Get ready for NEW SYNC SERVICE - XPERIA X10 General

Hello XDA!
I got this email longback from Sony Ericsson™ (forgot to share!). I am just quoting its contents " It's goodbye to the Sony Ericsson Sync Service. And hello to the Google Sync Service.
Dear Milton,
Things to do. People to see. Places to go. Thank goodness you’ve got your Sony Ericsson Handset handy to keep you organised. But what if your Sony Ericsson Handset could look after you even more efficiently? How great would that be? Well the good news is that now it can, thanks to Google Sync Services.
Google Sync Services puts you in control of all your contacts and calendars. It’s also a member of Google’s Mobile services family, which includes Gmail, Google Voice Search, Google Maps and YouTube – so you can be confident it works like a dream.
The Sony Ericsson Sync service will close down on 29 December. But there’s no need to worry because you can transfer all your stuff across to Google Sync Services today – either straight from your handset or via the web."
Anyone got this mail? So will we this service as an apk in market or something else?

No, they mean they will stop SE Sync server (somewhere in PCC, you can sync contacts to their server) and you need to use Google Sync instead.
Well it must be because only 10% percent of Xperia users use it. I don't even use it.

I wonder if the Sync will disappear from the PC Companion as well? Or just the app?

I got the mail too but never used the sync!!

Guys.....relax....it is real.
I read way back that Miyowa would be the official maker of WLM. If you go and google that company, you will see that they are the official WLM for WP7 as well and not MS.
This was quoted last year when WP7 OS was released:
"Here at Miyowa, we’ve had the pleasure of being able to play around on it (WP7 –ed.) for the past few months, as Microsoft have enlisted Miyowa to create the Windows Live Messenger app for the new OS.
We’ve long been partners with Microsoft, and are their number 1 mobile Windows Live Messenger provider. In fact, it is the success of our mobile WLM app that long ago helped us grow from a company with a couple of people working away in a tiny office, to the multi-national we are today."
Seems like they are also the official Android OS makers as well now too (unlike it's iOS counterpart which is made by MS).
Windows Live Messenger is NOT YET AVAILABLE! That other app is a STRANGE app! It cannot be official since it doesn't support some hotmail.com registered e-mailadresses!

facebook inside xperia
use facebook inside xperia feature, you must upgrade 2.3.4, and then activate it from setting>sony ericsson>facebook inside xperia, then fill your account, so your contact will synchrone with fb contacts.

just to chime in, my alternative has been a free app (was free on amazon, sorry) called ConTapps. i turned off all the notifications and only synced my facebook contacts...now i get nice big pics and thats all i really wanted
ps...haven't been as active here (came from loading a different rom a week on my eris to a verizon play) but if shark007 has a rom here, i'm going to have to try it out, love the codec pack and hes been awesome on the AVSforums
It would be nice to get 2.3.4 on verizon..

Wtf are you people talking about? Facebook in xperia was available since the release. You just go into user accounts and add a facebook account, than some of your contacts will update, and the ones that don't, just long press them and select join contacts and there you go

Hi anjath
I use Kasperky mobile security, you can lock, wipe, locate, and even take a mug shot of who's using your phone, got a free copy with the desktop version, bargain!
https://anti-theft.kaspersky.com/Account/LogOn?logonSessionData=kts&returnUrl=rm=0&id=passive&ru=%2f
I use Cerberus, it's been reviewed by Xda as the best security app, you can a bunch of stuff, even via text message if you don't have Internet

Didn't get it with my unbranded one. It's still provided as beta version in Scandinavia. But here on XDA the apk is available and you can use it in every region.
Installed it today. You can locate your phone, lock it with a four digit pin and a note for the person who found your phone and use an alarm to find it.

MyXperia - Sony's phone location service

If you have a 2012 or 2013 Xperia device you will be able to activate My Xperia from your phone’s settings. Once it’s enabled, a visit to the My Xperia site will let you sound alerts, find your phone on a map, lock it down, and erase internal and external storage. It’s surprising that three years after Find my iPhone there’s still no Google location service distributed with Android, but Xperia owners out there will no doubt be happy about having a first-party way to track down their phones.

download the app from the link provided by zolaisugly, install it as usual, go to setting--> security --> administrator --> enable myxperia
then just go to myxperia site, login and it will automatically show your phones location
It's a good idea but, there're many difficulties in tracking the lost phone, especially a phone using Android, actually! 'Coz flashing a rom is as easy as turning off a light!
P/S: However I've installed and activated this service, just like an interesting thing of technology!
Ah so its not here by default.
... And about locking phone really? Just flash it with newphone. Problem solved.
