Just thought I would share. - Acer Iconia A500

I have been looking for a new way to keep fingerprints off of my screen. and I have heard rain x worked but I didn't have any, so I tried Meguiars ultimate quick wax. The result is amazing.!!! I can tell a huge difference in the amount of fingerprints on my screen. It also made my screen really smooth like an iPad.
I will take no responsibly if this messes up your tablet, this is purely what I did and it worked. Results may vary.
thanks

another good use for car wax is a quick fix for a scratched [email protected]/DVD. Gonna try this as my tab gunks up after just minutes of use. When playing air attack I put a bit of powder on my finger, lol.

You might want to see if the substance your using is nontoxic. I would hate to see a fellow iconia user fall ill to some chemicals in the wax

It hasn't harmed my screen in the few days that I have had it on my screen. That is also why I put the disclaimer there.

i think the concern is the users health here.

I'm pretty sure the concern is touching your screen then eating a sandwich or biting your nails or something that might cause you to ingest the wax.

Hand Sanitizer, and a good washing is the key. It really helps before you eat.

Hmm, that's pretty clever. I wonder if it would adversely affect a ghost armor screen protector.
Not only that, I wonder how it would fare on my phone with a steinheil screen protector. Rain-x is supposed to be tint safe.

Stuck/dead pixel!

My brand new pad has a pixel that won't show green...running one of the apps that says it fixes that... If it doesn't work, i'm going to see if I can get a replacement.
Just a warning to everyone. Be on the lookout.

I've got a dead pixel as well. Near the top left. Doesn't really bother me that much, so I don't really care. Surely one teeny little pixel doesn't warrant you returning it ...?

I used to think that. But if its been like, 3 Weeks and there's already one dead pixel... What does that say for the possibilities?
Just called Asus - he tried to get me to do a wipe.
Are you kidding me? wipe all my data? Asus - get rid of the spiel, its junk. Get ppl who know whats up on the phones ugh

My first pad had a dead pixel. I found it the second day and returned it as soon as I could. It was kind of in the middle of the screen, and I could see it every time I viewed a white web page. Needless to say, it bothered the heck out of me and had to be returned.
i went through 4 tabs until i got one that was fine display wise. first one had a cluster of discolored pixels, like someone pressed their thumb hard on the screen and damaged the area. the other two each had a couple grains of what looked like sand under the glass. All of these were around the same area on the tab, mid-lower left area of the screen.
Mines mid high right...
I'm worried about an attempted unlocking... I tried to unlock my tab before they fixed the c4okt issues, and im wondering if it might've sent them a file about that... Also wondering if unlocking will void it for a screen issue.

Dead and stuck pixels are far from unique to Asus. There is a difference by the way, a stuck pixel is one that is, well stuck displaying one color, these can sometimes be fixed by programs like you are running and/or gently massaging the area with a pencil eraser or something similar, dead pixels don't display any color and are rarely able to be fixed.

There is one other thing you can try, VERY gently massage the dead pixel with a something like a pencil eraser, that will sometimes get it working.

That's fine and all... but there's a much thicker layer of glass over a capacitive screen than there is over a resistive touch screen... or just a LCD monitor.
Unless I'm missing something here, this advice does not apply anymore.

Don't feel too bad. I just made the mistake of looking at an all black screen on my Acer a510.
NINE stuck pixels!
One little cluster made a shape exactly like the big dipper. Very artistic, with pretty multicolored stuck-pixel stars.
Needless to say I wasn't thrilled. So much for quality control. Sounds like Asus at least isn't this bad.

Just got my mercury screen protector today

Anyone have an tips for putting it on as I've had 0 luck with screen protectors in the past.

Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Crisis averted. Did the ole scotch tape trick to remove the dust particles. That should be in all screen protectors instructions as it works a treat.

Good luck
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
My general rules are (1) try to do it in a humid atmosphere, so there's less dust in the air, eg. a bathroom with a shower running, (2) to wash the back of the protector with water just before applying, and (3) try to fix errant dust motes with tape on the front to peel up a corner, and tape underneath to grab the dust, which it sounds like you've done. Personally I'm a big fan of the Brando ultra-clear protectors. Good luck!
I'm really loving the look of the phone with the colour change but the screen seems to have a kind of static look to it. Hopefully I'll get used to it as the phone looks great

I bought some SGP protectors for my S III. Well one of the kinds I bought was the ultra optics or whichever the the one that resists fingerprints is and it has almost like a texture on the screen which is kind of annoying to look at. I feel like it dulls the whole thing. I may take it off eventually and put the remaining ultra crystal I have from my i747
Really loving this screen protector.
The galaxy's s3 seems to me like it is very prone to scratches.
I always keep my phone in a pocket with nothing in it like keys or money yet I've got some pretty deep scratches on it.
I didnt get anywhere near as much with my s1, s2 or galaxy tab p1000.
Basically this screen is giving me protection and I'd even go as far as to say that it is making the scratches that I've acquired less noticeable.
Feels great too. I'm my opinion better that original screen and you have the added bonus of the anti fingerprint.
Defo recommend this

I use screen protectors on all my devices. After applying the screen protector to my tf300t, I can tell no noticeable change in touch screen response.
Over time, no matter how much you try and baby the device, the screen will accumulate scratches. A screen protector is a good investment IMO.
Sent from my LG-LG855 using Xparent Green Tapatalk 2
for the price they are in englant £3 for 2 its a no brainer, put on well you will never notice its on , thats untill you scratch it , scratch the screen itself the scratch can not be removed remember we dont have gorrila glass
I don't use a screen protector. If I used a stylus frequently I might, but I almost exclusively use my finger. It's a lot easier not to realize there's some potentially damaging grit between a stylus and the screen. A lot less likely between your finger and the screen.

They can last quite awhile. I've had them last on my phone for months.
Another thing as whether or not to use a screen protector, once you see the scratches starting to show up on the protector, you'll be glad that you applied one.

Have you ever turned the screen off and turned it so you can see light reflect off of it. I haven't seen a device yet that didn't accumulate fine scratches on the screen. Those fine scratches build up over a period of time and you will eventually start to notice them. Dust is gritty.
Also, for those once in a blue moon accidents, better to have one on than not. A screen protector is easy to replace. A glass screen is a whole different ball game.

However this device doesnt have Gorilla Glass like that one so i may get a screeny.

I feel like the case is mandatory on this phone. One of my only complaints about it. I wish I could get away from using a case because the size feels so much better that way but it just doesn't feel sturdy enough.
I've got the LG smart window case but I'm scared to use it because people saying it scratches the LG g2 screen

I don't use a case, but I do use a vinyl back and a screen protector. That's the best balance for me of protection and comfort.
I use the Seido kickstand case. It seems thin compared to the Trident Aegis case I had on my Sg2.
Body glove, not worth breaking the phone.

I went with no case for a few weeks had a minor drop ding up the corners and was pissed. So I used the quick window case and then got scratches on my screen around the quick window from little things getting caught around and under the window I guess. Since I got a warranty replacement recently its a case and screen protector just to be safe.

Incipio Brig. No better case out for this phone.
Casemate tough case. Its dope because the rubber wraps over the face just enough to cover the screen protector as well. Looks good and is still slim.
LG G2 ftw
Spigen case and bullet proof tempered glass screen protector. it works. I hit it with a hammer and it did not crack. i used more force and the protector shattered but not my screen
the phone is a bit slippery without a case.
I'll be getting a wood skin thing from these guys as soon as they're for sale. Supposedly by the end of the month. http://toastmade.com/Android.html

tempered glass screen protectors???

Hey forum, I just got a s7 edge and am in the market for a tempered glass screen protector.
I've hit Amazon and ebay, scammed through pics and reviews from customers and it looks like there's little to none that cover the whole screen (edges included) that are durable, adhere well and stick to the screen and if there case friendly that would be nice.... If anyone has any they'd recommend Id appreciate it.

Its to hard make them out of glass because the screen is curved. Ive haven't seen any that have gotten good ratings. A few companies like zagg have them on the way. Zagg invisible shield is my go to protector. I'm sure there are a lot of great protectors I have not tried.

Yes I did and it was a piece of cake to apply. Unfortunately I was stupid and in too big of a rush to put my case back on. I noticed that one corner of my case was hung up and while trying to fix that issue I cracked the screen protector.
I will say that it lined and matched up perfectly no issues with touch sensitivity the edge feature is less responsive. Do to my own stupidity I have another glass on the way.

F that bro. You'll be just spending money on screen protectors. I still have my Zagg shield that I had to literally cut every single corner in, in order for any of my cases to fit properly. Sucks to not have tempered glass I love it but I rather have my edges. Im looking forward to the note 6. Rumored 4000 MAh battery, and two variants. Everyone including myself will take a note with spen and the beauty of the edge screen along with s7 edge features(water resistant/SDcard). Next year there bringing out the BIG GUNS. With foldable phones. Seeing people really liked the edge I believed Samsung is ready now, back when they revealed the concept(S3) it wouldn't be a good idea, now tho im sure they perfected the technology and were ready for what will bring out next.

I got the Taken Screen protector today. Let's just say I feel "Taken". Protector went on ok and that wasn't the issue. It was a fingerprint/palm print/smudge magnet. It was so bad that I thought there was a protective cover plastic on the glass. Sadly there wasn't. There is a thin piece of sticky adhesive around the inside of the glass that is used to adhere the protector to the phone. This made a crinkly sound anytime you pressed where the adhesive was. After 15 minutes, my screen was naked again.
