On a Sense-based ROM, check in com.htc.resources.apk, the icons you're looking for are in res/drawable-mdpi. There's a set of .png's that end with _3g, and a set that end with _evdo. I just copied the 3g icons and renamed them to _evdo, so that both the _3g and _evdo icons are the same. Should fix the status bar.

Sense Battery Icon with Percentage (Thanks to UOT Kitchen and my Quick Settings skills ):
Clicking the memory item in quick settings force closes the notifications window. Don't know if it is happening to anyone else or if its just me. Loving the battery percentage on top of the battery and the new quick settings. Thanks

Hi all,
I know how to change the png's ect, and I know how to decompile the framework and system ui apks, but my problem is this:
The system ui apk only has something like 12 battery icon png's by default, so if I go and add something like 110 percentage battery icons, I will also have to edit some of the code ect to make the system recognise all of the battery images.
But I am not sure which code to edit, and I don't know how to edit it.
Would someone please be able to tell me how I would edit the code, as I know everything else about how to make the percentage battery mod, but I just need to edit the code.
Cheers
Corey

You need to decompile systemui.apk, edit 2 xml's (battery charging and one other in /Res/drawable - easiest to just take them from another 1% battery mod), and then add the images to the correct dpi folder. You can also try uot kitchen which will do it for you if you upload your framework-res.apk and systemui.apk. then you can compare the changes it makes to the xmls. Sorry its not more specific, but I can't remember it off the top of my head.

Ok, thanks heaps.
I will have a go at making a mod tomorrow
Just one question, can I pull those 2 xml's from a non Nexus 7 battery mod? As if not, I will have to just edit the files, as the is no % battery mod available yet for the n7
Cheers

And do u know where I can find those two xmls? As I can't seem to find them in settings.apk

Edit:
I have found a xmlfile called "battery info" is that the right one?.
And do u know the name of the other xml file I need to edit?
Thanks again

Glad you figured it out. The .xml's from another battery mod should be fine.
They are SystemUI.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery.xml and SystemUI.apk/res/drawable/stat_sys_battery_charge.xml (just in case it helps others).
As I am new to the Android platform I would like to know how to change my icons. I plan on flashing to the Eclipse ROM, but I do not like the icons on it. I either want to use stock or a minimalist icon set.
If anyone can tell me what to use to do this, and possibly some good icon sets I would appreciate it very much.

Try adw launcher. Has a bunch of themes to pick from which have any number of plug and play icons. Of you are talking about the status indicators such as Battery and signal that's when you need to think about a ROM. Otherwise a launcher with theme support is all you need.

I cannot find a way to have the battery % show itself in the status bar with the odexed 5.0 system. I have at least been able to show the battery percentage in the lockscreen status bar. I've also changed the carrier text to green instead of white simply because it looks cool. As long as you're on LRX210 this should work for you. Just move the SystemUI.apk to system/priv-app and set permissions to rw-r-r and reboot. See below to for screenshots and the apk for download.

It asks me to Enable Root Mode when I try to change the permissions. Do you have any idea why is asking that? And I believe the SystemUI.apk should be put to system/priv-app/SystemUI folder?
Can you please make the carrier text in pink. It will also looks good. For someone, somewhere...

Hey buddy, it worked. I forgot earlier to check a box in settings of my file manager to give root privileges. Is there a chance to show the battery % while the device is NOT in the lock screen only? And also is there a chance to make a white carrier font like it used to be?
This looks really cool, what xml file do you modify to get this, can you tell me how to do this cause I want to start modifying android when I have time

As of right now I cannot figure out how to get the percentage to show when the screen is unlocked....if the SystemUI was not odexed it wouldn't be an issue. I'm not really a developer, I just dabble around in XML's and have read a lot on themeing android system files. Getting the percentage to show while the screen is unlocked is still a project I'm working on. If I get it to work trust me I will be sure to post it!
I believe the XML was keygaurd_status_bar.XML
All I did was change the hex color code for the carrier text from white (FFFFFFFF) to green (FF00FF00). Then in the textview parameter for battery percentage I changed the line android:visibility="gone" to android:visibility="visible "
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda premium
Also I've noticed with this mod if you stick the phone on the charger and take it off the battery percentage in the lock screen disappears....once you reboot its back again. Have no idea how to fix that...

Sent from my Nexus 5 using XDA Free mobile app
Hello, could you please change the carrier text back into regular white? I would love to use it in that standard design!
Could somebody help me to clarify, after I downloaded the SystemUI.apk it is an .zip but how shall I put the downloaded file into the system/priv-app? As far as I understand this should be an .apk?
It Is an apk file. Use 7-zip or similar software to unzip it..

XML is located in res/layout. You have to decompile the apk to get to it.
