I've searched the forums, but none of the guides fully answer my question. I don't want to brick my device, but I got a new tablet for Christmas (Samsung Galaxy Tab) and I would like to use my Kindle as en e-reader again. I installed CM7/FIREFIREFIRE/TWRP and I would like to go back to fully stock and rooted kindle. I would follow the instructions that others have posted, but I am afraid of bricking my device since none of them say anything about this setup.
What should I do?
Thanks In Advance, and sorry for being a noob, just don't want to have a $200 brick.
I did backup the 6.2.1 ROM that I had on there, would I be able to restore it, then do a factory wipe from within the stock ROM and get rid of TWRP/FFF without bricking it?
Follow these instructions... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399072

Hey guys. Just making sure im doing this all right.
Im not a total noob but just making sure im doing it right, dont want to screw up my brothers kindle fire!
What device is on:
-custom rom
-rooted
What I want:
-complete stock
-not rooted
Following this thread-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1638452
It seems i just install the zip.
MY QUESTION IS- Can i still the stock zip if im rooted or do i have to unroot before i do that?
Nevermind. Some other people said it was fine in older posts, did it and it works fine.
For future reference, to anyone who reads this thread. Just flashing the zip is NOT enough or okay. It will most likely soft brick your Kindle Fire. FOLLOW THE STEPS. WIPE, WIPE AND WIPE.
Hi all,
I'm don't own one of these tablets but my brother does. He soft bricked his (only boots to the acer screen and recovery) trying to upgrade from honeycomb to the unofficial cm10. He apparently didn't do very much reading and didn't learn that he had to upgrade the bootloader before he could run the rom. Now I can get into to twrp but restoring with his back up (I'm surprised he made one) does not work, nor do the update zips, or even flashing another honeycomb rom. Do you have a way, like odin for my galaxy note, to get this thing booted up? Or is there a way to put the right bootloader on this without being able to start the system? APX has to happen with the tablet up and going as far as I can tell.
Sorry all, I hate posting in this, but I've been reading for hours and messing with it but no luck. Any help would be amazing.
Or if you're interested in buying it from me for like $200 and fixing it yourself, let me know. He was thinking of upgrading his tablet anyway and I've pull out so much of my hair already.
Check root guide in my sig.
You need tdv4 its a custom EUU upgrade tool used for unbricking
Before u do anything you also need yr 'cpuid' a 15 digit number there should be a txt file in the nandroid backup yr brother made.
If not best see cpuid guide also in my sig....
tdv4 is pre rooted HC 3.2 and should get u up an running..
Have a breather then u can unlock the bootloader (all in the guide) and flash a custom ics or jb rom!!
Thanks so much. Your guides should make all the difference. We're going to be back at it tonight, I'll let you know how it goes!
Hi all,
First off, I've read all stickies and so-forth but wish to confirm a few things before continuing! I'm due to return my Nexus 4 to Google due to a hardware fault and wish to reset everything to stock as not to come up against any warranty issues. I've rooted, installed custom recover (CWM), and am currently running a rooted deox'd stock rom.
The guide that appears to take care of everything I need to return my N4 to "completely out of the box" is this one - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
It looks like that'll take care of 1. flashing a stock rom 2. reverting to stock recovery and then finally 3. relocking the bootloader.
Is this the best method to follow?
Is there anything else I should be aware of, or anything else I should do to revert things to 'out of the box' state?
Cheers guys.

After you finish with the flasing, if you stuck in bootloop, then go to the recovery mode (the orginal one, ofcourse) and do a factory reset.
A video if you want to watch.

So i read off a guide how to get rooted from a chinese program etc. now i just want my phone squeeky clean just like how i bought it so i can follow a LEGIT guide on this forum to get ADB, root, TWRP or CWM and flashing roms working again. Iv never flashed one rom on this yet. If i download the stock LG G2 T MOBILE build and put it onto my phone. Will it remove the chinese super user/root off of it?
I can enter downloade mode so that is no problem.
Thanks again!
I just need my phone like it came from the manufacturer so I can start rooting knowing that there won't be issues in the future
DISCLAIMER: Computer idiot. Forgive my stupidity.
Rooted my ZTE V5S using Kingoroot. Played about with apps on google store attempting to install custom recovery. Somehow, in the process, I seem to have lost even my stock recovery? When attempting to enter recovery, I now get this message:
No kernel (boot partition is bad). But it thankfully still boots the stock ROM. I have, however, lost the ability to do factory resets?
Question: is there any way that I can get the stock recovery back? Being able to install a custom recovery would be great, but I'll deal with some recovery...
PS. Any other reading materials to recommend besides http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Main_Page? I guess I'm plain stupid since I don't seem to understand it too well. I'm hoping reading it bit by bit will eventually allow something to diffuse in, but alternative reading material is welcome (and yeah, I've searched google; I just can't tell which is fact and which is fiction).
