Heres the link to the complete video install and troubleshooting shooting guide despite that some may think this is not needed I have gotten many pm's saying that they would really love to have something less confusing and straight forward so here you guys go!!!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417234

I think what needs to be done is write a guide on how to use the search function.

Or have you banned for being a bitter troll.

Another person willing to help here too! Just shoot me a PM if you have a question. Also to the guy who says we don't need this guide.. GTFO? Have you not seen how many people are asking questions? Not everyone knows what to search for when they have a problem, should they just be SOL? Don't think there is a guide for troubleshooting yet so it wouldn't be "just another guide" since its the first.

That's a little disingenuous don't you think? The only reason in the first place that search is productive is that questions were asked and answered or information was volunteered. Someone took the time to do so. Why would you take the time to be negative? You should try searching for "forum rules". Here's a couple of points from said rules:
2.5 Courtesy towards other Members...When dealing with any member, provide them with guidance, advice and instruction when you can and always with respect and courtesy. Never post in a demanding, argumentative, disrespectful or self-righteous manner.
10. Help others if you can. If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other...
Have a great day.

It seems as though I was the one breaking the rules at this site because I was the one who recieved an infraction due to the content of my third post. I do realize that I was in the wrong for getting carried away and using the wording that I did in that post. I was really only upset that I was trying to help others that were having trouble with this and got pretty upset when another individual was disrespectful and rude because he was already at the current state on hi skindle that everyone else wished to be at. So I would like to take this post to apologize to asb1264 and the community for the language that i used in that third post, I should have found a more proper way to vent my frustration back to that individual!!!!

Save yourself the embarrassment and leave the forums now.
Use the search tool or go to the Android Development.
Have you not read the thread about respecting all members?
You owe him an apology and a helpful hand to direct him to the right path.
It's only fair...

I don't owe anyone an apology.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=438
Read the FIRST item in post 2.
Telling him to leave isn't respecting him...
1. Search before posting
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.
2. Be polite and respect your fellow xda-dev user.
There is no need for cursing, flaming, racism or personal attacks. There are a lot of different nationalities on this forum all with different cultures, this means that no matter what you're like, you'll have to adjust to people that are most definitely not like you. It will gain you a lot of respect if you help to keep the peace. It's disrespectful and therefore not permitted to create Alias Member names in an attempt to deceive others.
3. Post only using a clear subject and message.
You're most likely to receive a helpful answer to your question if you use a short subject title that describes your problem and a message that explains in detail what your problem is and what you've tried to solve it.
4. Use the English language.
We understand that with all the different nationalities not everyone speaks English well, but please try. If you're really unable to post in English use an online translator, You're free to include your original message in your own language below the English translation.
5. Post a message only once.
As a large forum we don't need unnecessary clutter, You're free to edit your message as you like, so if you do not receive an answer revisit your message and see if you can describe your problem better. Not everyone is online at the same time, it might take a while before you receive an answer.
6. Do not post warez.
If a piece of software requires you to pay to use it, either pay or find your cracks and serials somewhere else. We do not accept warez nor do we permit any member to promote or describe ways in which Warez, cracks, serial codes or other means of avoiding payment, can be obtained.
7. Do not spam.
If you wish to advertise a product, contact us we provide ads. But do not post it in the forums, it will be removed and you're likely to receive a ban.
You are however allowed to sell used goods like your own device, parts of your device or accessories for your device in the marketplace forum, please read the rules there before posting. (This rule includes signatures, if you use a signature it will appear in your post)
8. Donations.
We appreciate all donations to xda-developers.com, it keeps our forum online and well maintained. As a user you're allowed to ask for donations in your signature as a thank you for your hard work. However donations up front are not allowed, this forum is about sharing, not about getting paid to do something, that's what your job is for.
9. Don't get us in trouble.
Don't post copyrighted materials or do other things that will obviously lead to legal trouble. If you wouldn't do it on your own homepage, you probably don't want to do it here either. This does not mean we agree with everything the software piracy lobby try to impose on us, it simply means you cannot break any laws here, since we'll end up dealing with legal hassle caused by you. Please use common sense: respect the forum, its users, and those that write great code.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably already quite a few people newer than you that would benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.

Regardless, you should eat your own advice. Just sayin. Respecting others in turn lets them respect you...
It's more along the lines of where it says I have to apologize.
Honestly - this post is better off locked or removed, as it is clearly off topic and is leading to flaming and unnecessary disputes.
Yay, another thread that has nothing to do with the OP.
I'm not flaming. I was at first curious to why you felt the need to be rude to him when he asked you a question when instead, you could have directed the way for him and it would have been solved.
You guide me to read the rules and yet, it seems like you yourself have not quite understood them.
Now I don't mean any disrespect in any shape or form. I'm just trying to get the noobs back by getting you/everyone to be a little bit more nice around here.
There is no need for the comment, you should leave the forums now.
What gives you the right to tell me to read the rules when you yourself don't follow them? It doesn't make any sense.
Coming from mmus.us, I am disappointed to come to this. Expecting the help and kindness I received from there was obviously a mistake.
To all members who are reading, I am sorry for any offense taken from this, but the disrespect given within these forums is out of hand at times and I feel the need to speak up...

It depends on which direction you want to take mostly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=448
this is where all G1/DREAM ROMs reside and it's up to you to choose which one.
There are also guides that will teach you how to root, unroot, etc...
I personally chose CyanogenMOD for the simple fact that it was really easy to get everything setup and done.
If CyanogenMod is the road you want to take, then go here
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Main_Page
This wiki will guide you through the ENTIRE process and them some.
The odds of you messing anything up are really slim with this road.
Hope this helps you after all the wait...

Don't take me personally, but I've seen a lot of people that come here, register, post their main question that has been answered a million times, and then just leave.
If they actually put the effort into searching for the solution, as opposed to having someone hold their finger, the "person" will learn a lot more.
My "harshness" was brought about my Mr. 1 post - figuring that he's just like the rest. If I'm wrong, and he turns out to be the next moderator, fine...
But chances are - he won't.
You have every right to speak up, after all it's on online forum. There is no one stopping you, or impeding on your right to speak - so long as it follows the rules.
Now, in response to your post of "assistance" - there have been issues with DRD20 being rooted. Again, from searching, you'll see that the SG versions are having some difficulty being rooted from stock 1.6
It seems as if the "Gold Card" method has to be used to solve the DRD20 issue:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=498142&highlight=drd20&page=2
Well thank you and this is all understandable. I see your point and agree. But with the experience I have from mmus, my way of thinking has changed.
I try to help even if it is a 1 post member because if I show the effort to help, it makes me look better and I might even learn something new in the process as well.
Take this for example,

I have no direct experience with MMUS, so I cannot account for that; however - I'm sure you had your "thinking changed." Each forum (as we can agree) helps to educate about something, whether that be old news or something new.
In fact, I'll be taking a look on those forums as well.

Put that in the perspective of the OP. Referring back to 2 posts above, the OP [most likely] put minimal effort into finding a solution. If he "didn't do anything about it," "how will [he] know."

I see your point and it is one that has been made many times over on this forum. I know. At one point in time, I also had a hard time finding the search button on the top bar of almost every forum I went to. I also, didn't like to do an "endless" scrolldown of the topics. But as every other high posting member, I learned.
It is frustrating to deal with, I know. But guidance only takes about 5 mins max to type out and then you move on to the next thread.
Sorry for the off-subject conversation here...

RUDE **** like this keep decent people away. The idea of a forum is people have to interact and contribute. If everytime someone posts something and some **** post his opinion on that post the website will eventually die....that pisses me off.... what a ****.
I think the issue here is that there is an already active thread about the Sprint 2.1 release date. The mods already combined threads together.
Apparently, the release date of the 2.1 image is causing some people to lose patience and tempers. Not trying to excuse it, just offering a possible explanation.
As a short timer on these forums I find it hard using the search to determine how many threads are out there already and if someone posted the information already. This is a very active forum and there are so many posts I am sure there is a lot of duplicate information. Being a moderator must be a full time job on active forums like these. To be safe I usually do not post anything new for fear of someone overreacting and sh*tting down my throat (and I assume that's for the best to prevent duplicate postings). I let the experts do all that, but it's too bad someone can't share information without someone acting like an ass.

Share all you want. Just make sure there's not 50 threads about it already. It's fairly easy to use search (even though you say you have a problem with it) for '2.1 release' or 'sprint 2.1' or something. It's all in your search terms. People don't tend to get pissed off unless there have already been a LOT of threads posted...and until recently the mods weren't doing a whole lot of moderating so we'd have 10-15 posts on Sprint 2.1 rumors...which is why each time someone opens a thread like that they get jumped on.

This is a developer's forum folks. Even noobs are expected to be proficient in certain areas. Like searching. If you don't like the search feature provided by XDA, use Google and specify XDA as the search location. In most cases, if you didn't spend an hour searching, you didn't give due-diligence. Think that sounds like too much work? Hey, post away! But don't get upset when someone points out your negligence. I am not picking on you, op, and I certainly am not trying to be hostile towards you or anyone else. There have been a lot of posts lately attacking forum users who are simply trying to get others to follow forum rules. People learn by being taught in a proper manner. Excuse my offensive language but why do people need to be a smart butt to someone that doesn't know. I'm sure since one of the guys first post and interaction is met with rudeness. I guess there needs to be a huge disclaimer on top of this website that says noobs please take your business elsewhere. One if the beauties of being human is that we have the ability to learn from the observation of others, not just direct, personal experience.

Sigh. Thank you. I was going to post about exactly this, but didn't really have the motivation. My post wasn't meant to be rude or flaming, but asking a direct question. I'm still incredibly new to these forums, but I lurked before I finally joined and knew what to expect. I search, and I've been successful in finding my answer all but once. And even when I did post my question, it just turns out I wasn't searching hard enough. The reason I bring all this up is that all the threads posting with the same information, especially when they have to do with 2.1 rumors (which bogs down a search for ANYTHING related to the 2.1 releases).
Point is, I wasn't intending to be rude, but was met with rudeness anyway. The people complaining are just as bad as the people they're complaining about.

The link to JT's rom belongs in the DEV section, not General, because DEV is where people go to find ****ing ROMS. DUH! The whole reason I posted it is so the average uninformed visitor doesn't install Enyo's ICS SDK crap-fest and finds the real daily driver ICS.

Still doesn't belong in the Dev section because the Dev section is used for Devving. No Devving is going to occur in a thread that links to the real post, its an information post.
If random uninformed users flash Enyo's ICS instead of JT's that's on them for not reading.

Awesome point.... let's talk about that. How much "devving" goes on in a rom thread? I'm going with none. They are release posts, nothing more!
The donate thing isn't a badge of honor, however I think it's an important point to prove I'm not just some leech. The system doesn't work if people don't support the developers.

When people don't post garbage in threads, plenty of Devving goes on in Dev threads. Or, at least it used to. That's just one of the plethora of reasons JT no longer posts here.
Nobody called you a leech, so there was no reason to mention it.

Anyone else who wants to get nasty, vulgar and abusive with me in a PM can expect me to expose the nature of the message for everyone to see. Count on it! /rant

I don't think you get it: Did you in any way consult with, ask permission for or notify jt in any way about posting a link to HIS work on this forum? If the answer is yes and he ok'ed it, then I apologize and I will go back to minding my own business. However, I know this is not what happened. You didn't ask his permission in any way and therefore you stepped over the line. Now, is it a really big deal, no. But, many of us are friends with jt (as much as you can be through the internet), we spend a lot of time in IRC together. So, we know his wishes regarding HIS work and we respect that. He has stated in NO way does he want any of his work posted on xda. We would rather not have jt say fu** it and stop posting builds on the forums period because his wishes aren't being considered. That would screw over a lot of people like yourself (who donate to jt) and there would be NO links at all to post, like the one you posted. The conclusion: was what you did, in itself, wrong? No. But you did not ask his permission to post HIS intellectual property on this forum, and that my friend is wrong. Did many of us sort of "attack" you for doing it? In a way yes, but you understand why. Please respect the wishes of the developers, and if you don't know there wishes....ask.

Sorry for my short reply when I closed it. I was watching my kids also and was having a rough time writing also.
I totally agree with you on the pages of BS. And I'm getting pretty sick of seeing it in the dev section myself also. Trust me I'm gonna do all I can to help man.

I don't need to ask permission from anyone to post a link to a thread on Rootzwiki.
Look, it doesn't make sense and I don't believe that JT is that fake-private about posting his work. (And I didn't post or re-share his ROM, only a link to Rootzwiki.) If it's public on Rootzwiki, why is anyone to think it's not straight up ****ing public?
Skynet! post that ****! I want to read what gfosco said!!!!
OK guys. I'm just gonna close the thread before things get to personal here.
Tomorrow morning ill b addressing this issue.

Why are there two different Nexus 4 Development Threads?

1- Original Android Development
2 - Android Development
Got a clue?
FYI all questions should be in the Q&A section. You should ask to have this thread moved.
Not sure but I have been running code fire x BR2 with matrix kernel in the original section and loving this combo!

original android development = original android development (ie building android from source)
android development = using a base/other sources and adding in certain features/tweaks
so your thread is clearly posted in the wrong forum!
Original Android Dev has "ORIGINAL" DEV. It has official ports and works that are ORIGINAL and NEW.
The other has port and custom built roms.
Hope this helps and IB4L
Its to fake out all the people that like posting questions in the developers thread.

Users like you two are what's wrong with the community.
New people come here and they aren't aware of the rules. Then, members who are more acquainted tell them the standard behavior and how they should treat the forums. "Post topics in relevant subforums. Questions go in Q&A, accessories goes in Accessories, etc" and "this has already been answered, you should have used the search function."
These are not rules made to piss you off. They are not rules by accident. They are suggestions of common sense and practical experience that helps prevent the forums from becoming disorganized and repetitive. You have no idea what a burden it is to have dozens of threads talking about the same thing. Or, to want to browse threads of a certain theme (Themes, for example), but every other thread is of a vastly different topic.
It is tremendously childish to disparage someone who is trying to help enforce rules. They only do so for the sake of clarity and organization. You are being very unhelpful by not directing new users and letting them do whatever they want. What do you think is accomplished if everyone takes your attitude? Those new users require feedback and guidance. The only response OP should make in regard to this is: "oh, I didn't know. Thank you for telling me so genially. I will remember this lesson."
It's tragic that both of you can be so condescending and immature, yet simultaneously chastise rule-enforcers–who are actually cordial and helpful–of being condescending and immature. That sounds uncannily child-like. You two are ridiculous and should feel ridiculous.
Don't think the mods are ever vigilant and omnipotent. Unless they read through every post of every thread, they aren't going to catch everything. That's why there's a report button next to every post. Simply posting a comment to let new users know that the posters should adhere to certain guidelines to maintain organization and reduce clutter helps mods tremendously by distributing the manpower needed to manage a huge forum like xda.
Seriously, the other posters are actually contributing by informing OP of how the site works, while you two are basically saying "F the man! I do what I want, and you should do what you want! YOLO!" This attitude leads to a terribly organized forum. I can't even fathom what goes through your heads. "Yo, don't listen to these more experienced xda members! They are just nerds! Instead, they should be listening to me!"
Honestly, you two need to grow up.

To inform ppl & to direct our newer members to the correct forums is one thing, But to make fun of or to ridicule users is another & not acceptable let alone helpful. Its because of [email protected]$$ comments like that, that alot of users have left to other Android forums. Bravo you deserve a star for that...NOT.
If you actually read my post above you would see that I was not referring to our members that were helpful, But only the ones that creat a bad user experience for our newer/older members alike. Kind of like you. I rest my case.

It's funny how you contradict yourself in your own post. You say that if you don't answer the question, that you shouldn't respond negatively, yet you throw out a few quips at other people.
You say none of us have the power to do a thing about this post yet you are wrong. Every single member should have the ability to report this thread for moving. Seeing as how you passively say that the mods will find this thread, I'm assuming you didn't report this thread either. Simply saying "mods please move this thread" doesn't bring it to their attention. They are not omnipotent and are not alerted to a new thread by simply posting "MODS."
I've gone ahead and reported the thread to be moved. For future reference to anyone who sees a thread posted in the wrong place. Feel free to direct the member to the correct location, but also report the thread for housekeeping.

Dave, quote the posts that you mentioned before. The ones that do not genially guide the OP to better use the forums. Because you claimed that some of the posts were condescending (you used many more, unnecessary words, but condescending captures the essence). Please quote them.
Also please provide which part of my post was abusive. Do so and I will apologize if I find that out-of-context, I was being inappropriate. As far as I can tell, you are being far less articulate, far less exact, and far more accusatory than ANYONE else in this thread. FAR MORE ACCUSATORY.
Your post is the first post in this thread that incited anything out of the ordinary. I suspect you are troll-baiting, or you are just plain wrong and have a hard time defending yourself with words.
Also, you are wrong to thing this is e-thugging. You are e-thugging. I have been using words and providing evidence and logic to the best of my ability to prove you wrong, and specifically referring to things you say and exact sentiments within the community. You have done nothing but put up a battered straw-man argument.

However, I think it would be best to take this to PM as I have. MF3 Galaxy????? Im lost

Can anyone explain what causes a galaxy to have a MF3 firmware. Mine has that at the end of the CSC codes and the other two codes in that list. It seems that specific coding in y firmware is preventing me from getting the Jellybeans 4.3 update from AT&t (THE MK2.) i CANNOT GET IT VIA kIES OR VIA ota. Can anyone offer some insight into this or point me to somewhere I can get some info regarding it. I'd also like to know if there's a [safe] fix for this or a way to change the firmware [without rooting it]. Just need some into. Thanks.

Scott, are you a moderator here? Your red bold statement in your signature is a little condescending. If someone does in fact read the pinned threads first, but doesn't understand them, they can't ask for help according to your logic. You are demanding they read and understand before asking for help. If everyone understood everything we wouldn't need forums would we. Take a chill pill dude.

The answer was sufficient and without any form of attitude or condescending tone. You have no room to be telling people what to do.
If the OP does not understand what they are reading, they need to make it obvious. From reading the OP, they are not doing the research. It is pretty obvious. I have been here long enough, I am experienced enough and have experienced enough to know when someone is not helping themselves.
Until you are more than just a junior member, I suggest you not tell people to chill when they do not provoke any member and provide the correct answer.

You should read the rules YOU agreed to when you signed up. If you don't like it, take it up with the site Administrator.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=263
All members ARE expected to read and search before making posts. Providing people with the information I posted is the correct thing to do as ALL people are expected to read the "Pinned" threads before asking questions that have already been answered several times. The answers (and many more) are there. If you don't like it, maybe you should start another development forum with your own rules? And I personally don't care if you think repeating the forum rules is "condescending. People like yourself are part of the problem because you don't direct people to the information they need (and should have already read) instead you "question" those that do so, Replying to people like you is a waste of time, but, unfortunately, it has to be done from time to time so people can see the correct way of doing things. Have a good day.

I read the rules back in 2010 when I signed up. I have no problem with the forum rules being repeated in signatures, I think it's fine for those who wish to do so. Modified forum rules in signatures, is another story. This becomes an interpretation of the rules. As far as me being part of some problem, you already directed the OP to the pinned topics, should I have concurred in my post as well? I simply asked you if you were a moderator and thought your signature was poorly worded thus giving it a condescending undertone. I may have gone overboard telling you to take a chill pill which I would retract, but after you suggesting that I start another development forum, and that people like me are a waste of time I am not so sure now. I guess I am more of a rule 10 guy then a rule 1 guy.
10. Help others if you can.
If you see posts from others where you can help out, please do so. This place exists because people are helping each other, and even if you are relatively new to the matter, there's probably quite a few people with less experience than you, who could benefit from what you've learned. Don't be shy.
What scott is saying is that, this question you presented has been asked not 50 times, but 100 times, and starting another thread with a repeated question is not needed, he gave you the location to read on the subject, so if you have questions then it should be addressed within that thread, that is the whole reason they were created. And 99% of your answers have been answered already. Not to direct this at you, but alot of people just start a thread to get a quick answer to which they are to lazy to read and see that the answers are there already.
His signature is just a reminder to people that, hey, look before you ask.
I see nothing wrong with Scotts answer.

The issue wasn't his answer it's his signature. I sort of feel the same way. I don't even see a problem with the text, bit of an a hole move to have it huge and in red. Especially since it shows up on all his posts. So even following a thread that is going good, if he is actively posting you have to see it every few posts for no reason. It jumps out at you too. As the first guy mentioned it would be different if he was a mod, but just some user, no matter how long they have been or how active they are, to not only take it upon themselves to be so serious about it, but to shove it in everyones face everywhere because the huge red text just jumps out on a page, is taking it a bit to far.
