[Q] Stable ROMs? (CM7.1/CM7.2: FAIL)

I might be the only one here with this, cause I've read through many posts....But CM7.2 has freeze problems on my green lens defy, which I have to reboot by removing the battery. CM7.1 when I use the Camera, hangs, and have to reboot. And sometimes the same thing happens with my music player: DoubleTwist.
I love the CM Roms.. but not having solved my issues, what is out there that works? Suggestions?

mine is running smooth and really fast. i'm on last Quarx nightly 2012.05.05 and it's awesome build. i have no hangs no random reboots, it's pretty stable for me.

Try flashing a new base froyo and do the whole process again.
Also make sure to always wipe cache/dalvik.

If I were to do this, what base froyo are we talking about.
I always do the following:
Cache, Dalvik, install zip from sdcard....reboot

I take it it's the 04/05 Nightly right and not the one that has (kobe)?

Well I installed this morning CM7.2 Stable and it has happened again....for instance when I power off, the phone lags for about 3 seconds, then it slowly animates the TV tube animation and shuts off.
I'm downloading the quark 04/05 nightly to see if that helps.

Hi,
that's weird. My Defy (MB525, Red Lens) works fine with 7.2 nightly. Used the Defy+ Version with 4.5.2-109_DHT-22 GB kernel. Works stable and fast...

Do a full wipe (data, cache) flash 7.1 zip and gapps and wipe cache and dalvik again. It should work.

Btw, defy+ builds might not work properly on your phone since the camera module is different.

Well the Quarx Nightly has been working well for three days now. It's much solid than the RC. It does lag a bit, but then again it might be I have a lot of open apps.

for one year I owned Defy. No it broke down and I purchased Defy+. I was very happy with CM 7.2 RC1 ROM. Now I'm in doubts which ROM should I flash. I heard CM7 has problems with camera and battery on Defy+ and in CM9 ROMs doesn't work Opera or Chrome browsers, which is a major issue for me.
Which ROM would you suggest for Defy+ (2.3.5 official ROM)?

Try the latest cm72 nightly by Quarx, I'm using it on my Defy+, very stable and fast.

I'm running it now. It is really very stable and fast. The only issue I discovered so far is that camera picture is upside down.

I don't have this issue. Maybe a factory reset or a reflash would help.

I just got CM9 4.0.4 to work and I must say that its great! Well only had it a short time but it looks great its better looks and usability. Only thing swype doesnt work but slideIT does not as good but it works.
Cant comment on to much else ATM, Opera mini next works on it for me, not sure about the full version I mainly access the net at home and opera mini has always done what I needed away from home so I cant complain

is it safe to use CMW with this nightly, if i have rooted stock 2.3.4 ROM? Or do i have flash some kernel before?
Tried MS2Ginger, but it doesnt suit for me ...

You can also use the Whiterabbit, 7.2 cm based

I use MS2Ginger, in my opnion is the best rom...

You can use Swype beta . It worked for me.
Its free and all it needs is registration. If you get FC's go to manage apps for swype and wipe data and cache.

Didint test CM 9s myself , coz i jumped from Stock to 2ndboot immediately CM 10 Cyanogen, but from what i can read - mostly all 4.0.4 are stable now.
CM 10s are also stable enough, used all versions of Cyanogen by Quarx from 2013 - suggest , if you decide to go that way to start with 0409 ROM. It has pretty good battery management, and no WiFI dropouts..All in all good choice..And no ringtone bug too.
If you get no WiFI and or no mobile signal - check FIRST aeroplane mode - it tends to boot with it on.
Just turn it off - and all works.

thx buddy i've installed latest CM10 and running well too....
at the start i got wi-fi problem, wi-fi is not starting but after tweaking the baseband all started well....
now the thing is that I can not overclock my cell stcuk on 1GHz stcok frequency....
anyone here plz suggest me what should i do to get overclocked CPU...

is that franco kernel updater will able to update the kernel???

Think that read here on forums that SetVsel won't work well with CM10s..and tends to crash the thing ...look it up, not sure about it where i read it. If ur using it - try with something else. Also , read about developers pages - they are doing something wtih 3+ kernel but still very experimental.. check Quarx pages ull find all kinds of it there.

wajkiui 3.1.27 (gb) seems very stable, more than any other rom i tried including stock. second best would be stock (imo)

But, its based on 2.3.7 , isn't it? My guess was we are talking about CM10 4.1.2...All 4.0.4 are fully stable and thats CM9. Your talking about CM7 if im not mistaken, and that's way old. For that to put on defy plus - you can leave stock..

cm9/10 seemed too slow to me. stock is somewhat better but nowhere near gb-based miui. and the subject thread does not mention cm10. to me, the improvements of cm10 in terms of features do not make up for the loss in speed.

I wanted to ask which ROM should I install...I KNOW THERE ARE SEVERAL THREAD ABOUT "STABLE ROM"
but the thing is that they are very old and at present m on CM10 the 26.05.2013 built....also tried CM10.1 of 7.06.2013 built the thing is that CM10.1 is very sluggish (what I felt)...n came back to cm10 26.05...but yesterday when I was using Google Maps it shutdown and when m trying it to boot I'm stuck on the CM logo...
the question is
"DO I GO WITH CM7.2 AS CM9 IS DISCONTINUED TO DEVELOP...AND CM10/10.1 IS NOT THAT STABLE...I CAN NOT AFFORD TO WIPE MY CELL FOR UPDATE/CRASHES SO I NEED A STABLE ROM ON WHICH I CAN STAY, ALSO NEED A GOOD BATTERY PERFORMANCE"...
MY USAGE:
* I USE MY CELL FOR INTERNET SURFING,
* WATCHING YOUTUBE,
* PLAYING GAMES (VERY LESS AND VERY SMALL GAMES NOT LIKE TEMPLE RUN/SUBWAY SURFERS),
* MAPS,
* TWITTER...THATS IT...SO PLZ UPDATE MY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT ROMs..

Don't worry.. CM10 is stable enough for all that, just don't get 10.1..

meanwhile the post was made i was downloading both cm7.2 and cm10 the latest one....I've installed the cm7.2 on my device and overclocked it via setvsel upto 1.2GHz...and ran the Quadrant benchmark...got 2120 Score...which amazed me...(Screenshot added)...
and running well....but as of using the cm10 from last 15 days...m getting used to that...
so now I've again installed cm10(16.06)...but m facing the wifi jamming problem on it....
any suggestions??

I haven't used 1606 yet.. I'm having some problem with my phone at the moment.. I cannot flas any ROM now..
I am back to stock and rooted, could u please suggest how you got to cm7 atleast??

Cm7 is an easy way to go.....just get it from cynogen mod's official website....get.Cm or getcm.org....further get the gapps for it...and got recovery....and just flash it

After downloading put those files in memory card....then go to recovery....and wipe cach/data/dalvik-cach/battery stats....and after doing all this flash the files....after flashing againg wipe the same things...n reboot thats it....no battery drops....no bugs....enjoy pure performance

CM10/CM10.1 are both extremely stable. To the point where CM10.1 is my main ROM; however the battery life is very bad, I get about 6h with 3G always on, but with 2G only you'd easily get a day

Well Cm10.1 is stable for me. If you only use 2G then it won't be much of a problem since your battery wont drain too fast

Your favourite ROM for Defy?

I just wondered what your favourite ROM is for Defy?
I am on CM7 Gingerbread at the moment but would like to update. I have the Bayer lens.
Is there anything in particular you'd recommend for running smoothly without too many bugs?
I hear that the newer versions of Android from 4.1.2 and above you don't have to keep re-entering your VPN password and details as it remembers them and reconnects you automatically?
Am I best going for a Jellybean ROM like CM10 CMX, Slimbean or Paranoid Droid? Or are the KitKat versions okay to go to now without many bugs?

Just make a backup and try the latest CM11 ROM.
I never had a serious problem with CM11, and I update regularly. For me, stable for daily usage.

i still find cm7 the best, and i'm on maniac107's 10/7/13 built.
edit: i don't use vpn.

I must have tried at least 30 different roms since I own my defy. The fastest 4.1 one was called NEGAN.
Now, talking about 4.4, my favourite and fastest are Paranoid. Slim kat is awesome but causes too many random reboots

I find the cm7.2 the fastest. But it does tend to get slow after installing no of apps.

i suspect that could be due to memory limitation of the defy. i mean, from cm9 onward you can't even install a full gapps.

CyanogenMod 9 Quarx2k lastest build.

I'm still on CM7 with my Defy because I use it on daily basis. Every other ROM is good at first but then they became unbearably slow. @@

With CM11, only after a long time, for me, it starts to be slower. Wiping cache and dalvik solves that problem for me (I update regularly with the latest ROM, so my Defy+ do not get slow).
