[Q] Using the mic of a Denon headset - Omnia 7 General

Hi,
I own and love an Omnia 7 for over a year now, with practically no problems. Except...
Someone gave me some months ago a Denon set of earphones, those that have in-built mic and commands and are announced as "made for (blargh) iPhone". The phones have great sound and the command sort of works (it skeeps and repears tracks, only the volume buttons don't work, but that's ok by me).
Unfortunately, though, the microphone doesn't work at all. And that is very annoying because it seems that there is always someone calling you while you're lustening to music...
Does anoyone know of a tweak that enables that specific kind of mic?
Any ideas would be very appreciated.
Thanks and regards,
Ricardo

Got exactly the same problem...thought they were faulty but plugged into my iPod Touch and they worked perfectly.

It should be quite simple with the right tools and some soldering skills.
Every head set need to cram a lot of controls through the only 3 rings on the jack.
The commands are recognized by the drivers installed inside the phone. Commands are coded through the simplest way: direct shorting ( bus reads time ) and resistors shorting.
So: (if you're skillful enough, DIY, if not read and document yourself on the web and take the sets to a phone repair center)
1. Dismantle an official Omnia7 headset. Observe the resistors and shorts inside. Very simple.
1. Replace/reroute the circuits inside the Denon.

Help Needed - Homebrew O'Neill hub type snowboard jacket

Hi guys,
My 1st post on this forum so please bare with me.
I'm doing a bit of a homebrew project at the mo, basically I trying to recreate the O'Neill Hub snowboard jacket with a slightly cheaper and more flair snowboard jacket.
I've canabalised the wired handsfree kit that came with my T-mobile MDA and wired the mic into the collar of my jacket. I've also removed the headphones and attached a 3.5mm socket to the wires. I then routed this up to the back of the collar and am using it with a pair of Sony MDR-EX71 headphones (which have an extremely short fly-lead).
Next step is to create a flexible membrane button on the arm to activate Microsoft Voice Command - at the mo I can only do it by reaching into my pocket to press a hardware button. Components for the button on the arm should be easy (quick visit to RS components) but I'm struggling to find a way of remotely activating the Phnoe.
I guess I could do it using a Bluetooth Heaset and the Remote Bluetooth activation project in this forum - but having bluetooth on permanently will murder my battery life. Ideally I would use the button on the wired headset to simulate a hardware button which I could then remap using VITO button mapper to give me several functions depending on the length of press. I'd then wire this into my homemade arm button on the jacket.
Looks like there are a couple of threads asking for help with this but so far none seems to have come up with a solution. There was an interesting post mentioning PHONESTATE_HEADSETHOOKSWITCH which forms part of the TAPI command set, but I'm afraid I have only limited C++ and VB experience (and none with Windows CE).
Any chance one of the smarter members of the forum could take a look at this and give me a bit of help? It would be much appreciated.
Cheers.
Intersting that you want to build your own O'Neill Hub jacket, I worked on the intergration of the electronics and the keypad controls into the jacket. so if you want info I might be able to help.

Qtek 2020 headphone connector broken :(

Hello all,
My Qtek 2020 (Himalaya PH10B) fell on the floor with the headphones on, and the mini-jack for connector for the headphones broke inside it.
I successfully opened it, and I was able to see the damages. I can see only 6 pins that connected the mini-jack plug to the main board, and it seems that there could be a seventh that got broken...
Would anyone of you know of a closeup picture of this headset plug/connector ? Do you know if it is possible to find a new one ? If not, mine looks reparable still, but I would feel reassured if I knew the exact connection here
Thank you in advance for your help.
Cheers

Thank you for your answer Rudegar,
I re-soldered the connector, and I realized that a pin was indeed missing. I actually found it freely moving inside the PDA, but I could not solder it back to the connector. The results ? Well, it still does not work, unfortunately... With the headset on, it is mainly okay (there is still a little contact problem) but *withou* the headset, it still has no sound...
So :
1) Can I find this connector somewhere ?
2) Is there a way to tell the PDA not to check for the headset, and use the main speaker all the time ?
3) Would it change anything if I bought a blutooth headset ?
Thank you in advance !
Cheers

1.) i doubt it would be a cheap option if htc had a special connector made just for their phones so i'd asume they use some sort of std component
and maybe there even is a partNr og serial on the connector
which could be used to find a replacement in R&S catalog
http://www.rs-components.com/index.html
2.) no pretty sure the switch between headset and internal speaker is don in hardware and software cant control it
3.) no with bluetooth headset you just dont use the audio connector which mean it would be empty and you'd have no sound on the pda
but it would prob solve poor contact issue of your current headset
Thank you Rudegar !
I am going to re-open it and check if I can find any serial # on the component. It looks like it is my best option. Obviously, if I find something, I will post it on that forum, so that other people can know...
Thanks again !

connection - non bluetooth question/search for leads

bear with me on this one while I try to explain...
I have an o2 XDA Exec that has tomtom 6 on it
I want to use the phone/sat nav, while on my bike
I have got a Starcom Advance - http://www.starcom1.com/ that is all working on the bike
Now, I do not want to use bluetooth if I can avoid it....
The starcom has a seperate connector for the phone and for satnav. (Both 3.5mm jacks)
I think that if I can find a 3.5 mm double male lead then I am hoping I can just plug it into the xda and the starcom - but what lead do I need? (Needs to allow the microphone to work btw)
I am hoping that some kind person knows what lead is needed so I can source one from maplins etc.... or that it just will not work!
I have the same problem! I use the Intraride system, but it's exactly the same set-up as the StarCom (used to have one) The solution I found was something like the Ericsson bluetooth handsfrees. They come with a detachable earpiece, so you can connect the units to the intercom using the phonelead that should have been supplied in the intercoms box.
First option is the HBH-20, there is one on ebay now for next to nothing.
HBH-20 Ebay Clicky
I then tried the HBH-200, which is similar, but includes a CallerID function. Nothing on ebay, but here is a link so you can see what I mean:
Clicky
Both devices are the size of a box of matches, so no troubles there! What I did find is that both units can be querky with the bluetooth connection, (down to the phone not the handsfree and this was on the OE o2 ROM, and one of the cooked WM6 versions) and also the volume was a bit quiet. Solution I've gone with now, is to swap my SIM into a normal phone (Nokia 6310i and universal adapter) and just plug that in. I also had good results with the Motorola V50 which has a 2.5mm connection that will just plug straight in.
Hope you find something that works for you! Although if anyone knows of an adapter to allow normal 2.5mm handsfrees to be connected to the 3.5mm socket on the universal...I'd love to know too! I have already looked at the adapters from Expansys, but these only allow PC type headsets to be connected (ie those with a separate 3.5mm headset and earphone lead)

internal mic/speaker stopped working

Hi,
on my htc wizard the internal speaker (for phone) and microphone stopped working. if i connect the headset it works, i can use the phone with it and talk to people. if i disconnect the headset, i cannot hear anything and the communication partner does not hear me. might this be a software issue or is a hardware problem more likely?
i think it might be the jack for the headset, since the display still works and all connections are established using one cable between the parts of the phone. And it is rather unlikely that the speaker and the microphone break at the same time. am i correct in assuming the same logic/amplifier circuit is used for the headset jack and the internel microphone/speakers?
disregard that, after penetrating the headset jack with a needle it works again...
Wizard
Ok, now I have been reading and reading on how to flash the HTC Wizard aka 8125's and I got everything but what I really don't know is...does the sims card need to be in the phone and am I looking to write a unlock code down when and if I see one. I have tried to flash my phone three times and I still can not do it. Even though I am reading the ever detailed and fully understandable directions, I am missing something. Can someone tell what it is?
I just got the Cect P168+ iphone clone (I do not like it) and I really really want to stay with my smartphone and I really want the rom flashed and upgraded, please help me. Someone may even eme to my personal email ([email protected]) if this needs to be done away from this site.
Thanks so much.

3-Button headset control 3,5mm via USB-C (where are impedance parameters stored?)

Hi all!
Since using PH1 with O8.1, my 3 Button headset (AKG N20) won't work. Vol+ always triggers the voice command - very annoying. Other buttons and sound is fine.
Essential support was very nice an helful, unfortunately without solution.
I researched and understood the system of the 3-buttons and impedance, as described here:
https://source.android.com/devices/accessories/headset/plug-headset-spec
As the headset works flawless on other O8.1 phones with an integrated 3,5mmm jack (tested on sony and samsung), I think this is might be a driver issue with the usb-c dongle.
I would like to test a bit around (phone is rooted), however didn't find a way to start.
I wonder if anyone could be so kind to answer the following two questions I was not able to find out on my own:
1 Where in the system are these impedance values stored in general and for the dongle? A editable file, in the kernel or on the hardware?
2 Where can I find the driver for the usb-c dongle (it was installed on first plug in, so I would guess it is somehow separated from the system)?
Thank you very much!
M
