Benchmark scores anyone? - Kindle Fire General

Hi all, I'm a noob and I hate myself. Because I can't post to the developer's forum... So I was just wondering what people were benchmarking after flashing custom kernels and/or ROMs?
Wow. I fastbooted the cm7 kernel and benchmark 6216 on antutu! I think this is pretty impressive as I was benchmarking around 4300 stock. Here is where I got intersectRaven's cm7 kernel:

Incredible work guys! I am also getting screen of death with no workaround, so for now, I'll wait to flash... Attached a screenshot

ROM and Kernel

Hey guys have just installed taboonay's Rom on my Acer and so far it is not too bad. I am using AOKP on my Galaxy Nexus which is awesome, is there anything similar for the Acer. Also does anyone use Franco's Kernel at all? If not, what is a good one?

With ICS, there is only 1 OC/UV kernel, and that is by EZTerry. With kernels, each is specific to the device&OS, so you really can't swap kernels around. You can find EZTerry's ICS kernel easily in the Dev forum.
AOKP? At one time there were a couple folks tried doing a Kang but they were using a non-GPL kernel, so they were not allowed to post here.

Good kernel to go with?

Hi all,
I'm looking for a good kernel for my nex7. I'm running latest paranoidrom with stock kernel. Basically i want to OC and keep my tab smooth(and tweak it here and there). Battery is not that important to me. Any suggestions?

try them all, they are all good. find the one that you and your device likes best since every device will react differently with every kernel. i prefer trinity kernel.
In my opinion for me personally, the kernel is the most important custom feature because everything I like jacking with is kernel related.
I like motley's kernels, trinity, and faux's kernels. I run Motley way more than any of the other ones, it's just a really nice and easy combination with really badass performance on my tablet. I try to run every experiemental kernel from trinity too just to keep myself in the loop.
To start with I recommend Motley's 1.11. and try builds 218 and 219 which are the same kernels with different max GPU speeds.
Simms is a kernel expert, he gives out a ton of good advice in the kernel threads.
Thanks for the advice. The reason why im asking this is because on my gnex I started my kerneladventures with franco, and this messed up my ramdisk causing me to reflash my phone. I just want to make sure that it doesnt happen again on my nex7. On the galaxy i run faux kernel, i didnt know it existed for the nex7?

Motley's anykernel installation method makes it real easy to avoid conflicts by not overwriting the rom's ramdisc and things like that, I would strongly advise getting your feet with with his kernel.
Also, make sure you're following the original development section, faux's kernel is in there along with the others.

thats because francisco was defaulting to fsync off and barrier=0 for some time. thats a tricky combination that could cause problems if you ever crashed. he doesnt do that anymore. fsync off is much safer when barrier=1
Any good kernel suggestions for 4.2? I tried m kernel and faux but both dont seem to fit in alk the way...

Kernels difference ?

Hi,
so, i'm looking for a good kernel for my N4, but... I can't really decide. I heard that franco and faux's kernel were good, but i can't see why. What's the difference between those kernels ? What's the features ? What's the difference between the stock one, and those one ?
Thanks for your answers !:good:
I'm running the matr1x kernel and I've liked it. I tried the others and this one provided the best battery life.

bricked kernel is the best!
look at this!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=RtmxlnikTiQ
Sorry to bump this post, but i'm still looking for the pros and the cons of each kernel...
I didn't find any changelog or features for franco's kernel, and faux's kernel seems good... But i don't have my N4 for the moment... So i can't test them ! Thanks for your answer
Franco's kernel gets a changelog posted every time he does an update, it just isn't added to the first post. If you use his app (free version available) to download the newest kernel, the changelog is given through that as well.
I don't know how Franco compares to other kernels since i haven't tried them, but all the standard options seem to be there. Latest update added gamma control.
I believe every device reacts differently to kernels. I personally get the best battery life from Matr1x.

Stock ROM and kernel play well together. Other than that no one can tell you, everyone has different tastes. Everyday we see these threads and the answer is the same, just try any and all that interest you.

I'm currently running Paul's' CyanogenMod 10.1 (r3) in conjunction with Franco's r41 kernel... and they work beautifully together.

Faux Mainline Kernel
Paranoid Android Pie 3.1
Genuinely the best combo i have ever experienced.
So smooth, lightning fast and like 4 days on battery.
TRY THIS COMBO
Although I'm tempted to try Omega soon !
I have had my N7 since pre order and I can't begin to tell you how many ROMs I have tried.
Dirty AOKP is the best I have used...bar none! Very fast, smooth and extremely stable. It has a very involved DEV who offers great support. It offers a choice of seven or eight kernels that you can choose when flashing. The latest build has Tablet UI that you can install without rebooting.
If you like your brother at all you need to let him try this!

SmoothRom
[ROM][Jan 13][4.2.1] SmoothROM v4.3-Smoothest ROM-Deodex-Zipalign-Tablet UI-Stable
This Rom runs really smooth & stable. I'm using it since Dec12 and no FC. With M-Kernel its amazing.

[4.4] [Mod] Qualcomm Dalvik & Bionic KitKat Optimization...

Tested on all 4.4.+ Roms seemed a little improvement mostly on benchmarks scores....?
Make a Nandroid before anything & flash at your own risk...
Don't use ART.
ZIP consists of optimized bionic and Dalvik libraries plus all necessary dependencies. If you end up in a bootloop after flashing, simply re-flash your current ROM. No wipe needed.

**EDIT** Please note that this is all stock except for root.
Thank you!

Thank you again!
Yeah, got 4k boost in AnTuTu score from this.
Haven't really noticed any real difference, though.
Yeah, this optimization works great with overclocking too, stock rom/tk-glitch kernel.
Has nobody else used this yet? Will this work for any 4.4 rom, cm 11 or aokp? And is this better tha trying art?

I have it installed. While I hadn't benchmarked this device prior to flashing, I can say that I'm getting in the 24000's on Antutu post-flash. I also can't speak regarding ART as I haven't enabled it since rooting and only ran with it on for the first day I had it so I don't remember.
Edit: all else is stock, aside from this zip.

30k? How did you get this kind of score? I'm overclocked to 1.8GHz, haven't flashed this, but got 23k is all.
Is there any noticeable advantage of flashing this? I always love to improve my tablet.
Are these any different from the ones here?

Hello, I'm newbie here. I just downloaded the files. How I flash this patch. I did press vol down and power but I cant choose any thing. just written ' downloading do not turn off target'
Closing this thread - it is painfully out of date, and long replaced by other threads. Please do not bump year old threads with new questions.
Additionally, given the problems that this can cause if you don't understand what you are doing, i can only give the friendly recommendation that you do far more reading before attempting this (or other similar tweaks and patches).
