So I faced the no network signal issue yet again today, and I know I may be the Nth guy who's repeating it again, but since I searched throughout the forums, and the web, but to no avail, I desperately need help here.
Mine is a Defy+, with stock rooted 2.3.4 Asia retail unlocked. My carrier is Vodafone India.
This is what I did:
- Took a backup of everything, even nandroid.
- Installed Defy 2ndinit, and got the bootmenu installed.
- Reboot>vol down on blue led>bootmenu>recovery>custom recovery
- Here I did a factory setting>Wipe Data>Wipe Dalvik Cache>Wipe Cache.
- Next>Install zip from sd>11.10 JB Defy+ Quark's ROM>Update v2>Custom GAPPS
- At this point, the phone rebooted coz there was no other option.
At first boot, it took a loooooooong time, but finally I booted into JB! Result!
But alas, there was no network signal to be found, while my other vodafone india handset had full signal.
Hence, I couldn't set up my google account, and thought, that I could fix it once I proceed.
- I tried the airplane mode on/off method: No success.
- I tried rebooting several times: No success
- I tried clearing cache & dalvik cache and then rebooting: No success
- I tried fiddling with the baseband switcher, and trying different profiles, other countries etc etc: No success.
- The phone wouldn't connect to the WEP, WPA2, or No authentication(open) ad-hoc wi-fi interent connections that I shared via my laptop either. It easily connected earlier on GB 2.3.4 stock.
- I tried manually searching for a network as well, and found EVERY network EXCEPT for Vodafone India, which my sim could register to. This, while my other vodafone phone was lying right beside it with FULL signal.
The ROM was working beautifully, with all the bells and whistles, albeit a bit laggy, but that could easily be fixed later. The main problem being that this issue, doesn't lemme get data access on my phone either, so its essentially just a dumb-phone then.
This had happened earlier as well, when I had tried to multi-boot ICS CM9, with my stock 2.3.4
Then, I couldnt part with the stock ROM, and hence I believed that the no network issue could be due to multi-booting, and would be resolved with a complete install.
Now, I love JB, and everything it comes with, but I am stuck with this essentially simple issue. Please help me out here.
Hey gautam,
i have a defy on vodafone mumbai (not a defy+) and i dont seem to have a problem. I hadvent used CM10 i was on 7.2 and i used central europe as my baseband in the baseband switcher. But actually i had signal straight out of the box with 7.2. I would suggest you try with another sim card. Or try downgrading. It could be because 11.10 is custom kernel one but nogoodusername is also an indian and is using custom kernels. I doubt its a baseband problem because you can see and register on other networks. I think possibly something was corrupted by your install since not even your wifi is not working some radio drivers could be bugged.
If its not your sim a reflash of OS might be required. If you're downgrading to GB you may need to reflash your kernel to get off Quarx's

Will try and find out if this works..
Please keep sharing any other solutions in case this doesn't work..
If you have IMEI number use Baseband switcher , play with is a little bit.
if not , backup your rom , flash stock SBF. <wipes and all with stock recovery>
boot to stock FW , and now you 2 options :
Case 1:- You don't have signal , and even if you don't have IMEI number in stock , root it and use the baseband switcher on the stock , make sure you reboot every BB switch , and that Signal bar even tries to increase <even a little bit.>
Case 2:- You have signal .
please try these steps to get network

Thanks, It resolved weak network issue which I was facing from last 2-3 weeks
Hey all,
I bought a locked to Rogers Network SGS4 1337M. I am a Bell customer, so I had the phone unlocked. The phone for some reason shows some Telus icons.
More bothersome, the wi-fi no longer works on the phone and gets stuck on "turning on". I tried factory reset etc...all to no avail.
I have decided to install Odin and flash an older version of android onto the phone as I heard this fixed the issue for some people. I have a few questions...
1) Can I flash a stock Bell mobility rom onto the phone even though it was once Rogers? (phone is now unlocked)
2) The phone came with 4.3, can I still downgrade? (I don't know if the other person upgraded it or not)
3) If I flash the Bell rom, will it re-lock the phone?
Thanks!!
Hello helpful people,
After much reading, I've tried to root my Defy+ (red lens), Telstra Australia, with 2.3.6 and BL7 (should never have done the update... ) and it was unsuccessful. Wouldn't load up after flashing firmware zip, tried all the fixes I could find and ended up going back to the stock sbf and have since done multiple factory resets.
Anyway... now my reception seems to have lost power. It still connects to 2g, 3g, internet etc but it's noticeably weaker. And...
The blue Telstra screen that used to appear at startup is gone.
Is there a better sbf I should be using? I think I used Blur_Version.45.0.2310.MB526.Retail.en.AU from the sbf droid site.
SIM still works fine in another phone. Telstra shop staff were predictably useless. Bit weird huh.
Thanks.
Use framaroot to root.

Long story short. Picked up a used Defy locked to Telus (Canadian). Rooted phone. Installed TWRP. Installed CM11 as per this site, took a while to find all the needed files, but it works. A little slow, but works and thanks to everyone who made this happen.
My problem is now the sim is still locked to Telus. I need it unlocked to use on Wind. (same system as TMobile) I tried soft unlock but without a telus sim to start from it will not work. Unlock code will only work on factory phone or so it seems. How can I get this phone back to factory or close to factory?
I am a dumbass and didn't backup original rom (sbf file). I think i should be able to get away with a Tmobile sbf but I can not wrap my head around getting the phone to take a stock froyo rom? I believe the problem is ext4 vs ext3 and I have tried everything I could find reverting but not have had any luck.
Can someone provide a NOOB like me some direction or a link to still active links to the needed files.
Thank you
Steve
Hey,
anyone here with a ZTE Blade L6 and a running (stock) rom? I bricked mine using some chinese adware-root. After flashing a described as "stock" rom firmware image, i had the phone up and running, branded and netlocked by Digicel. With a little dirty work i now have it mostly unbranded and with another modem even online.
Now, my problem is the modem/baseband. Some give me emergency-calls and a working data connection (but only GPRS/Edge), some even the ability to make phone calls. BUT: I never got back the 3g/wcdma. The Mediatek Engineering-Mode tells me, its using the bands 850/2000(2100), 900 is grayed. As i am in Germany, this should be the issue.
Is anybody in here, who has a working L6 rom or knows how to unlock the wcdma-900 band?
My NVRAM doesnt seem to be changed, my IMEIs are still there..
Thanks in advance!
"Even if it was unlocked, your antenna wont do it!" isnt the right answer, it did before so why shouldnt it now? And its just 50 Mhz..
Same here, I need the real stock ROM or a working C-ROM for the ZTE Blade L6, not the Digicel FW. My phone has been "SIM-slot is permanently locked" after inserted a Sim Card which wasnt supposed for this ROM/Provider, it seems.
I would appreciate it if someone has the S- or C-ROM or knows how to unlock the permanently locked slot again. OEM Bootload unlock (via ADB - I needed to confirm the OEM unlocking with the Powerbutton on the phone but it doesnt react) and ReInstalling the Digi-ROM wasnt helpful.
I unlocked mine using the modem of the L5 Plus-rom. The modem goes to emergency mode every few minutes and data isnt working good too (no 3g, even though i fixed the bandmode somehow), but it gives you a little bit connectivity.
Just grab the L5-Rom, mount the system-images of the digicel-l6-rom and the l5 and replace the modem in /etc/firmware with the l5-one.
You can flash the L5-system too (only system, nothing else!, at least NOT the boot.img). But for me it shows a data connection but cant use it..

Nice, as soon I have time, I will give a try on this. :good:

Like said, doesnt work properly. :/ Crashes and disconnect. Well, it´s just my fun-phone to test out some roms and recovs, so it´s not that important.
Ok, since I´ve managed to revive my "playphone", I´ve made a fastboot-flashable nandroid backup. It includes also i.a. a custom recovery from TWRP in an extra-folder.
If someone just need the custom recovery w/o loading the whole ROM, click the 2nd link.
