I have the $15 unlimited data plan for non-smartphones with AT&T. Will I be able to use an unlocked Bell Atrix and keep my existing data plan with AT&T? Since AT&T also has the atrix, I'm concerned that AT&T will know what phone I'm using and make me switch to a different data plan. Please advise.

Hello All - My wife has a Samsung Epix i970. We're on AT&T. AT&T sent me a text message to her phone saying that her smartphone requires a data plan, and they AUTOMATICALLY added a $30/month data plan to her phone.
I had previously added the $10/month unlimited plan to her phone that's available for the family plan. So, SOMEHOW AT&T has detected that she has the Epix and automatically changed the plan.
Any ideas as to how I can keep AT&T from noticing that she has that phone on the system?
Thanks.
i think they always had the ability to do that but opted not to force smartphone data plans on customers, apparantely that has changed.
Same here
Yeah, same situation with my LG Expo. I also had the $10/month data plan and now its the $30 one. Sucks.

But in most cases, that means a LOT more money for another device. Sprint and Verizon both are hard-wired. I'm on AT&T, which means that T-Mobile is my only other choice (I think). They also operate by SIM card.
I'm screwed...
Can anyone advise me on whether or not an unlocked TMO myTouch will work on AT&T and take advantage of the 3G data capabilities?
I currently own an HD2 and it will not do 3G data on AT&T.
My existing plan is the $10 unlimited data, will AT&T see it as a "smart phone" like an iPhone? Is tethering possible with the myTouck?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
No T-mpbile phone can get 3g speeds on AT&T towers, and vice versa.
I have both phones also on ATT. I use the same data plan as you. Never had any problems, even when I call in they do no see what phone I am using. ATT doesn't register T-Mobile imei numbers as far as I know. I've been using T-Mobile phones on ATT for 9 years with no troubles. As you know, you just do not get ATT 3g. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info.
where do you get the $10 unlimited data plan? All I have been able to find is the $30 unlimited data plan.

AT&T has them for "dumb" phones (NOT PDA's)
I know that for this plan to work with smart phones you need an additional data plan. I have a S2 I was wondering is it possible to get around it? My GF has a GoPhone can I just get her IMEI and go in the store and get a sim and say thats my IMEI or would it lock the sim to that phone?
I'm currently with T-mobile, but I can't get WCDMA/HSPA at all. When I set it WCDMA it wont pick up t-mobile and ill have to go back to Edge. This is why I want to go to AT&T
Thanks.
If you have the international GSII, then you should be able to use the $50 medianet plan. Plenty of other folks have already done it. But if you have a branded device, it won't work.

I currently have a international GSII after 2 months with my $50 gophone unlimited plan the data is not working anymore. Please somebody confirm if have the same problem or is just me.
has anyone tried to use the nexus4 with that $10 UMB plan? does rogers know how to IMEI blacklist these new phones? i mean if AT and T recognizes this phone as a 'basic' phone, rogers might allow it on the UMB plan and not think its a smartphone
T-Mobile have this unlimited plan on prepaid phones and I have the exynos phone which I know that doesn't have 4g. But I also heard that it can work on any phone with 1900MH channel which I have. Is it possible to use this plan with unlimited data on my phone or not?
