[Q] Fire turning on and off rapidly - Kindle Fire General

I hadn't used my Fire for a while, so I went and plugged it into the charger as battery was at 0%. After I plugged it in, this is what happened:
1. Turn on KF.
2. The standard TWRP (yellow logo + press for recovery) flashes for about 1-2 seconds.
3. The KF turns off and reboots (screen goes black).
4. Repeat 2 and 3 about every 5 seconds; screen on 2 seconds, off 2 seconds, etc.
The KF isn't on long enough for it to register with either adb or fastboot, so I'm kind of stuck here. Any ideas?

only to charge it with the wall charger for some hours ...

Any luck with your kindle? Im having the same problem.

as i said above ...
it tries to start - battery brakes down - tries to start - battery ....

When you see triangle just push pwr button for 20s. and it should power it off, so KF can charge.
If it wont help you should make/buy factory cable

Constant Rebooting?

Ok, so my Kindle Fire is rooted running an older version of CM9 (Late January) and since I don't use it very often it just sits there. Well, it ended up draining the battery and when I plug it into the wall to charge it just tries to turn on, gets to the FIREFIREFIRE bootloader logo and shuts off instantly. Over and over and over...
I've had it plugged in for about 20 minutes now and nothing is changing... How can I make it stop so it will just charge? I feel like its just booted and draining faster than its charging now.
Just let it sit for over an hour, came back and the screen was off with the light just flashing.
What now?! I unplugged it, and plugged it back in and it just resumed the screen flashing again...
I hope it didn't break because of the stupid battery
- plug it to the wall charger
- press and hold the power button for ~20sec till it turns off to allow it to charge
- let it charge for some hours (over night)

No dice, it won't turn off. I held it for over a minute while looking at the power light from an angle. It just kept on blinking green...
Btw, here is another thread for this

Boot into TWRP... then follow my other directions.
From the op of KFU thread:
Known Tricks
•If you end up stuck at the yellow triangle, in KF Utility select Boot Normal, wait for it to say <waiting for device> and then press and hold the power button 20 seconds until the fire turns off, then when its off turn it back on. This sometimes happens, I have yet to find a clean solution
•If you end up stuck with a yellow triangle, do not EVER unplug it. Leave it plugged in. Check the windows drivers to make sure it isnt showing as "kindle" again. Fastboot is different and can cause this.
That fixed my issues in fastboot when I was trying to install TWRP the first time. If that doesn't work then [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20945694&postcount=506]check out this post[/URL]
I cannot boot into TWRP because the kindle keeps shutting off because it is dead. It isn't read by the computer.
Plug it into electrical outlet and leave it alone for three hours.
While waitin for three hours assess your problem and find the solution. Search.
Then execute solution after fire is charged.
Will it charge even when it keeps turning on and off?

Yes it will keep charging.
It did not charge... At least I don't think it did..
When you plug it in do you get a solid color or is the light flashing?
When it's plugged in to the wall and the light is solid you should perform a hard reset by holding power for 20 seconds. This will fully shut down your KF and it will accept the charge
If by flashing you mean turning on and off by itself than yes, it is flashing.
Please help..I'm losing it
Same problem here. It does not seem to charge when plugged into either wall or computer. The green light flashes on and off repeatedly and the recovery screen (yellow triangle) just comes on and off (it eventually just goes black while the green power light continues to turn on and off)
in order to help myself I have done a few things
1: KFU isnt working.
I updated the drivers through KFU
I tried to change bootmode to "normal" and it hung on "waiting for device" I tried hard reset here and nada
2: I tried booting into normal fastboot 4000 through command prompt and hung on "waiting for device" tried reset..nada
So just like the poster above I cannot get into TWRP as the computer never truly recognizes the KF. This all happened when my wife turned on my kf and didnt know what the TWRP was and hit the power button for recovery. It loaded back to the stock kindle set (I had been using CM7) and since then I've been eating FUBAR soup as it doesnt work
Seriously..im pulling my hair out here...any help? I'd try to return the kf to Amazon and save myself the pain but I think we know what would happen when they plug it in and see the flashing triangle...lol
1. Plug your kindle in to the wall for 3 hours like someone mentioned previously (it will charge) The issue with the device being in a boot loop has nothing to do with the kindle fire not charging, this is perfectly normal if you have modified system files and the system can't boot the Android OS. It is also normal to never get past the Yellow Triangle if for some reason that you have changed to FastBoot mode. (Some people may be misinformed thinking that FastBoot does what it sounds like it does (boot fast - not the case), that's how this usually happens)
2. After you know the kindle has been charged for at least 3 hours on a known working power outlet. Press and hold the power button on the kindle for 20 seconds or longer until the device powers down completely.
3. Press the Power button to turn the kindle fire back on, and be ready, as it comes back on press the power button as soon as the Yellow Triangle (firefirefire) logo first appears. Press it up to 5 times rapidly. If you get to TWRP then you can relax. - If you get to the Yellow Triangle and you have pressed the Power button a few times but it is still stuck in a boot loop before giving up try one more time to shut down completely and reboot while pressing Power button rapidly.. You want to be sure to do this before the Yellow Triangle screen goes dim .
4. When you are in TWRP you should be able to use KFU or ADB. You may want to change the boot mode if it is not already to "Normal" if you are having this problem with "Normal" then try to reflash the Kindle with a recovery image or a new ROM.
Hopefully you can at least get to TWRP by following this, so that you can at least flash the kindle with a different update.zip. Good Luck
Charged like you said...still no charge. Flashes on and off and when you pull the power cord goes to black like its dead and will not turn on at all whether you hold it down or just push it...
Never had a problem like this before, could always at least get it to turn on or off not a mix of both lol. Thanks for the help...any more ideas on how to get it where I can at least get it into recovery?

I'm experiencing the same thing.
I'm still confused... are you guys trying to charge it while it is in the boot loop?
Have you tried turning it off (holding down the power button for 20-30 seconds until the screen and the power button go dark and stay dark)? And then plugging it in? I wouldn't expect you to see the firefirefire triangle if the device is off while charging.
The other thing that you might want to look into is the factory cable. Supposedly charges the device and can access it w/o any battery power at all - if I understand that thread correctly.
The point is you can't turn it off, it's dead. If you try to put it on charger either through wall charger or USB, it blinks on and off repeatedly and the power button does nothing at all. The computer won't recognize (tried several diff ports and pcs)
I'm beginning to think the factory cable is my only option to bypass the bootloop and fix it, just hoping I wouldn't have to wait so long for a cable or drop 40 bucks on it. I guess that's what I get for messing something up!
I left it bootlooping for like 6 hours on the charger. Unplug it and you can't turn it on. Plug it in and it bootloops and you can't turn it off. So is this just bricked for good with no possible fix?

You may want to PM SkOrPn, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23024666&postcount=108, seems like he has them for $15/$19 depending on length (if your location is accurate.)
Kindle fire turning on and off by itself and won't charge
The only way I know around that problem is unfortunately to remove the back cover and remove the battery with a good adjustable power supply apply 3.7V to the battery for a 30 to 60sec it will draw approx. 3.4A and over the 30 - 60sec the current draw by the battery will drop. Be very careful as you don’t want to blow it up. Put the battery back in and you should find the kindle will charge again. Good luck
Hmmm, I wonder if the factory cable would be an alternative as last I checked an adjustable power supply (if you're without one) can run 70-100 bucks which is half of the kindle itself, I'd almost just take my chances sending it back in to amazon. Thanks for the help though from someone who has had the problem

[Q] Badly bricked Kindle Fire

Hi Guys,
I have TWRP and Fire Fire Fire installed on my KF and have been running the various ICS ROM's up until the 24-02 ROM which was installed and running smoothly. Then I didn't use or charge my KF for about two weeks and now it is stuck in a boot loop. Basically, the Fire Fire Fire yellow triangle logo shows when I plug it into the charger, the power button goes green and then about 3 - 4 seconds later the screen and button go dead for about 1-2 seconds and then it just repeats i.e. starts up, shows yellow triangle, dies.
Here's what I've tried:
- Pressing the power button, the power button does not change colour nor does it launch TWRP
- Pressing and holding the power button for 20 seconds like is suggested in other posts does not do anything - it just keeps running through the loop of yellow triangle logo, black screen.
- Using KF Utility 0.9.3 to set the boot mode. Mostly, the KF does not even get recognised by Windows. However, every now and then it starts up for long enough for KF Utility to recognise it and set the boot mode. But this has not fixed the boot loop.
Can anyone suggest anything else I should try?
Thanks!
It looks like the KF is in fastboot mode. Have you you tried to use fastboot command to reboot to normal.
As part of kfu utility under tools folder, there is a fastboot command. Just open a command window and change to that folder and issue one of the following command and press the power button to shutdown for 20 sec and press it again to switch it on and see if you get a feedback from KF. Then issue fastboot reboot.
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
or
fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000
then fastboot reboot
Sent from my Amazon Kindle Fire using Tapatalk
You can use the KFU to get the stock update.zip (4 in run), if you don't have extremely important information that you can't lose.
Didnt Work
I tried your suggestion @ammubarak. However, it didn't work. Pressing and holding the power button for 20s or longer does not do anything.
Output from fastboot:
Code:
C:\kfu\tools>fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
< waiting for device >
... FAILED (command write failed (Too many links))
finished. total time: -0.000s
looks like dead battery
would plug it to the wall charger for some hours - best over night
see this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1553648
there are a lot of others like that - it was allways the battery

First, try to charge your KF for 1-2 hours.
Then turn it on , and as green light dimmed, press and hold power button until light goes orange.
If you have twrp or cwm you will get the recovery app.
then use adb and KFU as normal.
Charging
Hi guys,
Thanks for your suggestions. I left it on charge overnight last night (~8 hours) on top of being on charge overnight the previous night for a similar time period and still no joy. Still in a cycle of:
1. Startup, show yellow triangle logo (2 - 3 seconds),
2. Screen goes dead, completely black and power button light goes out too (1 - 2 seconds.
3. Repeat @ 1.
Pressing the power button does not turn it orange, nor does pressing the power button for a long time >20sec do anything. If i unplug from the wall charger, it immediately goes blank and there is no charge in the battery / it won't startup.
If i connect it to my pc, it exhibits the same behaviour as when connected to the wall charger. I can hear the "device connection" sound followed quickly by the "device disconnection sound". This only happens the one time - i.e. when it boots and shows the fire fire fire yellow triangle on subsequent times, windows does not connect to the kindle fire.
Thanks again for any help.

Try that thread. Starting from #226, read about 20 posts.
Solved
The last tip did the trick - I had misplaced my original charger and have been using an after-market charger rated at 1A. It seems nearly all USB chargers on the market in Australia have a maximum draw of 1A and that wasn't sufficient to charge my very flat KF battery. After checking OfficeWorks and **** Smith Electronics, I found a 2A BlackBerry Playbook charger at the Telstra store that did the trick.
Thanks for all your help!

Nexus 7 Black Screen

Today I picked up may Nexus 7 and noticed it will not turn on. I let it charge for an hour or so, but then when I tried to start it up, I saw just a black screen. The screen turns on (backlight turns on), but still just a black screen. I read something on the internet about pressing the power button for a full 30 seconds, so I tried that. This time, I got it to flash (for a fraction of a second) the word "Google", and then it was back to the black screen of nothing.
I've never rooted, never tried to do anything fancy with it. I've factory resetted it once after an update to the OS happened.
Is there anything I can do?
You sure it gets juice? Does your charger feel hot after charging some time?
I had this to once, but got it fixed by holding the power button...

Sounds like a charging /battery issue if the 30 sec power didnt work.Did you try a different charger?
Some people have reported weird issues like this that have been rectified by a prolonged charging.
Thanks
It acted strange, but it came back from the dead:
It said "google" for 10 seconds, then a few seconds of black screen, then another 10 seconds of "google", then it booted just enough to tell me that it was going to shut down because of low battery. I let it charge another hour and then it was fine!

Quirky little buggers aren't they? Mine did it once and not since.
I just goy my N7 today, plugged in the wall charger, and I'm stuck at black screen, I did the 30 secs hold power button but it's still and black screen. Also I tried this:
1. Plug-in your dead N7 to a wall charger. (Jump immediately to step 2.)
2. Immediately after plugging it in, press Volume Down and Power at the same time.
3. Once in the bootloader menu, use Volume Down until you see “Power Off Device.”
4. Choose that option with the Power button.
5. Once your device is off, unplug the charger and then plug it back into the device.
Still at black screen, any advice???
I'm sorry for posting in this old thread.

I just solved this, I opened my N7 to check the battery and it turns out it wasn't correctly connected... Just unplugged it and plug in again correctly to make it work!

Boom!
I was having the same problem. Plugged it into a power source, backlight would come on with a black screen. Got it to show the Google splash screen a few times, but it just wouldn't boot. Tried ADB, but it wouldn't even acknowledge the thing was connected to the PC. I tried a pile of stuffs. Then I read this post. I never thought to check if the thing was actually connected, it wasn't!
Fully functional device now. Thanks for the idea! :good:

[Q] Random reboot and no longer booting

Hi, so I've been doing a fair bit of reading, but I've not really found anything thats exactly like my issue.
So I got the Nexus 4 yesterday, today I've been using it for probably 3 hours, it was charged overnight last night to 100% and was still at about 65% when the phone randomly rebooted, no force close or anything. So it attempted to boot back up, showed the Google logo and then the nexus X, before going to a black screen.
From here I can't turn it back on, I've tried:
Power - up to 60 seconds
Power + Vol Up - up to 30 seconds
Power + Both Vol - up to 60 seconds
I then plugged it in to the wall (using the charger provided), there is no sign of life still, no battery charging screen, no flashing red led.
If I hold down the power button, while the phone is on charge, I do get the flashing red led.
Is this a case of leaving it to charge and assuming the battery is completely drained, or should I be contacting Google to start an RMA?
Should probably say, as I've only had it a day, no root, no custom rom, everything stock and on 4.2.2
Thanks.
