Well I rooted and installed CM7 on my fire yesterday.
Today I downloaded a .apk on my laptop and wanted to transfer it to my fire via the USB. I connected the USB and the USB mass storage pops up but when I press the button "Turn on USB storage" nothing happens.
Help would be awesome. Maybe some type of workaround?
Thanks in advanced
Edit: Well I kinda figured a work around. I Booted into TWRP to flash back to the original rom but I seen the mount option there and vio-la.

After rooting my phone it no longer gives me the option of "connecting to PC." Whenever I select settings, connect to PC, the app crashes. Does not make a difference whether I am in USB debugging or not.
I need to reformat my SD card, and unable to do so. I use to have the option of selecting the charge/ disk drive, etc. mode in the pull down menu. It is no longer there.
Any ideas on how to fix this so I can connect to my mac or PC?
Thanks,
Todd
Try wiping and see if it works. i had something similar happen to me but it was because i messed up the root process and didnt let the phone communicate anymore. google : how to root HTC evo 2.2 xda. there should be an enr3voked thread on here by Djr3z. it works flawlessly. of course you could just be missing the android bootloader drivers.
good luck
I have the same issue. But if I reboot the EVO and connect it to a PC, the connection option pops up again. If I disconnect and reconnect, nada. Basically, I have to reboot after each connection to get the option to pop up. Using the latest stock Fresh ROM.
Hi
Yesterday I S-Offed my Wildfire and instelled CM7 rom.
But today I wanted to transfer some music to my phone and i couldn't do it.
When i plug USB cable into PC, my phone just charges and can't do anything more because phone doesn't show that it is plugged by USB. Just USB debugging turns on but I can't transfer anything to my phone.
Yesterday it was all OK but I flashed google apps and Jacob's kernel(v4.2). Maybe that is a problem.
I'm waiting for advice
I have a similar problem.
The phone also shows connect via usb option.
But on doing that, the phone does not show up on my pc.
When I go to "Disk Management" in computer management on windows 7, the disk shows up but I can't assign a drive letter to it and hence it is not accesible.
Can any1 help with the problem ?
Forgot to mention.
The problem does not appear when I connect my wildfire to my mac.
It shows up as as a disk drive when mounted.
I had a similar problem after installing CM7 so I got Multi Mount Sd-Card Lite from the market, put the widget on homescreen and click it each time i mounted my usb.
Hope it solves your problem!

Don't flash Jacob's Kernel v4.2. Keep the stock one.
Thanks for advices
I re-installed CM7 and kept kernel which comes with rom.
Now I have NO problem with that.
So it was kernel problem.
Hey guys, I am having a bit of issues trying to get the Internal Storage to connect properly to my computer. I rooted and flashed RA Recovery yesterday and flashed Protekk's AOKP ROM, but now I'm not able to plug my tablet into my computer.
I thought it wouldn't work without USB drivers, so I tried to install them, but all it's giving is three quick beeps (the beep you hear when a USB device is connected).
I looked in the thread, but nobody mentioned a big issue like that, so I think there may be something that I am doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
I'd also like to add that when I plug it into the computer, the USB Debugging icon appears on the tablet, so it's still getting somewhat recognized.

Hi guys,
After upgrading to ICS I've been unable to connect my pad to the PC. This is usually not a problem, but last night I needed adb to re-root it. Nothing worked, nothing connected. Tried installing drivers and the Asus sync, but no luck.
Is this a known problem? Anyone got a solution? I doubt it's the hardware as I connected a few days before upgrading...
Found a solution. Went into Settings->Storage and turned MTP off and back on.

THANK YOU! Everytime I plug in my ET4G to the dock to charge it that stupid MTP crap always comes up. Had no idea I could disable it. Thanks!
yeah, this doesn't always help... I had the same problem when i first got my TF101, and i tried all the tricks, the one mentioned here with mtp, enabling and desabling debug mode, turning off and on with usb plugged in, and some others i can't remember... nothing.
In case anyone else is looking for the answer and the quick tips don't work, what did it for me was installing Android Revolution HD rom. I've read that this problem could also be bootloader related.
Anyways, cheers.
How to connect an ICS device to your computer
Step 1. Connect device to computer via USB
Step 2. Set USB connection as Media Device (MTP) (p.s. if you use a Mac you need to download Android File Transfer)
Step 3. Disable USB debugging if enabled
I hope this helped.
when you need turn off MTP it mean your computer doesn't have driver.
If you need using MTP go to asus page and download driver. it's easy to install driver ^^...
recently I can't understand why same file but the computer at my office can't install that file instead other computers working normal... maybe my work place using old windows version...
Like I wrote earlier - mine was actually in MTP mode, but I had to switch to camera mode and back to MTP for it to start working. Thanks for the replies, though. Hopefully it will help some other people with the same problems

Could it be related to this issue:

If you have plugged your Nexus 7 on a car charger, the usb might be dead and only be used for charging (and so unable to transfer new ROM data).
charging is fine...is it possible that I did not enable usb debugging before i wiped to factory reset that it would prevent me from connecting???
alright heres alil update i tried using WUGS toolkit and trying to unroot everything was going fine until it cannot find the flashstock.bat...now im back to square one. i cant find the flashstock.bat anywhere
I was having the same problem. It would see the camera mode, but not the mtp. I read in another thread to turn off debugging in settings. What do you know. It worked! Computer sees the tablet now just fine.:victory:
