Hi Guys,
New to the world of pda phones - using my first one now, so excuse if this sounds like a silly question.
I would like to know is it possible to adapt the Radio ROM of a Gene to act as a FM Radio receiver???
How come there are pda phones with FM Radios built into them?
Seen forums recommending SDIO card add-ons for FM radio applications, but thts an accessory.
I would like to know if this can be done and if yes how pls
fm radio is analog signals around 100Mhz cellphones recieves digital signals around 800Mhz->1900Mhz software cant change that....
I was wondering if it is possible to use the FM chip in the phone and use it as an FM transmitter (like the n97)
I'm interested in hearing your thoughts.
Basically no.
For a start, you'd need a chipset capable of transmitting via FM as well as receiving. Just because you can do one, it doesn't mean you can do the other.
Even if the chipset is capable, for it then to work, it'd need to have the necessary drivers installed, which is maybe doable.
It'd also then need an antenna attached to the transmission pin-out on the chipset, which is extremely unlikely to be in place.
So technically it might be possible but in reality it's not - unless SE just happen to have built a fully-functional FM transmitter into the Arc and just forgotten to activate it...
Anyone or any of the custom roms manage to get the FM Transmitter working ?
We know the chip supports it and the necessary parts are available.
Any progress on this?
Thanks~~!

Same question in 4 days....
Still the same answer and you are 100% wrong.
hi, sry i am not very good at phone but how can i listen to radio on the galaxy s4 ? without using the web based radio, are there any accessories that can help. tq
There isn't a fm radio build in. So webbased radio's are the only option

You can't! S4 don't have FM Radio. End of story.

Any chance that Samsung just disabled it at software level and it can be enabled again by some hack?
I actually don't care very much about FM*radio itself, but TMC/RDS for GPS is handy feature.

Very unlikely.
When rooted my FM app "works" on the BCM4335 on the GT-I9500 but shows RSSI as always 0.
Most likely the FM antenna pin is grounded/disabled, just like it is on the majority of devices these days. They also show 0 RSSI.
Still not giving up . If it is grounded chances are that it can be un-grounded and connected to earphones as it should be. Well, if it is physically accessible, somebody can identify it on the board among a lot of tiny stuff, and somebody wants to violate one's warranty.
Sony MW600 stereo bluetooth earphone with FM radio is the right companion for a Galaxy S4.

@cool4bharat: Buy a MP3 player with a built-in radio. That's the only accessory that will let you listen to the radio without using the Internet as the S4 does not have a radio. And before you ask, there is no way in firmware to "turn on" the radio nor are there any accessories which will help.
Hi all......on the 8th January, I upgrade to an S5. From what i've heard, the S5 doesn't offer an FM radio, does this mean simply that the app isn't included, or that the hardware won't support it? In other words, can I flash Spirit FM and receive traditional broadcasts, or do I have to rely on internet streaming? Thanks in advance for the answers........Keith
I believe only the Sprint variant has the capability of FM radio (insure about international versions). It's a hardware thing, so you'd need to rely on Internet streaming without it.
