Hey all i created this thread for ADVANCED users (and some newbies lol) so that i can better help users tweak and improve performance on their eris. My inbox was getting crazy so i thought this would be better i will still take pm questions but it would be better if we can all learn here. This isn't really a place to report bugs as it would be better to contact your respective developer or post in that developers thread. I will try my very best to get the best performance out of your eris and hopefully we will have some fun along the way. So hopefully this can help take some of the load off of the developers threads and reduce noob-age.
I ONLY ASK THAT IF USERS WANT TO TWEAK I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU EITHER..........
1) PURCHASE ROOT EXPLORER FROM THE MARKET OR THE FREE ESTRONGS FILE EXPLORER APP FROM THE MARKET WHICH ALSO ALLOWS ROOT ACCESS AS WELL.... BUT I THINK ROOT EXPLORER IS BETTER IMHO.
2) HAVE ADB SET UP FOR YOURSELVES AT HOME OR KNOWLEDGEABLE OF ADB. I WILL NOT HELP YOU SET UP ADB OR THE SDK
ALSO I RECOMEND PURCHING THE FULL VERSION OF TITANIUM BACKUP AS IT IS AN INVALUABLE TOOL FOR ROOTED USERS AND MAKES BACKING UP AND TWEAKING MUCH EASIER FOR NEWBIES PLUS IT HAS SOME REALLY AWSOME FEATURES
so hopefully this will give us fun things to do in between releases from our devs. And always remember to donate to these awesome awesome eris devs for their hard work and commitment to us.
i want to keep an open discussion thread, nothing is off the table.

lets figure it out together while learning along the way
Things are always changing so if you see any errors or things that need to be updated please let me know and i will be more than happy to get the correct information posted.
Moving apks and deleting dulicates...make your system efficient
YOU need either rootexplorer OR be ADB inclined to do the following....
i was thinking while doing some root exploring of ways to make this rom more solid and here are a few tips i thought everyone could use.
IF YOU DONT HAVE DUPLICATES DONT KILL YOURSELF SEARCHING JUST CONSIDER YOURSELF LUCKY. AND YOU DONT NEED THIS POST
FIRST
when i flash a Rom i always do my set up. here is an overview of what i do when i flash........
-i flash the Rom
-then i login to google as normal so i can receive Titanium Backup (TB) and Root Explorer (RE) from the market updates
if someone could be kind enough to give us a sample command to use terminal to install apps from the sd would be a great shortcut for us
-move those two apps from data/app to system/app
-then i do a full wipe (huh a full wipe you say....system files are never wiped....they can only be flashed over, so TB and RE will still be there)
-clean nand (so if you get crazy and screw up you can easily start over)
-Rom surgery
-Restore
-login to google last and sync
-batt tweaks and extras
this process IMHO makes your rom way more efficient than flashing, login and syncing.
OK
first thing i do when i flash a rom is to remove junk
i navigate with either explorer to system/app folder
then i remove all the useless apps i dont use, need or want
AND/OR remove the "ONE USE" apps (like setupwizard.apk only need it once or none at all if your a pro )
this reduces the ROMs footprint making it smaller
the smaller the Rom the better the faster
here are some things i like to rip out of system/app folder....
ADWLauncher.apk (make sure you have another launcher first i use lanucher pro)
Mail.apk (i use gmail)
Twitter.apk (i currently dont tweet)
ProTips.apk
HtcCalibrate.apk (after i calibrate of course)
Launcher2.apk(why have a bunch of other launchers you dont use hogging memory get rid of them)
MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk (this dont work for me but other do)
Carhomegoogle.apk ONLY
etc. there are others you can remove as well depending on you
and we will experiment to find more......
NEXT
i like to move IMPORTANT apks or apps from the data/app folder to the system/app folder epically if your Rom dev has not updated the gapps lately or you cant get access to the latest gapps.zip.
if you do not then you will end up with a lot of duplicate apps installed in your system when ever you receive a gapps update and that wastes memory and will cause memory issues in the future and it screws with autokiller
i like to move my favorite launcher (launcher pro paid) to the same place where launchers go, in the system/app folder (why have your launcher where regular apps go and get killed by autokiller) i think this is better for the system and doesn't hog your app data space plus it adds stability to your launcher.
here are some things i like to move into system/app.....
i like move into system/app are
launchers (stabilze launcher)
keyboards (should speed up keyboard strokes)
root tools and IMPORTANT apps (R.E. T.B.)
security apps (never deleted or wiped in case of theft, hoping thief is not nerdy)
any of the latest gapps update
and some others
this way if any issue occurs wipe and restore is easy as pie
IMPORTANT: APPS IN THE SYSTEM FOLDERS DO NOT GET WIPED OR DELETED DURING A FACTORY DATA WIPE OR DALVIK WIPE.....THEY CAN ONLY BE FLASHED OVER BY A ROM(OVERWRITTEN)
APPS IN THE DATA FOLDERS WILL GET DELETED DURING A FACTORY WIPE......BUT NOT DALVIK
i know we are ALL have at least one pair of identical (double apks in the system)
-but the identical apks have different names
-on is in data/app the other is in system/app
if you have updated ANY google app then chances are that you may have some double apps on your system wasting. when we update these google apks 'think' the rom comes with the apk already and is stored in the protected system/app folder WHILE the actual update is stored in the data/app folder (or where regular apps go) under a different name
EXAMPLE
google maps
-MAPS.apk ........is stored system/app
-com.google.android.app.map-1.apk........is stored in the data/app (this is the latest update of google maps and should replace the older MAPS.apk in system/app)
-these are the SAME APKs
hmmm so think gmaps is 5-6 megs in size and you have 2 of them so thats like 10-12 megs in your system, get rid of the old one.
there are two thing you can do here with two different benefits
-you can either remove the copy from either the data OR system folders depending on what you prefer.
if you remove the old app from system/app that means easier updates with now file moving BUT less app storage
OR move from data/app to system/app which means less FCs, more other app memory, and dealing with future updates and moving each app.
i like to move the new apks to the system/app where they belong
unstable Launcher PRO
my launcher was very unstable for a while wasn't a big deal for me
soo i decided to move my launcher to the system/app folder like all the other launchers....
I think the instability of that launcher was because of AUTOKILLER thinking this is just a regular app in data/app which it was at the moment. i may be wrong but autokiller doesnt kill system apps. so i move my launcher there and guess what now my launcher is much better and faster and stable beacuse you now have lots more memory.
SPEED TIP: in spare parts speed up your transition and animation windows to FAST
MOVING APPS ADVANCED SHORTCUT
i finally figure out a great short cut for moving apps
-first rename and put your favorite file manager (ROOT EXPLO) onto the sd.
to be even faster rename and put your launcher and TB on there too.
-after flashing a rom bypass the setup (touch the android screen) to home screen.
-open terminal
-type
SU
cd sdcard
busybox install yourapp.apk /data/app
-now you have the file explorer ready to go
instead of trying to restore wipe restore.
and hopefully you know what to do next.
so to summarize...
-get rid of junk you dont use and free up that memory
-move apps to the proper locations in system/app AND/OR data/app
-make sure you dont have multiple google apps using different names
"MAPS.apk" and "com.google.android.app.map-1.apk" IS THE SAME APP IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. remove the old and put the new in system/app
make sure your main launcher is in system app so it doesn't keep getting killed by auto killer settings and reloading
Replace THESE apps = with THESE apps
system/app = data/app
Gmail.apk = com.google.android.apps.gm-1.apk
ChrometoPhone.apk = com.google.android.apps.chrometophone-1.apk
Maps.apk = com.google.android.apps.maps-1.apk
CarHomeGoogle.apk = com.google.android.carhome-1.apk
GoogleSearch.apk = com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk
Googles.apk = com.google.android.appsunveil-1.apk
SuperUser.apk = com.noshufou.android.su-1.apk
AutoKiller = com.rs.autokiller-2.apk
TitaniumBackup = com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup-2.apk
Twittter = (forget)
Voice= com.google.android.apps.gv-1.apk i think
YouTube=
delete OLD in system/app = move NEW from data/app to system/app
YES i did all those with success more memory and speed and a massive increase in overall Rom stability
there may be more
BUT ALL THESE HAVE DUPLICATE APPS USING DIFFERENT NAMES stored in data/app and/or system/app WHEN the latest update should be system/app IMHO to prevent AUTOKILLER from always killing i believe autokiller will try to kill data apps first before system apps.
i still have my auto killer set at optimum and things work even better now
and i gained 25mb of system memory no more Force closes
Batt tweak custom set up process (a 1-2 day process to complete)
How to increase battery life
first off battery life depends on many factors.....
where you live, work, and the daily place you travel to.
im one of the lucky ones who has a cell tower down the street from me here in S. FL.
WARNING: IF you multitask alllllll day on your phone then this is not for you. This is more beneficial when your phone is at rest or in an idle state or screen off state.
Others may not be so lucky and may live in a bad signal area....which causes your phone to constantly search and listen for signals.
Also battery life could depend on the widgets you use or apps that you have active.
Example: Beautiful Widgets beautiful home is a constantly running app that also
-on occasion activates the GPS to acquire location
-on occasion downloads update weather data
Example: Facebook Widget
-by default update statuses every 15 minutes, so every 15 minutes its downloading data
so i usually adjust these settings to my personal liking
Now for the battery calibration process and how it works
Decad3nce port of Colins_ph batt tweak allows us to use some setcpu profiles without setcpu.
Setcpu and its widgets were resource monsters crippling our system and drain battery life as well. kiss setcpu goodbye we wont be needing it anymore.
the batt tweak calibration process takes some patience as the entire process could take 1-3 days to complete depending. Also i highly recommend using the latest CFS kernel by Conap as it provides extra battery savings
we will be running colins batt tweak during the calibration process so that both calibrate together, which makes a lot of sense as opposed to doning them separately.
here is the process and DS's custom settings for batt tweak 1 (the first release)
please remember to prepare yourself not to interrupt the process. the draining process may die while you are at work or during an emergency. so be prepared to have little use of your phone.
-flash latest CFS kernel found here
-flash batt tweak attached at the bottom of this post until its updated and fixed....more info in thread here
-turn off phone and let charge for a few hours or more to ensure that it is full
-when ready boot into recovery mode and wipe the batt stats and power off
-unplug phone and power on (charging cable not needed) you may experience weird battery levels or fast draining (this is normal)
-immediately open TERMINAL and activate colins_ batt tweak
with command batt-cfg and go to option 3 and input these settings........
I think this works much better
this schedueler keeps the cpu much lower
here if anyone want to try it out

- close terminal and operate phone normally if you want...i highly suggest leaving it alone as much as possible until it drains completely dead.
-use a cpu monitoring app just to make sure the cpu is idle i have seen mine dip down 80mhz if not then you need to kill active open apps
-let phone naturally drain completely until its dead (could take a full day or two mine was 48hrs with some usage)
-when dead make sure by pressing power rapidly a few times
-while off let phone recharge for as long as possible maybe four hours or more the mor the better
-when ready unplug phone and turn on
-when powered on reactivate batt tweak using terminal batt-cfg, then option 9 to save and your done (once setup all you need is option 9 to save and reactivate)
-wtf DS my phone is on but reads less than 100% battery. this is normal replug while on and let charge to full
- when full the process is now complete and you can use phone as normal
REMEMBER THAT SOME ROMS DO NOT ACTIVATE THE TWEAK AND YOU WILL NEED TO DO SO UNTIL YOUR DEV AS ADD THE SCRIPT TO ACTIVATE ON A REBOOT. SO UNTIL THEN OPTION 9 IN BATT TWEAK WILL DO THIS
use an app like system panel or seepu to look at cpu speeds make sure the cpu isnt running at 100%.
try to close apps if you see this but a reboot usually fixes this.
these settings allow for the cpu to use lower clock speeds when idle. much lower than the stock 245000 settings yes were going to the minimum 19200 with little to no side effects or slow downs, but the benefits are more when in a idle state. But it WILL drain at about same rate when your using it heavily.
make sure the tweak is running by either opening terminal and enter pidof batt.sh you should see the processing id number if its running.
OR for a full read out of stats do batt-diag
and observe the time in state read out at the bottom. if you see values next to the 19200 clock speeds........SUCCESS!
PS if you screen on time is 3 hours and your phone is dead, DONT BLAME THE BATT TWEAK....BLAME YOURSELF !
ENJOY

this is a thread to help old and new users tweak and mod their phones and other advanced stuff
trying to put all the knowledgeable stuff in to one easy thread and it will be dev related
im just started this thread im not done i have lots to do here
my in box is getting a little crazy
this should benefit all and provides basic dev techniques and instruction
this is the beginning stages
plus should reduce the number of faqs for everyone
less fights

ok, i did all the setting tweaks that you recommend. do i have to input them every time i reboot? i dont see a setting that restores my previous settings.
Hey DS,
Great idea to help newbs like me! So after reading your first two posts I looked where my apps are, and every one of them seems to be in system/app... I checked in data/ and can't see anything in there (unless it's sdcard/data, in which case I have folders for Beautiful Widgets and Titanium). I'm using the EStrongs FE, although I don't think that would make a difference. Also, couldn't find any of the duplicate apps you were talking about either (I only have com.google.android.apps.maps.apk, for example). I'm on xtrROM 4.6 and used Titanium Backup to restore my apps.
Hi all,
i love this forum so much. thx for that!
When i change my rom i allways do:
download the rom
titanium backup
charging phone to 100%
cwm backup
data wipe
cache wipe
install the rom
dalvik wipe
adding my wifi
adding my google-acc
downloading about 20 apps
restore the userdata with titanium backup
adjust homescreens
changing a lot of settings (for example im very tired for setting allways my auto-brightness-levels. Can i export and import?)
i need about 7h to have everything that way i like it. how long do you need? and have you some tricks to fasten it up?
thx
greets
haxn
PS: im using "ILWT CM7 333" rom. it is awesome!
Most times, backup rom (2-10mins), full wipe, flash, use... Add Titanium sometimes, but I prefer to redownload everything. So something like 15 mins. Also because I change rom frequently, when I decide to keep a rom, I may add some more wipes and sometimes kernels and optimizations (swap, ViperMod, supercharger (just found) or similar...), but most of the times they work right without anything
sorry didn't see you meant also settings and downloading apps, 1 hour so.
7 hours? Jesus!
I can do it all in an hour or 2. To be fair, I'd say 2 hours, as its easy to put the phone down and doing something else while waiting for a task to get done (like CWM backup or Titanium), then forgetting about it for a while.
Of course, how low your battery is will affect the charging step, but at most that's an additional hour.
I can't imagine it taking more than a couple hours, much less the other choices on your poll.
7 hours, the hell man. That's quite a lot. I can do it in an hour clean. But I suppose it all depends on how you use your phone...
I just wipe, flash and then install a couple of apps. I use yahoo mail and it handles all my other mail accounts as well, so that's a quick and dirty cheat as all you need to do is install the app and sign in and boom all your mail is back and all your mail accounts are configured

It only takes about an hour. I do a nandroid backup, titanium, call log, and sms. That's like ten or fifteen minutes. Then I flash the new rom. Install gapps connect to wifi and download titanium again. That only takes ten minutes. The only thing that takes long is restoring apps. I use go launcher on most roms so I just keep the same home screens and settings. I don't see what could take seven hours...

do you restore your apps with titanium? are not there issues when updates come?
maybe 7h is too much, mostly im doing this while watching tv, etc. maybe im not that focused. =)
but i really need some hour to have all the way i like it. dont you have your own preferences on auto-bightness? this take a while. i hope they have a nicer option to adjust it in cm9.
and the poll... its just for fun. =)
Why do you all charge to 100%? I just flash unless I'm below 25% after I flash a new rom I drain it to 1% and wipe battery stats, my battery life has improved dramatically since I started doing that. Oh, and I would say two hours max.

No it hasn't.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/google-engineer-debunks-myth-wiping-battery-stats-does-not-improve-battery-life/
You can't "improve battery life" by playing tricks with battery stats. Its like saying that messing with the fuel gauge in your car will change how much gas is left in the tank. Battery gauge calibrations and whatnot just change what the meter is saying versus voltage. It doesn't change how long your battery lasts.

Its true that most times, you just need enough juice to get the flash done. And I've certainly done it with much less charge than 100%.
In some circumstances of modding the phone its possible to get stuck in a state where the phone will not charge. Messing with hboot is one case where this may happen, but there may be others. In this case, you can recover, provided you have enough battery to do so. If your battery runs too low before you can recover, you are in deep trouble.
Not sure if this type of scenario is possible with a routine ROM flash. But waiting an extra 15 minutes or half hour to make sure you have a decent charge (while not necessarily 100%) doesn't hurt anything, and might prevent you from being stuck in a bad situation.

Nope. Apps restored from Titanium are still linked to the Market. They get updated just as normal.
After a ROM flash I usually let the apps sync through Google, then restore the app data only, for apps that need it. But sometimes when apps are missing after the auto-sync, I just restore from Titanium.

And changing that setting takes what, about 10 seconds?
I think you're talking about changing lots of little settings (but you keep mentioning brightness only). But in that case, we're still talking about changing a bunch of settings that take 10 seconds each (or less). Still don't see how that can add up to more than an hour or 2.
another thing to note on battery draining. With the current generation of batteries, it's actually not a good thing to drain it to 1%. It does more damage than anything else. Older gen batteries require that you drain it then charge it up to full again for a few cycles, but that's because of the memory effect.
By draining your battery to 1% you're starving the battery and doing nothing but damaging the battery's capacity. our batteries usually prefer a 20-45% level over anything else.

So when google syncs your apps do you still have to go in and manually download them from the my apps page in the market? I've always used titanium to restore and even when I do it in a batch operation I have to hit install and then done for each app. Is there a way to automate this?

there are a lot of settings u can play with. profiles. homescreens. lockscreen. sounds. auto-brigthness xD (i use 10 level. how u can adjust them in just 10s?). haptic feedback.

Nope. They should just start synching automagically once you go through the setup wizard (first time you boot the phone after the flash) and enter your Google login. Of course, only for Market apps, not apps obtained from other sources.

I wasn't clear on what you were talking about with auto brightness before. I thought you meant just changing the % brightness in settings. Is the auto brightness you mention an app, or a CM7 hack (I haven't messed with CM in a long time). If its an app (and there are some auto brightness apps), you can try to restore app data using Titanium instead of re-entering manually.
Which launcher are you using? If its ADW, you have the option in app to backup the home screen configuration. When you restore, it doesn't come back perfect (some widgets always get messed up for me). But it gets you 80% there and saves a bunch of time. I assume Launcher Pro and other 3rd party launchers has similar functionality. Not sure if you can do similar on the stock launcher (maybe using Titanium?)
auto brightness:
yes it is cm7-stuff. i want my screen a bit darker to improve my batterylife.
launcher:
i use go launcher. there is a save and restore function. but some things go wrong.
and again:
and now a big noob question:
how/where can you sync your apps with google?

If you downloaded apps from the Google Android Market (the "regular" market), then they should just start automatically start synching when you startup the phone after a flash (or buy a new Android phone). You shouldn't have to "do" anything extra. If you got your apps for another market or installed the APKs manually, it won't do this.
IIRC the free version of TB requires you to hit install for each app while the paid version does it in one batch.

You shouldn't have to "do" anything extra. If you got your apps for another market or installed the APKs manually, it won't do this.

Jinxed myself. The above has always worked for me, over various different ROMs (CM7, VIrtuous "regular", Affinity, Unity, RCMix, MIUI). I just flashed InsertCoin last night, and none of my apps were automatically synched when I started the phone up. In Market, only my paid apps showed up, and I had to install them manually one by one.
Searching around a bit on here, it seems the auto-sync function is a bit hit-or-miss. One person claims it mostly only works on AOSP ROMs, but this is clearly not the case in my experience.
This is just a general question but can anyone tell me why android runs so many apps in the background. It takes up a lot of memory and slows the phone down considerably.

Re
It's not unusual to see all those apps marked as Running. This doesn't mean they are actually running, Android just keeps them "pre-loaded" in a dormant state until they are needed again. If you don't use them for a long period of time the OS will eventually kill them. So, no worries http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/smile.gif
This is the way Android memory works, in order that recently used apps etc load quicker, so don't concern yourself too much, but try and keep widgets to a minimum
Sent from the depths of despair
That's normal.
As said, this is normal. You can use Apps like Task-killer to stop the unwanted ones from starting up. I don't use Task-Killer because I think that's just another app added to the system. I have a shortcut of running apps (settings>apps) in my home screen and periodically stopping unwanted apps.

And if you're really annoyed by a useless app restarting frequently, you can either uninstall it if possible or freeze it with Titanium Backup.
Thanks,
Normally the phone runs great but every now and then it gets really slow.
Just going to have to live with it until I get enough money for the S3
Does anyone have experience customizing the Lemfo smartwatches running Android 5.1? I am getting an LEM4 and wanted to know if its possible to gain access to the ROOT OS??? How can I download the firmware from the watch? If anyone can help, I would be happy to post the results here and the firmware.

I'd like to know also. On eBay they go by DM98. Ive seen a few YouTube videos now and my biggest gripe is that it doesn't look like it responds well or quickly. Skype looks like a terrible frame rate. But I want it! But I want it to be good. Lol. Maybe I can solder in another 1gd of RAM?
i just have the Lem5 really great watch already making my own watch themes (verry easy todo) but dint look into the rom section yet, mainly because i havee everything and google app store to install stuff. Right now i have spotify music stream to my amplifier runs great and battery live is more then 10 hours.

I got my LEM4 rooted with rootking without any problems. I would like to try to change the small partition size where you install the apps because there is not much room for installing apps.

Oh and watch out which one of the LEM4 you buy. There seems to be two versions out there, one has android 4.4 (like the one in your link) and the other one has android 5.1.

I accidentally ordered the Android 4.4 one, what i really wanted was Android 5.1.
Had no problem rooting the 4.4.
I really like this watch, specially battery life but the way the storage is partitioned makes it difficult to really get the most out of it.
As is explained in another thread, you only have about 601mb of space for installing apps (and most of that space is already filled with stockapps) and about 2gb of space for storing your files like music, video and photo's etc...
If i could find a way to re-partition the storage space it would really be a winner for me.
Got mine a few days ago. I like it. I seems to have gotten the 4.4 one too.
A few questions:
1) How do I connect it to a computer? Where is the usb port?
2) Can I have a sim and micro SD card or are they the same?
3) Have we figured out how to put on custom watch faces?
4) Would you mind posting a link to putting custom firmware like Android Wear?
Thanks all!
@froggerman: did / could you upgrade to 5.1 (is a 5.1 rom available somewhere) after rooting? Did you swap the apps to storage with eg titanium backup (sorry, old)?

Hi
could you elaborate how to make own watch themes.

I'm very pleased with my DM98 (~LEM4, with android 4.4), imho it points to the future of wrist computers (= not 'watch' but wrist computer), so this forum should become interesting. A few quirks with which I could use some very appreciated help:
1. No navigation bar, I use 'Notification bar opener' and 'Head-up notification' to circumvent this, but there must be another / better way(?). A setting I'm overlooking?
2. No 24hour style clock setting option / checkbox in 'Date & time' setting, also not findable via 'Settings Search' app (thanks Smartwatch Ticks). Cannot find an app solution for this.
3. Rooted with kingroot (thanks Froggerman), but have some difficulties using Titanium Backup to move apps to storage, or back. Backup itself went smoothly once the backup-path was set. Anybody better option for apps to SD (there are too much apps with this name!).
4. Only one button, so no easy recovery booting (I think), no idea if Nandroid or some such can safely (re)flash a TWRP of CMW partition. Anybody braver than me?
Stats from Titanium Backup:
- 154MB of 825MB system ROM free.
- 713MB of 1.36GB free in internal memory with ~300MB apps installed (so no worries there) and
- 1.14GB free in 'Media' (=storage or SD or..).

I have not upgraded to 5.1 yet. There seems to be no firmware/rom available for the LEM4. Rooting it was the easy part. Trying to repartition it is turning out to be difficult. First of all there is no way to get into recovery mode using only the on/off button. I tried ROM Manager with my Lemfo LEM4 to force it into recovery mode. It does work and it seems that the LEM4 did go to the Recovery startup screen but not all of the information is beeing shown. It's like the screen zooms in (or the resolution of the screen is not big enough to show everything). Normally i should see a screen with a "dead" android logo and on top of the screen a choice menu but on the LEM4 only the middle part with the android logo is shown. So you can't see the choice menu. And even if you did, there are no up and down buttons (volume buttons) to make a selection and then enter that selection... I also would like to go into the recovery mode but can't seem to find a way with the zoomed in screen and the lack of selection buttons...
When you force it to recovery mode with ROM Manager you get totally stuck and have to let the battery drain out to get the LEM4 watch up and running again.

I wanted the LEM4 to be more smartphone then smartwatch. I also don't like the watchfaces that comes with it and find them not very usefull. I made the LEM4 smartwatch much more productive by installing the following apps:
APEX Launcher (i find this one even better then nova launcer. You lose the watchfaces but are able to put time and date on the homescreen by using widgets. And when you swipe down from the top, you get your typpical notification shown).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher
Virtual softkeys (This one is great, get back/home/running app button on your screen). You can even make the softkeys disappear when you don't need them.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tw.com.daxia.virtualsoftkeys
Power Toggles (Toggle your bluetooth/wifi/data and lots more right on your homescreen(widget) or notification screen)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc
Simple Digital Clock Widget (just a widget to set a clock on the homescreen, but i like it)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=milk.digital.clock
Headsup notification (you want notifications on your screen popping up like on smartphones and tablets? then this app is for you. I have not found an app yet that creates a notification bar, but this one is close)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tifications&rdid=codes.simen.l50notifications
Screen On Off Lock (you can turn off the screen by using app, it takes off the pressure of your on/off hardbutton)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock
Get access to all the android settings
Settings Search - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.katzoft.settings.search.full

These stats are differant then my LEMFO LEM4. I only have 600Mb free in internal memory, and that space is fulled up easily with stock apps and updates. There is about 2gb free in media. Seems that yours is differantly partitioned
Thanks for the info. I'll stick to Nova but agree on most of your choices and used most of them already, but not virtual softkeys, going to try that. I use 'Neon Clock' on homescreen (has a few issues but I like it).
More applications do not well-behave on the tiny screen (320x240, same as very first PDA: XDA(!) from O2), like Pujie black watch (only wear watchface designer with homescreen widget option). Apparently not all programmers check on pixel-dimensions at startup. Also -like in titanium backup- some pop-ups and message boxes do not let you scroll down to the OK or Cancel buttons, so you can only backup.
I guess nobody saw a return to smaller pixel-size coming, and this 'watch' will hopefully get more pixels and less thickness in the future.

The "solution" to the small screen resolution and trying to get past certain startup screen is the following :
Install on your LEM4 Ultimate rotation control. And force it to portrait mode.
https://play.google.com/store/search?q=ultimate rotation control&c=apps
Then install Resolution changer and with the forced portrait mode you get passed the startupscreen of resolution changer.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.zuim.resolutionchanger&hl=nl
In resolution changer , change only the DPI (let the screen resolution stay at maximum 320x240). and lower the DPI number. This wil zoom out the screen and will let you pass all of the apps startup screens you come across. The only problem i had with this app is that when the keyboard pops up, it isn't properly zoomed out. But be carefull with this app, if you accidently zoom in, you can get into trouble.
This is how i UNROOTED my LEM4 (i sold my LEM4 in original condition and i ordered the android 5.1 version). If you don't use resolution changer, you are unable to uninstall rootking (and unrooting it)

Hi,
Where did you find the 5.1 version? Any obvious differences or advantages besides the newer OS?
I got around the DPI issues with Xposed and App Settings module. I used KingoRoot when I first rooted the watch, but i have since factory reset and used RootKing this time around. The only thing that worries me is how much space it uses. I looked in settings and it using 99mb of storage space! I have no idea why it's using that much besides those extra built in Purify apps which do not show in the uninstaller so I cant remove them. Compared to the 10 or so watches I already have, I really like this watch so I'm trying to make it work in spite of its shortcomings. The battery life alone makes up for it.
I'm using Nova launcher right now. I'm going to give smart launcher a shot and report back. If you don't want to use any 3rd party launchers you can use the stock launcher then install SwipeStatusBar to get your notification pull down. Still haven't figured out how get a static statusbar though. I also installed PIE controls in the GravityBox Xposed module so I can swipe in from the corner of the screen to get my PIE controls like a menu, recent apps, and home button.

The LEM4 is also known as the DM98. But the DM98 comes in two versions. Android 4.4 and Android 5.1. You can find a list of them here :
https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesal...AS_20161221092427&SearchText=dm98+android+5.1
There are different brands selling these. I ordered the TTLIFE one.
It seems that not a whole lot is different between the two android versions. I guess that the FunOS launcher stayed the same. But i hope that it gives me even more better battery life. In the comments section of the LEM4 review on the Smartwatch Ticks youtube channel there was someone who had the android 5.1 version and from what i can tell there could be a chance that the app space on the DM98 (Android 5.1 version) is bigger then the LEM4. But I will only be sure when i recieve it (probably within two weeks or so).
The static status bar is also something i couldn't find. I tried a dozen apps but they didn't work.
The PIE control app looks a bit like omni swipe... I hope to get my DM98 soon.
Did you know: tapping repeatedly on 'Build Number' under 'About Watch' is settings will open up 'DEVELOPER OPTIONS'?

Did u you ever get the DM98 Android 5.1 version?

Hi,
Did u ever receive your DM98?
I got my TTLIFE 2016 DM98 which I ordered on the 1st of December. According to CPU-Z this is running Android 4.4 so I'm not sure about the 5.1 version that everyone is expecting. The partitioning seems better as I have around 700 MB for applications even though I have installed some already.
Many kenzo users are now in the final stages of using the device, but, for people like me who are planning to use it for some time more, I will be giving certain tweaks which I used and the combination I prefer for best battery life. Keep in mind that this might (will) slow down your phone a bit. I was getting a sot of not more than 4-5 hr. prior to this combination and now I do get a sot of 6-7 hrs. easily.
ROM and kernel Combination- RR by Movzx + Agni 11.5
1) After coming on this combination, flash magisk and download greenify module.
2) Greenify (will be preinstalled on RR MOVZX) all apps having network usages in background ( don't greenify apps like whatsapp, snapchat )
3) Download force doze and turn it on (whitelist apps such as whatsapp, snapchat, basically the ones who's notifications are required by you)
4) Download Spectrum app and turn on battery mode (will slow down performance)
5) Block Nlp Collector wakelocks from settings- configurations- miscellaneous- wakelock blocker
6) Block google alarm wakelock and location detector from settings- configurations- miscellaneous- alarm blocker
7) Purchase any app ( like EXKM) from playstore to monitor battery usage (OPTIONAL)
8) Under Miscellaneous- suspend actions, block location services as soon as device turns off to prevent idle drain.
9) Turn Adreno Idler on from any kernel manager app ( use Agni's ) and turn cpu small and big governer's to glassfish (optional)
THESE STEPS SHALL PROVIDE YOU THE JUICE YOU NEED. PLEASE TELL ME IF I SHOULD ADD ANYTHING ELSE AS MANY USERS ARE CONSIDERING CHANGING BATTERY'S EVEN THOUGH SUCH TWEAKS CAN HELP UP TO A GREAT EXTENT
