Amazing... Frankly, I'm amazed that anyone at Samsung cares enough about the old Captivate to keep iterating these builds and leaking them to us....

Poor Johnsondr80, IlluminatedOne, ddoubt, CRT60, Kyuta Syuko and many other devs... I am happy that I don't have to keep up with these crazy leaks every other day
Przekret,
Thank you, again ! We Captivate owners do appreciate these leaks.
Is there root for this leaked version yet? What changes are noticeable? I'm just interested in removing Tethering Manager
Stock KK4 Kernel and Modem attached here.
^ FuguRoot Mod will work again. Use the zImage-root.tar attached to that thread. Please Read the Root instructions only. And obviously for step 6, use the stock kk4 kernel. Here's that thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14794703&postcount=1
Here is the Stock KK4 Kernel...

Here is the Stock KK4 Modem. It is not a cwm flashable zip. Just open the .zip and flash the modem.bin through Odin.

I'm also betting flashing a KK2 based or any of the other I897 GB kernels with root will work too.

Betrwr take a look. Either she has to deal with you.....or you with her.
Either way something or someone has to give.
My wife hates to see the laptop open.
But she knows theres lots worse things i could be doing.
And inreturn.....i make time for her.

So... are there any clues to look for in the ROM to show the continued existence of test code inside the ROM? (I am assuming of course, that there would be some code that exists merely for debugging purposes). [CROSS FIGURES] Presumably seven months after the i9000 got Gingerbread, four months after AT&T said it was coming this year, and a week after the Epic got it, an official drop should be coming soon. [/CROSS FIGURES] KK2 has worked the best of all of the Gingerbread leaks to date, almost hesitant to go through another rebuild effort (yes, I expect KK4 is non-wipe, but better safe than sorry),

Does deleting the Tethering Manager.apk "enable" tethering? I never understood the difference between a stock rom and one with "Tethering enabled".
Thanks,

Tethering as a function is enabled within Gingerbread, the tethering manager is supposed to assure that you have an AT&T tethering plan (however, I have sadly learned that it does not always work with corporate plans). Deleting or freezing the APK defeats the plan compliance check.

Downloading now
Edit: Flashing Now
Looking at the Twitter feed, the KI2 is 184,98MB and the KI3 is 184,99MB.
Im wondering if we are really close to final release and all of these leaks are just fixing the last few bugs (black lockscreen until wallpaper is chosen)?
What are the improvements/changes, if any, over KI1?

It looked like there was a KI3 as well, but the datestamp was actually older than the latest KI2! Probably just multiple code branches and they decided to merge on the most stable KI2 -- so it looks like this may be the stable one for a while.
But's it really nice that they got 2.3.5 in here instead of just settling on 2.3.3 or 2.3.4!
It's raining updates.
I just wish i had a captivate to try this haha

Yeah, this will again (as in the kh3, ki1 and ki2) be another non wipe. Or rather the only thing that shows to be wiped when Odined is the cache. This is again because this leak was not released in a 3 file set up. i.e. a "main".tar, MODEM.tar and a CSC.tar -- this is how the KF1 was set up.

I don't think they'll give the captivate a 2.3.6 ROM like the infuse, even though according to the smali code, it'll work for both.

Man, figures, as soon as I installed KJ3 that this would drop. Time to try yet again to see if my soft reboots are firmware related or not.
Has anyone actually noticed anything overtly different with this vs. KJ3?
Any sense as to whether this is actually the build that will actually be release via Kies? If I recall correctly, Froyo came out officially in the order of Epic, Vibrant, Captivate, Fascinate. Wonder if we will see the same schedule again.
Przekret, Thanks again for the leak ! Much appreciated !!

Really don't need another gingerbread rom with ice cream sandwich round the corner. What the hell is samsung thinking.
Currently running the chainfire repacked i9220 version of ics for N7000 and is good enough as a daily rom.

LB1 is better than LA6?

What I can say many apps not ready for ICS and to many bugs (force close). for normal user and less headache just stick to official release.

im glad it was posted here, why shouldnt every update be posted? this is xda not sammobile, those who dont visit there wont know about the update until people point it out
* Is the Keyboard Lag gone for good, or is it still there ?
* Android OS battery Drain, Still present ?
* Black Shades in Video Playback ?
If the Above three bugs are fixed, I'd "consider" upgrading. Bad thing, Samsung doesn't release changelogs with their leaks . !!!

either of LA4/LA6 should works, more over new kernels are identical, so there should not be problem to use it.
