Well, just bought my 6800 from ebay, this seller:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/280803711139?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Then I flashed another a custom rom (this one) and now I'm in a boot loop (com.android.phone FC).
It's from Singapore. Can't tell which is the Stock ROM for it in the Development section. Which one is it?
Seems to be the MM1...hope so.
One of my tabs is a pre-release version and I got that same error when I flashed the same ROM. I honestly think that dev is stabbing around in the dark a bit.
I hope you made a Nandroid backup before you started tinkering around with new ROMs....
Nope, no nandroid backup. Completely forgot that.
Im so stupid...still waiting on another rom to download, hope it wont brick it.

Guys,
I am interested in rooting my Telus Hero, but I am wanting to know if there is an original ROM image available for the Telus variant so that I can restore the phone to factory configuration if I need to. I mainly want to do this to install the Google Turn-By-Turn Navigation on it.
Thanks,
Y2J
just do a nandroid backup of your telus rom before flashing...
In order to do a Nandroid backup I have to root the phone first correct? If this is the case, then there is no way to unroot the phone to it's default out of box state, correct?
Thanks,
Y2J
Not quite correct, but close enough so as not to matter.
You don't need to be rooted to run Nandroid, but you do need to boot a custom recovery image. On earlier stock ROMs, it was possible to boot a recovery image without flashing it do the device, but this probably isn't an option for you since I guess the Telus Hero has the new SPL which disallows this.
What you really need is an original Telus RUU, but I'm not aware if this publicly exists.
Regards,
Dave
That's correct, there's no public Telus RUU.
If you really want a Telus stock ROM to revert to, wait till the eclair update comes out.
@y2jdmbfan
I was in the same boat as you. Wanted to use custom ROM but always wanted to have to option to go back to stock Telus ROM. I lasted a little over a month and bit the bullet. To be honest, if you are comfortable with customs roms and general phone hacking then I don't think there's a need to wait. There are some good stable custom roms out there and I don't see a need to ever go back to stock Telus (unless you need warranty work perhaps? but not sure).
I may bite the bullet tonight and try it out. I am using mine on AT&T in the USA anyways, so warranty work is out of the question.
To be honest, if you've flashed a custom ROM and you phone does go wrong, in order to get it back to stock your phone would need function to such an extent that you could load an RUU on to it - if it was completely dead or the USB died, it wouldn't matter if you had an RUU because you wouldn't be able to install it anyway.
Regards,
Dave

Just do it.
I have mine running on Rooted 2.73.405.66
Everything stock except it was rooted. Works great.
Hey, how did you root it on the stock?
Did you need to downgrade RUU?
I know I had too... could you make a ROM for all the people that want the stock..
If you want to go back to Telus 2.1 here's the link to the rom:

I would recommend reading everything in this thread. yes you can revert back to stock after flashing new ROMs. I highly recommend doing research before you start...that means searching. All the answers you will need are contained within existing threads.
Yes, you can restore the original ROM. In the guides to root it tell you to make a nandroid backup. That'll let you restore the original ROM.

It may brick your phone if you are on different radio version.

Thanks to all and that is exactly what I was looking for. I have done some mods with a Tilt in the past but nothing with my Hero. Now to choose a ROM that still lets the Sprint Navigation work - don't care about most of the other apps that came with it.

just about any of the roms out there have a working sprint nav.
Is there a downloadable Nandroid Backup of the stock Evo rom or any other rom out there somewhere? I saw that someone did it for the Stock Nexus S rom but I don't think that'd work on my Evo. I'm asking because I dug up my old Evo that is stuck on a Fresh boot loop and I'd like to try to fix it. I tried a factory reset but that didn't work, nor can I flash new roms so I'm pretty much stuck without a Nand Backup.

Yea, use that link to get a stock rom, NOT a stock nandroid backup. NEVER use a nandroid backup from another evo, it's just asking for trouble.

ESPECIALLY a Wimax Image as those RSA keys are disabled the second they get the phone back.

Thanks, that is a great link. Could you point me to a link on how to flash a Sprint EVO 4G with a stock ROM. I have a phone that I would like to get to it's original state, but I have never flashed one of these before.

Thanks a lot! I'll give this a try.
I rooted via gfree method some time ago. Now I'm running the rooted GB image available here. I've also already flashed the latest radio provided by T-Mobile (from the radios thread in the dev forum). This morning I got an update message from T-Mobile.
Will it automatically apply if I download it. I'm assuming it is nothing I'd want but it'd be nice to see what it is and try to figure out why it'd be getting pushed to me? Or maybe it is coming from HTC. Anyway, worried that selecting it will cause a download and unroot my phone.
I wouldnt recommend accepting it. It will unroot your phone!

It likely won't install anyway. My wife had my phone when the update notification came though and tried to install it, but it wouldn't go.
She handed the phone back to me with a scary triangle exclamation mark thing on the screen (Is there a proper name for that?).
Anyway, there is an error when you try to install and it won't go, so it's pointless to try either way.
I deleted it and am looking to install a rooted updated version of stock GB.
Thanks much folks. That was pretty much what I thought.
Yea, this happened on my dad's phone.
All you have to do is download this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384791
Then make a backup of your current stock GB rom in recovery, then full wipe, flash the updated rom, and then restore data from your recovery backup.
Did this on my dad's phone a few days ago and it's working fine.

Haha, i have the bad emmc too, but like i said in another thread, I approach things with an IDGAF attitude cause you'll never know til you try. Lol
Does anyone know where I could get the stock ROM for a 3 UK handset? They are replacing the handset on Tuesday and I need to restore it to stock. Foolishly, I never did a nandroid of the original ROM. Thanks.
