[Q] Some general advice/help needed - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hey guys,
New to these forums so a big hello from me!
I just have a few questions I would like to ask. I got myself an EU HD2 that had MIUI installed - I didnt like this so flashed it back to windows 6.5
I would like to install the Energy rom with HTC Sense so here are my questions..
When it says "EU needs CWR 5/210/5 is the minimum requirement with a 1GB ext2/3/4 partition on sdcard." What does this mean and how do I do it? I mean like what tools do I use? I did this through Clockwork Mod for the 1GB thingy but I have a feeling I am doing it wrong. What steps am I missing?
I manage to install it but it just gets stuck at the bootscreen, this is the same for any rom I install so I am guessing I am doing something wrong which I believe is the 2/210/5 bit. I have no idea what this is - would someone be kind enough to explain it to me and teach me what to do?
I have looked about the forums for a solution but I cant seem to find any guide that details how to do that 2/210/5 part.
Any help would be appreciated!

5 Meg boot partition ( default, you can ignore this)
210 system partition
5meg cache partition. You set these during flashing of cwm,,, use the "nand toolkit", select 210 on the left, put 5 in the cache box, and click repartition.
Yes use cwm to set the SD ext 1gb.

I've written a guide, its about how to install cLk but thhe first few paragraphs are about the layouts like you just mentioned. It may help you some.
Here is the link.

Did you qlso install clockworkmod with the correct partition size? If your partition is to small for the rom image boot loops are caused.
Sent from my HTC HD2
Assuming you have the right partition size go to clockwork cleardata/factoryreset then clear cache the go to advanced and clear dalvic rhen reboot

you have partitioned your sd,not nand. i think your rom needs 5-150-5 nand partition. unrar attached file.connect phone to pc.in mgldr go to usb flasher- see usb flasher.....usb-right click on daf-run as administrator-after it finishes flash your rom using mgldr-ad recovery-install zip from sd-choose zip from sd-choose your rom.zip.after it finishes reboot.
(save this recovery folder in pc.when you need a different size of nand partition open flash.cfg with notepad and arrange it according to your needs.)

it s normal that nand boot fails, because you didnt flash your rom.zip from sd yet. nand partitioning arranges your phone's internal memory according to the need s of roms. if you use a rom with same nand partition size (e.g. miui roms or cm7 roms but not sense roms) you will not apply partition again, just wipe data/factory reset in ad recovery menu and flash the rom.

How about a fresh install?
That guy had bootloops, maybe the same error? anyway, Follow this post by me ,, it is a full & complete step by step on how to install the ROM you wanted (HyperGBX).
Most importantly, Swap Step 8 with your MAGLDR ROM from pongster's thread (HyperGBX)

NAND Partition 250MB - SD-EXT4 2GB what do these mean, an do i need em?
Where did you find these information? where did you find NAND partition 250 .... etc ?
Maybe you have bad blocks (which I hope not, because data cannot be written on them, resulting in some missing system files, thus giving you bootloops).

[Q] HTC BLISS - WWE SENSE 3.5 FOR HD2 [v1.1]

Hello everybody
I have to post here because I can't in NAND development...
This is a general question, but I post the title of the Bliss sense 3.5 rom because I actually have this...
This is a great rom , but I have 2 problems with my EU 512mb HD2...
The first, and very important, is the room left... Looking with Apps2sdgui those are my general info:
internal memory free(total): 25mb(206mb)
sd-ext free(total): 1392mb(1830mb)
cache free(total): 25mb(206mb)
So, what can I exactly delete using root explorer? Can you explain me please what exactly apps2sdgui does? I haven't understood its function, because my internal memory is full though Apps2sdgui says "apps are on SD"...
The second is the available ram... I have max 60/70mb free, according to Apps2sdgui... Sometimes, when switch from an app to another, I see the white screen with the htc green word in the middle for a 10-15 seconds... What can I do to make my phone faster and more fluid?
You do not have to delete anything using root explorer, and your apps seems to be in your SD card's EXT partition. Your cache seems poetry high though- not much you can do without backing up, repartitioning and restoring.
The free memory seems ok, though not great. Sense 3.5 builds are still being developed and are not stable yet. The HTC logo that flashes by is your Android rebooting.
If you prefer stability, choose an AOSP or CM7 build...
Swyped from my HTC HD2 running CM7 (Gingerbread 2.3.5)

Stuck on Quitely briliant screen
Hi
I have tried flashing this rom through CLW and everything goes well until the device reboots. it gets stuck on the Quietly brilliant screen. I left it run for 30 minutes with no luck of actually booting the system.
I have noticed when i pull my battery out and mount the device nothing is created on the SD card (no folders or files).
I have a 3 GB SD card and I have partitioned it through AD recovery with 2GB and 0 swap EXT partition.
I flashed MYUI again since i was using it before but i would really like to try your Sense Rom on my HD2 (T-Mobile).
Am I missing something? I have to say that I also tried using other Sense Roms and got the same problem. stuck on the HTC green screen or the Quietly brilliant screen and my system never loads!
Thanks for you help and keep up the good work.
My HD2 is the european version...
But perhaps I can help you... Have you partitioned your cwr?

Hey,
Thanks for the reply. I am not really sure I have done CWR partition. All I have done is SD partition to 2GB and 0 swap since I have always used MIUI Roms on my HD2 and before I had WM7 and stock Roms.
If CWR partition is needed for this rom how do u do that?
Thanks

Because this ROM very big so it need use many NAND space and SD-EXT Partition to store sytem and app.
App was moved to EXT partition but Dalvik cache still on NAND so you can move Dalvik cache to EXT to save more Internal memory (when you move Dalvik to EXT, you will have about 150-200 Mb free on NAND)

Ok, as I thought, you didn't
If you already have magldr, this is what you have to do:
1. flash recovery. this is the link: http://www.mediafire.com/?f81pamq6fbjmtw5
(I've found this link here in the forum)
download it, then you have to modify this file: flash.cfg
you have to open it with notepad, but put an eye on NOT change permanently the extension ( it's .cfg, have to be .cfg)
once you opened it, you have to modify like that:
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 440M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize
-my english is not very good, if you don't understand PLEASE tell me and I'll explain it again-
save the changes, then go to magldr menu, connect phone to pc, search in your phone in magldr menu "usb flasher", run DAF.exe in recovery folder on pc, follow the guide. Your phone will reboot and go to magldr menu.
Choose "ad recovery".
2.wipe full data, and dalvik cache
3. flash rom: in ad recovery, choose "install zip from sd card", and select your rom
4. reboot
If someting goes wrong, please tell me

You're welcome ( is this the way to say this?)
Yes of course, you can always change rom
If you want to change to miui, cm7 and so on, you only have to change cwr version to v3.0.2.5 or else ( it's written in rom thread )...
if you want to change recovery partition, you only have to use notepad again and run daf.exe again... I think it's quite simple...
Please tell me the result

Just tried it. It looks amazing and exactly as I expected.
Only one thing that I don't like is that it is very choppy! as in when u click on something it takes few seconds to load or when u switch screens there is a lag or a drag as if there is not enough memory to run the command.
Anyway we can tweak the settings of the recovery to make it faster?
thanks again for all your help

Yes, I experience it too... If you read my whole thread, I asked for some solution, but I think there aren't... Sense-based roms are slowlier than non-sense, hd2's hardware is perhaps a bit too old, but this is only my opinion... Have you read the thread in Nand development? I've tried some sense 3.0 rom, but I can say with no doubt this is the fastest...
This is the 1.1 release, next update will probably be better in speed... And I hope in camera and bluetooth fix as soon as possible... I'm pretty satisfied, for maximum sense experience, I think we should buy sensation, evo or other younger htc
You can try deleting some apps, if you don't use them, and look at task manager, it helps you stopping background apps, that can free ram memory...
Which kernel do you use? Most of people wrote in rom thread in nand development that jw-tytung is faster, and I confirm... All these things will help you, this is my opinion...
Hey there,
i'm using the HTC Bliss Rom for 2 days now and i think it's really great, but i have one problem, and it is significant. Everytime the display goes in standby-mode the connection gets lost. Even when i call somebody and put the phone to my ear, the connection breaks up immediately when the display turns itself off.
I really want to keep this rom, so please can somebody help me

[Q] ROM Partitioning

Hi all,
I managed already to flash some different ROM into the NAND of my HD2. Right now I´m trying out MIUI_GINGER_2.3.7_STABLE_V4.1. Although many readers are reporting brilliant performance and behaviour of the ROM, my device is coming up with "not additional memory" error message when I try and install the first app from market right after new installation.
Can some expert please tell me:
1. How can I read out the current partition settings of my device?
2. How do you usually change partition sizes (using HD2 Android NAND Toolkit?)
3. Somebody tell me the optimal partition sizes for the above mentioned MIUI ROM?
Thanks upfront for your help!
Peter
Easy way to rectify this is go to hd2 toolkit set the system partion to 130, and the cache size to 2, let it do its thing, in cwm format and wipe everything, and reinstall rom. Ive ran it before with over 100+ apps before with plenty left over. Let me kno how it fares!
sent from my HTC NexusHD2 provided by Tytung
Seems I´m doing something wrong. :-(
1. I´m doing a task29
2. Via cLK Repartition I´m applying the partition data you mentioned above
3. I´m installing MAGLDR
With this status I´m not able to install my ROM without having repartitioned the device once again via MAGLDR Repartition. The result is, that I have no more than 0,93 MB memory left after having installed the OS.
How do I install the ROM correctly via CWM?
Many thanks,
Peter

Why on Earth would you use the cLK repartition function when you have MAGLDR installed?
I would just use the 150Mb partition at the end of this guide, it fits the requirements set by the OP exactly.

how to partition 5/155/5 internal ?

I want to try a ROM which says:
Partition Layout (5/155/5) use hd2 toolkit
SDext: min. 500mb
I am not 100% sure what does it mean SDext is probably 500 ext patition bigger than 500
5/155/5 is
5 cashe
155 data and
5 WHAT????
Cant figure this out.
Thank you
Do you have any android rom installed? If yes, then you should (I had on every rom) have an option on reboot menu: reboot, recovery and BOOTLOADER - choose this one. And there you have SETTINGS->REPARTITION NAND and there set these ones your roms prefers. If you have not, then try to install this rom choosen by you, and maybe there will be option BOOTLOADER on menu. These are partitions, for example 155data(system) is space for system (I think). But standard settings are good for me and works with every rom.
[EDIT]
Try to boot phone by holding [back] nad [Power]. This opens bootloader and there you can set all.
Partition your nand using HD2 Nand Tookit.
First 5 is boot partition set to 5 by default
155 is system partition,
next 5 is cache size.
sdext partition can be set up from recovery (in cwm recovery go to advanced menu and select partition sd card), follow instructions for your rom. This can be used as if it was internal memory by your rom..
ALSO you might want to take a look HERE..
Edit: best to post any questions about any specific ROM in the ROM thread
This question was not "how-to", but more "what does 5/155/5 mean" type of question. Last time I played with internal memory of the device all I had to do was select the appropriate CWM version. This is why I asked here, I think it belongs, cos is general knowledge kind of thing.
I kind of dont see how to fiddle the size of /boot, no problems with /data and /cashe, but since you say this is default I wont have to, I suppose.
A few days ago I was pissed of by CyanogenMod (and stock Andriod in general), cos the only option to deal with Vcards is Handsend sms, but Handsend will not search for contacts correctly in Bulgarian (CYR) when installed on vanilla Android - small letters will not match capital and vice versa in contact names. This is why I decided to go for Sense - the message app is simply better...
Rather than using toolkit, download the CWM package and inside is a file called flash.cfg. Open this file and you should get this (maybe a different system or cache size)
misc ya 1M
recovery rrecov|ro|nospr filesize recovery-raw.img
boot yboot|ro 5M
system ya 150M
cache ya 5M
userdata ya|asize|hr allsize

5/155/5 is basically the middle three lines, i.e. 5Mb boot partition, 150Mb system partition and 5Mb cache partition. I don't know why chefs post it like this as I'm reasonably sure the boot is always 5Mb (I've never seen differently) so they could just post the system partition size (as quite a lot do). Hope this helps

Hm, this is something I missed!
1. I use mainly Ubuntu, hence I have have to rely on Wine or a pc I almost dont use for windows
2. I have CWM and MAGLDR installed
How to re-partition based on config file only? Can I do it?
Put the config where? (sdcard, ROM.zip)
Run what in CWM.
You would make my day, since I am away form how, with my laptop only, the ROM I run has a bug with wifi tether and I have to change it, but options are quite limited, since I dont know how to re-part, I have to choose ROMs that rely on system less or equal to 155 at teh moment. And I need a Sense, since others cant receive 100% vcards in Bulgarian (CYR)

And I need a Sense, since others cant receive 100% vcards in Bulgarian (CYR)

increase your system size to 380
Since you choose dataonext, the userdata partition in nand is not used, so can be tiny. You may as well use the nand for system, so 380mb is good.
Go higher with System size... My size is with native or direct install

LiquidSmootg DirectSD on sdext2
Hello!
Is There a way to install this rom on sdext2 partition?
I want to have some other rom with dataonEXT.
I have HD2 EU with installed Extented TWRP 2.6.3.4.
Partitions on my sd card are:
sdcard
sd-ext 2gb,
sdext2 2gb
swap 512mb
I've already installed the other rom on DataonEXT and LS on DirectSD but im affraid, that both roms use sd-ext istead of other using nand and sd-ext and LS using sdext2.
Sry for my poor english, im still studying.

Your English is fine. There won't be any problem with different ROMs using sd-ext as each ROM uses it's own folder on sd-ext.
However if you want to use just sd-ext2 for LS then add this to the sdcard: https://www.dropbox.com/s/duln5mz4rux8xkd/rdsfuncts.sh?dl=0 and install as NativeSD.
Stuck in MAGLDR
I installed my HD2 (after using my M7 for over a year now) and cannot get past the boot loader and get stuck at the GO GO GO!
Can anyone help me out.
Already started over again from scratch, but that doesn't seem to do the trick.
Maybe I missed something while it's been a while I have installed a new ROM on my HD2.
Can anyone maybe post a step by step instruction how to install this great ROM and the tools I have to use for it to work ?
Thnaks in advance
your Shortcomings
Hello my dear, I have installed your new Rom (LiquidSmooth KK_10_01_2015 v5.0) Although it has some great features but I faced some problems such as: start up, it takes along time to start. And wi-fi that doesn't open properly. Sometimes when i open settings the settings flash as well as the screen flashes. Also for closing recent apps the screen flashes. V5 sometimes freezes and there is no file explore.you cannot sign in to play store. Mobile network automatically turns off. Finally this version works very slowly in comparing to those Roms I tried before. I love this version, so I hope you to work on it a little more.

hello
I can read English moderately and poorly write so I had to rely on translate.google.de. Please for your understanding. A search is schwirig for me since I do not know the words I need.
My problem:
Once I have installed 1.5.2 CLK and the NAND partition've finished I go to recovery and then the picture comes with "Teamwin" (in blue), and again I'm not. What am I doing wrong? see Appendix
If I use 1.5.1.0 RC1 CLK I do come to install but after I confirmed the Accept butts and further geklicht stands there permanently "Please wait".
