Has anyone been able to get Tasker working on the Kindle Fire? I would like to set my Fire up to tether to my phone at a predetermined time at work. This will allow me to sync to company email, since I am not able to connect to company wireless.
Is there possibly another type of programmed that will do this?
Regards,
Jay

I have set up TightVNC on my A500 and it works well as a remote desktop, but only if my A500 and my laptop are on the same network. When I'm on the road and try to connect to my laptop at home via the hotel wifi, free public wifi, or my cell phone, it will not connect. Does anyone know what could be causing this? My cell phone has no problem connecting from anywhere in the world via 3g or wifi using iTeleport. Unfortunately they don't make iTeleport for Android though. My reason for doing this is because I travel for a living and I would rather not have to tote my laptop all over tthe place when I have a tablet. I like to leave my laptop at home connected to wifi while iim on the road. My main need for the connection is to access my airline's employee program for flight info. It is Java based and will not run on a cell phone or tablet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
must open port 5800 if my memory.
sorry for my English
Thank you so much. I'll give that a shot.

I use RealVNC and it works great but I did have to set up port forwarding on my router to get it to work outside of my home network.
I will have to figure out out to check my router for port forwarding when I get back home. The only reason I didnt go with LogMeIn was the price was kind of steep. I'll check RealVNC out when I get a chance. Thanks guys.
heard of teamviewer? thats quite good and i was surprised it was ported onto the android..... best of all its free.
Thank you so much Ben! Team viewer works great and its exactly what I was looking for. The funny thing is my laptop is at home in Chicago while I'm sitting in a hotel room in Frankfort Germany. I was able to access my laptop via my cellphone using iTeleport in order to set up Teambiewer on my laptop lol. Now I can access my laptop via my Iconia. You gotta love technology!
I like this teamviewer thing, but I have a question. Is there any way to get the sound to go from one computer to the Iconia? I was able to access my desktop with the Iconia and open a video file and play it but I was unable to hear the sound from it. Is there any way to do that?
Hey guys I can't seem to find an answer to what I am trying to accomplish.
Firstly I have an android phone (Nexus 6 rooted) that I use with an app called VPN hotspot. This lets me connect all my devices to the rooted phone while using a vpn to bypass geo restrictions. This is great for the most part but alot of buffering happens (not always but still annoying)
I pay for my own DNS service (unlocator) and I use that to bypass geo restrictions via phone. Unfortunately you cannot do that with the Chromecast because Google hardcore's the DNS into the firmware. That means when I try to use a UK app while abroad the Chromecast checks it's location and the casting wont work. Blocking routing addresses (8.8.8.8 & 8.8.4.4) allows me to achieve what I want. Unfortunately I can't find an app or anything that would allow me to do that on my rooted phone.
I used to have a router (was stolen) that could block Google's DNS adding static routing addresses to it. I wanted to know can an app do that via phone before I go out and purchase a new router.
My ideal situation would be to use my rooted phone as a little wireless router, have an app block those addresses/DNS, run VPN hotspot app from here, connect my Chromecast and daily driver phone to the rooted phone and be able to cast like I did with the router. If anyone has any ideas or apps that work for this type of setup can you please let me know. I know I can go out and buy a new router but I see the potential in using my old phone as a router and thought maybe it is possible.
Thank you guys.
Got help via Reddit. It can be done.
Hi,
I bought Essential Phone for my parents a while ago. They are not that tech savvy, so I've been helping them with setting/apps here and there through video calls, but it's really difficult in some cases. I was trying to use Teamviewer to remote control their phones, but I can't seem to make that work. I've tried their universal add-on app, but that didn't work either. I'm curious if anyone managed to do this or knows about a different solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,

I have not done this but I infer that using your parents' router to mac-address assign their phone a static IP address, and port forwarding, you should be able to connect remotely. However, I suspect that there will be some lag based on connection and device speeds.

My SM-T500 won't let me connect to my smartphone with bluetooth tethering if Wifi is on.
I have a Wifi device with no internet that I need to connect my tablet to.
To have internet on the tablet I need to establish a connection via bluetooth with my smartphone but the tablet says "To use Bluetooth tethering, turn off Wi-Fi on this device."
Does anyone know how to overcome this limitation that Samsung has imposed.
I can't understand why Samsung creates these restrictions.
seems to me you having problems with your imei, and maybe also corrupt your imei this could probitly come from the flashing process...i have this problem by myself if i find some solution i will let you know and you please too if you find a solution

Why not connect both your tablet and the other device to the smartphones wifi hotspot?

Thanks for replying.
I will try to elaborate better.
On my boat I have a wireless fishfinder that communicates with an android device through a hotspot that the fishfinder itself creates. This hotspot does not have internet because it only serves to send the data to the android device. In my case the SM-T500.
On the SM-T500 I also use some marine navigation apps that work offline but with less functions than if they were connected to the internet. Without internet I don't have some real-time data.
Of course I could use the smartphone instead of the SM-T500 but it's much harder to read a nautical chart on a 6" device than on a 10" tablet. Even worse if the sea is rough.
I just can't understand why Samsung blocks such simple functions unnecessarily.
I guess it's live and learn and run away from Samsung when buying another device.

Samsung doesn't block it, Android does. It's just a function of how it works. It doesn't support two wireless connections at once. Blame the fishfinder for choosing such a weird way to connect. You could always switch back and forth between the two hotspots.
If I were you, I'd just buy a cheap tablet like a used Amazon Fire HD to connect to the fishfinder. It doesn't take a fancy device to perform that simple task.

You are right. I just chose this fishfinder because I have two small boats and it allows me to switch between them and not have to walk around with lots of wires behind.
I blamed Samsung because my Xiaomi smartphone doesn't have this function blocked and is on the same android version as the SM-T500.
I don't know about the Amazon tablet. I currently use several marine navigation aid applications on my SM-T500 and sometimes I notice that it can barely get the job done. And the SM-T500 was one of the cheapest tablets I've found with GPS.
Either way, I'm already resigned. I do exactly as you said and I switch between the fishfinder hotspot and the one on my smartphone to get internet.
It's not perfect but it does the trick.
