This link says that the phone device, HTC VILLE will have ANDROID 4.0 along with SENSE 4.0
"Boy Genius Report has received some information about a new HTC smartphone called the HTC Ville. It’s due out next April and it will feature Google Android 4.0 and HTC Sense 4.0 software"
Woopes i kept reading, its not out but it will be sooner or laterO_O
Forget about that. if it's not Quad-Core I ain't buying it.

hurts to say this but im agreed with you, HTC should moderate its launches because they are making a "new phone" avery one or two weeks. I put "new phone" between quotes because all of the phones htc launch are almost the same, just changing the name or some phisically things, why not better launch some few phones, keep their names with every mobile company HTC share their phones and make things easier, and take their time to launch a new, but improve and different phone, instead of launching a new but same specs phones every two weeks,
Better terminology for this would be announced than out
Well, even if Sense 4.0 is coming out, it will be exactly the same as with Sense 3.0 & Sense 3.5: developers will port it to DHD but will it work really good? No.
I had both 3.0 and 3.5 on mine but it drains battery even more than 2.2. So I guess I'm gonna wait for CM9 or something like that..

I have found little discernible difference between ARHD 5.2.6 which is Sense 2.1 and RCMix3D Runny 3.3 which is 3.5 - I did notice worse battery in the older Sense 3.0 ROMs such as Unity though.

4.0 has a great weather widget, but you can't scroll wallpapers, haven't noticed much difference between the two besides that!

Most differences the average person will not see as they are mainly under the hood changes. The scrolling wallpaper maybe one of the needed ram hog changes. One of the biggest complaints people had with sense is the amount of ram it takes. So how do you cut down the ram? You remove some stuff. I am looking forward to the next version as someone that used Sense before it was even called sense. It has always been the best over all UI.
must be under the hood, and hidden inside the plenum chamber
Great news for me!

I approve of this. testing out the BETA build by LorD ClockaN of ICS and its pretty good. Couple of bits here and there, but its BETA so im not complaining!

Hey everybody, before you start bashing about me using the search butten... I did, I was just unsuccessful. The thing is, I've used so many different types of roms and most of them work fine but always there seems to be a problem. What I'm trying to say is. Are there still recently updated Sense roms witch are not Sense 3.0 because I hate unstable roms, I've had so much trouble before. I'm looking for a as fast as possible rom with Sense 2.1 and one that keeps my phone alive longer than 5 hours. Right now I can't even find Sense 2.1 roms without all the flashy sense 3.0 skins and stuff. I did find some old stuff but like I was saying, I don't really like unstable stuff since my phone is killing me with the battery drain.
Does anyone have any suggestions for a recent sense 2.1 rom witch is fast, stable and good for the battery.
Thanks

Sense 3.0 is wayyy too buggy on the HD2 and in reality little or no progress has been made over the last few months as the issues have not really been resolved so im at a loss as to why someone would want to flash it on their phone, give me a solid stable build anyday (like Hyperdroid CM7) i don't miss sense in the slightest and i really cant see why people are so preoccupied with it!

Hyperdroid and Typhoon are both EXCELLENT roms. I am running Hyperdroid right now. Battery drain is minimal.
It seems like the majority of the HD2 ROMs are Sense ROMs. Are there any good non-Sense ROMs, even stock Android ROMs for the HD2, or does everything pretty much include Sense?
Nope, Typhoon and Hyperdroid are great and faster, as stated in the post above yours...
you should try the boyppc shiftpda i have been using his Roms from the begining and never had any problems they just work good battery life but you need to manage it well but its a shame he has stoped usig the DAF install for his latest Roms but give them a go see how you like them

why don't you try the SuperRam froyo 1.5? it's veeeryy stable.; but the only thing i don't like, is that there is no stock battery % for the battery.. and i don't want to use widgets as they drain your battery!
i think that the only sense gingerbread rom that will be ok for hd2 will the one that finally htc is going to release for htc desire and i hope that someone of our devs will port it.personally after testing of allmost all sense roms i see that the only one that works with the smallest lags is the roms that are based in desire`s sense like first nand rom by dft or the one from bauner.the other sense roms were made for mobiles with better hardware from hd2 like better cpu and more ram and i think it is very difficult to fit in hd2.

You are very wrong. There has been ALLOT of progress over last few months as far as 2.1+3.0 or just 3.0.
Check out the rom in my sig, its very stable and fast, Infact its much more stable and faster then the standard DHD sense roms that have allot of lag and the need to reboot various times and have to wait till system settles etc. The one in my sig has no lag and works virtually straight away.
The only bugs really are camcorder (which is nearly fixed + you can use non-HTC in mean time) and minor gfx bugs that are hardly noticeable and the added features well make up for it.

If you want a AOSP stock rom then you should get the NexusHD2 roms, either froyo or gingerbread, They are very fast, very stable and as close to stock as you will get.

Sadly, i have to agree with this.. I dont see a point in releasing half finished ROMS and then updates that don't really fix things...
Sense (non 3) roms are less and less available, but thankfully we have guys like tytung and charansing havibg roms ou there that work for 100%
Dont get me wrong, i respect and appreciate the efforts, but i dont see the use of 20 releases where all of them have the same flaws and nobody can fix that until we have the desire source for GB.

What you and all the other newbies here don't seem to understand or grasp is that this site is called xda-developers and this forum is for developments. Things dont always just "work" they develop. What doesn't work now will work later, that's just how it is. Even the most stable roms like NexusHD2 etc didnt work properly in beginning.
The point of these releases that have bugs is so that people can test, leave feedback etc and so dev can work on developing the build.
If you dont enjoy trying new builds, tweaking roms or generally playing with them you can stick to NexusHD2 but for the people like myself who do enjoy the whole process we have a choice.
Rate from 1-10 in terms of:

Stabability:
Any rom developed by aamikam
Looks:10(sense is so pretty)

Currently my favorite ROM is MIUI. It's so much different than any other ROM and there's a ton of customization.
Looks: easy 10
Speed: not the fastest ROM but quick. I'll give it an 8
Battery life: easy 10. I get the better battery life than any other ROM
Stability: 8 - depends on the build but all in all pretty stable.

man its all really personal opinion but ill give it my best review seeing as how ive used all of the ones that are available for the shift "i think"
AOSP ROMS: CM7 (Cyanogenmod 7) and Shift Deck
AOSP DEFINITION:Stock Pure Google Android. doesnt get much simpler than that.
Shift Deck: This is about as AOSP as it gets its pure stock android (think of a nexus S) Shift Deck like most AOSP roms gives great battery life. I find making it a little over a day not very hard with quite some usuage. The speed is very slick too.
My rating
Looks:7 (an opinated question)
Speed:10
Battery Life:9
Stability: 10
Features: 6
CM7: This is AOSP with a lot of different features inside of it that are hard to go through all of them. but basically if you like the look of AOSP but want more customization options and features CM7 is a great way to go
My Rating
Looks: 7
Speed 10
Battery Life:9
Stability: 8.5(only because its still in nightly builds and there are a few problems)
Features:8 (more than stock AOSP and some good ones at that)
Evervolv: Think of Shift Deck with a different stock launcher. Its codenamed Creo and has a couple different features. for that purpose to me it recieves the same score as Shift Deck
SENSE ROMS
Sense in general is what the shift comes stock with. An overlay on android made by HTC to bring further customization for the purpose of length i will not include Stock Sense 2.1
Sense 3.0 Kingdom Port: This is a full Sense 3.0 port for the evo shift its elegant and sexy and jam packed with customization. Now HTC did state Sense 3.0 would only work on NEWER devices and it does show in the port. on a stock kernel it does get really laggy with memory issues.
MY rating
Looks:9.5( i dont give looks a 10 because it sort of opiniated)
Speed:5 (it works but to me unusable)
Battery Life:7 (the port defeinently takes a toll on the battery
Features: 10
Stability: 4
MikShift-G Sense 2.1+3.0: This is based off Sense 2.1 with 3.0 features added into it. Personally this is one of my favorites. Its got a great mix of 3.0 features so you dont feel left behind and out of date and with aamikams optimizing it runs beautifully. I dont notice lag per say but there are a couple times things take just a tad bit longer to load. Added Sense 3.0 Features Include -Lockscreen,Weather,Messaging, Task Manager, and probably a couple others im forgetting
Looks:9.1 (lol)
Speed.9.5
Battery Life:9 (As good or sometimes better than AOSP)
Features:9
Stability: 9.9 (even the beta was fantastic only one KB light problem that is still in the official build)
SupremeSense 2.1+3.0. So you like the sound of Mikshift-G but you miss that 3D rosie and 3D widgets from Sense 3.0? Well here you go. SupremeSense is based off Mikshift-G but with a couple nice features Including 3D Sense 3.0 Launcher, and Darktremmors A2SD. This is a little bit more memory heavy so there is some lag but definently still usable
Looks:9.4
Speed:8.5
Battery Life:9 (same as Mikshift-G)
Features: 9.2
Stability:9
MIUI ROMS
We have a few miui ports and there basically the same just newer versions so im just going to review miui in general
MIUI (I think its said like "MY-U-I") is very umm "different" or in alot of ways its not different. if you have ever used or seen an iphone then you have a sense (no pun intended) of what the MIUI launcher is like. Its based of of AOSP but it doesnt look like it. It has an iOS type feel to it. It has no app drawer all your icons are on the homescreens and you scroll left and right through them. you have the ability to make folders like in iOS which seems to be an essential part in MIUI. You have a lockscreen sort of like Sense 1.0-2.1.
Its got a different way of handling text messages. and menu systems and the whole UI of the phone has its own unique feel that you have to try out to completley understand. MIUI currently does not support 4G so if you use it your SOL. but it is definently worth checking out
It does run across MMS issues sometimes too. Miui has its own personal theme manager that will theme anything from sounds to design asthetics to bootanimations, and lockscreens including options for sense 3.0 type lockscreens. its a very complete theming process. Think of it as HTC Hub on Steroids.
My Rating:
Look:8.9(once again opiniated question)
Speed:9 (generally very slick)
Battery Life:9 (AOSP like Battery Life)
Stability: 7.5 (this is miui's lowest point)
Features. 9 (its very unique in features)

Its an outstanding ROM. but if you just dont like the design asthetics of sense then no you wont like it.
but all the problems people say they have with sense is eliminated in the rom
I am running Supreme Sense which is based of Mikshift-G (as i said in the review lol) and at 72% battery life i am going 8 hours and 8 min (reading it off my phone as i type) with wifi going the whole time, gps, lots of texts a few voice calls and LOTS of web browsing.
The lag people expierence with sense is compltley gone it runs great and smooth just as fast as AOSP. Some apps may take half a second more to load tho
and you gotta love the sense 3 lockscreen haha
Thanks notsointeresting, I just got this phone and have been wondering what way I wanted to go on it in terms of what rom to put on it. I am coming from a Samsung Transform so almost any rom is going to run faster and smoother then the best rom and kernal package could give me on the transform. Thinking of trying Supreme Sense but would like to find a video of it before going through the trouble of downloading it and setting it up.

Believe me I would love to haha. But unless your on an AOSP rom your SOL (sadly out of luck haha) because HTC has not provided the source code for the evo shift yet so developers can not make kernels. It's a serious GPL violation an people (including me) have been sending tweets and posting on twitters face book wall saying something like ( @HTC We still need you to release the source code for the EVO Shift 4G #GPL #Android) they will have to release it soon though and I'm thinking when that time comes I might make a dedicated thread for kernel and roms and put my reviews and information on them and let people leave reviews or what not. But that would depend on if people where interested.
Also check out my EpicBlue theme for Milshift-G it finally supports 1.4

Yeah, i hear ya on that... Without 4G I wouldn't have a cell phone... Where I live my 4G is sometimes worse than 3G speeds... My 3G is usually at 1x speeds and my talk varies... For all that I've tried Evervolv and it messed up my phone. Hated it. I currently use the Cyanogen Nightlies. They for me offer the best of everything. Speed, customization, battery life... With the theme chooser they can look basically how ever you want. With beautiful widgets you can get some sense like widgets and others. Many launcher options. I use ADW and its a perfect blend of stability and customization. I've heard very good things about Shift deck. In my opinion sense is super slow compared to AOSP. People have said that the Mikshift G runs like AOSP. But to me, i can see the difference. So I'm gonna vote for plain and simple cyanogen

Hello everyone, I'm new in this forum. Actually I use a RCMIX 3D (sense 3.5) ROM which is quite satisfactory in terms of battery consumption.
However, considering the fact that I do not go behind the latest developments in graphics, velocity etc, I looking for a new ROM that, of all, offers exceptional durability of the battery during daily use (data, internet, push email, sync a few). I do not know about what really orient me ... I accept all the advice possible, regardless of whether it is "sense" or not. Thanks
i personally Think the rcmix sense 3.5 rom is one of the best out there right now..if you are not satisfied try android revolution, thats sense 3.0 though

Is better for battery consumption?
I've read about HydrOG3n...
my dhd lasted about 2.5 Days on last charge, and that is pretty Amazing in my mind (with rcmix runny rom) but android revolution is a Little bit better on that Point i think..no superultrabig difference, but you should get a coupple of hours extra i think.
btw: i am coming from revolution to rcmix and the thing that made me stay on this one is the sense 3.5 (ofcourse) and the awesome rcmix setting menu that lets you change pretty much whatever you like, a bit like wannabe cyanogenmod =) really cool i think
imo, LM kernel roms (CM7 and miui based ones such as hydrogen) have excellent battery life. Stock CM7 also has OK battery life.
Radios should also affect the battery life

How long does your battery with the full use of your rom?
cubases. Here are some screenshots of a few ROMs to help you see some visual differences.
And here is the up-to-date list of Desire HD ROMs here at XDA. That way you can click on each one to visit the thread and see any specs or info for yourself.
Personally - I use MIUI Freshly Squeezed at the moment as I really love the complete UI change. (Having said that I don't like the latest theme so much with the latest release but I change it back to the original or different theme at the touch of a button.) MIUI feels like a completely different device. That said - I try many ROMs and enjoy most of them unless I'm put off by the visuals/colors etc.

I think you go to wrong direction. I don't think there's a significant difference between the ROMs according to power consumption. Now I am not with CoreDroid 8.1 . I think it's with 2.3.4 kernel (don't think, that if was with 2.3.5 it will be 100% better) .
With full use every ROM will give you max 1 day. With a moderate use - 2 days with no problems with CoreDroid/RCMix/ARHD roms. The main consumption is from the lcd (ROM independant).
Some advices - switch off every antenna you don't use - BT/Wi-Fi/mobile network/3G . Especially switch off mobile network and set everything to manual update. 3G network also consumes a lot of energy. For calls 2G is fair enough.
Well if you need network access any time a day and automatic update - nothing you can do. You will charge the phone every day.
And other advice - charge the phone with USB cable (on a PC) at any time. Don't wait the battery to fall. Just watch to keep the memory in 20-80% (bellow 20 and above 80 it will use more battery recharge cycles).

Could you suggest me any apps that, automatically, switch on-off beetwen 2g and 3g?
ArHD....but to be fair anything we say is irrelevant, ive flashed numerous Roms including runny, but kept going back to ArHD.
Try them all,
Sense 3.5 I'm not a fan of,but as I said we like what we like.

I get a day and a half from arhd

I've flashed loads of Roms and I think miui has by far the best battery life. I use my phone ALOT and I'm getting through a whole day with one charge.
With most sense Rom's I was only getting through work. 7am - 5pm. I've read a few times miui freshly squeeze is better but haven't tried it yet. I'm happy with what I've got at the moment.

It's my standard also!!!
But the thing that annoys me is to use the phone very much limiting the use of fear of not getting even a night!
What are the pros and cons of MIUI?

I'm using juicedefender ultimate with aosp support, you can configure a lot of option of the network usage!
On MIUI rom, I've used it a lot, great rom, nice UI(iPhone app management style with Samsung style screen customization) , a lot of customizable setting, nice theme and useful features and good battery life, I always suggest to try it!
Now I'm testing DeSenseNG based on official sense 3 for DHD (love htc app) and I think is very good room, smooth and with a little UV a really good battery!
Sorry for bad english :-(

Well guys i was thinking about it. Also thinking about other sense devices that may come with ICS and thinking about if it can run with a sense 3.5 on it or sense 4.0 or something. So I was thinking that eventually our devices cant be upped to the higher sense versions eventually. So I was wondering about the life of AOSP. When will our devices stop being able to run straight android?
When I say run I refer to the ability to be usable. None of this constant reboots or all to common issues, radio network, wifi drops, reboots etc.
I predict a year until our devices can not fully support the next sense version if 3.5 can be run reliably. I give straight Android till the next update. I am still unsure of how ICS will run on our devices very well but I do think it will be and will have the people from major AOSP makers/flavor teams out there getting it to work.
This update brings duel core in a year it will be quad core etc. and follow suit.
What are you peoples ideas? How long can our device stay breathing?
I have none of those problems with aosp?
Sense already should not be run on our phones because of the hog it is. I don't think Google will be outing all these phones next year.
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
That is why I think AOSP will be the only way to go further.
Our Devices Running sense are pretty much maxed out if we ever get 3.5 to run correctly.
I've been running cm7 nightlies exclusively for almost a year
Now and i think i only had rebooted with a really old nightly and the GPS issue that's now fixes with a driver flash. I don't know what could cause the issues you have. He'll I TRY to break my phone to make sure it'll run all the time. Still haven't really been able to do much more than slow it down massively for a few minutes.
I love how sense 3.0 looks but not how piggishly fat it is

I would run sense 24/7 if it had features I need
Deck's + SZ + SuperCharger script + ViperMod script.
Sense is great I love it how it feels the keyboard the widgets etc. It's just I realize our hardware is well outdated now. I think ics will run fine but a port of a ics sense ROM might be a bit much. If.It's got Sie 3.5 it might run but sense 4.0 won't run great i can just tell.
I tried aosp way back when but like sense ink if ics brags a lot of functionality and a reasons o glad aosp I might do that but till then sense it is.

Not sure what others are doing for the EVO but as soon as ics hits ill be working on it for the EVO. Remember salvagemod was one of the first gb Rome for the EVO. We will be bringing android updates to the EVO for as long as we can. Shot even the g1 and mytouch run gb. I'm sure the EVO will keep up for a while. We hope.

I hope ICS will support my EVO. I hope as many phones as possible get ICS love, especially considering hwa which should theoretically improve the performance of every phone it runs on.

I believe our phones can run the future updates for android its the sense part that I think will limit our ability to keep progressing with sense. And I appreciate the developers who constantly work on our devices and do donate to them.
All things aside Android doesn't take many system resources but sense can be a pain to get to work correctly if our devices can handle sense 4.0....
Maybe a hyrbid but my theory is sense 4.0 + 3.5 hybrid is the end of sense for us. maybe a update beyond ICS as well. maybe a 2.4-2.5

I agree. Sense has some great widgets and integration into parts of the system like the gallery app with Facebook and flickr. I have run AOSP ROMs, some for quite a while (and I'm a bit of a flashahaulic) they run super smooth and they are quite stable now as well, but I always try different sense ROMs when I see then posted so I can try to get the best of both worlds.
Currently I'm running Salvage-Mod-Sense which is a 2.1 port from Barnacles. It's the best I've found for sense ROMs that includes some minor features from Sense 3.x (ie. lock screen, camera app) but for the most part is stock sense 2.1 which runs beautifully on my phone. This with the chop suey SBC kernel gives me great battery life and all the best of sense. So much faster than Synergy or Kingdom because it leaves out all the Sense 3.x stuff.
All this rambling on my part comes to this, I agree that ICS will be awesome on our phones, but I doubt a sense based version will be feasible. Sense 3.x already runs terrible on our devices (at least in my experience, but maybe I'm just a performance whore, lol).
The new Sense 3.5 ROMs are exciting and running smoothly as well. I believe if there is a way to remove all the bloat and strip the ROMs down these devices can go for another 2yrs with decent performance.

That's my feeling at this moment. Especially as devs get ICS releases to tweak.
No offence intended by the title of this thread, but I've noticed that all of the latest rom releases are all pimpin out sense 3.
To be honest, I find the lack of current development on sense 2 roms disappointing. Im currently using the last version of Leedroid 3.3.3 and occasionally switch to ARHD 5.2.6 as these were the last x2 sense roms which I enjoy.
I realise that sense 3 is the latest from HTC but in my opinion its bloated and sluggish with annoying 3d scrolling and a lack of scrollable wallpaper.
So my question is this... why the mass exodus to sense 3? Does anyone else feel the same as me?
Honestly, sense is pretty useless for me. Laggy, a resources hog and huge performance loss.
CM7 rules.
I also find this very disturbing/slightly annoying. However since I'm not a dev I'm still grateful for the wide variety of ROMs available.
That being said I found the stock Sense ROM to be awesomely quick but in my "the grass is greener on the other side moment" I removed it and put on some others... I'm now on CM7 and waiting for ICS AOSP for the DHD.
I guess it's just because everyone tends to build on the newest base available. Once some Gingerbread RUUs leaked everyone started building with them, and it wasn't long before the remaining Froyo builds stopped being actively updated. Same thing has happened now with Sense 3 - test builds have leaked and people have moved on, and if/when an official update comes out you'll struggle to find any actively maintained ROMs using earlier versions. The same thing will happen with Sense 3.5, then Ice Cream Sandwich, then who knows.
You can't fight progress.
Well...
At first I thought the sense 3 ROMs were pretty laggy in rosie, but with the super smooth and liquid smooth patches, and all the work done by others, I feel that they're now as smooth as they were always meant to be =)
Apart from that, if you want super silky smooth over nice transparent looks and still be very functional, I'd suggest MIUI with a nice theme. I went to the SCI MIUI ROM a while back and it's amazing, although for a change now and then I do go back to a sense ROM for a week or so and I'd recommend looking at the liquid patch.
Sense for nice looks, along with whatever patches our amazing devs come up with for speed and functionality.
MIUI with custom launcher for a fantastic compromise between AOSP speed and looks, along with that fantastic pull down and battery (and did I mention the speed?) (Also, I think I might be bias towards this)
Cyanogenmod for pure speed and battery
But anyways, that wasn't the point =/
Sense 3 with the patches is as smooth as sense 2 was, and most things like the 3d and bloated-ness can be got rid of or are the same as sense 2 =) Plus you can activate the scrollable wallpaper in some of them
Edit: Sorry that is a rant and a half.

No one asked you to come to XDA. If you don't like what's on offer, develop your own. The Dev's develop what they want, they just happen to share it with everyone else.

Perhaps not, If you like LeeDroid 3.3.3 & ARHD 5.2.6, stick with them.
Also I could see a few people being unhappy labelled as "Sheep", just because they want the latest & most current versions.

The current sense 3/3.5 ROMs are indeed super smooth. I would get bored in a day every time I flashed a new Sense ROM, but what brought me back to Sense is the new RCMix3d Runny v3.2. Once you use Sense 3.5, its difficult to go back to even Sense 3, so I'd been waiting for this to stabilize a bit. And I must say, the RC team has made this ROM buttery smooth. Its perfect so far. Falling in love with Sense again.

Why dont you give Runny a try, you might understand why most devs are moving forward and trying to make Sense 3.5 work optimally on our phones.

The main reason alot of developers are going with the new sense is that they know all future updates will include it and the old coding for the older sense will no longer work when making and configuring roms.
I like sense 3 granted the lock screens ****,i flashed the ol pull down lock to my arhd rom
Sense 3 is good but my opinion. Sense 3.5 is the ****e you need to watch out for, hopefully htc will drop it and move to 4.0

ARHD 5.2.6 is my all-time favourite ROM. It's stable, smooth, fast and has amazing battery life not to mention it works with PureBlackEspresso skin (was never updated for Sense 3.0).
However, seeing all the new bells and whistles which are included in Sense 3.5 I tried Runny v1.5 when that was the latest release. Whilst I was impressed with how it looked and the cool extras like RCTweaks and Beats Audio (I've since decided SRS is better), it just didn't impress me with performance or battery life so I went back to ARHD 5.2.6.
Anyway, last night I decided to give Runny another try and flashed v3.3. All I can say is WOW! What a difference now... it's actually runs as nice as it looks. So fast and smooth, and appears to be very stable too. It's too early to comment on battery life but so far it seems acceptable.
My only gripe with Sense 3.5 is that you loose scrolling wallpaper in favour of the 3D Rosie. I do prefer scrolling wallpaper, but hey... you can't have everything and it's a small price to pay for all the other cool stuff you gain.
I still have ARHD 5.2.6 as my main Nandroid though... it will be a cold day in hell before I get rid of that!
From my last comment...i was talking ****e,now running runny 3.3 honey sense hd on board and nexus boot with customized uot kitchen bits. Uv scripted. Sweet
