[Q] Droid X - No Flash/Adobe?

Umm...so, my friend just got a Droid X yesterday and he let me play around with it. I currently have an Omnia i910. I'm able to watch videos at Liverpoolfc.tv without a problem using SkyFire on my OMNIA; however, I went to the same site and tried watching the same video on the Droid X and it doesn't work.
So....wtf? I thought the droid was supposed to be a lot better than the Omnia? I'm thinking of getting the Droid in October, but if it can't even play the videos that my Omnia can play then forget it.
Anyone have any insight on this? I keep hearing about Droid 2.2 which I don't really know a whole lot about. Will Droid 2.2 fix the flash/adobe issue? Will that phone allow you to watch videos that older phones can watch?
HELP - and thanks for any answers you guys give. ...and before you scold me, yes I searched the forum, but couldn't find anything or anyone complaining about not being able to watch videos.
Android 2.2, froyo, has flash with it, when his updates it'll be able to play flash videos

Did you try watching the video on the same browser your Omnia was using? Were you using the Skyfire browser or the stock browser?
And yes- when Android 2.2 is released for the X you will be able to watch video from the stock browser. If it ever gets released. You see -it really doesn't matter how great the device is- if you are running Android 2.1 or older -you won't have flash support. But there are some other things to consider...
Does the Omnia have a...
1ghz processor
8g on board memory
4.3in display
pinch to zoom
8MP camera with dual led flash
Capture HD 720p video
HDMI out
I myself am stuck on the HTC Imagio right now and would love to have a phone with these specs. There is always Skyfire until 2.2.
Ahhh....that makes perfect sense. Such a simple mistake. I use Skyfire to watch the vids on my Omnia. I was just using the regular browser on his Droid X. =)
Thanks for the help! Much appreciated!
I can watch video right off the daily show website now thanks to 2.2 with the stock browser. Droid x is the best phone out right now. Get it you wont regret it.

You can update with the leaked 2.2 right now so you'll have flash support. I'm running it and now the droidX is hands down the best android phone available imho

check out my evo gaming video

i made a video at work the other day and i thought i would share.
youtube muted my audio so i uploaded it to my facebook page.
i have 3.29 stock sense rom and kernel.
its my first video editing experience and its definitely not polished in any way, but i still think its good enough to share here.
basically i run through some games that i like and added a bit of tunes. some of the games show the potential for android gaming on the evo, and some are just fun.
the music has a bit of many genres but "PARENTAL ADVISORY: CONTAINS EXPLICIT LYRICS.
let me know what ya think, if i get alot of feedback maybe ill make more stuff like this and spend more time on it. the sky really is the limit.
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=459830833236&comments&ref=mf
oh, meant to mention, the video that i made is smooth and the video that plays from the link gets choppy from time to time as if my evo is having a hard time with the games, it really just is the video coming from facebook that is choppy not the evo.

Poor quality video with Flash since the update 3.1

Do or problem as well ?
Some streaming site worked well with 3.0.1
...and now the video is degraded with 3.1
I got same problem. Now flash movie on web site not run smooth as 3.01.
my personal experience is the opposite, like no question here at all, on 3.0.1 i would get stutters and laggy playback, and since the 3.1 update i have seen literally no lag or stuttering playing back 720p on imbedded video playback, youtube, anything. i keep seeing all these issue posts and threads about the 3.1 update but i am personally not experiencing any of them, my browser is an snappy as my ipad's browser, games/video playback anywhere (any quality) is perfect, navigation of any part of the os is snappier than before, battery life is exactly the same, i am happy with everything, i just want to be able to root 3.1 without adb and ill be 100% happy..

u can play 720p with no lag or skipping in youtube from browser? anyway u can take a video of that and post, would be helpfull. did u factory reset?
Why are you watching youtube using flash when we have an app that lets us view the video using hardware acceleration?
flash seems to have improved for me
My Flash has gotten so much worse in both the stock Browser and Dolphin that I have gone back to using my ipad1 whenever I want to access a site that has an ios version. It's strange that the degradation is only when you use the browser, not an app.

i did not factory reset, but i havent ever rooted because i wanted the 3.1 update from asus and i read about some disadvantages in primordial, but i really didnt do anything special, just the official update, and i definately meant youtube specifically from the youtube app itself, but from the browser streaming and playing 720p from imbedded videos and/or other means than youtube hasnt lagged on me either (yet** i dont have the invincible tf), the one video "provider" that just plain doesnt work is vimeo for me, i think its a flash 10.3 issue or something because when hitting play the box goes black and never plays. i was just relaying my experience, i think after an update or 2 honeycomb is really going to make apple nervous though
I can't watch ESPN videos anymore. Does anyone know why? I think it was a result of Flash 10.2 and not Honeycomb 3.1. I've done some searches, but I haven't found anything really for the transformer.
Does anyone else have this problem? It just shows up as a picture and never plays video.

you do not know that the net uses a lot of flash video with the same cuts completely different? Flash knows how to manage everything by cons if the hardware part is not done properly, Flash is degraded.
This is Flash movie with 3.0.1 and after ! 3.1
If you understand what I see.
Yes youtube work fine, but not all websites.
can you post a link to that video so we can try the same one please
no, it's a subscription service
Mine was choppy before on 3.01 and still is on 3.1, no change it seems, sux
the above pictures highlight the problem perfectly, i have a second batch transformer and upgraded after first boot to 3.1 i was also thinking steve jobs was right re flash my ipad1 pisses all over my transformer, in every video test ive done, granted its rooted\jailbroken but at this moment apart from the dull UI the only thing it cant do is read anything over a 1 gig usb stick or sd card for movies. I now find it incredible how slick the ipad is with only 256mb ram. Even google are working away from flash. Still loving my transformer, but so wanted it to be everything my desire hd is compared to the iphone 4. I have even found my self going back to my ipad for invoicing and word processing, pages and numbers are slick. Come on google, this thing has loads of horse power and is running like a vw beatle.

Just a quick note to the above, i have just uninstalled flash 10.3 and adobe air and my tablet is running as fast as my ipad, html5 videos are working, flash is definatley buggy on honeycomb. Even when plugins were enabled on demand it was slow. Going to have acplay with a few options.
Hello,
Following the problems encountered, I wrote the team has adobe flash. After several exchanges of mail, they understood the problem. The person I spoke with said he passed the baton to the service of development, and they would arrange to get a tablet asus to see what happens.
Hi,
That's very helpful, thanks for the information. It's definitely something we want to look into.
I've opened a bug, and I have an email into our customer engineering team to try and get a tablet to test with.

Netflix HD Installed on Galaxy Note -Edit Never Mind

I was reading this article on gottabemobile.com About XDA porting the Netflix HD app to the Galaxy Nexus..and I thought, umm why don't I try that on my Note....Installed the APK from their link...OMG BEAUTIFUL. I started up the New Star Trek Movie, awesome, the old Star Trek, awesome again...the interface is a bit small as its made for tablets I guess, but just pull your stylus out and there is no problem here!
On one small note. I used Chrome to Phone to send myself the APK link. After I got the APK link I also got bombarded with spam links via Chrome to Phone on my notification bar. I had to uninstall Chrome to Phone after 12 notifications about "Hot Girls" I'm guessing this is almost like uncontrolled. pop ups on the server that was serving the APK file. Hopefully I can re-install it with-out the spam, as I use Chrome to Phone a lot!
Edit:
Just connected it to my LCD...it does not look like 1080p when compared to running a youtube 1080p video
Well darn...
I actually can't stand the interface. Without the stylus it's very hard to navigate. Very hard. I wish I could switch it back but still keep the high res video.
The normal netflix app on the Note was also very small as I remember from the handful of times I used it before I installed this APK. Though the actually interface does seam just a tad different.
OP are you sure about that?
I was under the impression that Netflix HD only will stream 720p content to OMAP equipped phones at the moment.
I tried the APK on my Note and movies look exactly the same as the regular Netflix App, still looking standard definition to me.
I have no way to confirm that it is actually playing HD. They look great to me. Though I must admit, I only used it a handful of times previously. The APK works and it's functional. I'll try and use the HDMI Out Cable and see if there is any improvident....
Edit:

don't discount this app just yet. It definitely plays video better than the app i installed it over. I watch a lot of space docs on netflix, and they have looked terrible because of the black "blockiness" problem with the note. This version of netflix looks amazing on the note compared to the one i had downloaded from the market. this fixes one of my only disappointments with my phone!
and it also gives me hope that the video issues can be fixed by software alone!

Can you tell me which APK you are using? I am sure we are using the same one and the picture is not any different to me than the stock. This is definitely not 720P. am I the only one who feels this way? Also I keep seeing people refer to HD content on Netflix. How can we tell which it is? Thanks.
