formatted my Micro SD Card and that so far has fixed my issue because somehow my Micro SD Card had got corrupted while in the phone. It is very easy to get corrupted SD Card when switching phones and all the data read and writes that go on.
Disappearing apps is a known issue wth Moto phones.
A google search will reveal this issue with moto phones. Not sure what they are doing to fix it, but keeping your apps in the phones memory seems to be a work around in the short term.
I did format my SD card and maybe there is some corrupt data affecting my apps but that doesn't explain poor signal, muffled sounds coming out if the speaker GPS issues! For example when I first set up the phone it said I was in Paris and I live in NY! And that just the ATRIX 2. All my other ATRIX 1s had issues of there own not pertaining to the SD card. Random reboots. Double boots with a flashing blue then purple light, complete crash on one unresponsive touch screen on another and lagging unacceptable for a dual core phone. I'm no noob to Android and I've been loyal to Motorola from my first cell phone. My CLIQ was great! Never had an issue. This phone has something wrong with it for sure. Mabe its hardware or software that will be fixed withe 4.0 but I payed for a new phone 2months ago and that's what I will get even if I have to switch to iPhone. For the record tho I hate iPhone and really hope that my next ATRIX is better. After research the ATRIX 2 is the best phone out, sgs2 may be a tad faster but not by much and the price is right so there ya go lol

Sounds to me like your store is selling you a bad batch. I have no issues at all. Except the apps disappear occasionally but that's not the phone issue it's a google software issue as this problem can be duplicated on several phones.
The gps issue is unheard of on motorola devices as they use the best hardware for gps (that's a fact) and you can google that.
Just because a phone is dual core does not mean it won't lag. It's all about how the software is implemented to work on that hardware.
Edit- I took that rest off cause I didn't want you to think I was trying to flame. Not my intentions.

ive gotten the low memory before. not sure whats up..
Hopefully my next ATRIX will be OK lol. Has anyone noticed that the camera on the 2 isn't as good as the original ATRIX? Its faster but the auto focus isn't that great especially when taking photos in the dark. Maybe its just that nothing is better then the original, if its a movie or a phone lol I'm thinking maybe I should just go back to my ATRIX 1 but it could just be glitchy and a new one will fix my issues ...I hope
I've had theeee missing apps before, but once I reinstalled them on the phone memory and not on the SD card, it hasn't happened again.
I also think your issues are specific to that particular phone, my Atrix 2 seems to be rock solid with only the camera giving me some grief - not as good as it seemed on the showroom floor.
Have anyone experienced the Wifi dropping out (actually being turned off)? Started noticing this about a week ago...

the atrix 2 is just a magical device aint it?
Kind of hard to tell if these issues are from a handful of units or are very widespread. Most of the Atrix 2 forums are overrun by cicadas. The release of this phone was so low-key and unexpected. Issues should be narrowing by now after two weeks but the community feedback is too small to be meaningful. It's still not available on Amazon and the eBay sellers are scant few. Has anyone received any updates for the phone? I really don't know the update schedule for Moto or ATT phones. Maybe they are just gonna ignore the Atrix 2 since its so under the radar, or maybe since its so under the radar very few people will buy it and thus Moto will not feel like supporting it or won't get reliable issues forwarded to them to fix and thus I'm a sad panda.

And to add to that, the way they promoted the Atrix 1 will probably kill the Atrix 2 also. 99% of commercials "paired" the phone with the lapdock just to sell those overpriced, cpu-less storage-less ram-less things, and not highlighting true capabilities of the phone. 8 out of 10 people want an ipad-like device (didn't say tablet, you know what I mean), they probably already have a notebook at home.

Buy now or wait a couple of month?

Well, a couple of months have passes, and I have the possibility to buy a Nexus 7 (2013) 16GB for around $200. Still, seeing as there are people reporting no issues and others reporting a lot of them, I'm a bit scared to get a bad one. Now, the offer is only valid for a couple of days and I was wondering if I should buy it now or wait a while longer.
I'd like to know what people who already got the device would do if faced with this situation. Go for it o wait?

Buy it, you'll love it. If not you can always return the device. I have the 32gb for over a month now and never had any problems with it. It runs great out of the box

IMO all the problems are < 1% problems except
GPS - fixed
touchscreen issues - workaround for 70-80% of bad units
random reboots - still ongoing
You're missing out on a great device while you're waiting. There's nothing wrong with either my wifi or my lte N7. I bought the wifi n7 early enough to see what the GPS issue was, but that was completely fixed with a system update. I don't see the multi touch issue or the random reboots. I did have one reboot on one of my tablets, but that was immediately after I plugged in a micro USB reader, so it was pretty obviously the cause. I have a Samsung Note 8 also, and I can tell you both my N7s work far, far more reliably. neither of my N7s have the very annoying random freezes of my Note 8. Buy one, and if you find something wrong with it, return it. Simple enough.

This. If these reported problems are common then I'm one of the lucky ones. Not a single problem with mine and it works beautifully. Easily the best buy of any comparable tablet.
I'm curious to see what ROMs and development support the Kindle HDX will have. Hopefully more developers will take full advantage of its better hardware and if so, that would be something I would consider for the same price.

Should be noted that sfhub is totally to be credited for the 70-80% fixed units via his workaround. Google/ASUS is still floundering.
Kudos!
Should also note:
[*] Random screen freezes for 2-10 seconds.
You can always wait, but you will be missing out on a great tablet. :silly:
How can I answer Yes or No to an either /or question? :silly:
so should I return my one with touch/grounding issues for a new one or just wait for an update?!

Return, and keep returning until you get a 'good' one...

Well, excellent point...I don't know why I didn't notice it until now...
Ah well, if anyone has any doubts, let's put Yes for buying it now and No for waiting.
Anyways, thanks everyone for your input, it's very much appreciated
Most people seem to have good experiences with this device, even though there's the casual hiccup (few reboots and the like). I suppose I could always return the device and wait some more month if there's any mayor issue with it.

I voted yes before I saw you wanted a 16GB version. So, I change to no.
I first got a 16GB with many problems. Later got 32GB and with updates its working fine.
If you cannot return the 16GB it is a big risk (my opinion, obviously biased), but if return allowed you should be safe.

Interesting...Do other people have less or none issues with their 32GB device? Shouldn't it have the same issues, considering it's almost the same device?
Asus just used several different brands of LCD. The problem started with Google released a patch that fixed the few that had issues and now the majority have issues. Some were fixed and some were broken. Some are hardware related (with deadzones) but most are correctable. There are several patches available already from Sfhub in this forum. It takes a little trial and error to find a good one FOR YOU but it works.
Exchanging them until you find one that works doesn't mean it will work after you update a few Google updates. My 32gb was flawless out of the box until the 2nd update "touchscreen fix" that introduced the bug to most.
Fortunately it is found that it is correctable with a software fix and we're just waiting on Google to give us a good fix that encompasses all screen types.
If you want to pick one up, I'd suggest you should do so, especially if you are comfortable with flashing community fixes. I don't have any issues after the patch was flashed. Its also real easy to do.
So the N7 doesn't really have any big flaws hardware wise, which seems like it is just a buggy touchscreen driver or a combination of one driver not working the best across multiple screens. Google will fix it. I'm sure of it.

Buy it now!
There seems to be a lot of focus on the touch screen issue for good reason. There is little focus on the RANDOM RESTART/REBOOT ISSUE.
I personally have had no touchscreen issues in my 2 units. I returned the first unit for multiple random restarts/reboots.
My second unit went through 3 on Wednesday in quick succession for some unknown reason but has been stable since then and previously stable for 150 hours (6 ish days). If you are curious, here is the google product forum with posts about random restarts/reboots. To date it is unacknowledged by Google and is extremely frustrating for me not knowing if the device will randomly choose to reboot.
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!category-topic/nexus/nexus-7/mG4JXaT-SHs%5B926-950-false%5D
The device is now 20 days old and I have 10 left in my "exchange" window with my supplier. Theytypically want to replicate issues prior to exchanging which is an interesting dilemma for a random event. My first device rebooted a lot during youtube videos and I was able to replicate that for them. This current unit has recently shut down prior to google app updates. This is not a reboot exactly as it sounds the shutdown tone and then requires a manual restart to find a google app (gmail once, maps once and dont remember the third) awaiting to be d/l'd or installed.
Don't forget the uncertainty of random reboots!!! Annoying, frustrating, not as functionally impacting as a touch screen that doesn't work but still a significant defect.
H/W; S/W; H/W Marginality (timing most likely or ram issues)??? who knows

For me I'll wait until LG G Pad 8.3 release maybe next month, will beat N7, but the only downside with LG is UPDATES.

Really sick of the blue screen of death on this thing

I know a bunch of people have had it but am hoping new firmware will fix it because I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it or warranty work through Samsung. I've tried all the hints and tips...have not rooted it. And I have the P907 AT&T LTE version.
I get that every time I play a game. Checkers. ...

It's a faulty part. Doubt your going to fix it with firmware.

Can you guys post a photo or at least a description how does the BSOD look like in your case, when does it happen and what happens after that (ie. everything gets back to normal after a few secs or you need to reboot or it reboots automatically...).
To be honest: I have P905 - absolutely the same hardware and a little different firmware - and never experienced anything that might be called a BSOD....
Mine would blue screen and restart after about a minute. Sometimes I would have to do a hard reset but usally it would restart itself. After it would happen once it would happen every few minutes.
It's not the exact same hardware. The AT&T version has the 4G hardware that yours doesn't have or doesn't use.
Samsung fixed mine and said it is a part the grabs updates from AT&T. It was unable to update and that is what was causing it to blue screen and restart. Strange because even when I shut off the data it still blue screened but whatever they replaced it is defiantly fixed.

I have the att version. I'm rooted and stock firmware. Never seen the bsod. I bought mine day one.
Drew489, I wish it would be a software issue too but I'm thinking it is a hardware issue. Been looking at forums lately and a lot of the SM-P907A's are experiencing this BSOD. Everytime I'd have to go to recovery mode in order to restart the tablet or it wouldn't turn on at all. I've had it happened 3 times in the past month since I've owned it. It was usually when I was playing clash of clans or watching a video. I've tried clearing the cache (BSOD once after trying that) and then finally doing a factory reset as recommended by the Samsung technicians. It hasn't BSOD since I've did the factory reset but right now I'm trying to do a firmware restore through Kies. If this doesn't work then I'll be sending it for warranty repairs.
I got the P905 so I'm not having this problem, but.. Have any if you tried checking any logs if they can tell what's causing freezes/reboots? If one could find out what's causing it, maby someone is able find a way to fix it?
I sent mine back they replaced the lcd...blue screen hit me today again. .I am calling tomorrow to send it back again. .. never again will I buy a Samsung tablet

You do realize this is a problem that only occurs on the P900 and the AT&T version, and not a generic Samsung problem? Not a single P905 is afffected.
It's like saying 'I will never buy a Toyota, because one type in France had problems with the brakes once.'
Wow you made zero point again.. Sorry I was busy responding to your first reply before you edited it... Toyota and brakes??? What do u smoke??
I don't care about the Wi-Fi version this is a issue I had for awhile.. I wrote the original post in general months ago http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-pro-12/general/wth-blue-screen-fade-to-black-t2856774 You trying to sum it up the way you did makes no sense but to use your logic. If I was to buy a toyotta and had brake issues and they refused to fix it for me , being a manufacturer defect. Then wouldn't I be a fool to continue purchasing from someone that does not stand behind there product???
Now I admit my response was somewhat knee jerked but I am fed up with owning a high end tab I can only use when the tab allows me to before it goes blue.

How is the P900 not a generic Samsung one? It's WiFi only.

Because not all Samsung devices use that particular chip.
Exynos and snapdragon are not the same

So just to be clear, you are saying the Samsung Exynos chip is not a "generic" Samsung ..... Using the Qualcomm chip makes it a generic Samsung? I suppose I can understand the logic since Qualcomm is the dominant chipset, but when I think generic samsung I think pure samsung which means exynos in my mind.
Either way I want these random reboots to stop.

I was refereeing to the fact some uninformed people seem to think the Wi-Fi version and the att version share the same chip set. They do not... I didn't refer to anything being generic.. I stopped the reboots after I rooted by installing xposed and downloading a Samsung reboot module. I can't remember the name off hand... I think it was actually for the s4 but works with our tabs..907a

Yeah, when I updated the ROM I totally forgot about that setting in Wanam Xposed. I just checked it a few minutes ago and here's hoping this is all it was. Of course it'd be better if Sammy fixed the bug in the first place and we didn't need Xposed modules to solve the issue, but I digress.

Yup but Samsung has a bad habit of abandoning tablets software wise, once it's out it's out. Given the carrier devices are more of a piston because I think the carrier dictates updates
