[Q] how can i use mytouch 4g on claro network? - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i have it rooted and all but i cant use it on claro any can help me what i need to do so i can use it on claro network or att or whatever network i whant? ty =)

What root method did you use? Gfree uses simunlock, so that would probably be the best option. Or you could buy the unlock code from HTC.
EDIT: Did you put the SIM from your preferred carrier into your phone?

wow man it was when the phone released so i used the very first root...i dont remember well but it was with a terminal and alot of codes....soo i can use gfree to unlock just the sim part???

Yeah just skip everything until the simunlock part. There are a few YouTube videos as well.

wow ty man where i can download it ? if u can provide me a link i be very happy -))

Here. Basically, I think you can just type in -S. Not sure, ask in the thread. Have fun rooting
EDIT: I think you need to type "./gfree -f" no quotes and hit enter. Then you can do "./gfree --sim_unlock" no quotes. Source: Here.

[Q] Permaroot, -S and custom rom

hey everybody, first off I'm a noob..Phhh feels good to finally let it out lol..I just have a question not sure if it was asked already or not..I just got a mytouch 4g and i did a permaroot, got -S and installed cyanogen 6.1.2 RC2 and I was wondering if all that meant that it's unlocked. I have simple mobile now but was thinking of going with another carrier. If it isn't unlocked can someone show me how to unlock it (possibly for free) or direct me to the right place.

the ./gfree and SuperCID have unlocked the SIM card to use on any carrier. IF you did that then you should be good to go. If you know someone with the carrier you are looking @ just ask to use one of their SIM cards for a moment and see if you get signal.
Yea I was able to do all that so I'll see if anybody I know has that carrier and give it a try. Thanks for responding so quickly

Is it really that easy to unlock the vibrant?

I was told that if i root the phone and then install busybox and Galaxy_S App that my phone would be unlocked? would this work for att and when i go to brazil?
For a while there was galaxy unlock app that worked for me and others (and not for some). It only required root to use and it would spit out your unlock code.

I've used that app on a friends phone who went out of the country. It couldn't find the unlock code, but I used the second option and it patched a folder. It worked great. Unlocked in seconds. VERY EASY.

Just call T-Mobile and ask for a code?
So what's the way to unlock it? Thanks!

You get an unlock code (from t-mobile or hacked) put a foreign sim card (at&t works) reboot phone. It'll ask for code. You put the code in and it's unlocked.
What is the way hacked? The phone has no service atm
yes it is,just follow the instructions carefully
No you need to unlock it ,If you go Brazil or other country means you need to unlock your samsung Vibrant Phone,After unlock it use with any GSM Network Sim card.I haven't used that Apps Unlocking,You can better get the unlock code from the site
Theunlockarena.com/samsung/rs13wp8/ and unlock SAMSUNG VIBRANT.
Get SGS Unlock from the Market. The free one might work (for me it didn't), but the one that is not free got the job done.

[Q] rooted with CM7 rom = unlocked?

hello. I have a mytouch 4g and i have rooted it and put CM7 nightly on it, does that mean my phone is also unlocked so i can use another carrier on it? i have been trying to do a search on this but i cant find a clear answer. thanks in advance
What method of root did you use? As far as I know the only one that unlocks is this one, it's what I used..

SIM unlocking is done with the step that involves 'gfree'.
gfree is a utility that unlocks your SIM and CID set to 111111. In other words, unlocked. If you ran this program then you are sim unlocked if it said SUCCESS or COMPLETE or whatever it says. If that step said fail, make sure you do it right and try again, but thats the one that unlocks it.

Entering in unlock code for ROOTED Mytouch 4g

Hey you guys, I have a rooted mytouch 4g and I emailed tmobile about sending me the unlock code for my phone so I can switch over to at&t in a few weeks. I have the code and I even have a non tmobile sim card, a tracphnne sim card to be exact. I put it in and I do not get the option to enter in my unlock code.It just goes like normal. I'm sure its because of my awesome phone being unlocked, but is there another way for me to put my code in? Thanks.

I don't think your phone is compatible with Tracphone SIM cards.
not all SIMs are created equally.
I know.
I know, I really want to use it for At&t but I dont have a At&t sim card right now, so I want to use the tracphone to get it unlocked first.

Find out how it was rooted because if the gfree method was used it is already unlocked. Or even just go through the gfree process

How do I use and download the gfree? Is it a rom or a program?

Ehh its more of a file. You can find it right here. Read and follow the instructions to the t. Don't worry about the temp root part because you already have root.

Its going to work. You might get a little lost in the steps, as I did, but it works flawlessly & my opinion is the best way to root.
