I was thinking it would be helpful for us newbies to have a thread where you geniuses share with us your setup and battery life. That way we dont have to keep asking. I have tried everything but no luck.
Please include kernel, rom, and setcpu profiles and advanced settings thanks.

bro this is the best advice in my opinion. with this setup you get the most functionality out of an evo rom with the least setup required
Rom-calkulins evio 2 rom. get the most current one same one im running
kernel- a heavily customized ziggy rom is built in. leave it.. its amazing
setcpu- dont use it. dont install it. calk has a battery script built in and it works like a charm. getting 30 plus hours of battery
i personally flashed the extra 150mv undervolt mod. my phone can handle it
Myn rls5 amd netarchy 4.2.1 cfs more aggressive sbc. Just got 15 hours unplugged and 4 hours awake time...good enough for me.
Thanks guys on caulks its a fantastic rom my phone is dying quick. My best luck was ou miui so far. Still having trying different combos out
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Sure. I'll play along. Since I make my own roms and stuff, I can't exactly offer the rom to use. However...
Kernel: Netarchy 4.3.1 CFS HAVS SBC | Get it Here.
Rom: Eternal Prophecy v29 (My own. Private.)
CPU Scaling: Not using SetCPU. I use a modified version of Ziggy's Kernel Tweaks.
1. Screen On: Max-> 1190 / Min-> 245 / Governor: Smartass
2. Screen Off: Max-> 576 / Min -> 245 / Governor: Smartass
I'm at 20 hours unplugged with 17% battery remaining after moderate usage today.
Are you using an extended battery to get that battery life? If not, I want your rom thanks man

If you dont mind testinh id recommend grankin's kernel..i think he has one for iced roms
With his kernel you can oc up to 1.7, although id think thats quite unnecessary
I have my profile set for 1350 max, 245 min (on demand), screen of: max 345, min 245 (so it saves battery life), below 50%: 1017 max and 245 min...
Let me know how that works for you

I want to try what others have found to be a good combo.
As of about a week ago, I'm on CM7 nightlies and SavagedZen 2.2.1-BFS. I'm also using the DM A2SD 2.7.5.3-b4. So far so good.
Been running MikG Sense 2.1 + 3.0 v2.45 with Lithid's Aggresive Freedom kernel v0.8. Running great for me so far...
CM7 7.1 RC1, Tiamat 4.0.5 non SBC. Great battery life, super stable, performance when needed.
Synergy RLS1 - More-Freedom v0.8 kernel. Great battery life and super stable. Coming from running AOSP for 5mo.

deck's latest with salvage-zen bfs kernel. battery loves me very long time.
cm7 with "bloat" removed + savaged zen bfs + sd speed booster script + juwe ram boost script = very very fast evo with very fast sd response
cm7 > always latest nightly.
savzen 221 CFS
vipermod undervolting script
supercharger v6 update8 script
best config ever.
Calkulin's EViO 3 v1.0 + Golden Monkey + V6 SuperCharger script = One sexy stable fast EVO.
After finally getting root this weekend i been trying out different ROMS and Kernels and thats what i have settled with.
Synergy RC2, and Golden Monkey 1.0
I should probably update both, but my phone has not had a single problem with this setup.
My Combo
OMGB 2.3.4 w/ Tiamat SBC 3.3.7 kernel
Been running above for last couple of weeks w/no issues. Have SetCPU O/Ced to 1152 w/ 128 min on Smartass governor. Awesome battery life w/ Seido 3500 batt.
Been tempted to try latest OMFGB nightlies, but hate to f with something that works so well.
I'm on decks 1.12 with the tiamat 3.3.7 sbc kernel. I'm using the v6 supercharger and vipermod, juice defender and an extended battery. Besides the fact that I have no more 720p video, which I did make use of pretty often, I don't think this phone could get any more responsive or longer lasting.
It's a great combo.

Tiamat 3.3.7 sbc
Lean, customizable, quick, and stable. The perfect combo for me.
Sense: synergy+freedom
AOSP: decks or salvagemod+savagedzen

Hey guys with all the quadrant scores being posted everywhere, I haven't seen a topic dedicated to these alone. So that's what this thread is for. Here are the rules:
Rule 1: when you post a quadrant please tell everyone what Rom/Kernel you are running so if anyone wishes to follow your steps they may do so.
Rule 2: Please merge your posts if your going to post one after another or simply edit your post and update it to maintain order.
That's it. Thanks guys and here is my quadrant. AOKP 40.1 devil .97 with v6 super charger and kak

Hey azuma how did you get your CPU so high? Also I need you to test something for me. Antutu tels me I'm pulling over 3200 in a quad. But quad pro tells me just over 2600. I'm unsure which to believe
Sent from my SCH-I500 using xda premium
I believe antutu runs more tests than quadrant, therefore showing a higher score, but I could be mistaken?
My phone IS fast and stable, but now I think I need to work on better battery!?

Dim your screen. Go to (I think development) and put a chexk in kill background processes and leave no programs running. I also use toolbox pro to freeze apps that continuously run and use the mobile web version of them.

Seems like you started this thread so we could show off each of our own tweaks and roms. I came here for a little advice too. That way I could see some big performance increases to my phone.
(first screen capture)
old rom: AOKP 40
old kernel: devil .79
old CPU governor: smartassv2
min-max frequency: 200-1400
(second screen capture)
Current rom: AOKP 40
Current kernel: devil .79
Current CPU governor: conservative
min-max frequency: 100-1400
I was curious I used the ROM setting built into the AOKP rom to set the cpu frequency, but should i use devil kernel config or manager or nstools. or is that just for live OC? My cpu frequency is set at boot. My quadrant scores are pretty low. Any tips for a noob?

Yeak I got a couple for ya.
Go to settings, Developer settings, then put a check mark in Force GPU Rendering Make sure the Max CPU is 1400 low is 100 Governer I have set to conservative, ZRam is set for 100mb. Try those settings and reboot before you test again

Ok I believe the Force GPU rendering definitely made the biggest difference. My 2d and 3d scores jumped up. I updated my post. For some reason in the ROM controls it took a couple tries for the new cpu and governor settings to stick after reboot.

MunkyDrunky that still seems a little low considering what everyone else is pulling. Try this as well. And I'll include the files from my phone when I get to my computer with instructions.
Get if not already had toolbox
And go to performance and SD card boost. Change the value to 2480 (I think it is. It will give you a preferred high set)
Go to app manager and freeze any constantly running services that you would normally use such as yahoo mail Facebook etc. And use the mobile web versions to help save ram. I'll include v6, 3G, and a few other files you'll need as well.
After the SD boost and app freeze reboot phone into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik. Then reboot and try your test again.

Ok Ive used Rom toolbox when I was using the Gummy rom. Would I still use devil kernel config or manager for the cpu and ram free value changes? How do I make sure the changes will always stick, ive had trouble with that after reboot.

I should say my running apps are usually not many. Right now its Rom Control, Android keyboard, Maps, Nova Launcher, and Rom Toolbox, and Superuser. I test my gps a lot with Maps. Otherwise I dont have a lot running since this isnt my daily use phone. I want it to be again but want to get it flying first.
Thank you for the good advice and help. Trying SD boost now...will try v6 and 3g speed boost later
I use v6 supercharger, sd boost, and app quarantine while at 1300 MHz and I still only get around 1500...I feel like that's pretty low for AOKP MS6 with devil right?

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!
