thanks for watching

Only if you still got into 1 of the bootloader menu ... for those who has stuck on the logo with no menu, i hope some genius will find away to reflash them (via jtag ???) someone notice the 4 dots between the CPU and battery connection? maybe it's a jtag, but event if it a jtag, i'm wondering if we have a App and files to flash it?

I like jtags also it was a fun hobby when i did it

he he he ... samsung galaxy tab (and some phone) do have jtag, check out sumsung to see how they do "full recovery" with jtag

i have riff jtag box. if i have pinouts i can re-flash it. well i dont have totally off xoom. bt if i have one i will make a jtag for you guys

[Q] Tattoo Bricked

Hello,
I tried to update the radio and the SPL version on my Tattoo. Everything went fine until I had to reboot my phone. It shut down alright, but it never powered on again.
These are the following problems I am having with my Tattoo at the moment:
Cannot power on phone.
Cannot boot into recovery mode.
Cannot boot into FastBoot.
When I connect it to my computer via USB, nothing happens.
The only thing that it's responding to is when I connect my it to my charger.
Does anyone have a solution or is my phone dead forever?
Thanks ahead!
bump? anyone?
Send it back to HTC. If anyone can do anything about it they can. There's nothing else you can do. Sorry
boo.. that sucks..
Well, thanks anyway
Ehm, I don't want to post a New Thread so I'm gonna ask here:
Does anyone have the pinout for the Tattoo?
Take a look at this. I guess they fix such things (but you never know if they just are after your money. http://www.ort-jtag.com/index.php
Yeah I saw that already. Also, there is a file name Tattoo Jtag on their website in the Support section. However, to access that section you have to enter your products serial number (which is I'm guessing the phone's serial number). I have tried several serial numbers (including mine) and all of them were 'invalid' so I never checked the files out.
Also, they only have one thing in the shop which is a kit and it costs $330 so no thanks
I have a similar problem, I would like to share my knowledge although I must be completely out of way.
My experience is based on the BeagleBoard and Angstrom so I really don't know the HTC HW and Android at all...
- The device boots from an xloader that instructs the device how to proceed with the boot
- the bootloader takes place (great u-boot in the beagleboard ?? in the HTC phone) the bootloader allows for ROM or kernel+rootfs flashing and much more
- now the kernel is loaded.....
User mode applications do not allow to have access to the memory area where xloader and u-boot lie so they should be safe all the time to allow for device reflashing.
So we should have access to the device via bootloader anytime if we knew how... maybe somebody can help us further.
Fabio
Same here...Exact same issue...No Recovery mode...No USB Connectivity, Screen turns on but is blank, alhough I did see Tattoo popping up initially but not any more...All I can see is the LCD back light turns on...Battery does charge...Also when I try to enter Recovery mode screen keeps blinking as if it is trying to restart again and again...Someone help
similar problem here, but i get absolutely no response from the phone, it doesn't even recognize the charger. do i just throw it away and buy a decent one or is there a solution?
Sparky the only way for now to fix that click is to bring it to some service point that have that ort jtag, because only way to fix that is to writte new boot sector on phone . Im sure that i know at least 2 services that have ort jtag in Novi Sad . Look for marvel *Miroslav in Ns, or send me private message
same thing happened to me
just this morning, and in desperation I tried hard to remove the batt cover (prob pressed some of buttons, I felt a jerk and ho it was back in amon ra`s recovery, nect time I just removed the battery waited for 30 secs, then press off&home and hold it till recovery came back) but for good half hour NO REACTIONS , ABSOLUTE BRICK, nothing when I put the usb in PC or in socket, dead screen, no sounds and no reaction to ANY combination of keypress. I guess you could call me lucky (in last few days I flashed at least 3 versions of froyo roms, this afternoon I bought =8GB class4 Kingston, formated it in PC FAT32 default size, copied EVE. from my 2gig rom then just turned it down (yes I am brave) and put the 8gig in tattoo, it works like a charm (finger crossed it will continue)
So is there an available Jtag for the Tattoo yet?
I'm in the same situation. No recovery no fast boot, Damm!
I`ve update psfreedom with psgroove_hermes_v4 zip file then my tattoo reboot and now I only get the Tatto title screen but nothing happends.
Somebody have clue to give back life my phone.
Thanks!
if you can get to the title screen, that means you can connect it to your pc via USB and recover from a backup (I hope you made one)
Hello, I connect my tattoo to my pc, but usb connection is not available yet.
Is There is a way to activate usb when my phone blocks in tattoo logo??
Thanks for reply.

Totally bricked my Samsung Galaxy Tab P-i9000

Hello - I urgently need help with my Samsung Galaxy Tab.
I flashed a wrong PIT/PDA & what happened is:
- my Galaxy Tab does not reboot at all
- the flashlight in the back suddenly switched ON automatically
No matter how long I press the Power Button, the device switches off just for one second, and then the flashlight switches ON again - but no reboot.
I cannot get into download mode / when I try to use commands with Odin, it only says: error: device not found.
Odin does show my device ([COM:4]), it appears as: Added // only the download mode does not work!
When I tried to start SuperOneClick, trying to Unroot, it is stuck with: "Waiting for device"
Weirdly, though, my netbook does install the drivers automatically when I plug it in. Which means, my netbook can "read" the device.
Does anyone here know how I could make the extreme Hard Reset, without having to reboot?
--------------------------
If you think this post should rather go to the Developers section, please feel free to move it // I am thankful for any help
Have you tried connecting to it with ADB to see if you can reach it at this level (apart from with SuperOneClick)? Try installing the Droid Explorer application on your Windows PC and see if it will recognise your Tab. If it will you should be able to initiate a reset from the Droid Explorer UI. If it won't I would suggest that you are hard bricked and it will have to visit Samsung. Good luck!
Hello,
thank you for your advice.
adb does not detect my device ..
and, unfortunately, neither does Droid Explorer
Just find it so strange that ODIN does ..
but like you said -
I am also afraid, that this is a "hard brick" & I will go see the retailer tomorrow.
Thank you, though, for offering help.

If Odin sees it, its not bricked. What image is on the LCD when Odin sees it, or is it blank?

I guess the problem here is that even if Odin sees the USB device connected, if the Tab won't go into download mode then it's as good as bricked. With the SGS you can construct a USB jig with a 301k resistor between pins 4 and 5 of the micro USB to push the device into download mode if it won't respond any other way. I wonder if a similar thing would work for the Tab... Sounds like a challenge for someone who has two Tabs and doesn't mind experimenting a bit with one of them.

lol, I'll get my cheap Chinese Tab cables this week and hack one up to test.
My guess is that Odin will only see the Tab when it is in download mode. Id try flashing it in that state and find out for sure. It sure cant hurt.
You went to your retailer?I have exactly the same problem!!
First of all - THANK YOU for having started this discussion.
Yes, I went to the retailer. My Galaxy Tab is with Samsung Technical Support now; will keep you posted.
To answer some earlier questions, yes ODIN did recognize my Tab; but the screen on the Tab remained totally black. Only this strange "flash" light on the back kept glowing.
rotohammer, if you really get to test what you mentioned before, I'd be interested to hear what happened - but, personally I would not recommend it, unless you are sure you want to risk completely ruining your dear Tab.

I did ... and less than 2 weeks later ..
Update:
13-Jan-2011
Today noon I got a call from my retailer my Galaxy Tab was ready to be picked up & I was really lucky: my retailer said the repair would normally cost EUR 650.-
.. as I had damaged the whole mainboard ..
but as the Tab was less than 1 month old, they were so kind to do it w/in my warranty - so I did not have to pay for it.
I'm very relieved, as you can imagine.
Got my Galaxy Tab back with a brand-new mainboard, everything is working well &
I sure learned my lesson.
I will not flash the Galaxy Tab again.
Only because Galaxy Tab and Galaxy i9000 are both on Froyo, it does NOT mean that you can flash the same software!
I wanted to apply the 3 button combo fix on my Galaxy Tab but apparently it does not work!
Bricked mine as well, but mine is a weird case
I bring up the weirdest case of bricking so far, i was on an official Arabic (P1000JPJK2)Firmware, and i noticed a new Arabic release on SamsungFirmware.com (P1000JPJM3) i downloaded it and downloaded the .pit file, Started Odin v1.7 and unchecked repartition, selected the PDA and the pit and started the processes, odin finished and Reseted the device and give me the green light with the word PASS, however, the my p1000 decided to reboot into download mode automatically, so i rebooted the device manually and got stock in the Samsung Logo and keeps looping. so i decided to go back to my previous Rom but it will always fail and i would have to reboot my tab and it will show the good ol' Phon-PC logos, however, odin would see it and would flash anything i want. i tried flashing various versions of rom's but they would all fail... i tried repartition checked and unchecked and nothing worked, so lastly i decided to flash the .pit file alone and that worked and got me back to where i was stuck in the Samsung logo loop and no ROM would be flashed through Odin BUT the (P1000JPJM3) but it still will not boot! and funny enough i took it to sammy's repair shop and they told me to come pick it up in a few hours but they told me that they failed to repair it and they would need to keep it till tomorrow, but they guy was not that optimistic about getting it repaired and to make things worse i couldn't get unrooted so there is a good chance that there will be no warranty... does this mean that i bricked it for good? please help me.

need help wit sgt-p1010, please!!!!!!!

hey guys is will need some help with this device im not kind of a noobie on this kind of things bcs i been working with several phones, like the veteran xperia10, galaxy ace, motoroi2, etc etc. but never with a tablet
here is what it happens a friend ask me if i can upgrade his sgt-p1010 to a newer version, honeycomb or maybe ics, i´ve read a lot of posts regarding this on how to upgrade it trough odin everything was fine until the reboot of the device, bcs by my mistake i flash a rom of the 7.7" tab and this one is a 7" only now the tab is not turning on, odin is not recognizing it, either samsung kies or the pc. buttons are not responding it wont charge and cant enter to download mode.
I REALLY NEED HELP FROM U GUYS, HOPE U CAN HELP ME
ps. srry for my english
This kind of thing can result in the inability to boot which can only be repaired by the use of specific hardware, i.e. this could be a "hard brick". Then again, maybe it can be restored to working order by flashing it again (a "soft brick"). So the very first thing you need to know is, can it get to download mode?
Turn it off, if it's switched on, and charge it for a couple of hours, say four hours. Use the original charger connected to mains. It doesn't matter if it shows anything, or nothing on the screen, let it charge. This is to make sure flashing it won't fail because it doesn't hold a charge.
Now connect it to the PC with the original USB cable. Then after making sure it's switched off, switch it on by pressing the On/Off button, while simultaneously the Volume UP switch. Press them both at the same time, and keep them pressed! If you're lucky you'll get the yellow graphic with the download text. A phone symbol, an !, and a PC symbol is fine too. Even if it doesn't show anything, you may be in download mode, so install the right drivers, and hopefully Odin or Heimdall will recognise is, and will allow you to flash the right ROM.
well i already let it charge for all night long and nothing happens after i perfomed the flashing the screen was totally in black but it doesnt shoes anything i mean the tab was turned on, then apparently batterie dies and after that is not charging. already tried with the heimdall thing but it says that device is not connected.
I think that this is going to be a HARD BRICK
so do u thhink there is another way to solve it?????
or it will be necessary the JTAG stuff???? bcs i dont want to try that it seems that is very difficult to me bcs i dont know nothing about hardware jejejeje
You have installed the Heimdall driver? It's called zadig.exe. Then you have to go to download mode and connect the Tab to the PC with the USB cable. Then Heimdall hopefully will detect the Tab.
If there's no way software will revive the Tab, it's hard bricked and will need hardware to get it working again. There's this guy mobiletechvideos.com who will repair any kind of brick. Basically he uses the JTAG on the board of the Tab and a special box to flash the right ROM to the Tab, even when it's dead. Some here have tried the service, and they say he's quite reliable. Another way is to modify your Tab with Adam Outler's Unbrickable Mod. It's brilliant, you can't soft brick your Tab after that, but it involves soldering very small components on the board of the Tab. The mobiletechvideos guy can do it for you I believe.
Well, I guess you just got a hardbrick .
The only way to fix this problem is go to SAMSUNG SERVICE CENTER.

[Work in progress] Alcatel Pop D5

So I was dumb enough to brick my OT 5038X by flashing boot image via fastboot. I'm gathering all the info I can and I'll be posting my progress here.
If you're looking for a root, just download mobogenie on PC, than KingRoot app on your phone. You'll be able to have SU in ROM Toolbox.
Here are some pictures, and what got my attention:
Is there any chance of unbricking my phone? I can't get any info on this, just a lot of people with the similar problems as me
Main problem we have here is that SP flash tool won't download. It reads back, but download is impossible, cause device disconnects when you try downloading. I tried without a battery, with a battery, with volume key down, with volume key up, and all possible hardkey combiations. I think that by soldering some of these soldering points together I can get it to work. I'll try measuring pins with multimeter for safety, so i don't burn something on my motherboard, I'll also try finding jtag pins that are in use. But I'll have to buy a "smarter" multimeter, so i dont get parallel port burnt, or phone mobo again. I have few multimeters, but all of them are cheap crappy chinese ones, and they don't read correctly.
According to MT6582 datasheet, there are 4 jtag pins, so there is just one unused pin. Hopefully I'll be able to write a program in C that will allow me to listen to the parallel port data so i can indentify which pins do what.

Hello, i have one small question. How did you flash the boot img through fastboot. I want the extact command. Also if you have adb then you isn't hard bricked because the adb-daemon boots with the kernel(bootimg).
Generally the jtag is for unbricking hard-bricked devices. You know with damaged bootloaders (IBL, SBL etc). And usually the points are close to the battery connector or behind the battery connector. And think these are your jtag point. There should be some GND points that's why you have 7 pins. You can identify which pins are GND with a multimeter.
And maybe is easy to unbrick your phone vio recovery mode. Have you tried to flash a full rom or a boot img?

I tried, but I don't have factory update, and my phone is running factory recovery. I know my phone isn't hardbricked, but I can't unbrick it, so JTAG is an option. I flashed bootimg with "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
OK... So I didnt miss being a idiot today again. Now I dont have ADB and recovery anymore. I flashed recovery with MTK droid tools generated image. But I did realize that it may be possible to unbrick this phone with SPFlash tool. This is the error I get:
Code:

First of all, jtag generally it's an expesive and a more difficult way to unbrick your phone. Also with jtag you don't flash the whole firmware. You only upload to the memory a bootloader which handles the update through sp flash tool let's say. And you flash your firmware.
Also if you find a factory pdate you can flash it through recovery. Was the boot.img faulty?
Boot image I used for flashing was for 5038D i think, there's not much of a difference between these two phones, but still it was enough to f*ck up my phone. I managed to get SP flash tools to the next level (luckily I have valid scatter file), but now I'm getting an error :
Anyway I want to find out where and what are the exact pins for JTAG, so I can help people who got hard bricked. It's not expensive if its possible to do it without extra tools. I hope i can do something by listening to paralell :/ I mentioned multimeter, I want to check if there's an power pin on jtag, so i dont get phone or parallel port burned.
Also there is no stock rom available for download, but there is source code on alcatel site.

I have done some research for jtag recently and usually you want a dev board to access the cpu of the phone. Maybe you can do it with the parallel but I'm not sure. With a dev board it's easier. Also we can make our dev board for jtaging and we can load on it openocd. It's a very good software fordebugging and jtaging.
Also there are many cheap boards in the web for example bus pirate (35$).
And there no Vcc pins or power pins in jtag. You power your phone from battery or from external power. There only TDI, TDO, TMS, TCK, TRST(optional).

Bus pirate seems like a great solution for me. Thanks for the info on JTAG. To be honest i didn't do any jtaging on "modern" phones. I did however jtaged xperia x1, and as i can remember there were VCC and GND, regardless of port you choose. Im also absolutely sure that one router i jtaged had power pins.
Anyway I managed to find POP D5 with stock firmware, so as soon as i get my hands on it Ill be writing a tutorial for soft bricked phones.

I'm happy to hear that you can unbrick your phone. But it would be nice to do some research how to jtag different phones. I know that it is difficult but as I understood your a hardware guy and you can solder wires to phones etc. So if you want I can help you to start a R&D thread with information...
Thanks for all the info. I'll order a bus pirate, regardless of this method I'll try with the parallel port. I definitely need one, cause I mess around with hardware a lot. I'm also willing to learn, so message me if you will with some interesting material. We can start a thread, why not. But let me do something concrete first.

What about Furious Gold? h t t p : // w w w .furiousgold . com /en/ module/ mtk-code-reader
The phone is not hardware-brick, but is lock by software. There got to be a way to bypass or pause the software for locking the USB port. I do not know if it could be possible but connecting the on-board memory to a USB adapter reader with the phone completely off. I am sure there is a way!

SM-950F Hard bricked, JTAG?

Hey
So I was flashing android 7.0 to an S8 and it completely died, this is how completely:
- No screen/LED/vibration motor
- No safety/recovery/download mode (and don't ask about button combos, I've tried them all)
- No USB recognition from device manager (not even as exynos in other devices, just nothing)
- USB jig does nothing
- It is however recognised by wireless chargers (but I doubt that has any real significance)
At this point my question is would a JTAG even work on it? Or is my only hope a complete motherboard replacement?

Jtag dead phone to life and rewrite IMEI
I had the same thing, sent it to Fonefunshop in England, they said they could fix it, the didn't even open it as discovered by the guys who fixed it and is necessary to use jtag.
Fonefunshop said eMMC chip was bad, which is not true, but that led me to search for someone to replace the chip. I found A2Z cellular in Ottawa, Canada. They got the phone to boot up, but IMMEI was null( I did this trying to flash back to stock after TWRP screwed up). They rewrote original IMEI , now phone works like new. These guys are amazing.

Thank you all for the advice.
But I have now managed to unbrick and reflash the firmware. khawarjaved's advice turned out to be what fixed it in the end.
That was close, nearly lost £30

I'm in kind of a similar situation....I think I flashed MY 950U PIE with wrong BL
This phone is dead....Doesn't boot...no download mode....No recovery mode....
When connected to pc....device manager Recognises device as QUALCOMM HS USB 9008
Any way to brig it back to life...?
Your phone is connected in edl download mod. It will accept special files which will allow it to boot to download mode and let you flash stock firmware
The tool used for this is emmcdl.exe
It has to come with phone specific files
No idea where to get it. Ask people here, those who root phones. They know.
