Option for diacritic replacment in sms is missing - Xperia Arc General

Hello,
when I bought the phone, I have under sms option for lower cost. That means it replaced the diacritic chars like "ě š č ř ž ý" with normal, so one sms was longer. However with new firmwares it's missing and I have no idea why. Is there anybody who have same problem, or solved the problem?

I miss that function too! I believe most people using any other language than English, miss this function.
Try installing SWYPE. Repalcing national characters is embedded there!

Trouble entering special character from hardware keyboard

Hi there,
I 've been using my XDA trion for several weeks now and I must confess, I don't regret switching from Sony. However there is one thing that strikes me as odd: It seems to be a kind of bug that I cannot enter any more special characters (e.g. German umlauts (äöä)) into a note via the hardware keyboard after the note has reached a length of 488 characters (the count might be off by one or two). I'm not quite sure what to make of this, especially since I can
a) still enter special characters with the software keyboard
b) keep inserting special character with the hardware keyboard in the text before the 488th character
Is there anybody out there who knows what to do? Is this a HTC-bug? A O2 bug? A MS bug?
Completely lost,
Bernhard

SMS Counter

Hi everyone
I am looking for any software which count my out going sms
can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance
i thought normally there would be a count of SMSes at the bottom of the sent folder.
Smaato Cost can do this. But I don't like their strange UI which makes their app somewhat sluggish.... but the features are nice. And you can define different targets with different SMS costs ...
pocketAlarm also can count SMS, but there you can't track if it counted correctly also there is no way to define different costs for different target numbers. And I don't like their today plugin as it resized very often for me... and the whole app is too all-in-one for my taste.
As far as I read here, DKToday should also do the job, but showed some problems on Windows Mobile 2005 ... battery drain afair.
Cheers,
-mARKUS
Thank you Mbirt

1. There are the networks for Germany hardcoded. No others possible (from looking at the XML file.)
2. No English translation.
3. Looks like you can't define different SMS-costs per target network.

Actually I dont need cost function,I only need sms counter nothing else,a software which counts my all out going sms
MBirth
I am using DKToday and its doing well, can you tell me how to reset sms counter?
Oh sorry yes the sw is only in German, and for German providers,

and it works fine, i dont use the cost function.

70 Characters Problem

Hello, I have installed ONYX ULTIMATE 4.6 with EzInput 1.5 Keyboard and greek characters, but when I try to write a SMS it allows me only 70 characters per message, while the default is 160. Is there a way, through registry, for example, or by another program, to solve the problem?
Thanks in advance!!!!!
Dont worry, Manufacturing default.
Only in english than it will be 160 charactors.
Even when I type in Chinese, it is 70 charactors too.
If you mix both english and chinese, it will be 70 charactors too.
The best way is to use english completely, so you get 160 charactors.
Thanks Jeremy again for your reply. It is a little bit difficult to write in english since I used to write in Greek. I read in some forums that there is a way through registry that solves that problem, like change the unicode for some letters, or something like that, kinda wired since each letter has its own code. Anyway, if anyone find something please post.

I am not too sure.
You might want to check this out:
http://www.google.com.sg/search?cli...+mobile+hack&sourceid=opera&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
isnt the problem with chinese and greek that their characters are not in unicode (or some standard characterset) and that they have to switch to another (bigger) character set 16byte per char instead of 8
Yeah Yeah.
But I really have to applaud those developers which is able to make it to 160/sms.

SMS bug - WM6.5

FYI:
HTC have confirmed that there is a bug with WM6.5 that shows that you have an unread message, while you clearly don't.
A fix is being prepared by Microsoft.
Never knew about that...
But knew about alarm ringing alarm and notification sound mixed.... and alarm does not stop... in the morning.
Battery additional info reseted to "0" so no historical info there....
No option to light signal for more that 5 minutes (thank god there is a registry tweak for that).
Well. I'll keep waiting.

I am having exactly the same issue and posted it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=579772
Thanks for the update loadstone007...hope both MS and HTC start rolling out fixes for the various bugs in 6.5!

What about the other bugs? Or am I the only one having them:
-Extra blank line between input-box and suggested words-line. Meaning the suggested words-line cross the "send"-button, and when you're picking a word, you accidently push "send".
-TouchFlo/Sense now only shows 160(?) letters in SMS-dialogue. Almost all my sms, in and out, exceed 160, so to read sms now, I have to use the Windows-dialogue(inbox). This was not a problem on WM6.1
-The input box and keyboard overlay the sms-dialogue, so what you see when you write a new text, is NOT the last you recieved, but 2 or 3 messages back in history. The newest ones are hidden behind keyboard, instead of scrolled up.
The weird thing is that these don't seem like bugs, just.. bad construction.

No I dont have these issues, but then again I dont use HTC Sense. Are these Sense related or Windows 6.5 related?

Totally with ya on this one, toth42. I'm having exactly the same issues and think it's Sense rather than WinMo 6.5 itself...

Yea, I'll say it's sense/manila/tf3d, but all the problems occured after the official 6.5 update.
BTW, the one bug, with last SMS's being hidden by keyboard and textbox, is the same in WinMo(inbox). Just check, go to a conversation in your inbox, and whip up the keyboard. The keyboard and text-box takes most of the screen, and what u see above it, is not the last message of the conversation.
They are not bugs, just bad ideas badly implemented i suppose. Yep, the one with send button is driving me crazy

I seem to recall there was a hotfix for this for 6.1, called something like "hotfix for fixing the problem with the extra white line when writing sms"? And still they don't implement the fix in the next version?
Hey guys i got the issue fixed using a little tool to clear the message count. Check this post, and thanks to onthemail:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1519862&postcount=3
Run the program and do a soft reset - wait a couple of seconds and the annoying green message count will disappear. If not, do it all again (run program and soft reset) and it should def work.
Good luck
Cheers

Although I'm not experiencing the exact same problem the topic starter posted, I'm also having a problem with the HTC SMS. When I go to contacts, choose one of my favorites, go to the sms tab and send an sms from there, sometimes the sms doesn't show up in the thread, it just totally disappears from the device. As far as I know the messages are sent to the person, but it's annoying to me to not be able to read back what I wrote.
Anyone familiar with this problem and has a solution for it?
Thanks in advance!
I get quite a few Joke texts sent, but the long ones allways get cut off near the end. Some of them must be 4 or more texts long. I didnt have this problem until i upgraded to win 6.5. I allways miss the punchline is this a known problem and is there a fix or is there i setting i have missed.

It's a bug in WM6.5 unfortunately. You have to go in to Windows messages to see the entire message (as opposed to HTC's sense UI)..it's annoying and i hope HTC come out with a rom update very soon as this is just one of many many bugs and annoying quirks in 6.5. Argh!
HTC Pure Hotfix
While this doesn't address the problems posted inthis thread, I thought that I would just use this existing thread for an FYI. HTC has released a couple of new hotfixes this morning for the Pure and Tilt 2

Have you successfully installed these?
I received "Device not compatable" errors on both files.
Prolly because of LEO ported manila.
Oh well, thanks anyways Denco7.
I have the stock AT&T rom on my Pure and both updates worked fine.
I also have this problem, so annoying! Microsoft need to get a fix ASAP!

T9 doesn't save words

hello,
when i'm writing an sms and i want to add a word to my t9 dictionary, it saves the word for like 5 minutes. Then when i trie to use this word again, my phone doesn't seem to remember it...
does anyone else have this problem?
I am facing this issue too, but in my case the T9 dictionary does not save my words at all (or some of them, i don't know why). Guess it is some kind of bug in Ez Input or HTC messaging. I am not sure tho.
I too am experiencing this until I tried the attached. My saved words are still there after doing soft reset.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577848
Hope this helps.
