Hi, guys.
The below images were taken from my I9023 having Oxygen 2.3.2 (at the moment). Standard, no kernel change, no cpu setting change, just plain Oxygen.
Light use: 30 mins on the phone / day, checking emails, news, updating weather, at least 1 hour on wifi per day.
For me battery life it's important so i was wondering if anyone can come up with something better regarding battery life. Maybe another ROM ....
I know it's highly relative to personal use, but would like to hear some opinion on this.
Thanks.
Have a nice weekend all.
G.

The usage is as described in first post. Told you, ROM is Oxygen with everything that Oxygen comes with.
Unless you switch to a flip phone you're never going to get better battery than that.
I have managed to get to 6 days, but pretty much I just use the phone for calls, text, email and occasional browsing and music. No gaming at all

I have used CM7, CM7 mv, and Oxygen(the most stable), all of them with the same battery life.
Kernel I use Lucid 2.1y, BLN, no setcpu, stock 100-1000Mhz
I must say that I use my data "on demand" it is always off unless I want to check emails, look for directions, surf something, etc. I have a toggle in the status bar for data (autosync is ON always).
I use most of the time 2G unless I need to surf the web.
I use auto brightness also.
Using my HTC HD2 in the same way I can't pass the 2.5 days mark. so the truth is that NS has a pretty good battery life.
which one is better for battery life time?
i9023 or i9020? thanks!!

I got 4 days and 13 hours with mine, using GingerDX aswell.
There's no secret for that, just chage the configurations for max battery saving and disable background apps or services you don't need.
Calibrate battery, maybe some build.prop edits and that's it

4 days? maybe you seldom use your phone.
just several sms,phone
Yes, maybe wifi and network data not work
i used a bit of 3g while out and about FB and news, used wifi when i was at home again just bits and bobs, sent quite a few texts as well as some calls. was just average use nothing major.
the only thing i did was download Battery Calibrator charged to 100% ran the app to clear the battery stats and got a nice 4 days out of it
7days 1hour with 11% left.
Now i do use phone for a few calls/sms only, but hey, it's even better than my old non-android one!

my first 20% of battery drain so fast but starting from 80% and down drains slower....
idk whats the cause of that....
i think 7 days is impossible
Can someone that doesn't have problem with battery drain upload battery status file (data/system/batterystats.bin)?

Well,
First of all, this (note that smartass is preinstalled on GingerDX, at least on v013 it was; screen brightness for me is set at minimum level, 13% which is more than fine indoors and outside if cloudy);
V6 supercharger from here (yet i do have some troubles with it, as described here);
Autostarts to remove many processes from the autostart list, but play carefully around with them! I won't provide the entire list of enabled/disabled apps (reason: too lazy, it's 4 am in the morning);
Advanced Task Killer to kill all the unnecessary ones (incl messaging and some more, don't forget to kill the task killer along).
Android Assistant launcher widget to free some memory (i do keep it in memory, it doesn't seem to cause any trouble by staying there);
Signal quality also plays a role in how fast your battery goes, better quality = longer standby; so play around with places in your home to find best spot, it can take a few days though;
Also i use my phone mostly for a few short calls (10-30 mins total per day) and an sms or two, this also helps, since i'm most of the time at home near my computer (i work at home lol);
Charging from ~10% from computer (slower charging) seems to help a bit too, not entirely sure;
Static wallpaper! Live ones are a power hog.
And generally - the less you toy with your phone, the longer will the battery last

Hey guys i want to switch to stock rom ..! so just want to ask which stock rom will give me good battery life or any stock rom+ custom kernel combination will give me a good battery life ..
Thnx
I'm getting great results on OMKJ4. Much better than anything else I've used on the S2. If I push my luck I can get 2 days plus the night between (not 2 full days though but I suspect the 2000mah battery would let me if I could actually lay my hands on one).
(There are a lot of issues though in flashing OM builds on anything but an SC-02C)

Well best battery life depends on how you are using the phone. Display On time should be the figure to find out which one is performing best.
I am on KI8 atm, Display On time is very good, around 5.5 h, but it drains battery a lot compare to old KF3, overnight drain was 2/3% on KF3, but now it is 10+%! Now I'll use it for another day and see if it drains the same again then I'll be moving to KI3, which I previously used and loved.
Maybe only me but I've had good luck with the ROMs which end up with 3

20 hours isn't bad. Bear in mind this is a smart phone with big screen & cloud (almost continuos internet connection). Wifi is about 30-50 min, 5-12 sms, 30-40 min of calls (via BT headset), 4 emails (updates with push or fetch in 30 min interval), RSS,weather (every 3 hours). Market, Samsung apps browsing - 40-50 min. GTalk 24/7 ,eBay - 15-20 min.Twitter every 30 min, FB-every 4 hours (not a big fan of it ). Games up to 2 hours. Few widgets (weather, email,clock,calendar). I am on Vodafone now, and almost always on H+, so that also affects battery life. Some say that on 2G network you get better battery life, but my experience is opposite.
And ROM yes, full stock ( I mean no custom kernels etc).
Ki8...54 hours...medium user.

I just typed out my post and got the Mac equivalent of a BSoD and lost what i typed (wow fist time that has ever happened to me).
Flashed Decks, I have tried both tiamat and SavagedZen kernels. Followed a few different guides and no luck at all batter still stucks. Today my stats were as follows. 4h 55m on battery with very light to little or no usage at all and battery is at 10%. When i had it on stock ROM have much heavier usage and was never that low before. I rooted to get rid of bloatware and my main reason for AOSP ROM was to get away from sense messed up BT stack (want to use Wii controller), but if this is what I'm up against I will stick with a sense ROM (probably go back with fresh had with my hero and it worked well). is this the norm for ASOP? Ive seen other post about better battery life on sense ROMs. is it just how it handle the system different I already followed this one here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19474607#post19474607
And couldn't get it working fully. Does anyone have any other suggestion. Different ROMs, kernels, setting I could try as a last shot. Would prefer a basic ASOP with good battery life, and most stuff working (don't know if that's to much to ask).
Thanks in advance.
I don't think that 5 hours of battery life should be considered normal for any ROM. If that is all you get from a phone then something is wrong.
Have you tried wiping battery stats in recovery? Sometimes the software just reads the battery level incorrectly. It would have to be pretty far off to claim you were at 10% after only 5 hours but who knows...
You can google it but the typical process is to charge it up to 100%, wipe battery stats, then reboot and unplug. Drain the phone until it's absolutely dead then you charge it fully again and it should read the battery level more accurately. Apparently it is bad for Lithium Ion batteries to be drained completely though, so it is not recommended to do this often as it can shorten the overall performance of your battery.
I haven't seen much of a difference in my battery life using Cyanogenmod 7 or MikG (currently running 2.58 but 2.60 is out now). I personally really prefer sense ROMs and MikG is definitely the best one I have used. Give it a shot. I have gotten 60 hours of battery life on the stock Sense ROM (granted, it was with almost no use) and over 30 hours with pretty decent usage. I posted some youtube videos to demonstrate this since I figured everyone would claim I doctored photos:
over 50 hours (wound up being 60 hours by the time I finally unplugged):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGJucqVw0RQ
32 hours:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPqtsRDRYEs
I have since moved to MikG but I pushed my battery again last weekend and got another 30+ hours of it. I'm extremely happy with my battery life!
I am sticking with MikG over CM7...I have too many issues with CM7 and there just isn't enough to keep me there. I was going to write up a huge post about that now.
yea i actually did wipe that stats. Ill probably just do a full wipe and start fresh with sense rom and see where it goes. What are some advantages of mikG any features that make it special over others? What version of sense does it have? Im in the same boat some what, but I will say your time should be better with no use. Im not getting huge battery increases with aosp roms when using the phone. Im better off with the stuff that worked well on sense roms for me with no tinkering (gps, slow sd speeds, updating prls, etc)
Im convinced the people that claim these lengthy phone hours dont use their phone besides texting much even if they say otherwise. Most screen shots I see rarely even have voice calls registering. I think the best way for "me" to get a full day is to buy an extended battery. Im not on wifi all day, Im in and out of low signal areas. I need to keep data on due to emails for work. Maybe Ill run into a miracle rom and kernel, lol
I do like the classic rom which I backed up and I will try some others today (fusion/hyrbid ex1)

I totally agree with you with is why if you watch my second video posted above, I actually go into the usage screen and tap on the things to show what I am using. 50 minutes of voice calls, 25 minutes of words with friends, 41 minutes of GPS, Bluetooth on 100% of the time, etc.
But typically when I see those you tube videos I see people saying they were using their phone heavily and got 25 hours out of it. If you look closely in their battery stats screen though, you'll see that cell standby was the top battery user. That refutes the heavy usage claim right there!

1. Does it have the native hotspot app unlocked or just wireless tether?
2. Has CarrierID been removed or disabled?
3. Should I use the default kernel in the rom, or is there a particular one you use.

Great! I have found MikG to be awesome so I'm glad it works for you too. If you want to upload a screenshot then tap the power button and quickly hit home. It should take a screenshot. Then if you want to share it you can go the gallery app and tap the share icon (circle with 2 arrows). If you want to attach it to a post here from your phone (xda app) then start a message and then tap the more button. You should be able to attach something from the gallery.
I just posted pretty much the same info at themikmik.com but it was more detailed. I'm on my phone right now but I'll go copy that link and paste it into an edit here.

Senseless MikG 2.9 has gotten me over 2 days of moderate usage consistently. This however does not include 4G since I can't get a signal anywhere >_<
I use CM7.1 + SavagedZen (latest) SBC (BFS) and get between 40 and 60 hours depending on usage.
I am also using the Sprint extended battery, however. By my estimation, this accounts for roughly 8 - 10 of those hours.
The kernel made a HUGE difference. Tiamat 3.3.7 was only getting me about 20 hours tops.
Phone is also undervolted, and supercharged. No overclocking or underclocking. I am incredibly pleased with this phone - definitely can't switch phones unless I know that I can get something remotely close in terms of battery life!

I just would like to show my appreciation to gamblor01 for his links and knowledge base..I am a flashaholic only because I wanted to find the best performing Rom/Kernel combo to squeeze the most life out of my battery and to be honest I am a bit of a noob...I have tried synergy ROM synister Rom kinged shooter, cm7 which did show some improvements but I just love my sense roms.....I stumbled upon this last night...and i did it...found MikG 2.60 sense Rom and i am running chopsuey 9.2.6 and i did like he stated .....turned off unnecessary things like 3g when not using...lowered display brightness, changed sync settings to a very minimal to where it only updates when I open the app...I went to work for 8 am and the phone was off the charger till it died 16 hours later almost 17 I will post pics as testament thanks again
The phone died around 12 am almost 1..btw

Simple solution, sell or return the Evo and get a 2nd generation windows phone mango device such as the Focus S or Titan or Lumina series, or even a first Gen such as the Focus. No more constant rom flashes, force closes, lag, and horrible battery life.

Sent from my EVO with a 16 hour battery
Hey everyone.
I get about 3.5 hours of SOT with a max of around 4 from time to time. (Adaptive brightness turned off, brightness set to around 50%) I'm not an aggressive user and I've even had my battery go low before I've even reached 3 hours of screen time. I'm on stock rooted with nothing real special going on. I'm not against using a different rom if I have to in order to get better battery life.
My experience so far is that the battery seems average at best. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
Forgot to mention, I do leave wifi and bluetooth on 24/7. GPS is usually set to high accuracy as well. Wifi & bluetooth scanning are both off. In the battery stats page it shows the device being in an awaken state a lot more than when the screen is actually on... bluetooth wake lock issue?
Sounds good

I pray this is sarcasm.
3/4 of this forum is being saturated by SoT topics and posts, and ppl thinking they should be getting 24hrs of screen time.
This could have EASILY been placed in any of those threads, is my point.

im easily getting 6-8 hours of SOT. pure nexus, elementalx, and greenify. i use my phone all day and still get 17-20 hours of total use. everything on and when battery gets to about 30% i turn on powersave option with the elementalx app. also with the elementalx i use the settings posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-5x/general/guide-advanced-interactive-governor-t3269557 and my phone hasnt bogged down whatsoever. give it a try.

I get about 3.5 - 4 hours it honestly depends on your usage, there's a battery life thread in real reviews you should check out battery life is going to be different for everyone. Signal strength, carrier, amount used on wifi, personal use, apps all have a factor on it.
I've always gotten between 5-6 hours SOT. I don't leave all that on. If I'm not using it I turn it off and I use a custom kernel always. Usually ak or Kylo. Best battery I've ever gotten constantly on any device I've ever owned.

Thanks again for the suggestion. I installed everything you mentioned and performed the tweak for battery life.. So far everything seems amazing
Nexus 6p running 7.1.1 beta. Rooted, but running stock ROM and kernel. Only modifications are Pixel launcher and Google Assistant. Brightness at 10-15%. Wi-Fi is on while the screen is on only, but Bluetooth and mobile data are always off. Location services are set to battery saving. Screen timeout set to 30 seconds. Adaptive brightness and ambient display is off. I'm only getting 3hrs SOT, but standby time is great. Only watch one hour of YouTube altogether and use social media often. Is this good or is there something wrong with my battery? ?

Install a battery app like GSAM and you can see what is using it, or things that may be causing wake locks.

Try a factory reset. Factory reset mostly fixes such issues of wakelocks.

Tried that and wiped the cache partition. No luck. I'm pretty sure it's poor optimization on Nougat. Hopefully Google will fix it.

Even i was on stock Nougat for a long time...but i didnt face such issues yet. Infact i think Nougat optimizes better than Marshmallow. As battery backup has substantially increased...a bit.

Well it may also depend on ur battery life..not all phones work the same as they must .
I seriously thought that such a big battery and the optimization that I 've witnessed on many other Huawei devices would mean that I would get better battery life.... How to fix this people.... Help!

It drains in such a short time.... I would've sent you some screenshots but it says network error...

Private messages are not for chats, more so if it concerns others too, if it can help others.
You can write thenumbers that bother you, and we then can say if those are bad or not.

I get 4 hrs of SOT
Average use daily is checking e-mails - checking Facebook and Twitter - Youtube and Music streaming - no games.... Sometimes, it drains without even doing that and I barely pass a day without charging it.....
PS:
The Screen on time is inconsistent as it might be just 2 hrs or 3 hrs and it would be consumed completely!
Is there a ROM or an app or anything that can help me get better SOT?
Thanks and apologies for the message, I now know that it was unnecessary.

As I said earlier, and I can't stress it enough, install a better battery monitor such as GSAM. You can see exactly what is using your battery and what is causing wake locks. It is the best first step in trying to fix drain.

Make sure you let it run for a couple full cycles and you have to read it correctly. You can't get useful stats the minute you install it because it needs to run through full cycles while charging and unplugged, as it can only provide information for the time it's been installed. The longer you run it, the more accurate it is. Second, the App Usage stat is a percentage of the percentage of battery used. So if your battery is at 70% when you look at app usage and it says those things used 57% of the battery, that's 57% of the 30% used to that point.
You also need to look at the Held Awake stats because that will tell you what, if any, processes are keeping your phone awake and thus contributing to drain.
I have found that the system in Nougat does tend to use more battery than it did in MM. However, doze implementation is better and it deep sleeps more and does a better job of saving battery. In fact since Nougat, I've stopped using Greenify because it actually seemed to make my battery worse. Since I've been on Nougat I get well over a day on a charge with about 5-5:30 SoT. However, battery also comes down to what ROM and kernel you use and how much you do processor and screen intensive tasks. Music streaming doesn't tend to use much battery, but if you spend a lot of time web surfing, Youtube and games, you'll cook your battery no matter what. If you use the Facebook app, nothing you can do will help as it's a dreadful battery suck.
Here are the numbers provided by the GSam App
Are these numbers good or bad?
The average use gets me through the day but if I use it heavily, it would last 3hrs max.
