can't change setcpu profile settings - EVO 4G General

hey guys, i'm using miui 1.12.2 rom with tiamat 4.1.0 and i installed setcpu from a link off this xda site...right now i have smartass v2 set as the governer in setcpu, but when i attempt to add a profile , somehow i can't adjust the min/max/priority settings. i'll try to place my finger to drag the tab for each of the settings, but it doesn't move...
is anyone having this problem? any solution or explanation for this? thanks!

I've had the same thing forever on MIUI. It's a pain. I have to manually open data/data/com.mhuang.overclocking/databases/profiles.sqlite and edit the values with a sqlite editor.
I've since stopped using SetCPU profiles, but if you really need to set profiles then you can do it that way.
Also, I can change the max value in the app but not the min value. I have problems with other sliders as well on MIUI.

Is it just a MIUI thing? Because on CM7 I don't have to worry about that because its built it, but never heard of that issue before.

Yeah, I think so. I don't remember it happening on CM7 but it has been a while. I first noticed it on MIUI. I now just use SetCPU to change the governor and the sliders work fine on the main screen, just can't change the min value on the profiles.
I've also noticed that on any kind of slider in any app, I have to drag the slider. I swear that I remember on other roms being able to touch the point where I wanted the slider to be and it would jump to it. Like when playing music or a video - I could touch where I wanted to skip to but now I have to drag the slider. Am I remembering wrong or is this just an MIUI thing?
It has always bugged me but not enough to make a new thread or flash another rom to find out.

No facebook notifications is a problem with the facebook app itself, not a ROM problem. Pushee is an app that is supposed to fix this, though I think they are trying to set up servers for it, so it isn't available yet.

thanks alot and what do u suggest is the best app to overclock
Best overclock app by far for the D2 is Droid Overclock. It is available in the market and I believe it is only $1.50 and well worth every penny.
You could use SetCPU, however you would have to load your own kernel module, which can be very complicated, and could possibly put your phone in a bootloop.
Droid Overclock loads a kernel module for you. It gives you choices such as voltage and frequencies. You choose, it does the rest. It also gives you profile choices very similar to SetCPU. It's very user friendly.
As a warning (which the apps tells you too) don't set any boot frequencies till you are sure you phone is stable. I've been able to overclock my D2 to 1.35GHz on ultra low voltage. I would get a random reboot every so often, so I toned it down to 1.25GHz and haven't had a problem.

Increasing app priority

Hello everyone.
I tried to use search to see if there's already been such a question, but came up empty.
I often use the stopwatch app on my Galaxy S, but the problem is, as soon as I open an app or two, the Android system kills the stopwatch process to free memory for new apps (my guess), eventhough stopwatch is still running. It happens regardless of how I exit the stopwatch, via the home button, back button, hold home and select an other app...
Is there a way to somehow increase the priority of the clock app so that the system doesn't kill it whenever it wants?
I use DarkyROM 10.3 based on JVR, but this is happening on any Gingerbread ROM I use, I tried several different kernels (currently using Semaphore 1.6.0bm BigMem version).
say thanks to all mem scripts that was used in your tkeme/rom/kernel =)

you cant make it bulletproof just like that you could try making whole group of apps bulletproof but that would make system unstable

I remember seeing an app that could do what I wanted though it couldn't save the settings.
Since I installed Semaphore 1.6.0 bigmem it all looks a bit better, will have to test it more extensively though.
yup think there is some app that can prevent app from killing, cant help tho gl
Go Launcher has the ability to "lock" an app, which prevents it from being killed. Not aware of an app that does the same.

[Q] issue with app closing (not FC)

Hey everyone
using a atrix 4g
at&t branded unlocked on rogers
running cm7 (CM7 official nightly) using faux123 kernel 1.45ghz
i'm having an interesting issue here... and im not sure how to resolve it, hence why i am make this thread.. i have searched and havent found anything
I use an app call issimo (twitter) now when you open it, it loads the timeline as usual you can do whatever...
my issues is after a certain amount of time, (its random) i try to go back into the app and its like i have never opened it... eg has to load the timeline again and isnt where i left it when i backed out...
it runs in the background just fine, its just there are certain times it does that...
i have set my heap size to 48mbs, and such but nothing is solving this...
the dev seems to think its related to the ROM needing more memory so it just closes the app... and like i said its not force closing... just exits itself.
how can i stop this from happening? anyone have any ideas?
thanks!
Try setting heapsize to 64 mb. Also have u used or has someone else used an app that messes with minfree values, or anything else that may adjust how much memory to keep/ free up?

i have previously set the heap to 64 and the dev said to not as i was having issues with it lagging due to to much in the heap... (idk...)
as for the minfree values and etc you mentioned... i dont think so... honestly i'm still fairly new to the android and the hacking/modding... that being said the minfree value is a new term for me and i dont know what that it, or how to change it lol
thanks for the help so far!

[Q] PACman on RAZR M reset data

I was playing a game this morning when my phone suddenly went to a static screen. I was unable to do anything except a simulated battery pull; when it came back up, my settings were gone.
My launcher settings were back at default
My lock screen widgets were gone
All of my app settings and savegames were gone
Some apps were no longer installed (like SwiftKey)
Other settings were still there, though; which is very odd:
Wallpaper was still set
My multiple GMail accounts were still set (though they thought I logged in for the first time on that device)
My ROM Control settings (PIE instead of Nav Bar, colors, etc) were still set
Any ideas?
I get these sometimes... Not sure on cause.
Sent from my XT907 using xda app-developers app
Odd. I'm glad it's not just me, but it still sucks.
Wow, I couldn't even re-install SwiftKey. I had to remove the folder from /data/data for it to cooperate (I got the Google Play "-24" error).
This is just bizarre.
I'm going to have to completely wipe and reflash the ROM.
If it helps one of the devs, I'm using the latest TWRP on a consumer RAZR M. I've been running this ROM for a week or so before this happened with no issues.

never happened to me (yet). I'm guessing that you must have some conflicting apps somewhere. I'm sure you already know this, but I advise to make a nandroid (about once a week) just to help restore in those events. also helps to run a backup via TiBu (or at least backup your ROM control and launcher settings).\
what kernel were you on? were you using crossbreeder? any other custom settings?

Yeah, I typically only did a nandroid when I changed something. I'll definitely start doing one more often, now!
I purchased Nandroid Manager, so I can restore individual apps and settings from my backup, eliminating the need for TiBu. I can also backup via ROM Toolbox, though, if you think it'll help.
Kernel: 3.0.81-byte.Kernel
Not using Crossbreeder as far as I know, unless it was built into the kernel or something. I didn't install it, that's for sure (alpha mods worry me on my daily driver!).
The only other custom setting I have (that can't be changed in ROM Control or the like) is a custom boot logo. I'm not overclocked or overvolted or anything, either.

i think this ROM is over-clocked by default. check the performance control under settings. for me, I set mine to max at 1512 (that's stock JB 4.1.2), and have not noticed any performance lags. I'm still tinkering with the governor and I/O scheduler.

Use pencil or any metal object as stylus on Galaxy S2 [Just like S5/Z Ultra/ Z1]

As you all know, Samsung has made a list of hidden features and one of them is where you can enable a pencil as stylus for you phone. This was USP of Xperia Z Ultra too and was also enabled via root on Xperia Z1.
But it looks like this feature will work on S2 too.
Requirements: [This was tested on SlimSaber running 4.4.2]
Any of the following:
1. Any AOSP based ROM which has the Galaxy S2 device setting included. OR
2. Any Sammy based ROM with Galaxy S2 device setting included (anyone confrim this is possbile?) OR
3. Any custom kernel which has option to change screen sensetivity (someone kindly suggest if this too is possbile)
What should be done? - Basically we need to increase the screen sensitivity
1. Open up the device settings. This can be in the app drawer depending on your ROM or integrated to the system settings. For example, in the in SlimSaber it is under: Settings - Advanced options - Device
2. Go to the "Screen" tab
3. Under "Touch sensitvity" change the value to "10"
4. Now try with pencil or any metal objects and have fun.
To quickly revert to default sensitivity turning off the screen does the job. This could be a bug.
Issues:
1. The sensitivity reverts back to default after screen off. At least in SlimSaber 4.4.2. The value will remain on 10, but i will need to tap on it again manually.
2. This will not work when the device in plugged into charger.
2. You need to go to all the way to the device setting screen each and every time. The screen is hyper sensitive for fingers when it is set to 10.
3. Of course, the screen is not as good as you to write down notes with handwriting like in Galaxy Note phones. But it is kinda cool to show it off.
3. The screen will get dirty Please don't use the phone while having food. Lead is bad for health
Video:
I am not sure whether screen sensitivity option is available for other phones like S3, S4 or other OEM too. If anyone know a way and have tried, let us know in the post.
Have you felt good about still holding on to Galaxy S2 yet?

Yes. All credits go to the CM team who developed the Galaxy S2 device settings back in ICS days. This would not been possible the easy way without their app.
I have not used the stock ROM for a long time. The device settings was an app back in ICS days. Someone can try sideloading the app to stock ROM and see if it works. Or may be any custom kernel has this screen sensitivity feature?

The DeviceSettings app writes the value selected for touch sensitivity to the following file to be picked up by the kernel:
Code:
/sys/class/sec/sec_touchscreen/tsp_threshold
Maybe some sort of scripting utility or tasker could help with rewriting the value to the file when the screen turns on and possibly save you having to go back in to force the update through the app??

At default 50, my S2 screen has sensitivity issues o occasionally. Even if I decrease the value it's only until screen off.

Maybe you can ask in the ROM thread if its buried somewhere else. Here is the device settings apk link from google search. But it did not install in mine, nor it worked when i side loaded it. https://code.google.com/p/slimics28/downloads/detail?name=GalaxyS2Settings.apk
Tried this one in NeatROM (Stock JB-Based) with Apolo Kernel and it worked, but it's seems too uncontrollable...
I made a script of the tsp_threshold value changing to 10, ran it, and tested my regular ballpen on it (empty, of course) and it worked, but most of the time, it won't detect the ballpen when I tried tapping it to type on a soft keyboard.
But when I do gestures like sliding and dragging, it works, though.
Is it safe to change the threshold to 5? I can't do it because I'm scared I might mess up some sh*t.
And also, I think when observed, that the threshold resets from 10 to 40 (my default) when screen turns off, since when I tried screen-off, then on, the touchscreen won't detect my ballpen anymore, and I have to re-run the script to do it again...

It's not even as stable as I showed it in the video?
Can you make that script using SManager app? That way the script can work even after screen lock or something. I think this is the app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=os.tools.scriptmanager
And I have no idea what happens when it's set to 5 try it out. Nothing bad might happen.

About the video, yes, it's not that stable. But I guess it's the ROM's/Kernel's fault, since it's unstable changing the thresholds, they don't bother fixing it...
As for the script, have a look atTasker for that. When it screens-off, the threshold reverts back to normal (the bug on the ROM, maybe?), right?
Then when you do screen-on, use Tasker and it will automatically run the script, and will change the thresholds to the desired percent...
for the script commands I just created a script file:
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
#Change Touch Sensitivity Script
#Default Sensitivity is 40 on NeatROM
echo 10 > /sys/class/sec/sec_touchscreen/tsp_threshold
Then put it on /system/xbin, changed it's permissions to 777, then ran it on Terminal Emulator.
To test, run this on your Terminal Emulator:
Code:
$ su
# sh -x /system/xbin/<name of the script>
It must echo your desired sensitivity. Then if all's well, try your pen now...
