Root access over ADB?? - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

OK, anything over ADB seems to fail on my ROOTED P6800; yes, I'm doing 'su' trying to modify system results in 'permission denied'. Any ideas?

are you sure you are properly rooted? which root packages did you use?

I would ask if you have the proper permissions for the directory you are trying to write to. Some have to be remounted RW.

I cant even get adb to work but at recovery mode, and same, say no permission when i try adb remount, of coz its rooted

yes rooted, only method we have, SU fail over adb says this is not proper root imho.

Is 7.7 unrootable?

What is the log saying in Superuser?
"USB debugging" enabled, right?

easiest would be to download Rom Manager from the market.. install Clockwork recovery with it and then select to install an alternate recovery in (Amon 2.1.1).. worked perfect for me.
edit..
David beat me to it..
can this be done as a pc36img and done through the bootloader?

Check if your rom has "flash_image" in system/bin.
If it does download terminal emulator from the market (free).
Placed the recovery.img on sdcard root
Open terminal emulator
su (enter)
flash_image recovery /sdcard/NameOfRecovery.img (enter)
Reboot into recovery.

Unfortunetly my rom does not have flash_image in that folder. I just checked with root explorer. Is there any other way to get this pushed. I really don't want to load clockwork just to push this. Your help is appreciated

Since you said you have root explorer dl this file flash_image and place it in system/bin.
Then use terminal emulator following the instructions I posted above.

Yes.sorry for not mentioning that...
The original root.zip also installs a version of Superuser that doesn't work with stock ICS. You can go to the Superuser site and download the 3.1.3 ARM zip...that's what I ran when I rooted. Either way!

Nexus 7 4.2.1 root issue

I flashed update 4.2.1 factory image from Google website. And flashed latest CWM recovery and supersuV0.98 both. It goes well for root explorer and Titanium backup apps and so on.
Problem is, I couldn't use "adb shell mount -o remoun, rw /system" on my laptop!Only we could do is by adb shell, then type su to get root to operate system files. It seems system couldn't get completed root! Something must goes wrong... Anybody can help?
I've encountered this issue before. I ended up booting to recovery and doing it there.

I rooted my Nexus 7 with CWM using ADB's sideload feature. I'm using ubuntu linux with fastboot and adb at my fingertips. I simply typed in this
adb sideload (filename.zip) (Be sure to navigate to where the .zip su is located.)
example: sudo ./adb sideload supercwm.zip (Sudo on linux gives root permissions and the ./ runs the specific program in the current location)

Not 100% sure, but I think you can use the flash tool to put the old image on, root it, and either flash a non-stock rom or use Titanium Backup to freeze the update app and prevent it from re-updating. You can do a Titanium Backup of your apps first so you don't lose quite everything in the reflash (but be sure to move it to your computer, I think the stock reflash wipes out everything).

Ok, I finally got around to trying it (wasn't sure if I was going to keep the G2 or go for S4, but G2 it is. I installed the LG drivers (https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_nizg6yUZ0NWnp5b2U2VkxKbFE/edit?usp=sharing) and followed the instructions line for line, didn't have any problems. Titanium seems to be working Ok for me. If adb isn't working, it's probably a configuration issue on your computer.

I used freegee to flash 2.6.3.3. Unfortunately, the version listed is 2.6.3.0 after doing so. I then used Flashify to flash 2.6.3.3, but I received an error and it turned to black. how did you upgrade from 2.6.3.0 to 2.6.3.3?
Sorry I miss spoke. The version of TWRP I have is 2.6.3.0. that I downloaded from freegee. If it's not working I'd try again as I did not do anything special and make sure the file name matches the flash version. I hope this helps. I am on ATT by the way.

[ROOT][RECOVERY][ALL IN ONE] Cf-Autoroot-twrp-T700/705/800/805/Tab S- UPDATE 23/4/15

Updated CF-autoroot with latest Supersu binaries and combined TWRP recovery for SM-T800/SM-T805/T700/T705 Exynos only, Lollipop and Kitkat
I've noticed that quite a number of people seeking to root their device also flash TWRP afterwards, seeing as it's unnecessary to do both steps I have made an all in one package to root and install TWRP recovery.
Cf-autoroot has been updated with the latest Supersu binaries and TWRP has been updated with my fixed version (ADB root shell and Download mode fixes).
UPDATE - I have updated all versions with new builds. TWRP is now v2.8.6.2 and now includes the fixes recently pushed to their repo for encrypted backups. I have also addressed the slow wipe issue, cache, system, etc., which some have experienced and should now be much quicker.
Each device now has it's own build, this is to ensure that TWRP recovery build properties reflect the device it's installed on. ROMs such as CM12 should now install without issue.
Feedback is welcome.
Simply flash with ODIN. Odin 10.6

UPDATED TWRP:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3074633
NOTE: It is important to boot to recovery after flashing or twrp may not stick and will be replaced with stock recovery.
When flashing uncheck auto reboot in Odin, immediately after flashing manually reboot and boot into twrp.
Manual reboot is POWER + HOME +VOL DOWN then as soon as the screen goes blank immediately change to VOL UP whilst still holding the other buttons.
Credits to chainfire for his great work.

After using the app with odin, root checker indicates that "Root access not properly configured or granted".
Root question comes up but can not check the box to allow.
Had an issue like this on a different device and it was corrected when I changed to ART, but do not know where it is in 5.0.2?
Just tried TWRP, and it is allowed.
