[ROM][KK4 2.3.5][Feb16] Nostalgia 2.4 - idut cygane
Screenshots are gone.
Is your Captivate running slow? Are you tired of included stock applications taking up your RAM and CPU? Are ICS bugs and battery drain taking on your nerve? Do you want the noise free conversations?
Are you nostalgic of good ol' times when everything just worked?
Do you like stock TouchWiz experience?
Then Nostalgia ROM is for you!
Change log

- silky smooth speed - due to sqlite
- noise suppression with Audience chip,
- less than zero screen brightness

Warnings/Issues
- install over any GB ROM using CWM, there are no bootloaders
- themeing from Fasty - you will see his name in Notifications
- backup all your user apps before applying
- keep backup ROM available like SauromKK4HeimdallOneClick for easy rollback
- not all lockscreens are working. Be careful as choosing nonworking lockscreen is not curable without wiping data. Among working - Rotary lock, Glass lock, 4Tab, Honeycomb
- Corn 7.0.6 kernel doesn't like EXT4 filesystem, you gotta turn EXT4 journaling ON/OFF several times with reboots to make it work. Final config for journaling EXT4 - OFF, ON(data), OFF,OFF.
Some speed test numbers:
quadrant - @1GHz - 2162 (compared to 1400 for Froyo).
quadrant - @1.4GHz - 3266 (compared to 1800 for Froyo).
I didn't apply mount cheat. But here you have it.
Mount cheat: mount -t tmpfs tmpfs /data/data/com.aurorasoftworks.quadrant.ui.standard
linpack @ 1.4GHz - 24.5
SunSpider Javascript @1.4GHz - 2207ms with Opera mobile 11.5.
Planned: Jkay customizations may be...

Guys - it is 2.0. I just named the file wrong.

meh, i find zippyshare to be pretty fast. downloaded in less than 2 min
What themes would work?
This sounds great. The only thing that would stop me is if I can't find a theme I don't mind. Would UOT Kitchen work? Other than that, would themes compatible with Fasty KK4 work?
Download link is broken. or its just me?
Use Opera Mobile if you are coming from cellphone.
Samsung browser is not good for getting .zip

I don't know what UOT kitchen is - pardon my ignorance.
Any KK4 theme might work.
Any Fasty KK4 theme should work.
Swype keyboard is new so themeing it is not suggested.

Hi! bravo, glad to see you back, i have used your nostalgia froyo rom before and it was really amazing. Sad part is my power button is broken which strangely doesn't allow my phone to go to download mode, and i am stuck in Aosp format.
Thank you very much for the rom and i am sure people not jumping on ICS will love this roms speed, stability and battery life.
UOT kitchen will work on this rom, it works on everything [stock, deodexed, CM7(theme chooser themes), MIUI(battery mods) etc.]
Thanks for words of support! You don't need power button to get into download mode - USB plug+2 volume buttons.
Then once you Heimdall flash any extended KK4 ROM, go into Recovery from Power menu, or do "adb reboot recovery".

It's not that, his power button doesn't work, and the phone powers on automatically. I had this problem prior to fixing it via warranty. Get a jig, it fixes it.

Same with me, you have to take the battery out, put the jig in, and then put the battery in.

You are right about it but the problem is that after connecting usb when i insert the battery it shows charging animation screen instead of going to download mode, which means the three button to download is not working.
Your jig is broken. Not download mode. Buy a legit one for 15 bucks off eBay.

When you apply your lagfix, choose option one when prompted "backup AND restore"
Install Instructions:
as always, its best to flash to stock JF6 with the odin one click downloader.
copy this rom to your internal sd card, and after flashing stock. flash this through Clockwork Recovery. thats it. no need to do anything with the jg8 modem or anything like that.
on first flash, all=ext4 is enabled by default-if you want to use something else, select go back to recovery then go to the lagfix options and enable whatever you want. when your prompted with the options about backing up, i suggest choosing option 1. this will do a backup and restore so you will not lose any apps(the other options you will lose the apps in /data)

Been looking forward to this.
Thanks, I'll try it tonight.

i hadn't planned on it, but it looks like i'll be flashing today
sweet! downloading and flashing @ work, excited to test.
I couldnt apply lag fix right away had to reboot first ... BUT it did tell me my configs changed ???? ... I chose option 1 and noticed it set up like this

booting up was about 2 minutes on android logo
reboot to recovery then fix it to no rfs advanced ... ( all jfs )
looking good I previously dropped this rom because of modem giving me issue
will set my stuff and report back if needed .
PS why is the Fm app always in your rom ? do you hope it will work at one point ?

you few that download already, here is a better videoplayer.apk. it doesnt fix the problem, but at least youll be able to view your recorded videos from /sdcard-dcim-camera. still looking at problem and trying to find a fix.

some people have said if that app is removed it can cause problems. if you dont like it, remove it from /system/app.
first boot will take a while as it zipaligns and deodexes.
and btw this rom has nothing in common with my other di11is darkyy rom except my theme. this is my own base.
Ive been running your darky rom 2.0.1 for a day with the jk3 modem. Downloading now to check out the CM mms. I hope its the one with the notification vibration types like multiple long.

thx bro. was planning on reflashing myself to verify.
My home button didnt work either, not sure about lock screen. Flashing back to stock now.
My home button worked fine. hmmm, also I can confirm the video player.apk in the first post for us couple who downloaded early is letting me play video. But just as stated, can only open it from file manager to view.
great rom so far, its fast. Yes, I did run benchmarks, not that they really matter anymore. can notice the difference in speed when deleting widgets, open anything. It screams, props di11igaf, awesomely quick rom.

just downloaded my own file, reflashed to stock put the downloaded file on my sd and flashed again with no probs. first thing i did though was apply lagfix and when the backup and restore options pop up make sure you choose the first option to backup and restore all data.
let me know if you do reflash this if you have the same problem.

preciate it, will try later. problem probably because i apply lagfix "without backup and restore."
ahh ya i bet thats why. not sure why it really would matter(since the problem your describing would be an android.policy.jar problem) but im gonna try it that way and see if it makes a difference. thats the only thing different that we did though.
also i think if you apply the lagfix that way, any apps in the rom that are in /data/app by default will not be restored-at least this has happened to me in the past and why now i always do a backup and restore.
I did a yes without backup and restore, and the home button ain't workin.
Hello
I'm using Darky's ROM v9.5 and I don't like the fade effect when the screen is locked/unlocked. It seems that some lag is present and I want to have no effect at all.
I've done some search but found no solution. The files used for this effect are lock_screen_enter.xml, lock_screen_exit.xml, but how to modify them? They are not plain text files.
You might want to take a look at that....It works perfectly on my SGS running Darky's 9.5
If you want to change the lockscreen animation only;not the whole UI's anim, you could replace the xml files you already have with the ones of your choice.
Thanks for the quick answer..
I tried those files (including stock) but my problem is what is happening right after you press the power button and the unlock screen appears. The files you mention in that thread are related to the animation shown after sliding the lock button.
So, is there any way to turn on the lights instantly when the unlock screen appears?
giony said:

I can't really find those two xmls existing in any other archive than "framework-res.apk" under res/anim folder. So, you could try replacing them, unless we are referring to different files.
That are the files, but after you point me on that thread I realized that the files does not control what happens when the unlock screen appears. They controls what happens after you slide to unlock.
I think that is something built in ..in the end I could live with it because the ROM is just wonderful
Anyway, would be nice to be a way so that the lock/unlock will just turn on/off the screen without any effect (it is more like a turn on in three steps, from low light - middle light - normal light level)
I see your point Is it really that gradient that it gets annoying? I mean to say that running 9.5 I don't even get to notice that! Which kernel are you on, btw?
Yes, is pretty annoying...I have used only stock roms until now and this issue was obviously for me from the first uses
The current kernel on my phone is Speedmod. Should I choose the Voodo(recommended) ?
To be honest, I don't know the diff between them..I just heard that Speedmod is better..
LE: with voodoo kernel the problem is solved, no fade effect anymore but I will continue using speedmod(more ram)
Well, as you can see from my signature, I use Speedmod, too, and have no such effect
Could it be that you haven't activated its tweaks or using RFS? You could do it, by booting into recovery.Activate all the <RECOMMENDED> and <OPTIONAL> ones. Not the <NOT RECOMMENDED>. As for the RFS conversion, you should use the "enable lagfix option"+"Convert system" to ext4. And, last but no least, I recommend installing Speedmod with HZ=500 version
Let me know!
Enabled that tweaks and the phone seems to run faster with no additional battery drain, thanks
As for the initial issue(same effect), I already get used with it and is not bother me anymore
Hi, I have Samsung Galaxy and I'm a noob at doing roms for it, I bricked my last one. I would like to know do you have the step by step for the Darky's 9.5 extreme with the speed kernel? Just a question, hope you can help me out.
I used superoneclick to root my phone and when I booted into the bootloader it didn't give me the right prompt to prepare for the rom. Got impatient and said F it and did it anyway well I got what I asked for.

MOD EDIT: AS WE ARE REORGANIZING THE GTABLET FORUM - ALL ROMS/KERNELS/ETC WILL HAVE THEIR Q&A POSTS MOVED TO THE Q&A SECTION.
THE Q&A LOCATION FOR THIS ROM IS HERE
Thanks.
---------------------------------------
STANDARD DISCLAIMER: USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. By running this firmware mod, you agree that there is the possibility that you may brick your device and neither myself, XDA nor Viewsonic are responsible for supporting you if that occurs. In this case, it is required that you learn and setup nvflash prior to running this mod.
This is a port of AdamComb with pershoot kernel and some tweak for performance and usability. Thanks all the greatest Adam, Vegan, Gtab devs that make this rom possible.
Install instruction:
1. Make sure the version of your bootloader and download the corresponding rom
2. I guess most of you should already be in CWM, but if you are not. update the recovery to CWM first. Stock recovery might work but you need to do some work and CWM is much better anyway.
3. Wipe data / Factory reset. It might work well, but you will most likely have problems without doing this.
4. Using the "install from sdcard" to install and enjoy.
Features: Very fast and stable
For AdamComb features, check its original post at tabletroms.
1. Overclocked by default, max frequesy adjusted by battery level.
-- you could use setcpu to adjust the min, max frequency. The build-in script for cpu management respect the setting from setcpu
2. Tweaked internal storage & SD card read speeds
3. Annoying ads in programs are blocked
4. Calkulin's battery saving script
5. data2loop works super well
6. pre-load some useful modules at boot time, e.g. cifs, ntfs, utf8, tun.
Known Issues:
1. Anything related to hardware acceleration
2. Stock Camera App does not work.
Beta 3.3: AdamComb v0.2 + pershoot's kernel 07/25/11
[BL1.1]

[BL1.2]
http://dev-host.org/k0zcozlozwgi/GtabComb_b3.3_bl1.2.zip
changelog:
1. update to pershoot 26.32.43 kernel. As already confirmed by some users, this version runs faster and hopefully it also resolve the BT tether issue
2. fix the "import" bug in init.rc.
3. change the label of sdcard and mircosd to be the same as in stock version. So far I have not got any issue and it does fix the "install unsuccessful" problem for some app.
4. remove some libs that does not use in gtab to free up some space. now all the libs in pershoot kernel are available in this rom. just edit the /system/etc/init.d/05modules to add your desired lib in the modules string.
5. Thanks all you guys for testing this and digging into issues. This help me a lot to resolve some issues here. It is the effort from all of us that make this rom better and better.
Beta 3.2: AdamComb v0.2 + pershoot's kernel 07/02/11
[BL1.1]
link: http://www.mediafire.com/?sy8oxpcrdufr4e3
[BL1.2]
link: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqoo08e1m49no1d
changelog:
1. battery life improved a lot
2. overall system performance improvement.
3. partially fixed bluetooth. Not sure how much it works (pulling some of bluetooth libs from flashback)
4. remove street and office app. put back camera app (it still fc, put it here so that some power user could play on it to see if we could find a fix here)
5. fix an issue that usb connect and debug notification does not disappear when the usb is disconnected (well, it still do not work if the usb is disconnected when the system is on sleep)
6. code reorganization and clean up. make it easier for some power user to change settings and plug in scripts without the need to unpack/repack boot.img. Hopefully we could have more power user to play with the system and further improved this rom.
7. change the cpu governor to respect on cpumaster, so you can use both setcpu or cpumaster to adjust the voltage if you really do not like the cpu managed by the buildin script.
8 change bootanimation (pulling from the bootanimation collection by thinkdevoid @tabletroms)
Again, back up and wipe data and factory reset (at least wipe dalvik cache) if you want a smooth experience. Almost all unexpected FCs are related to NOT wiping data

BL1.1 ONLY
This is the old rom that based on Roebee's BOS HoneyComb. Check Roebeet's orginal post for more detail.
Besides the greatness of BOS, this rom also have some additional features:
1. Overclocked by default (max frequesy adjusted by battery level)
2. Tweaked internal storage & SD card read speeds
3. Annoying ads in programs are blocked
4. Calkulin's battery saving script
Known Issues:
1. All the BOS issues apply here

Note: users in other roms have mix experience on data2loop. It works very well for me, but I do not know how it will work for you. If it works well, you should expect data intesive apps (e.g. email, galary, market, etc) load much faster. If you do not know what data2loop is and its potential risk, do not flash a1.6.2. a1.6.1 already perform very well. you should wipe user data/factory reset before flashing a1.6.2 if you decide to try it.

Just flashed this last night and had about 2 hours with it (not a lot of time at all but) I love it!!! It's my first Honeycomb ROM. Great so far... what a learning curve HC is? Just weird but I am getting the hang of it. Thanks all for your hard work!

Loving the rom so far. Really great job, one question though. Is there a way to make it so pressing the home button takes me to the main screen instead of to the large clock? I'm probably just messing an easy setting or something, but I can't seem to find it.
Edit: For anyone interested, unless there is another way that I'm aware of, you can fix this by using titanium backup to freeze the clock in the backup/restore menu. This breaks the alarm clock though. Hope that helps, maybe someone else will have a better solution

Could you explain a bit more what is your issue?
What you mean by "large clock"?
I am on 1.6.2 and anytime I press home button I end on home screen. :-O
First HC rom here too, really nice interface improvements. Thanks to the devs for giving us this!
Is it just me, or is anyone else "missing" the menu bar at the bottom of the home screen with home, menu, back etc keys?
EDIT: Issue was resolved by wiping and reinstalling. Think it might have been caused because I launched VLT Launcher first time I booted up HC and not the default launcher.
hey guys, i just upgraded to this from vegan 5.1.1 and so far im liking it! Its worked fairly well for my games so far including plants vs zombies keep up the great work!

Only drawback is lack of fullscreen, but that is general HoneyComb issue:-(

When i would press home either on my gtab or on the screen, the screen would change to a large clock. If you've ever seen the desk clock feature on a droid (like when its in the dock), thats what it looked like.
I had the previous BOS version from this thread of 6/24 (?) and it ran fine. I downloaded 1.62 and it would not run - it would not go past lock screen. 1.61 did the same thing. Did full wipe before and after install, and downloaded both versions again and after install the same thing happened. I am now downloading 1.52 and will try that one.

I just updated from a1.5 to a1.6 and found out that ad-hoc networks are not supported (I get error 82). Rebooted many times but still doesn't work. This is a great problem because I cannot use wifi tethering from my android phone therefore cannot go online!!! Any help?????
Same here as Aldo.Caruso - no adhoc wifi on 1.6.1
Sent from my Droid using XDA App
I noticed this rom doesn't have google talk installed. I pulled the honeycomb gtalk apk from bottle of smoke. So far it seems to work without issue. I have it attached here, just download and install like you would any other apk.
Good so far
Awsome ROM, only one problem so far for me. Facebook for Android 1.6 keeps saying I don't have a connection. While facebook with the browser works fine.
is anyone else having problems playing youtube videos (with in the youtube app) in HD? i can only play them in sd (very grainy in the large tablet screen)
But other then that excellent rom - thanks to all that are involved.

Sorry, I had never seen that thing you are talking about. Picture will help here. But if you have such an app installed, go to application management in settings and check whether it is not marked as default app for home. If yes, reset that setting.

I decided to go back to alpha1.5 because lack of ad-hoc network support is too much an issue considering that Gtab is wifi only and tethering to my android phone is the only way to go online!!!
Anyway I just read this on the Slatedroid forum:
http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/18755-ad-hoc-network/
This file and method are meant for the Iconia Tab but I posted a question asking if it could work also on other tablets. Will let you know.
Could someone smarter then me try to explain why the heck you need such weird thing like ad-hoc wifi :-O
I know that Google disabled some useful things in Android, but I am sure ad-hoc was not disabled, it was simply ommited as completely obsolete and useless way of connection.
Every modern WiFi chip can act as AP, so there is no reason to use ad-hoc. Is it possible to secure it? I am not sure, but I doubt it...
Anyway, I am using my other android phone for wifi tethering and there is definitely no need for ad-hoc for wifi tethering...
But maybe I am completely dumb. In that case, please educate me a bit...

Okay, so recently Ive been seeing a lot of complaining about cm7, decks, miui etc.
I will show you my favorite way of doing things which has kept me hooked since late last year.
Don't blame me for any problems.
If you need the sense equivalent of this, go here.
DOWNLOADS:
:Rom:
Decks AOSP. You can use any other AOSP rom of choice, like CM7 Nightlies. As long as its based off cm7, you can follow this guide and be fine. Settings may be different though.
DON'T flash anything yet.
:Kernel:
Download a SavagedZen Kernel. I recommend CFS Havs. I understand that they havent updated recently but from my personal experience, SZ is amazing.
P.S. This is needed for what I'll be showing you later on so you will definitely not get the results expected from using Tiamat or any other kernel.
If you are not sure on what kernel or rom you want to use, go to this link.
:Misc:
Here are other things that you need to download.
Format All Zip
Use this everytime you install a rom. Dont worry, it does not touch your sd card.
Gapps for CM7
Gapps for Decks
Gapps for Decks with voicemail
Always need your Gapps!
I have created my self a flashable titanium backup zip using the app(its in the preferences somewhere) and that helps out a bunch.
GPS Drivers
Fixes GPS with AOSP.
SuperCharger Script
This thing is freakin awesome.
There will be other things to download later on but they are apps.
Before we move on, do this:

Put every single one of these files on the root of your Sd card. This means that the files should be in no folders! directly on your card.
You SHOULD be using AmonRA recovery.
If not I highly recommend you do that.
FLASHING
Make sure everything you need is backed up already
1. Boot into recovery
2. Nandroid Backup your current rom[Optional]
3. Flash Format all zip[2x if you would like]
P.S. Format all doesn't wipe sd-ext. Do that through recovery wipe options
4. Flash rom
5. Flash kernel
6. Flash Gapps, GPS Fix, and Titanium backup if you have it[No particular order for these]
7. Reboot
AFTER FLASH
Go through everything, setup your accounts
Download Script Manager, Juice Defender, System Tuner, and Terminal Emulator[Most AOSP roms already have this]
:SuperCharger:
1. Open Script Manager and navigate to the root of your Sd card which is where the SuperCharger script should be
2. Run the script as root only. Leave everything else unchanged
3. Choose your scrolling speed options.. you should go fast
4. When the list of options is given, choose either of the aggressive setting. I use the first one
The new updates are making everything kind of confusing.
All the options you get have a bunch of numbers next to them; I'm going to just type out which ones are the ones that I recommend.
[6,8,24,30,40,50] My favorite.
[6,8,25,30,35,35] A bit more aggressive then needed, but still good.
5. After it is done and it goes back to the numbered options, press back and leave the script in background
6. Navigate all the way back to your phone's system files
7. Go into system/etc and then into init.d
8. Run as root and boot the supercharger file in there
9. Reboot
:System tuner:

Also, change cache size to 4096
:CPU settings:
Settings > CyanogenMod settings/Advanced settings > Performance > CPU settings
1. Available governors, choose conservative
2. Check set on boot
If you want to go more advanced and be able to set up profiles and other things, check out SetCpu
If you do choose SetCpu, do NOT mess with Cm7 CPU settings.
P.S. This is where Tiamat lacks. I have no lag using conservative on SZ kernel.
P.S.2. Since we are using a HAVS kernel and are undervolting, overclocking is dangerous.
P.S.3. If your rom doesn't have these options, you can use SetCpu to do the same exact thing.
:JuiceDefender:[Optional]
This app can get you A LOT more battery life if used right.
I use the ultimate version of this and I highly recommend you buy it yourself.
1. Set profile to advanced
2. [About] Go down and uncheck enable after unlock
Some kind of notification is needed or else JD will be killed
3. [Controls] Change to your needs, I leave everything untouched
4. [Schedules] Disable night[Optional]
5. [Schedules] Change to your needs, I leave everything untouched
6. [Triggers] Disable Battery[Optional]
7. [Triggers] Change to your needs, I leave everything untouched
One more thing.. there's this app called chainfire 3d I use it but I haven't really noticed any difference with anything. You should try it out and let me know
Tips
1. Turn off haptic feedback
Settings > Sounds > uncheck haptic feedback
Less lag + a little bit more juice
2. Kill apps by holding down back button
Only tested on cm7/decks. Other roms may be different
Settings > Applications > Development > check Stop app via long press back button
3. Make WiFi stay on
Settings > Wireless & Networks > Wi-Fi settings > menu > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy > Never
Android, on default, turns of WiFi when the screen is turned off. This will yield worse battery life since 3g/4g sucks much more battery life than WiFi
4. Increase VM heap size
Settings > Advanced/CyanogenMod7 settings > Performance > VM heap size > 48m > Reboot
5. Add Silent slate
Settings > Advanced/CyanogenMod7 settings > Sound > Check Silent slate
Adds silence option for notifications when you use vol+/vol-
6. Use Google voice for voice mail
7. Many AOSP experts would recommend using decks v1.3d over 1.3 but I haven't really noticed much of a difference and the new features in 1.3 are too big a compromise for me. If 1.3 is not working out for you, definitely try 1.3d.
New doesn't always = better
bairds1 said:
When using 1.3d, do the 2 fixes for it - proximity and phone fix - one is a zip to flash and the other is a file overwrite/replacement. Details and links in Deck's thread.

Apps that I can't live without
1. Rom Toolbox
PLENTY of things you can do with this rom.
Get rid of ads, change boot anim., etc etc etc
2. LauncherPro
HATE stock android launcher
There are many other ones like ADW, GO launcher, WP7 etc..
3. Adobe reader and flash
4. MixZing
HATE stock android music
Many other options here
5. Google Maps
6.Root explorer
7. Twonky server(for Xbox or other things streaming)
You have a tip or an app? Let me know and ill add it to here
Warning: Reflashing Rom or kernel can reset some of these things
Now, you will have optimal performance and optimal battery life.
Plain AOSP is ugly though right? Look in the market for themes or go to the XDA android themes section
You can also use the UOT theme kitchen. It is truly amazing and very easy to use. It has churned out quite a few sexy themes for me.
Let me know of any suggestions you have.
And the last P.S. in this thread: Every Evo is different. You may not have the same perfect results as me. If you experience things like random reboots, lag, bad battery etc then you should post in this thread and either me or other people will help you achieve my results for your phone.
Edit to ^: If you have terrible battery life, you most likely have a wake lock issue. There are hundreds of threads on this and how to fix it. Here's one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128135
If my thread doesn't seem to give you the desired results check out the increasingly popular car o dope tweaks: http://vaelek.com/index.php/topic/1916-guide-car-o-dopes-supersonic-tweaking-guide-v102-120411/

Decent guide, but if you're using a havs kernel, setcpu can conflict and do more harm then good.
Nice guide, especially for the newer people joining our Supersonic group. I would only add a couple of points for consideration. After trying every aosp rom available, including the latest CM nightly's (2.3.7), my favorite is Deck's 2.3.4 (version 1.2.1) ... very quick, smooth, and quite stable. I also think that S/Z's "interactive x" governor is the best.

And with Interactive X you wouldn't need screen-off profiles.
CM7 has "Advanced Settings" (I forget the name but it is in settings) so you really wouldn't need SetCpu. You can set min/max speeds and governor. If you have profiles, SetCpu would run in the background.
People should still wipe everything in recovery, not relying on zips to do it though.

Not saying that the wipe zips aren't unreliable, but usually I wipe everything by hand then run one of the zips. For example, the zip you provided doesn't wipe sdext. The one you gave is actually a good one as it wipes boot and system along with the usual (sometimes I don't see one or the other in other zips).
And the HAVS issue is more when you are overclocking, overclocking and undervolting don't go well together.
Ill add those in. Thanks.
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Personally, smartass or smartassV2 are the best governors in my opinion.

EDIT: This doesn't work on ODEX ROMs! That would be stock ROMs, as most custom ROMs are deodexed. If it is an odex ROM, you can do the mod, but you have to do it manually (the web app doesn't work). Check out the second post in the supercharger thread for a how-to. But if you are on a custom ROM the method in the video will work!
Alright, so I have been reading about how to supercharge ICS for awhile, but the process looked daunting. However I figured it out, and it works great! This will work on ANY ROM, so try it out!
I have been using this for awhile, and it's just super smooth. I've been using it a lot lately, and it hasn't given me a bit of lag yet! It's just gone!
What is V6?
V6 supercharger is a script that manages the RAM memory. This makes multi-tasking much faster, and it knows when to kill off apps that are taking a lot of RAM. This makes your phone a lot faster and more efficient!
Here is the person who made the script: V6 Supercharger
Here is a dl link to the script: DOWNLOAD LINK
I'm in! So... How Do I Do this?
Well I made a video for you:
Here are instructions:
1. Download the supercharger script from the link above and put it on the root of your SD card.
2. Get an app called script manager from the market. It's free. Open it up and click on the supercharge script from the list of what's on your SD card. Click the SU button, then hit run.
3. Go through the setup. Set scrolling speed to 1. When they ask if you want to integrate it into the system, say yes. You will get to a list of about 30 options after a little bit.
4. Select number 6 (I know I said 7 in the video, but 6 has better multitasking) for this phone, and hit enter. It will go through a whole bunch of stuff.
5. It will ask you to superclean and restart. SAY NO. You'll do that inn a minute. Just hit the home button.
6. Open the browser on your phone and go to : android.mimic.ca and hit the upload button. There will be a popup, select root explorer (Install it if you don't have it already). Go into system/framework/ and select the services.jar file. It will take you back to the website. Hit upload. The page will reload. Now select the CMW flashable zip option and download it. Go to root explorer and move that to the root of your SD card.
7. Reboot into recovery, wipe cache and dalvic, then flash the zip. Reboot. Done! Enjoy the speedieness!

Let me know what ya think!
Alright, so enough questions have been asked that I should start giving answers to them here.
Q. Do I need to re-flash the file in recovery if I want to make changes?
A. Not if you make changes to the the supercharger script (ie. change options). The only time you have to flash it is if you upgrade/change ROMs. Just remember to make a new one, and don't flash the old file!
Q. Isn't option "X" better/faster/easier on battery?
A. Play around with them and see what works for you. I like option 6. Not too aggressive, but it still keeps control. Just use the options that are for your phone (ie 512HP for this phone because it has that much RAM. So option 5, 6, or 7). I also use the nitro-lagnullifier. It makes things even faster!
Q. Does it affect battery life?
A. Yes, in a good way! I get better battery life.
Q. How do I know if it worked??
A. Open up script manager, and go to the supercharger file. let it run, and once you get to the menu with all the options, it will tell you if you are supercharged or not right below that.
Those were the most commonly asked questions. If they don't answer your questions then post 'em!

This shouldn't hurt the battery. I used to use it on my Epic fairly often especially once the Gingerbread leaks started coming out. There are several different routes to go with the script too. It can also be used to improve multitasking such as when you have multiple apps open at once.

You can patch it manually. Check out the link in the OP. However, it requires unziping the file, opening it in notepad++, editing the code, zipping it back up, putting it back in the phone, and editing some stuff with terminal emulator. It's a bit over most people's heads, and the website makes it easy by making the patched services.jar a flashable zip.
If you want to do it, be my guest. It's all in the second post of the supercharger thread.

I have only used it on custom ROMs. The web app doesn't work for odex ROMs (stock), but it will work on custom ROMs. Try one of them out, it should work then. just titanium backup, flash new ROM, and restore backup. Won't loose your apps!
I can confirm this is working on the cyberg rom...my min ram is 144mb now under performance setting...my phones seems snappier now!
