Here is a video on SGS running android 3.0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a8LTS-JpSbk
and 4.0: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcpFlNwA81s&feature=youtu.be
What do u guys think? Which one are you most excited about? Which one do u prefer?
3.0 vs 4.0
think you posted in the wrong section dude...
wrong section , any moderator move this
Sorry, i noticed, but its moved now. Back to the questions!
Please stop.. 3.0 was abandoned already, and u can't even call with that. on the other hand 4.0 is just being developed and is on alpha build...
That 4.0 looks like the PC demo and not the real deal, but to choose one that I wana see on this device ICS

Yeah, the video that claims to be 4.0 on sgs is actually the sdk emulator running on a pc.
The 4.0 is better as that has somthing to do with a phone in the first place but the demo looks like my sdk version the 3.0 is way to small
can't wait for ICS to be released to SGS

My friend got the Samsung Galaxy S2, and I got to play with it. I can say that i absolutely LOVE TouchWiz 4.0. So if any of the great devs on XDA are reading this, can you make a TouchWiz 4 port for the HTC HD2? Because i tried touchwiz 3 and it was not as good as 4, by a long shot. And if there isn't a port planned for development, can anyone link me to an APK or launcher?

Surely it will be less buggy than an interface for a far more different phone?
i'm pretty sure someone is able to port
Check out the MIUI ROMs they have some of the TouchWiz incorporated into the ROMs.
TouchWiz 4.0 is already ported to Galaxy Tab:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077641
Can someone try to port it for HD2?
Might I ask what about touchwiz you like? If it's in functionality, then sense, or any other rom as a matter of fact, offers the same.
I like how it looks like (almost like MIUI) and TW 4.0 has useful gesture support.
Sense 3.0 has only nice lockscreen, nothing else has changed since times of Desire.
And I really want to try that, cause SGS2 is to expensive for me...
I think the gesture controls need a gyroscrope also to work since they don't work with my cappy running tw4. Which the hd2 doesn't have or any other phone other than the age 2.

I have heard that some guys managed to port Android 3.0, better known as Honeycomb, to the G1, HTC Magic and to the Nexus One.
This are of course very beta versions, but the phones boot with it.
So, I wonder if someone could port 3.0 to our Xperia?
The HTC Magic and G1 were the first phones with Android, so our Xperia must be much better than them and, theoratically, it could work on it with just fewer lags than on the G1.
There are so many 2.2 and 2.3 ROMs available for our Xperia, so why not try to port 3.0?
If you think this is a stupid thread, just remove it, but I just wanted to know it.
Thanks in advance for your answers.
USE SEARCH FEATURE ON XDA AND YOU WILL FIND IT. Don't be lazy
You must be new here!
you will get burned at the stake by the guys here for opening such thread xD we are struggling to get a 100% bugless working android 2.2 and you bringing up android 3.0 which is meant for tablets with big screens xD lol
Edit : also such question is not meant to be in the dev section....
It was just a noob question...I also said that the versions for Nexus One, G1 and Magic are very beta versions.
There used to be an early version of Honeycomb somewhere here but the project has been abandoned. And no wonder - our kernel cannot even run Gingerbread without bugs, not to mention higher versions...
Even the kernel supports it, maybe phone will be too much laggy, as the HoneyComb suggests the need of 1.0Ghz processor, that is not our Case
So why they can run it on G1?
Does it have an unlocked bootloader, so you can flash a custom kernel?

Probably yes, Xperia stills locked and cannot boot custom kernels
Some dev are trying to make the bootloader bypass, but is not easy. :/

not easy and i think they already gave up
Graveir and aldee_s are right: someone has already ported it, but development is currently down.
here is the thread to it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=982384&highlight=honeycomb
Blagus was disappointed with that, the only one that i saw making some progress was maxfron, but I didnĀ“t saw him anymore
That had it ported but far to laggy m8 r CPU 2 slow at the min but I think I may still have that download ill cheack for u and upload it if so
my civic
Is because our phone is not ARMv7 & above and the processor speed is not super fast..if u port it into x8 it will buggy & lags in all of the function
Lets wait for 2. 4 but google need so much time : #

There are already a few phones with Android 2.4 (not for sale, but someone somehow managed to get some)
Here is a youtube video, where you can see Xperia arc running 2.4:

This is fake he just editted the build.prob file!
Sent from my X8 using XDA Premium App
You can edit this in build.prop?
Do you mean the line:
Code:
ro.build.version.sdk=8
, so you would only have to change the number?
I think new Android will be 4.0 "Ice Cream Sandwich"
Not 2.4

your new here arent ya? hahaha! its not very impossible to port 3.0 in our x8 just wait and see
Hey Guys ... .. .. Was THinking ... . . . .
About Porting 3.0 Honeycomb in Wildfire!! ...
I saw somewhere it was a ADW THeme .... but that was not so appealing ... can we Port Honeycomb Like Nicely
No. This is as far as it will get:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=972638
Just think about it - Porting Sense 2.1 from other Mid Range smartphones is giving so many issues, how can you possibly imagine a "Nicely ported" Homeycomb? Be realistic.
There is already honeyfire Rom. It is experimental and many things are not working. I think its source code is not released yet (correct me if I'm wrong).
Anyhow it is primarily meant for tabs I think.
Edit: nvm...
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
I don't think there will be one due to the limitations of Wildfire's hardware

Rather than Honeycomb (Which is for tablets anyway, so I doubt the "Phone" functionality works), I think we should be more concerned about whether we will have a proper ROM with Ice Cream Sandwich, else be stuck with Gingerbread.
okk guys by seeing ur Post i came to a Conclusion that we cant port our Wildfire with honeycomb (Duh) ... but we can make a rom ... like Honeyfire .... like graphics ... the launcher and all would be same but the effects and lock screen would be of Honeycomb
Honeyfire is a Honeycomb port.

we can design 2.3.4 theme
The new android 4.0 is uber uber cool. Any news as to when our beloved hero htc hd2 will be able to get this ported ?
I cannot wait for the port ill be the first to try the beta when atleast 70% features working.
Let me know if u have any info on that thanks
Android 4.0 should be pushed to AOSP when the Galaxy Nexus is released. Or so I read.. Mid November ish
I suspect it will need to be a "slim" rom to work with so little memory on the phone, but I'll tru it myself as well
I saw new thread in Sensation Development Thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429953
so, go go go devs !
If i'am correct than is this rom is not for the HD2.
I hope someone pickes it up!

You're right, hope some dev will port it!
That ROM is obsolete. That's a sense 3.6 ROM.
One the portal, someone has begun a port of sense 4.0 forreal though... unfortunately not for the HD2 though

To be honest I doubt Sense 4.0 would be usable if it ever was ported to the HD2, so I think maybe interesting to play around with but unfortunately nothing to seriously look forwards to
I think the devs are having a hard time with the new 4.0 software. :/

I promise, at the end of March, or whenever the XL RUU releases, I will be working on the ICS update port for Sensation XL.
Read here:
(Click)
I know a bunch of other Devs/Chefs that are apart of the HD2 Android community will probably do the same.
The ROM of the new HTC one V seems really interesting to be ported to hd2 (rosie is 800x480) ...
Ice Cream Sandwich is having problems with drivers. So, ICS with Sense 4.0 would require a new batch of drivers which would take more time to solve bugs etc.
i have posted a thread trying to port an actual sense 4.0 but im stuck and in need of help (thread in Q+A named porting sense 4.0)
