Best battery saver app - Kindle Fire General

I've got Juice Defender and have the settings on balanced. Is it compatible with the kindle fire and does it work that well at all, if so what settings? Is there a better battery saver? Thanks.

I haven't found it necessary to have a battery saver.

I just get all these apps that open randomly. I looked for task killers but i can just go to settings or my apps screen and kill them. Idk, I guess I thought that juice defender, might force close apps like that for me so they dont drain my battery.

Android is designed to manage that on it's own.

Since the Kindle Fire is WiFi only, there isn't very much for Juice Defender to manage. Usually it tries to save battery by turning off Data when the phone is sleeping, etc. but none of that applies to the KF.
You'll probably save more battery by not having Juice Defender running in the background. My suggestion, if you need more juice, is to try underclocking or undervolting, custom kernel etc.

Why do I see "phone and cell " draining my battery 19 % . I running CM7 btw.. How do I turn that off..?

Well... phone/cell would be the device itself. You turn it off by using the power button...
There are tools which will give you a better idea of what is actually going on though like System Monitor.

I use Jd on my phone, but like already stated I don't think it would add much value on the fire because the device is wifi only.

It sure did for me, at least on CM7! Try it, plus enable the tablet mode and it insures no radio activity.

You can remove alot from CM7, including the phone, mms, etc... apk's. I remove ~30 apk's or so. Here are the commands I run via adb everytime I install a new build. Be sure to remove what "you" want to keep.
Code:
adb remount
adb shell
cd /system/app/
rm VoiceDialer.apk Androidian.apk AndroidTerm.apk Bluetooth.apk Browser.apk Camera.apk CarHomeGoogle.apk CMStats.apk CMUpdateNotify.apk CMWallpapers.apk Contacts.apk DeskClock.apk Development.apk DSPManager.apk Email.apk FileManager.apk Gallery3D.apk GenieWidget.apk LiveWallpapers.apk MagicSmokeWallpapers.apk Mms.apk Music.apk Pacman.apk Phone.apk Protips.apk RomManager.apk SoundRecorder.apk Talk.apk TelephonyProvider.apk VisualizationWallpapers.apk

My MAJOR improvement in battery life and how I did it so simply

Settings > Locations and Security > Uncheck everything in the first portion.
I happened to find my 'Use wireless networks' turned on one day, and after turning it off, my battery life improved (on the next charge) from (based on screen-on time, seen by checking Display in Battery Usage) 2 - 2.5 hours to 4.5 - 5 hours. That's double!
A battery recalibration is recommended after doing that.
It worked for me but it might not for you, so I don't guarantee any results. This is just my experience and the advice I'd like to give.
If it worked for you, enjoy!

It is always the same with this smartphone things. Mostly everytime you switch off some battery draining stuff, you loose comfort. I often want my phone to know where I am, because of wheather widget, bus/tram widget and so on.
This is good for someone who doesn't use these things.
yeah i always have this enabled because i want weather updates every 2 hours or so and sometimes use it ti check in to places, it doesn't use up that much battery compared to some other things.
Thats true. I didn't notice any difference because I don't use those things.

Disabling 'Background data' in 'accounts and sync' does a lot too .. I mean in the case you don't use it, and you have both wifi and mobile network off, so nothing can't connect anyway.

You can turn off:
Wi-Fi
Data
Bluetooth
GPS
Auto Sync
3G
Might as well have one of these

amazing battery life

Just few quick tips that will help you get amazing results:
1. get the app called Autostarts from the market
2. in the app kill after reboot google maps, talk and social hub(you can find it on scond line in the application from the possible options.
3. Get Titanium
freeze wifi sharing manager and wifi manager.
You are done
Enjoy!
Have you tried dl'ing anything from the market after doing this? Because in the help section it says you might not be able to dl anything from it if you disable Google Talk.
Why not just log out from Google Talk instead?

O-o-ps!
I just realized that I've madeb a mistake:
I was meaning google voice but not google talk.
SORRY!
Elaborate on point 3 please.
What is wifi sharing manager and wifi manager?

I think the point is to have it done automatically every time.
Exactly! You can stop them manually but they will reappear again. With the program mentioned above you can do it for good - google maps, google voice will not longer drain the battery without need. Tiatanium will take care for wifi sharing manager and wifi manager - yet another big, big battery drainer that won't affect the phone in any way
Thanks for the tip. I got the program autostarts but I am not able to manually disable google map and voice. I just see several lines of google services framework. Is this it?

Time to do some testing. I already had autostarts on another recommendation, but was lost on what to do with it.
I have found that using a very (very) minimal homescreen on a black background, using a dark profile for all apps that have the option, and turning wifi off when not needed, I can get at least 2 and a half days out of one charge with light use.
Going to see if this impacts my numbers any. Thanks!

The trick of my recommendation is that the phone is folling in deep sleep when not in use and by that way you can almost double the battery life, of course if not in constant use. To be sure that you are doing alright go get frkm tne market Battery monitor widget, install the widget and if you are running at about 50mA in sleep mode you are just fine.

I'm downloading the pre rooted ROM now, and I will try to uninstall the useless apps to create as "vanilla" a version of Android as possible. Will report back as to how it goes!
i tried to put greenify and use it to block system bloats....and i notice something it uses more battery usage...maybe if your rooted is therea difference ? im not rooted for now...the orientations of greenify is like the same orientation of zenfone stocks settings under settings ...apps..disable apps...so by using more apps like greenify it uses more rams thus create more battery usage...thats what i experience...dont know about you guys though...and lastly do you experience great more battery life with greenify on rooted ? tnx
Okay so I have a rooted phone and I have uninstalled many default system and Asus apps and now am left with a pretty clean android, except for the zenui which I can't remove.
The attached screenshots show the apps that are running after a fresh restart. As you can see I have a 2gb model and a healthy amount of ram left for apps.

I am rooted and uninstalled a lot of the stock apps but there's no significant change in battery life I must say.
based on the pictures above i must say it does not really help alot..compared to mine non rooted....o.s lolipop 5 is the real culprit here i think...well im back no no greenify and use the systems built in apps disable tru setting....notice less battery usage now...well have to do is wait then for new updates thanks again.
I uninstall/greenify anyways because it bothers me to have apps I don't use running in the background and eating ram and battery, even if the end result of removing them isn't necessarily positive.

Better battery stats....... Is that a 3rd party app?
Could be that that battery app is miss reading something and giving you false information based on your other screen shots.
@shwnr11
That could be it. Better Battery Stats is a well known XDA application made by a member here named chamonix.
It is free for us XDA members but it is also a Paid application on the PlayStore.
I'll read up on his thread to see if he can point me into the right direction.
I wanted to come on here first to see if anyone else with a V20 is using this application and having the same problem.
I recently rooted my phone and at first I did not use a Custom Rom like (Overdrive, Etc.) and I ran into the same problem where the stats are showing Wi-Fi constantly running. I thought I may have deleted or frozen something using TitaniumBackup and I just could not figure it out at all and decided to go ahead and try the Overdrive Custom Rom to see if was something I did.
And of course after setting up my phone BetterBatteryStats is showing Wi-Fi is constanly running again...even on a clean install of a Custom Rom. It is not "On" because that is labeled as something else within the stats and it does not seem to be draining battery even though it shows "100%" battery usage. I am still achieving at the end of the day "1.0%" drain every hour.
But I appreciate you commenting and not just "Viewing" like the other 100 or less viewers have.
I still have no idea what would cause this type of battery usage with the Wi-Fi.
I decided to go ahead and do a fresh clean install of OverDrive's Custom Rom. I have not loaded any of my apps from Titanium Backup but Better Battery Stats.
After 2 hours now BBStats does not show this type of battery usage anymore.
So I am even more puzzled now. It may be that I deleted an app or apk or frozen something that requires Wi-Fi to behave properly.
Is there a list of aps or apks that we can safely remove or freeze?

Check in developer options and make sure allow WiFi room scans is turned off, when on it sends your location data to Google even when you turn WiFi off.
wifi
Common sense isn't all that common
@ZDeuce2
That was the first place I thought to look because I remember that being an issue with the Nexus 6 but unfortunately it was already disabled.
But I believe it may have been something I deleted or froze because I went ahead restored all of my apps one by one that I had prior just to see if it was an app of mine and I did not delete or freeze or anything this time around and Wi-Fi is not showing any usage at all with the BBStats app.
Yea I am puzzled but I am a happy camper now. BBStats is showing a solid "0.2%" battery usage every hour! Getting awesome battery life now.
Thank you though good sir for the comment.

Google Maps 6 gets killed running in background

Hi guys, is anyone here still using Google maps v6?
It is still working fine, except that on this phone (s10+ Exynos) the app gets killed when running in the background.
At first i believed it to be because i had added the app to the sleep list. I had done that because the system keeps saying the app is eating up battery, even when not running.
So I removed the app from the sleep list, but it keeps getting killed.
How can i make sure that an app never gets killed when running in the background?
Try this go into settings and search optimize battery usage, and then press optimize battery usage listed. You have the options to see what is not optimize battery usage or all click all on top left and see If maps is toggled on. If so toggle off.

I have those settings now, and removed the app from the sleeping apps (again). I'm afraid the system will put it back on the 'sleep' list again because it uses a lot of battery in the background (I get regular warnings about that).
Anyone have an idea why this app would be so active while not even used?

It's v6 of Google Maps. It had a much simpler interface, and easier to use when looking for alternative routes.
And it doesn't have all that commercial baggage of the new version, which is way slower too btw.
The only thing is, why does it use battery when not even started....
