Not that it is the biggest deal but i saw HERE that the 2.3.7 (GWK74) baseband (radio) for the NS4G is actually suppoed to be D720SPRKH1 and not D720SPRKE1:
(*) As a note, radio version D720SPRKH1 for Nexus S 4G sometimes erroneously reports version D720SPRKE1. If this is the case for your Nexus S 4G, you can locally modify the version-baseband line in device/samsung/crespo4g/board-info.txt accordingly.
It was seriously driving me crazy why the newer radio seemed to go backward in the incremental version number, now i can sleep, lol...
Cool. Thanks for the info. Is there a way to change this on the phone in say root explorer?

I thought the G2 was going to be a vanilla android device..
And if it does have HTC stuff there might be problems related to framework.

What I can tell you is that this build does not include Rosie.apk which is the core of SenseUI, so this is definitely more vanilla than other recent HTC Android phones.
Drizzy corrected himself later. he apparently had the Ace and G2 dumps confused.
The one I posted on twitter (link a few posts above) is the unpackaged and rezipped system.img from the leaked G2 ROM
Vanilla Android
Apologies for the noob question here, but is there anyway to extract bootanimation.zip from the ROM?
There doesn't seem to be a bootanimation.zip file included in the system dump.
There is a bootanimation file in the dump under bin folder havent tried to do anything with it yet jus got the dump jus starting to sift thru it dont seem to be much usefull to me so far pertty standard **** dont look like any apps are anything id wanna put effort into porting as of now

That's not a bootanimation. That's an executable you're looking at.
Android stores the actual boot animation under /system/media/.

in order to change the buttons on the launcher you need to get the settings.apk as well, i tried pushing both on my slide and launcher looks good, but settings crashes when i open the quick keys option. i will post back if i get it working(may even give a screenshot
i got as far as the tutorial looking wizard for quick keys but when trying to use the widget or going through settings it crashes(this might be due to the lack of keys mapped to those positions which can be looked into later) if you want pics check my twitter and i can upload more upon request

you now change your user agent string — the bit of info that tells a website what type of device you are running — to “froyo-n1”.

Enjoy guys!
Update: that link got me a version of Hero of Sparta and it runs smoothly however there is no sound coming out of the speakers at all (I obviously checked the volume rockers lol) The Media Volume is crossed out.
I had asked them for a Nexus One apk so that might be the reason, already put another request for a Galaxy S apk letting them know I have a Nexus S we will see what they say
Update 2: Their answer :
Hello!
I am sorry for the misunderstanding.
Unfortunately, your Android device Samsung Nexus S is not supported. Our development team is constantly working to bring new games to all platforms and we forward them all your suggestions. We do not currently have any specific information to share about release of games for your device, but be sure to follow our Twitter (twitter.com/gameloft) or like us on Facebook (facebook.com/gameloft) so that you'll be the first to know when this changes. All our new game announcements are available there in real time, so stay tuned!
If your device is not supported, please do not try downloading a game which is not for your specific phone model. Each game is built for one particular device. If your phone is not listed, it's no use trying to get another game build. It will not work and it is not meant to work.
Please get back to me if you have any other questions.
Best wishes,

This is a security update that was pushed out on 11/3/11. http://www.htc.com/us/support/shift-sprint/downloads/
What exactly is the problem when trying to get temp root? Hopefully it's a user error (no offense) and the hole hasn't been patched.

Can anyone tell me what changes are made by 2.76.651.6? I have an unrooted EVO Shift and want to know what all this does. I'd love to root it, but it seems like a major process and other than not being able to wifi tether, I really don't NEED root.

Mute bug isn't part of the 911 issue (except maybe that fixing E911 coulda brought the mute bug back). The E911 issue was fixed back in January.

this mod needs root access and a build.prop editor.
after you have these things open the editor and navigate to ro.build.version.release this is the android version label
here you can change it to whatever you want, like i don't know mabey android 4.2.1 haha
or anything else you want even names or words...
just thought id share this little mod with you guys
(please note that this does not actually change the version of the OS it just says it does here's a screen shot of my phone in the attachment)
