[Q] ROM Toolbox - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If I uninstall ROM Toolbox, will the settings I changed revert to their defaults?

In many cases, yes.
But why would you?

if you hit the menu key it will have an option to restore your previous settings. only if you saved them when it prompted you before you changed

[Q] Newbie Question - Backing up Apps & Settings

So, newbie question...
I have been playing around more and more with different ROM's, with the occasional soft brick that requires me to Odin flash back to a stock DL09 ROM.
What kills me is when I need to reload apps + settings. How do I backup / restore apps + app settings + OS settings when I'm switching ROM's? I do not need to do a full backup of the ROM itself... just my apps + app settings + OS settings.
Thanks.
Check out Titanium Backup.

[Q] I can't open my ADW.Launcher. What now?

I rooted my nook, tried to change the screensaver and turn off images but it messed up with my ADW.Launcher settings. Unfortunately I didn't made a backup file from framework.jar.
Now I'm stuck with the B&N Home and I can't launch the ADW, nor the Button Savior nor nothing outside the stock B&N app.
I've tried to restore everything with n2T-Recovery (the both methods) but didn't work. At all!...
I'm needing some help here
I think if you used n2t you need to reroot since that triggers the 8 failed boots which causes a rewrite of the system date.
I rerooted, but that didn't seemed to help...

Did you expect triggering Factory Restore would help you fix your broken root?
Trigger Factory Reset by going to Settings -> Device Info -> Erase and Deregister
This will clear all your settings, including broken ones, then reroot your NST.

thank you very much! that solved the problem
or if you have a backup file you can format the nook and write the backup img, your nook will be new as fresh

Can not restore from TB

So i changed my ROM from EchoeKK to ProBam KK v1.2 and when i go to restore my Apps with data it just sits on "restoring - 0% 0/77" for as long as i leave it.
Never had this issue before, do i just need to change the restoration location? if so i can not find where the option is :/
Also i did a FULL wipe before flashing ProBam, and i have ROOT.

Touchwiz stopped working after changing DPI at Pimp my Rom

Hey. I have a Galaxy S4 I 9505 LTE. I have Pimp my Rom and it's rooted. Unfortunately i have changed the DPI (the size). Okay, it was small. Then i tried to set it back. I tried other options of DPI. After the reboot, there was no homescreen or anything else. Everytime i click "ok" on "Touchwiz stopped working", it appears again. i can hold the power button to set internet off and on, reboot, activate flightmode. But that's it.
i want to reset the screen, but im not sure if it's possible and if it is, how. Otherwise I would like to save all my files and reset my phone.
Any ideas?
Reflash the rom you are on without wiping. Maybe only wipe cache and dalvik.

I don't think reflashing the ROM is going to work as it'll preserve the existing system settings.
Maybe get into the system directory through recovery and delete the init.d file, then reflash the ROM. If the DPI change is being controlled through init.d then that might zero it out.
As for saving the files, make a Nandroid backup of the broken rom the way it is now. Then if you screw it up any further you can always go back to where you are now to try different fixes.
Also, once you have your apps and data saved in a Nandroid you can get them back later if you have to flash an all new ROM

Under Settings / Backup and Restore there is a toggle to restore backed up settings and data when reinstalling an app. Maybe this is causing your issue and you need to toggle that off before installing Magisk.

I think it has something to do with that or /data/stock_boot_RANDOMNUMBERS.img.gz.
