Hey guys, My girlfriend has the A500 and we are struggling to get it to connect to my rooted Nexus S over the wifi AP built in the rom. The phone works fine with my laptop. Any ideas?
What os do you have on the phone and on your a500? I've been able to tether via wifi from my nexus s on Gingerbread and ics to my a500 on honeycomb and now ics. Are you using the right password ?

Honeycomb on the tab and ics on the nexus. Yeah, password is fine.

You need to mod the ad-hoc wifi file on the Acer a500 tablet if you have it rooted. if not you can try pda.net app. i HAVE not use the pda method so have no knowledge .

I posted a guide at the thread above on how to enable this.
Good luck.

I'm thinking about picking one of those up for myself. I see the A200 has root now, just waiting to see if it gets a custom recovery.

I want to root my Transformer, but I don't like to stray too far from standard (as things get broken very easilly), and they have silly boot animations and other crud. Anyone made a stock 3.1 that is ****JUST**** rooted? Nothing else hacked about?
Yeah there's one, look in the "Keep root with 3.1?" thread

No root method for 3.1 as of now so you'll need to downgrade to 3.0.1 (.9).
Root than flash the 3.1 rooted rom

Downgrade to 3.0.1 and root. Then use custom update above to upgrade to 3.1.

Yes. Although I don't see why you would want to go back to 100% stock.
Never said I was going back...its always good to have an option if ever needed though.

To each their own, I prefer stock. I can customize it anyway I see fit anyways...

I'm guessing this is a US ROM. This is almost EXACTLY what I was after!, the bare minimum. But anyone done this for the WW ROM?
What are the differences between US, WW and TW ROMS?

Eh ,i'll forgive you as long as you click the Thankxx button

We don't have R800x (CDMA model) kernel sources so we can't make custom ones.
Wireless tether works on the R800x stock kernel. Just need to be rooted. There is a post on here somewhere with a dl link and instructions. Im too lazy to look for it, but a simple search will find it.

it supports only ad hoc mode but it does work. You have to set your device profile to nexus one in the wireless tether app.

Noticed it with the newest update. It still says no official support, but it will ask if you have recovery 3.x.x or 2.x.x installed. Maybe next update we'll get a lil' more love!
Yeah it reconized the tablet as a TF101 and ask to confirm it.

it means koush officially supports the device for recoveries. And now we won't have n3wbs asking "how do i flash a recovery image". But since the recovery image requires an SDcard we'll see "why isn't the recovery sticking".
It almost means that we'll start seeing, and having the options to download ROMs directly via the ROM manager.
Has any one flashed recovery from new (updated) ROM manager
I'm still on Team Rogue's CWR and refuse to leave it. It's CWR 5, CWM seems to only allow you to have version 2 or 3 at the time it seems.
This isn't TF101 specific. Changelog just states that support has been added for any generic device that has unofficial recoveries
Sent from my HTC Vision using xda premium
It identifies it as a TF101.
The application is probably configured to simplely grab that information from the device and print it as the output when you select the install clockworkmod recovery.

I know, it just uses the build.prop. Any unsupported device has this now too.

Exactly, this does not mean we have incoming CM9 nightlies.

Rezound is unsupported, and it recognizes it, ADR6425, so it's definitely just a build.prop thing.
Unrelated, but does anyone know if the cyanogenmod team has one of these?

It would be nice, but as stated. Someone from the devteam would need one to test on.
It does seem odd that it would allow you to flash recovery, when it wasn't supported.

It doesn't let you flash anything, it just lets you tell it that you are running an unofficial CWM recovery

I was just over on the CM site and be does say in a post that support for the Transformer is planned. That makes me happy in the pants, Revolver is pretty sweet but I loves me some Cyanogen.

Ah, you're right.
On a side note. ASUS did a pretty good job of not over bloating the TF101. A rooted ICS would be fine with me. But CWM is awesome to fix permissions, reboot to recover, etc. It'd be nice to have.
Sorry if I got anybody's hopes up.
Does anyone know of a rom that has the ability of pen testing wifi? Or if not, a good or rom that offers good performance and that would be able to loop backtrack?

you can run backtrack 5 natively or chroot it but even if you do the pentesting abilities such as aircrack-ng wont work theres an app for dosing in the marketplace to test wifi strength ;( I've tried workarounds but hadn't fount one
any rooted rom pretty much will allow you to run Ubuntu or backtrack 5 natively but you have to sacrifice your recovery as for now I'm currently running the latest Ubuntu natively and its not bad not a PC experience but not bad at all

I had mine rooted before I took the update. The files I used were for honeycomb only. Im almost positive itll come with honeycomb out of the box. I cant remember exactly where I found it at. Just google how to root droid xyboard 8.2 and look around. Mine was a one click root. If you have android 3.2.2 on your xyboard when you get it root it before you take the ota for ics. Then download ota rootkeeper from the market to temp un root. Then take the ota and restore the root. Ill look on my computer and see if I still have the files and post if I do.

Use the razr404 method to root ICS on xyboard or u can use the adb restore exploit. Google with find both methods with instructions

Got my Xyboard 8.9 yesterday and rooted it today. Nice little tablet, can't wait for an over clocked kernel. Great accessories (dock and folio) make this much more useable than my Galaxy Tab 8.9. All in all I'm very pleased with everything.

Thanks! I've been looking for this.
And also thanks to the guys that talked about the root on an ICS-flavored XYboard.
Probably a bit controversial but I personally would recommend App2zip over titanium Backup.
A. It's free.
B. It packages your backup into a flashable zip you can flash right after installing the rom.
C. It's quite a bit faster both backing up and restoring than titanium.
