Hi All,
Currently I am running Walter79's 4.5.2-109-DHT-25 rom on red lens defy (and enjoying it)
Following the links in MS2Ginger3.0 thread - I can see 2 downloads for it, MS2Ginger3.0-RC and MS2Ginger3.0-RTM, cannot quite work out which is the correct one to use, any pointers?
Also would it be relatively "safe" to install it over the top of 4.5.2-109-DHT-25?
Thanks
RC is release candidate
I dont know what RTM stands for but its the final release so you should pick this one.
Using 4.5.2-109-DHT-25 shouldnt pose any problems

See http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle#RTM
MS2Ginger 3.0 RTM is stable. If you want to use Blur, download the patch which is attached to the first post (MS2Ginger3.0_Full_Blur.zip), follow the instructions to flash the ROM and install the patch directly afterwards in clockwork mod. This is important if you don't want to do a full wipe.
As the ROM is based on 4.5.2-109-DHT-25 I do guess that it is safe to flash it on top of it.

Thanks guys
Full erase of every thing, installed RTM and its running almost perfectly.
One little bug is the moto / English handwriting keyboard only worked twice and now the screen goes blank whenever activated. Was nice but can live without it.

Idk if this as been asked yet or not but I was wondering which was the most stable build so far that every feature works or almost every feature. Ex. ffc, video, wifi, qik etc. (like the features that works as if it were stock)
Thanks in advance
P.S. Thanks to all the dev/dev teams for all they do cuz of all of ya I think I'll never go back to the Iphone EVER!! ANDRIOD ROCKS!!!
There isn't really a good answer for this yet. They change every night. FFC isn't a rom issue either, its a per app issue. The way the devs wrote their apps for 2.2 was wrong, therefore imposable to function in 2.3. The devs have all been emailed by members of the CM team asking them to fix, but only tango has updated to support gingerbread correctly.
The "best" CM7 build? As you've defined "best" there is no single answer.
Some might tell you to wait for the first Release Candidate -- the first beta, prior to Release.
Some might tell you to wait for the Release.
Some might tell you to stick with a recent nightly build, watching the thread in the development subforum for hints on recently discovered issues that might cause you concern, or the advent of newly deployed features and functions that are of interest to you.
Be aware that the ROM is effectively an Android distribution -- developed to run on many different hardware devices, each with its unique requirements. The HTC Glacier is only one of many.
Quick question, does the gps work in cm7? I'm running the newest build (just flashed today) and everything seems to work except gps. Then again I'm in my apartment and haven't been outside to test.
EDIT: Disregard my question.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
It usually does, it was broken in the last nightly. The devs are aware of the issue and it should be resolved soon.
thx will try it
#40 has been tagged as Release Candidate 1. Look for RC1 at the teamdouche download mirror. GPS issue appears to be resolved.
HTC Glacier CM7 RC1
So they just released CM7 rc1 just as I was about to install CM6 rc2. My question is...
Should I get cm7 or cm6 rc2?? Im a noob to this thing but I have been reading a whole lot &i am aware that they are all a work in progress. Im not looking to overclock nor constantly try custom roms & all. Id jus like to give one of cm roms a try, but ine that will allow me to still use my gps, tango & my other 3rd party apps.
This may help you decide, and of course you may install either:

Note that CM7 is Android 2.3 -- this makes one additional complication -- you need the right version of ClockworkMod Recovery for system image backup/restore (Nandroid backups) and the flashing of ROMs and related software. 2.x is for Android 2.2 ROMs (Stock, CM6, IG, etc) and 3.x is for Android 2.3 ROMs (CM7, GingerCracked). Make sure you do your backups and restores and flashes with the right version.
Option94 has created a unique version of ClockworkMod Recovery that can support both versions of Android: 3.0.0.6:

I've tried it and it's really fast, but the phone tends to restart very often. Do you have any idea why or what I can do that might solve this problem?
I had SpicagenMod beta3 with yonip #45 - it's my best opinion.

sorry for the late reply, I rarely go in spica's thread since I have not used my spica anymore..
Hmm..have you done a CLEAN INSTALL? Meaning, wipe data/cache, format SD card before installing?
Froyo has touchscreen delay. i recommend gb or ics. im using ics and it's not bad.

hello all i recently joined xda because i bought samsung galaxy 3. now as i have been looking for the rom threads in developement section i noticed that i cant post there so i read couple of rom threads and i was stunned. as i see there are 4 main rom makers, lastatious, kyrillos, apocalyps and greenmod. but when i first watched lastatious rom thread i saw that there are MANY problems in lastatious 1.8 also the same thing happened in apocalyps thread, people complain about the rom and they say it crashes/freezes a lot and some even say that they have flashed their phone with the same rom over and over again (like atleast 5times) and still they complain... but when i watched kyrillos and greenmod rom thread people said that they are almost bug free, even tough that greenmod rom is in beta it looks like its far more stable than apocalyps. and as i see it kyrillos rom is more stable than lastatious(and it isnt in beta) but most of the people will flash their rom with unstable lastatious or apocalyps... why? and if the rom wont work they will flash it again and again... why? why wont you use almost bug free roms instead of crashing/freezing rom? as i see it lastatious and apocalyps are the most downloaded and favorited roms but they are also very unstable roms... and this post was not a hate post to the great rom developers out there, i just dont get it... please reply to my post
p.s this was too big first post right?
Hmm... I don't know (about the unstable ROM flashing) p.s that was quite big post but it doesn't matter p.p.s yes you need 10 posts to post on Dec section

I myself do it to help the developer by testing his ROM and all of It's features, and then report results to the dev. Seeing as I've got very minimal skills or brain to contribute in the development I see it as the least I can do.
i tryed some. kyrillos did with every reboot a factory reset? i couldnt install apps and my phone got really hot i flashed it twice.. i tryed apocalypse but i got a softbrick when i rebooted my phone? I flashed back to indroid everytime becouse that one worked perfectly but when greenmods v1.0 is ill flash that one. it has 1% battery mod and it has neon theme that i like (sorry for my english)
Lestatious 1.7 worked bug-free.
Lestatious 1.8 has some minor issues with the kernel and Data2SD.
I'd still say Lestatious is the best ROM for me!

It's the urge to stay on the cutting edge and also the psychology of greener grass. I'm taking more of a backseat now as opposed the first few weeks of having the phone.
why flash unstable / beta ROMs? If you mean mindless flashing ('WOW, cool name, let's flash!!!') then I don't know
but if you want to help with development, testing, reporting bugs, contribute somehow, then it is perfectly justified
Apocalypse is in beta stage and of course it may have some bugs but will be fixed untill the final release.
Lestatious i think its a stable rom but v1.8 has an alpha version kernel which is not as stable as beta or final.
My rom has also an alpha version kernel with some freezes rarely.
I havent tried GreenMod but it seems that its nice rom

I flashed your rom 4.1 directly from DDJP2 with the hope that the camera and the faceobook touch site would open. But still it has the camera bug. So i changed to Stock european version new release. XWJPF and i like it.
Though its has the camera bug and facebook touch site wont open. Do you have any solution for this???
DDJP6>DDJP2>Kyrillos 4.1>XWJPF
Will be waitng for your reply soon.
people flash unstable roms because they want to support the developer and test out some of the newer features of the rom. if nobody tests them, how are they gonna stamp out the bugs? unless you want to stick to the boring stock g3.
unstable as it is, its not like any real damage is done. whatever happens, you can just reflash it. no biggie

I dont think so because it was working perfect on my Stock eclair DDJG6. But after upgraing i am having this prblm. My camera is working perfect but if the location is enabled and if i dont have lock on my position my camera would force close if a click a photo. But if its turned off it works flawlessly. And in FROYO their isnt any option for turning off Geo-tagging.
Do you have any solution for this prblem..or a most stable ROM that doesnt have any prblm.

hi
i think u got ur answers here
but i have been using kyrillos13 recent rom and its quite stable and good for me
i think its more what one wants if ur a basic user like me its ok. IF u are a heavy user that is u want LWP gps & blah blah then yes u would have many problems
and no matter how good the rom is overclocking is always gona give u the problem because the manufacture has a reason why he has made the phone for a certain speed we try to boost it very very high then their will be a problem
somewhere i read that a +10to 15% is ok but guys here boost it like double so ur bound to get problems
Well basically we all like to stay on the current situation...coz if u miss out on sumthing ull get thrown behind eons...so its better to stay updated here on xda!
Plus checking out alphas betas n oder stable ROMs is quite fun...u get a look of what oder smart-brained dev did to ur fone frm a piece of junk to a heavenly piece!...Happy Flashing!

For User Either Running Gingerbread/ ICS previous ROM's they have to just upgrade their Clockmod Recovery to 5.0.2.6. and then run MAGDLR and first wipe ur phone and follow the instruction how to install ICS from SD folder.
For All: i have installed tytung's latest ICS, link is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437463
its working gr8, all features are working, no prob at all. only one drawback is, its minutely slow, but tat will not effect in any sense.
so njoy !!!!!!!!!!! all softwares needed for 1st install are available from tytung's link..
just try it, it's smooth and stable maybe not as stable as gb build is, but enough for me, for daily driver

Hi all,
Could someone please help me out with a stable 2nd boot Quarx ROM or any other stable 2nd boot ROM that works for Defy Green lens ( screwed up after service center updated Stock GB ) I have been using Quarx 2nd Boot ROM and Its been working fine. As I'm still running on Nightlies (Sept 30th) and development on this thread is going painfully slow...: well can't complain though.. I just need something more stable.. the nightlies have some lag and the devices seems to be too slow even when not using data. I just want to put a stable OS on this and keep this aside.

For me the 17.01.14 Nightly of CM11 (Android 4.4) works pretty good and smooth as butter. I use it as my daily driver without any problems, but I don't know wether I have red or green lens (I think it's red lense, but I'm not sure). As far as I know it works for both...
A real "stable" version of Quarx's ROMs does not exist as far as I know, so I use this one.
Development of elder Android versions than 4.4 is stopped I think, so there are only updates for the current version.
Hope it helped so far.
