the 7.7 utilizes no "s-pen" like the note(s), you will have to use a capacitive stylus (which will work on all capacitive screens more or less)!
some rumor here says that our atmel display controller is able of a more precise mode (via a future software update) with an "active stylus", which allows precision down to 0.25mm and 255 screen-pressure values!

Yes.. and thank you..
while this is all true.....
How to open the picture in such a way which would bring up the editing feature that allows use of a stylus??

Moving zoomed pictures

Hi All,
I have found the option to zoom into pictures. You can use the round button to zoom, but it seems not possible to scroll or move through the picture.
I can only see a fixed part of the picture. Any suggestions?
Thanx in advance
Robert
Use hardware cursors to move around.

You have to first keep your finger for a few seconds on the screen, then the pan control will show up.
Surur
Thanx guys, I will try this.
u can also use ur finger moving clockwise 2 zoom in and otherside 2 zoom out ^^

No pan and drag on zoomed pics????

Surely not. I zoom in on a photo using circular gesture but i can not drag the photo to see all of it while zoomed. Am I missing something????
Yes, you are.
Long press the pic and enjoy.
Yeah this took me ages to work out too!
Don't click and drag. Click and hold the stylus on the picture and after a sec or two you get a little window appear that shows where you are on the picture. then you can drag around
Thanks guys for informing....I also thought that it was not possible on HD ...
Thanks again
There's this thing called a "manual".
Comes in handy sometimes

Picture rotate gesture in Album

I wonder why noone has noticed that problem yet, so I'm creating a new thread.
HTC has removed the rotate gesture from the Album. They say it's because there is a G#Sensor now.
But that's bull****. Just think: What happens if you rotate the device because the orientation of a picture is wrong?
The picture rotates also, because of the G-Sensor, and it's wrong again.
That's VERY annoying! Is there any Album version (perhaps from Diamond) where the rotate gesture is still there?
I experienced what you mean for the first time today and didn't know what was going on.
For those who don't know what we are talking about......
This only happens when you take a picture with the lens looking straight down (for example when taking a picture of a page in a book). If you were to hang the book on the wall and take a picture of it, you would not have this problem. Test it for yourself, so you see what we mean. Take a picture of your keyboard standing directly above it. Or try one of the ceiling directly above you. Now go to your album and view the picture of the keyboard. Rotate your phone.
The annoying solution after having taking a picture like this is to hold the phone upright so the picture is nice and big. Then, carefully set the phone down on the desk and THEN turn it to the side (so the G-sensor won't register the turn).

i cant really get the problem here.. if i take a picture while holding my phone upright it'll look best in portrait mode.. if i rotate it then i'll look smaller.. now if i take the picture holding the phone in landscape. the picture will look small in the default portrait mode and will look nice and big when i rotate the phone..
i cant seem to reproduce your issue here!

When you take the picture - are you pointing the camera straight down at the floor or straight up toward the sky? I don't mean slightly aimed at the floor - I mean the lens needs to point directly down or directly up. That is the only way you will reproduce our issue.

I miss the rotate gesture as well. I took my 'old micro SD' from my 'old' touch dual and put it in my HD. The HD doesn't now 'know' how the pictures are taken so some I like to rotate.. but how can this be done with the HD?

indeed you are right! the problem here is that when you do take a picture this way to Album rotates too.. so the previews are messed up! now if you close the album and open it in portrait mode your issue is fixed!
im not sure about this but before installing apps like gsen, gyrator or mobile magic the album doesnt rotate when you rotate your phone.. only the picture preview does!
someone check it please!

Are you sure? I still have the issue no matter what mode I start the album in. The only solution I have found is placing the phone flat on a table and then turning it so the g-sensor doesn't catch the rotation.
EDIT:
Viewing the pics in slideshow mode and pausing it is also a solution, but annoying.
I took all my pictures normally, not pointing to the floor. Some are alright, some are turned upside down, some are turned to the side.
The camera doesn't get the right orientation, perhaps Gyrator confused the camera. I turned Gyrator off but I often take photos of documents, too and that's just annoying when they have the wrong orientation and I can't rotate them....
manual screen rotation
greetz first to all, you´r doing an amazing job!!!
not really a problem solver but maybe worth trying:
disable picture rotation in gyr2 for album
install aebuttonplus
assign "rotate picture" and "rotate picture clockwise" to button (for example volume up and down, long press)
=> rotate screen when viewing photos as desired!
...have to admit i haven´t tested it yet
S2V is an alternative to HTC Album. Picture rotation is working in S2V, but no zoom because the HD has no DPad
Is there anyway to manual change the picture orientations? Like a picture that has a wrong orientation when you put it on the HD, the auto rotation would mess it up all the time, either view it on the side or makes it so small that it just a waste of the screen estate.
It's a problem I notice a lot when I get photo messages. Most of the time the photo I receive is the wrong way round, and I can't find a way to make it switch round. So I get landscape shots that only show in portrait with big black bars top and bottom and vice versa.
I'm going to try using XN View to manually change the orientation as a workaround. But it'd be nice to have the Rotate Gesture.
Any Updates? This problem has gotten even worse with Dutty's laest ROM...
Is there a way to turn off the G-Sensor for the HTC Album?
Try this cab
With this cab you lose WVGA in the menu (it is annoying but you're still able to use it), but the most important thing is that making a 90º gesture rotates the picture.
In my case I needed a soft reset after installing (my HD freezed just the first time it started up, not the second)
Hope it helps.

Saving a picture of the TV screen takes an eternity!?

Hey guys,
today i took a picture of my LCD-TV screen to show a scene out of a PS3 game to a friend. It took about 2 Minutes to save this picture and even then only half of it was saved? The upper half was normal but the lower half was grey. When i take a "normal" picture saving only takes 1 second...
I made pictures of the TV screen before with my old W960i and there has never been a problem.
Any ideas or could someone try this with his X1 and get back to me?
soft reset, try aggain?
Doesn´t change anything...
then u should try a hard reset. eitehr your software is totaly borked or u might have an issue with your hardware.
honestly ... it sounds more like a hardware issue but try the hard reset first. dont forget to abckup your data
But why does it work with "normal" pictures then? Have you tried it with your phone?
The image will be a too large file due to the lines in your TV. Try dropping the pixels count to 1 or 2mb.
Yes I already thought of that. It works perfectly when I am not too close to the screen. When I´m too close a lot of coloured stripes appear when the auto focus is working and you can see the pixels of the TV.
Even so, my W960i never had a problem with that. I will try dropping the pixels count when I´m at home.
But still...would be interessting if someone of you could try it!

good question!
try deactivating the "verify picture" inside the camera settings.
the Picture should be allready taken after the shutter sound and should just be written to the memory. so its maybe the "verify" function which borks it up and tries to repair it!?
up/downscaling teh qulity (fine, normal economy) could also help if its a problem with teh JPG compressor!?
just made screens of my LCD Monitor. no problems, even autofocus worx great and a distance of 5 cm
did screens of my Plasma at home a few days ago and here was also no problem.
Ok, I will try it! Thanks guys for your help!
Isnt the job of "verify picture" not just to show you the picture you just have taken?
actualy no idea
i just know that some digicam Firmwares have exactly this feature build in. Check if the taken image isnt corrupted and/or fix some colors
just checked it ... it realy only shows u the picture X-D
hey i just tried it (takin a pic of my laptop screen close up with marco mode on) and the pic took about a minute to save and when i checked it, only the top of the screen was saved and the rest of the image was greyed out....and i'm on the touch-it experience v3 rom
So, just disabled the "verify picture" option and it works perfect!

You mean automatic preview of the pic after taking the a shot??
can u please tell me where can i find that option?
where is this verify picture option?
Turn on the camera and press the "wrench" button down right, then press the "arrow down" button down right. Now you have a menu on the left side, select the "Picture&Video" button up left. It´s the third entry in the list.
It is not the same as the "automatic preview" mode!

rotating video

When I do recordings from my front-facing camera I hold it much like I would when I am using the phone; that is, in an upright position.
Is there an app or an easy way to rotate videos by 90° to the right, so that when I upload to youtube it isn't sideways?
thx!
select the pic you want, click on the options button when edit window is displayed, select "image". then you get the edit stuff you are looking for.

That's for a photo.. no rotate option there for video.
Um.....How about holding the camera correctly? Just like a REAL vid camera, the phone is meant to be held sideways (landscape) to film and snap pics.
I THINK you can rotate them with Windows Movie Maker though, I have done it before.
i can't stand when iphone users upload videos held in portrait mode. it makes me want to rip their phone out of their hands and throw it on the ground.
and yes, you can use windows movie maker to rotate them.
