CM9 Alpha 1 Out - TouchPad Development

http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18843-releasealpha1-cyanogenmod-9-touchpad/
Alpha 1 Release notes:
We finally have hardware video decode working largely thanks to some help from yjwong. This release is primarily just to get hardware decoding out for folks to enjoy while other work continues. This build does not work with Netflix yet. However, hardware accelerated video decoding does work for Youtube HD and playback of local media. This build still uses the 2.6.35 kernel. The 3.0 kernel is still being heavily worked on and is also the primary focus for development. Don't expect hardware video decoding to be perfect yet. Its half a miracle it works at all on our current kernel.
Similar to the last build I will provide flashable zips to make it easier to switch to lcd density 120 with proper launcher layout. The hardware video decoding will not make it into the nightlies for a few days. There is still some work to do in order to get it merged into repositories and ensure it doesn't break other devices.
Hardware video decoding support. As a result, Youtube HD and 720p and 1080p local media will now be playable. Netflix does not work yet.
Includes touchscreen improvements by Dees_Troy
Now able to enable use of 2D companion core to offload composition

If I remember correctly dalingrin does not want links posted directly to the roms outside of his post on RW. You probably should edit the OP to point to his post instead.
Outside of that this is very exciting news.

Fully correct. Though I am not *this* forums moderator, i request on behalf of the other mods that you respect the devs wishes, and not post direct links to the release. A link to RW is fine.. please take care of this.

Thanks to ca1ne for using the report post button instead of just posting about it. If you see something I can help with, HIT THE BUTTON, I will respond MUCH FASTER to reported posts than waiting for me to see it in a thread.

sorry about that guys, thought he jsut didnt want them rehosted, my bad if i saw your responses earlier i woulda edited them out! Just so excited!

I apologize for that. To be honest I could not remember 100% if it was him or a different Dev and I did not want to be reporting and wasting your time with what may have been a non-issue.

How would I go about doing this?

Just flashed Alpha1 over 0.6.
Mkv doesnt play from gallery.
Loaded MX Player and H/W is greyed out and the video looks pixelated on S/W when it was fine in 0.6

You can either adb pull/push build.prop or go to get the file out of the ROM, edit it, put it back in, and flash.

Did a full wipe and flashed alpha 1.

I got that error the first time I flashed over the a nightly build. I reflashed from a full wipe and didn't receive the error anymore. I think you should just reflash.

Same upgrade path and no error here, but I did wipe my caches and then ran a permissions fix after flashing.
Touchstone charger is working beautifully in Alpha 1, also!

[ORGANIZE] Issues table and rom relevance.

Hi guys,
I think with all these roms coming out, with all these kernels and all the bugs it is time we had a table showing all us the whole picture.
The table should have a first column with all the roms found here and the remaining columns should include the characteristics (ap2sd, ext4, gingerbread, mplah, mplah) and the last columns should show the most important bugs and if they are fixed.. mac address, camera, 720p playback, wakeup lag, mplah, mplah...
If the first column entries (the rom title) are clickable then we can be redirected to the thread of the rom.
This thread could also serve as a poll to the best roms.
Cheers,
F
Sounds like a great idea but also a ton of work and it will need to be constantly updated. If you are willing to make and maintain this I'm sure everyone would be thankful.

All information is freely available, and it is a simple concept to implement.
The only thing that stopped me posting this exact table when the NAND roms first came out is the level of commitment needed to continually update the table with new releases, bug fixes, bug discoveries, version updates..... etc. etc. etc. etc.
Oh yeah, and the fact that THIS exists
::EDIT::
Just seen THIS. Strange how you posted on the day this was started. Typical eh? Post in there and ask if more details can be added by the [OP]

love or hate, thor2002ro's Open Sourced build
Wi-Fi has been fixed.
Bootable CWM .zip has been posted.
Greenscreen flicker issue (related to drivers, fix coming)
Still not stable, obviously.
Source seems to be incomplete like his other works.
Many of the physical interfaces work, from HDMI to radio to vibration - follow header link above to see complete list
GPS, Camera feed, and Audio does not work.
blazingwolf's Soon-to-be Open SourceBuild
Flashable Zip ready
No Wi-Fi
No Source (yet)
Hardware acceleration - green-screen bug caused by hardware accel.
Many hardware parts are not working.
Discuss.
Thor just released an alpha build as a CWM zip!!
Lol

Using Thors now. Why is hardware accelaration not working? Its working in Blazingwolfs. Are these guys not working together/.
Just plugged in Thor's ROM and here are some things I noticed immediately:
No market
When I tried to sideload the market, it said I didn't have an SD card installed, which I do
Color variations, primarily green
Widgets show cell widgets (obviously not needed) as well as the cell '4 bars' in the notification area
Browser speed seemed very fast
Obviously a lot still to do, but a nice start by Thor. I have alpha 7 ICS on my phone and I'd love to stock ICS on the a500. Not really into all the 'bells and whistles' that some devs like to do.

Wouldn't anyone else agree that working on 2 separate ICS builds is a bit counter-intuitive? It shouldn't be a competition to see who has the bigger you-know-what... Why not work together on a single ICS ROM. Put everyone's brain power together to release a single stable build. We've got hardware acceleration working on one, wifi on the other. Vice versa is still broken... It makes sense - just mash them together with what works! I understand it's "a little more difficult than that" but I'm sure there's a way to work together rather than go head-to-head.
Just my 2 cents. I'd contribute to the effort if I could, but this is the best I can say... Good luck devs!

I totally appreciate the work of all the Devs here....but dude just comes across as a douche....like those guys who make all A's in college and look down on ppl just because he makes good grades and then turns around and refuses to help his classmates........
I'm not complaining...
I just personally don't understand the motives.... I thought that this was supposed to be a "community"?
well I tried the open way just now... all the source was open but some douche reported my thread... since I had enough of a headache from working on ICS and from the first time I tried to convince the "mods" of anything... I have no "duty" call towards xda
so now I'm now back to "private dev mode"
And the douche who sent the report can be happy now... thinking he "won" something

Thank you for answering and not being a douche like some people have been....
If I were Thor I would have had the thread closed down aswell. People just don't listen. 1st post in the thread stated if you don't have anything to contribute, do not post, commenting is not contributing.. I read alot of nonsense. I don't need to test an alpha.. Wtf.. Thor will get it figured out.. lovin the v14.2, so I can wait..

I'm really enjoying CyanogenMod 10, although I'm really missing having some of the tablet mode apps from ParanoidAndroid! That said, Google Now is incredible and I haven't encountered many glitches aside from rotation being reversed and LED Torch not being able to be a toggle.

Hmm...I might be wrong, but I thought that this was just a discussion thread. If the devs want to toss their hats into the ring here, that's their choice, but I didn't think that the goal of this thread was to force their hand or make them respond to our issues; I thought it was just to chit-chat about CM10 so that we don't clog up the development thread. From my experience, sometimes yes and sometimes no. A really polished CM9 will speed right past this, but Jelly Bean can really shine here and there, and as the devs complete the ROM I'm sure Project Butter will make it super, super speedy.

The smoothness does seem inconsistent (maybe because of the RAM issues) but it always feels more responsive to touch input IMO. When scrolling for example, it'll stick closer to your finger. And the recents panel comes up nearly instantly. When GPS is fixed, I think it could be a daily driver for me. Google Now is pretty sweet too!

KitKat ROMS - black screen issue solution?

I wanted to throw this out into one of the dev threads for the new KitKat roms under development, but I'm too new to post there. Hoping someone with a little more seniority will post this over there if it is useful...
It sounds like there has been a roadblock with the display drivers for the Glacier and a new version of OpenGL (EGL) required in KitKat, causing black screens in some apps.
If any devs read this, I noticed they appear to have solved the issue over on the "[ROM][21-11-2013] AOSP KitKat 4.4 for Nexus S - alpha Build 3" forum. Its all completely greek to me, but it looks like from the threads that the CM team has figured out a workaround, and it sounds like it may not be phone specific.
Good luck! Thanks to all the devs for being awesome! Particularly Evervolv/elginsk8r, love the Evervolv 4.3, can't wait to update to 4.4!
Moderators, feel free to delete this if it is useless information. It looked positive, but I could be wrong.
Current still not have newer version to fix, So you need reference before update . This version not still stable, it's testing process. I think so!

cdesai and klusark found a patch in the Chromium trunk which fixes the WebView rendering bug on PVR devices and backported it to the Chromium snapshot that's part of 4.4.
