Removing MotoBlur - Atrix 4G General

Hi
Ok - these might be very basic Qs... but bear with me
Do you need to root your phone to remove MotoBlur from the Atrix?
Also... will a rooted Motoblur-less phone work fine with the lapdock?
Cheers

You really should Google this info. But in short yes you need to be rooted to remove stock /system apps. Depending on what you remove yes it could break functionality. But you get to choose what to remove so don't freeze an app you require.

You need to be rooted to remove it however you can disable it with dialer codes.

Root it and then freeze blur with tibu. There's a list of stuff that will break your phone if you freeze it on the forums. Use search.

Agreed on freezing it.

How to remove Bell Update reminders

I downloaded the ota update for bell but have not installed it yet. I actually don't want to anymore because my phone works fine and I don't want to have problems like others are. But I keep getting popups to install everyday and am afraid of accidentally hitting "update now" instead of " remind later". How can I remove this pop up? Or...how can I remove the downloaded file from my phone completely. I'm just gonna wait for gingerbread and avoid any issues. Thanks

Use TiBU to freeze the updater.

Titanium backup. Basically it stops the program from running, but you can "un freeze" at anytime and it works like new. No risk at all (unless you freeze something the phone needs to run) since you can bring it back unaffected.
I believe you need the paid version to use the freeze option, but its a great program and worth the money.

[Q] How to uninstall Evernote?

I have tried to disable it but the button is greyed out for me...
Is there anyway to disable it without rooting?
Can you please post a screenshot of what it looks like when you are at the uninstall screen?

It's called Evernote not Nevernote. It's never going away lol! But seriously just don't use it? You can use your Samsung account and I'm sure the app is really small storagewise.
Root the phone and uninstall with titanium backup
At the screen, there's only two buttons
Force Stop and Disable (but greyed out)
hmm. guess I need to figure out how to root my phone :/

Like the others said it must be a system app. You will have to root to uninstall it, if you want to.

have you tried removing the stock app?
I didnt want to remove it , as I do not know if it will screw the phone up. I figure I would see if anyone has an idea before I delete system apps
try removing the native app. do a backup just in case it dosent work and then remove the app.......worst case is you have to restore and your back at square one.
Not sure personally, but I'd there a way to freeze it in Titanium Backup

ya there is but im thinking that his native hotspot is taking over when he activates tethering so even if he freezes it in tibu it may still conflict.

There is an app you can install which will allow you to accomplish freezing an application. Check out the following link:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ramdroid.appquarantine&hl=en
Hope this helps!
Thanks! But that requires root

Sorry, it's early and I cannot sleep. You are correct, this application requires a device root. To my knowledge, there is no way to freeze or remove an app which has the "disabled" button greyed out without rooting. Maybe someone with more informative knowledge can assist.
If you go to [Settings] > [General] tab > [Application manager] > [All] tab,
you will see all apps in your device. Press anyone. You will find a [Turn off] button which freeze that app.
Please note that some apps cannot be frozen without root. The [Turn off] button will be locked.
But if you rooted your device you can use other application manager apps available on Google Play store to freeze these system apps.
Here are a topic that list all apps that can be frozen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470862
Can't be done without Root access. They're System-apps (even if they are completely pointless.) and thus without Root access you do not have access to modify them.
That said, I could and have disable S Health without root.
Evernote, My Magazine, Samsung Hubs and other such random nonsense I will never use, however....
Okay... Guess I have confirmed...
Sheath is disabled without root on my device too...

TitaniumBackup shuts the app down turning it off i don't know, let's see what some one says first before you do it. Me I turn it off, but what I really wanna do is disable them by permissions so when I want to jump I'll just restore them.
