Is there anyway to Root Without Adb?
what does unknown user root mean
No, there is no root without ADB or Terminal Emulator, there is no root without a complicated process, and generally there is no easy root. Whoever wants to root this phone needs to understand a thing or 2.

Sorry to b tht guy but im new at the process does anyone have a vide to perm rooting the shift????
no video i know of but if you follow the instruction in the ROOT thread its easy
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=934165
ok thnx. yu have the shift?
yes i have a shift
how do i get adb
download the SDK
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html
Or you can do it through connectbot. I did my phone and my girlfriends brothers phone and her sisters phone that way. But learning adb will prove useful later, worst case scenario you can run the phone

i tryed everything to root my mytouch 4g i used every visionary i can find still nothing
its 2.2.1 on it
USB debugging is checked?
Visionary gives you temporary root access that does not survive a reboot. You will need to use the gfree method to unlock the bootloader and then run permanent root with Visionary.
What steps have you taken?

Pretty much sums it up. I tried temp rooting then perm rooting with VISIONary+ r14, but it didn't work, so don't try that. ./gfree is the way to go. Very simple, straightforward, and easy!
And how do I use that you got any links that would help

There's no way in the world gfree rooting method is simpler and more straightforward than visionary, root.sh method.
Visionary, root.sh method takes 3 files and one app to root and that's it. Everything can be done from the device. Takes me 5 minutes tops.

nobody said it was simpler or more straightforward. He's just suggesting another method since root.sh isn't working for him.
@op gfree's method is stickied in the development section titled ULIMATE S-OFF or something like that you can't mix the ULTIMATE! lol
yes im getting too lazy to link as i answered about 5 questions straight lol

You are confused and talking out your ass. First, I was never arguing with anybody. If anybody is arguing, is you. Second, I just gave "MY" opinion about root.sh method being easier and more straightforward than gfree. Why, because some one else stated that gfree is easier and more straightforward. Third, you say I don't read? Go back and read the post I quoted, post I posted and your out the ass post. Then come back and tell me who is the one not reading.
What are you doing in the mytouch 4g section when you own an amaze anyways.

dude lol you need to relax, the guy you quoted didn't say it's easier and simpler, he said that it's very easy and simple facepalm -____-. scroll up again, he said gfree is the way to go because root.sh didn't work for him, and it's similar to op's problem, so he should go with gfree.
I'm in this section because I own this device.
You shouldn't get so worked up over the term aguing, it isn't a bad thing. synonyms would be debating. You're arguing that your opinion on the matter is easier and simpler. I completely agree with that. But you quoted the guy who didn't make any claims comparing gfree or root.sh. amirite? lol
Wow...done.

i am having trouble with both gree and root.sh it will temp root but nothing else..
then the second time i used root.sh and everytime i powered down my phone it would go straight to the visionary triangle and stay there
Hello, I am wanting to overclock my CPU and I am not sure what my options are. I have the R800x with CDMA type network. I have rooted the phone via superoneclick (zergrush method). I am running Android 2.3.3 currently. My questions would be...
1: what is the best and easiest way to setup my phone so I can overclock?
2: will overclocking increase the stability of mupen64 emulator?
3: is there anything else I my have overlooked that could help my emulators performance?

If you're not sure, it's locked. You gotta unlock it and flash a custom kernel.

First you need to get temporary root access, follow this link
http://theunlockr.com/2010/10/20/how-to-root-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision-visionary-method/
Then follow this link and the instructions on how to get permanent root access.
http://theunlockr.com/2010/11/30/how-to-gain-permanent-root-and-s-off-on-the-t-mobile-g2-htc-vision/
This is how I rooted my G2 when I had it. After, you can follow the tutorials on how to load custom ROMs.
Always remember to do a nandroid backup before flashing anything on your phone.
Thanks to theunlockr.com.
Good luck!

if he has the latest ota, he needs to follow the whole downgrade, root, s-off process in the g2 dev section.
use the built in search on xda to find it.
True, my G2 had Android 2.2 when I rooted; since then it got the gingerbread update.

On an unrelated note, though, I totally used theunlockr to root my phone ;D although gfree was highly recomended shortly afterwards, I never ran into any problems, which I thought was cool xD VIRTUAL HIGH FIVE BRO!
I rooted my G2 by following the cyanogenMod wiki. It's really easy to follow and it worked like a charm. Even my myTouch 4g used the exact same procedure. If you are on gingerbread firmware you will need to downgrade. Guide for that is here and then root the phone with this guide here. From then on you can flash any rom you'd prefer.
I have op 2.3 this hard I don't under stan how to down grade I have down load adb in windows 7 when I put the files on sd and I pull cmd out and put the codes in I get nothing so how do I run adb is the any other way to down grade and get root easy

I'm a noob, I'm not good with tech. And I am willing to guess come christmas time when kids unwrap their presents they will need an answer to the exact question "Rooting and Installing CM10 On Nexus 7 version 4.2.1".
I have a 16GB Nexus 7 wifi model. Please tell me as simple as you can for me and others on this site how to proceed in a safe and stable manner.

Do it manually. It's extremely easy.

It's pretty much the same as every other Nexus device and doing it this way teaches you how to use fast boot and adb commands which is very useful in the future.

a root tool kit is the most dangerous way to do it, for someone that is inexperienced especially.
read up on it, there is a lot of information here how to root your device properly. a root toolkit would do it, but you wont learn anything. and when itll come to needing to fix something, you wont know how, even though it might be a simple fix. at that point you might make it worse for yourself. do yourself a favor, educate yourself first, then root your device the way youre supposed to root any nexus. the right procedure is simple.. fastboot oem unlock, fastboot flash a custom recovery, flash the su binaries or a custom rom in your recovery, reboot. thats it.
