Hi guys, I cannot seem to root my tab either with the z4 root via recovery mode as it always states my sd card fails to mount.
I tried using superoneclick and it either fails or ends up not responding.
Can anyone tell me what I might be doing wrong or if more information is required please tell me.
Thanks.

So let me start this off by saying that I am completely new to this rooting business. I have already tried searching but haven't been able to find a solution to my problem. I have a mytouch 3g and I have made sure not to update it to 1.6. After copying flashrec, the CM recovery, image as well as the latest cyanogen mod onto the phone I was able to install flashrec using Linda file manager. In the videos I have seen, after backing up an image of the phone an option is supposed to pop up to flash cyanogen recovery 1.4, however for some reason my flashrec is not able to read or recognize the file and that option is not available to me. Please help

so can anybody help, I was told that this forum was the right place to ask...
did you type in the correct path to the recovery image?
/sdcard/name_of_recovery_img.img
and is it on the root of the sd card? rename it to something supereasy make sure you type it out and put the "/sdacrd" first
Hello and thanks in advance for any help!
I am A NOOB, at the whole android software/rooting/unbricking.
So I am having issues while unbricking my currently bricked tablet, the way it goes is it will get a quarter way through recovery mode and then the entire process stops and I get the caution sign inside the triangle.
I have the update.zip file on my sd card, but unable to mount the image and boot files on the internal SD, so they are also on my sd card.
Startup reads Secure Boot: Image LNX checksum Fail!
So what I'm asking for is a way out, to even go back to stock would be fine with me, with no attempts to go on with systems I am unfamiliar with.
Any help is appreciated so much, currently deployed for the Air Force. So computer access is limited, and all I have is my bricked tablet. So if I am slow, I appologize.
How did you brick it. Do you have a external SD card?
Originally tried to root it.
Silly me, I really didn't know what I was doing, and long story short, Im bricked.
Yes I do have an external SD Card.
There is a thread in the development section about fixing checksum errors. Read it.
just rooted my huawei videos x1 before and all I have done with root is use a CPU frequency program so far, I found it extremely hard to install clockwork mod recovery so i could not try any roms I'd love to try new roms if anyone can help a new user out, and yes I've read heaps of tutorials to no avail.
I also have an Acer a501 which i would love to root and over lock, and possibly try some new roms too, except I have no idea how to root this! When i rooted my ideos x1 all I had to was download an update.zip and load it through power and vol up button, but I can't find anything like that for my Acer :/, also I have heard you need an sdcard to gain root access, my phone has a SD but for my Acer I don't because there is no need for me it has 32gb internal, and I really don't want to go buy a SD just to root my tab, thanks for the hefty read and all help will be appreciated, by the way my acer has android 3.2 on it and I do have the 3g model (501)

Only problem is it says have a SD card, please help
If you are on android 3.2 or above .
you can not root .
you have to use the Downgrade to root procedure.. there are a few threads in this forum on how to to do so. I believe people are saying the best method is in a thread by Timmy Dean.. Its Not super hard . but will require you to connect your tablet to your Computer with usb.
just look for his forum or do a google search on downgrade to get root .. or something similar... this is the ONLY WAY
Goodluck and fallow instructions. IF you dont understand them Dont do it..
But I need to know if a SD card is required to root an android device. Thanks

Not on an ACER a500 if that's what you're rooting.
Thanks Timmy. Could you link me to a thread that was made by you. The person above me said you made it

Why not use the sd card out of your phone for the initial procedure? You don't need to keep the sd card in there after you install cwm, its only used to downgrade to unstable 3.0.1 which you will re-flash over after you have rooted and installed acer recovery app...
Just a thought....

If you have 3.1, you should be able to root without an sd.
If you have higher, check TimmyDeans thread about root from 3.2 and 3.3.1
You will have to install iconiaroot.apk manually. Download from your tablet. Use your file manager to install.
You can download acer recovery from the market and install your version 3 recovery from Thor..
Now, if your phone has a micro SD (doesn't matter if it;s 1gb, 2gb or whatever, you will need to insert it in your tab. You DO NOT need a 32gb sd card. Most 2 or 4gb cards can be found in the garbage outside of any carrier shop. 2gb cards are about 2$.
All you need to do, is download the version 5 or 6 recovery from tegraowners. (not the 7.1 version) Boot to recovery, Select Zip from SD, select the ver5 update, and install it.
This allows, Flash from Internal Memory, Flash from SD, and Flash from USB Flash stick.
Hi guys, I'm not sure what I have done wrong here.
I am not new to rooting and flashing so have already checked Google ETC for a solution for this but I cant seem to get it fixed.
I was rooting my nexus 7 the other week and ended up in a situation where I have no ROM on the tablet, I cant mount in recovery and I can only get to the bootloader and recovery - I did have slimkat on there but it aborted installation each time i tried to flash so thinking that it must be corrupt, i formatted the SD card - wasn't the smarted move I made as no I have NOTHING on the SD card at all and can't seem to get anything on there.
I'm not sure if this is a problem with the bootloader, if it is I am unsure of what to do because the only one I cant find is 4.23.
If anyone could give me some hints of how to get around this or push me in the right direction that would be much appreciated.
Cheers guys!|
FIXED!! I don't normally like doing it but desperation pushed me, I used wugfesh toolkit and everything is fine now Cheers

about a month ago i updated my phone to android M and soon discovered that i cannot move apps to SD card, so i rooted my phone expecting that there will be a chance that i can use link2sd to move apps to SD card but that didn't work out too. in the the process of rooting it was required to install TWRP to get the proper root access hence i installed it. Now my phone is slower than it was ever before.. it takes a century to click a photo or to open any app hence i decided to go back to lolipop and i performed a hard format using TWRP on internal memory of my phone and forgot to keep a backup of any files.. now when i try to turn on my phone it gets stuck in bootloop (not sure if that's what it is called - gets stuck on the ASUS logo and stays there for eternity ) or whenever i use the fastboot to load boot.img file it says - "can't load invalid boot image". i can't even install the stock ROM as TWRP wont allow me to do so and i cant go in sideload mode or stock recovery of my phone as TWRP is not allowing that too.
Still i can see my phone in the file explorer and access internal and external memories both normally but my Phone is not turning on.
is there anything i can do to fix my phone...???
please help..!!!!
