I've just tried fitting the Flip Cover and it looks very good. It doesn't add any extra bulk so it can still fit in pockets as well as before. I normally prefer my phones naked but in this case (excuse the pun) I think I'll use the Flip Cover.

There is no clip to keep it closed but it sits nicely flat against the screen with no tendency to open unless you prise it open. It has a nice quality feel and compliments the phone perfectly. You can put the phone down on any surface without fear of scratching the phone.

Unfortunately they were only offering the free flip cover on the 3rd, during the launch party.
you can use the screen cover bending backwards to leave standing (in landscape) on a surface and to see videos, etc? No slips or fall accidentally?
Thanks.

i think you could do that . i tried but does not seem to hold it tight and it might slip and fall off. ( maybe we need a mini smart cover like the ipad2 one hehehe )
Now I have used the Note with it's Flip Cover for a few days both at home and away I can appreciate it much more. It adds little extra bulk, leaves good access to the phone and provides protection. Also, the cover can be bent back fully so that it does't interfere with holding and operating the phone. It's a really good design that will encourage it's use even from those who normally use their phone naked. (the phone that is, not the person ).
Hey there people! I am a galaxy note owner outside the UK and I have been very nervous to find a flip cover case here in Greece without any luck. As i have been searching clove and carphone none of them delivers because they have no products to do so. When did you purchase them??? Any updated news on when do they become available again??? I want to take it outside my house safely yet i am afraid...

Damn, I really really want to buy one of these flip covers but there's practically no place online that has one for sale (none at amazon, ebay, handtec, clove etc). Carphone warehouse and clove technology are only distributing theirs with each purchase of a GNote handset. They do not have any spares to sell and according to their representatives the flip covers are due to come in stock around December! Can anyone recommend any online stores that may stock them?
can we get some pics of the flip cover & note?

I have a question for you: Can you bend it back so that the cover rests against the back of the phone? I mean for when you're making phone calls so the cover wont be "flapping around".

hey there everyone, I've already went through two cases in my quest to look for the perfect case. and guess what, I ended up settling with a $10 carbon fiber pattern plastic case. so now I have to get rid of my leather case. it's like this: http://www.amazon.com/Tilt-Designio...sr_5?ie=UTF8&s=wireless&qid=1207201506&sr=8-5 but says "ibo" instead of "boxwave" on the back. I've only used it for a couple days, and decided to not use it anymore because it won't fit in my pants!!! I'll sell it for $18 with free shipping to the continental US... paypal only please

it's not really carbon fiber... just plastic with the pattern printed on it. it's a standard plastic case. it works pretty well so far. i haven't dropped it so i've yet to see it offer protection. very snug fit!

Unboxed my Xoom today. I can't say I don't like it, but there is one thing that really pissed me off. I paid $800 for it, and I knew very well that the price will soon drop but I still bought it. I thought I would be treated with great surprises. But the moment I opened the box, I found that there's NOTHING wrapping my Xoom. Yes, there's a plastic sheet protecting the screen, but it's covered with fingerprints (and dusts.) I am not even asking for a fancy velvet bag. Just put that damn thing inside a plastic bag, please. It costs Motorola, may be 2 cents?
Oh, and the box's cover wasn't even taped (and it's very loose.) Motorola has a lot to learn when it comes to packaging.
Anyway, this tablet is still by far the best tablet experience one would get for the Android platform.
Agreed.
Fancy light table BTW.
Mine was practically hanging out of the box when I got it.

I was thinking the same
Motorola should've taken down notes from Apple. Apple does pay a great deal of attention to packaging. I love how Apple packages products.
I agree. The day the Xoom launched, I was the first to come in without pre-sale receipt along with another dude who has already preordered online with his receipt, I was exciting but until I saw the Xoom... my face actually dropped when I saw a Verizon representative (inside Best Buy) bringing the Xoom out and it wasn't sealed. I like opening sealed things. What the heck.
I'm with ya.
When I bought my $30,000 car, it didn't have a cover either, pissed me off.
(sorry, couldn't help it, a few goodies in the box always adds to the experience)
I agree with the not taping the box closed, but I take it you've never bought an apple product? They are continually praised for thier packaging which is almost exactly like the Xoom was packaged.
I'm fine with it as the entire thing was wrapped in plastic already if you didn't notice.
Sounds a bit dodgey to me,usually most new mobile phones and tablets have a seal on the box,and on the seal are the words DO NOT ACCEPT IF SEAL IS BROKEN. How do you know someone's not been having a quick play with it and then done a factory reset.

Sounds like you got someone's sloppy seconds. Either that or the model that the entire sales force for that store was trained on.

Man the HTC Evo package was ****ty. Minimalist, yes, but it looked like a tuppaware box (however you spell it).
I was surprised the Xoom boxes weren't even taped either. And since they had to look at the number on the back of the Xoom Best Buy totally killed the unboxing experience for me.
My gf thought I was a total nerd for thinking about doing an unboxing video, but after the unboxing cherry was popped, there was a TINY bit less of excitement.

I've asked around, from what I can tell, this is only partially true. What I know so far is that the Xoom from Costco were all wrapped in plastic (the whole box with Motorola's sticker on the plastic wrap), but those from Best Buy were not. I also checked with someone who work in Best Buy and he told me that they didn't take the wrap out. The Xoom arrived unwrapped.

I know someone who bought one from a BestBuy and there's a picture of a sales clerk in the gallery when he logged into his Xoom.
Consider how "beta-like" Honeycomb is still. I wonder all these unsealed packaging + fingerprints-all-over are results of some last minute firmware upgrade?
Seeing how the Xoom was launched during CES with hardware ready, but only had video of the UI looping without the real software. I believe most Xoom that are currently selling were manufactured around that time. Just sat there waiting for Google to provide the latest firmwares...
So I just received my silicone case for my a500. I actually like it way more then the first case which was the official acer made case. It doesn't have the stand capabilities as most others but its simple easy to get on and off and light. It also provides access to all ports but the sd card port. Bought it on amazon.com. through a dealer called sfplanet.com. I don't believe they have it on their main site but its on amazon for 5.99. Check it out if your looking for one.

I bought one. It's very cheap right now. It does fit pretty loosley and the material is thin. I don't think it'll provide much protection. I wish more people made silicone cases for the a500 because the leather folio type cases are not my type of thing and I don't want to carry around a bag.
I bought this cover myself. Fits great. The TPU material is awesome. I have a TPU case just like this for Nexus S. One time I went to the gas station and I was talking to someone and left my phone on the hood of my gar. I drove 2 miles to work got into the office and realized OMG I left the phone on my hood. I ran to my car and lo and behold, It was in the exact same place I left it on the hood. That material is super sticky and a phone saver
Hopefully this one works out for me. I hope to get it in the next few days.

I wanted clear, but couldn't find a US seller. Now that I've said that, someone else will probably post a link.
Got the new case on Saturday. Fits great. Transluscent, so the Acer logo is seen through it. Cutouts in all the right spots, except the SD card cover of course. Good grip. Great fit around the bezel, doesn't look "stretched" like a couple others I've seen.

I just received my beautiful white N7100 and I purchased through Amazon Prime with Bluetekusa as the seller and I noticed that the box has NO seals on it like I have seen on almost every single unboxing and there was a fingerprint on the screen underneath the screen protector which is why I know that it has been opened... I did receive a US adapter inside the box but I think that they should be sealed and supply that as an external addition IMO... I am just really cautious when it comes to spending $700 on a phone that I have no idea where it came from and it has been opened...But, I am going to keep it and make sure it works correctly because I have been saving up for quite awhile and don't just wanna turn around and ship it right back.. Also, what kind of warranties are offered in the US for a phone like this (if any) cause I would like to be protected from at least mechanical failures... Thanks for any info or suggestions in advance!!

hi. this is my first time posting on xda. i bought 2 galaxy note 2 from gray market(ghills) for me and for my sister. i checked the seals before opening the box. everything is fine and i bought the 2 note after checking it. when i got home i checked everything again and i see that my note 2 is already rooted. it has an app called supersu and i check the custom binary download and it says yes and the system status is also custom instead of official. i checked the other note but it is fine. i texted the owner of the shop where i bought the note and he told me that it is impossible for them to fake the seal of the box. he's also my 'suki' so i am confident in dealing with him. do you think they can fake the seal of the box and gave me a second hand unit? the unit is good as bnew in appearance. it has no dent or hairline scratches. the plastic in the back and in the front where also there when we open the box. even the charger, battery and the headset where still in the plastic just like the other note that i bought and everything is clean.

Ya I am probably over reacting but I am going to start testing it out in about an hour after the battery is fully charged and then I will know for sure if it's a keeper or not... I just have NEVER seen a box like mine on ANY unboxing video with no seals... Usually they have 3 seals... I purchased mine through Amazon Prime so I will have no problems returning it and getting a full refund if necessary... If I root this and install a custom recovery and rom can I get it back to factory state if I find it has problems within the first 30 days?? Cause that's what I had planned anyways and I did call Squaretrade and they said that they could not provide a warranty for my item... Kinda sucks! Any other options guys? Thanks!

Many times imported (read: grey market) phones are opened so they can put a charging adapter in the box. I know my NIB Galaxy Nexus from the beginning of this year (from expansys) had been opened. It was to put a charging adapter in the box.
But the fingerprints are strange and suggest it wasn't NIB. eBay aggressively sides with the buyer, so I'm not surprised you won the case.

no there is no reason to open the box to put the charger in. you put it in the shipping box like a normal person. not open up someones brandnew phone. 100% feedback not there to scam anyone. first time i even opened up a case on anyone. i got my money back and he got his used scratched phone back. i'm glad your fond of 700 dollar used products because i am sure as hell not. and his newly feedback shows other buys saying openbox now. so i'm not the only one
even if they were opened to put a "charger" in state this in the auction number one. and number 2 dont try to reseal the box.
oh and btw hows this for resealing? didnt even try to do a good job lmao look at the double seal. i took this to send to paypal

if the phone looks new and it had the sticker on the front of the screen, who cares if the box was opened.

This is why you buy from a reputable seller (i.e. Newegg). As if "never-msrp" isn't shady enough. Lesson learned, right?

Nice case and it's free
@ OP: Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2133326 It has many positive feedbacks on "protect against damages," but i dont have courage as well as a case to test :silly:
Freaking awesome. Made my night.

I ride my bike with my Nexus 4 strapped on my arm and last week I fell off my bike and the phone flew off my hands because I was texting and riding my bike. My phone has the eBay kickstand rubber and plastic case (I like that it covers the USB and headphone ports) and XOskins rear and front screen protector and my phone survived the fall and tumbling on concrete, only minor tearing of an edge of the screen protector and very minor scuff on the corner of the case. Overall my phone feels pretty safe.

An amazon.com seller had the ballistic case for about $21usd + shipping (it shipped internationally for about $12 If I recall correctly, but now the price is up to about $27 + shipping) The seller that ships internationally was "One Stop Cell Shop". The price from this seller has been fluctuating between about $21 and $27 so you could wait to see if it decreases.
In the mean time.. I have just purchased the ballistic case from www.ioffer.com for about $27 + free international shipping. The seller has 21000 trades and 99% positive feedback. I know that ioffer sells fakes but also has some authentic products. I hope the case is authentic . It says shipping will take 5-10 days, so I will let you all know when (and if ) I receive it. I paid with paypal so I can make a dispute claim if it's not what I ordered.
So.. there are options out there just be careful when ordering and don't blame me if you order it from ioffer and it's fake... I will let you know in a week or 2 when I get it. :victory:
MyBat Tuff Hybrid Case
The MyBat Tuff Hybrid Case is great. I've mentioned this on other threads that I've dropped it from 4.5 feet right on the corner ... no damage.
I've dropped it multiple times since then. The colored version is $8.95 on ebay, the "Beer" version is $9.00. I currently have the black version, the beer version is on it's way.
colored versions
Beer Version
Thanks people,very helpful info
Beer Goggles!
I put my "Beer Version" of the MyBat case on my N4 and it looked great, but ...
When I made a phone call my screen when black and wouldn't come back. A quick check on google and I found that the proximity sensor was partially blocked by the new case. I expanded the opening with my box knife and all is well.
If i can't find the Ballistic case for a good price,i'm definitely getting this one, with the beer print
I got the Ballistic through the Cell guru for around $30 shipped to Australia.
Other than the Otterbox which isn't available for the Nexus, this is the only case I would trust to protect the phone from a drop.

i have orderer a mybat tuff in black and also the ballistic one... i will compare both and make a review between both of them... they seem to be the best decisions in case of protection...
Any two layered case with a lip will offer good drop protection.
I don't know what case offers the most protection, but the Diztronic model works amazing! Today I was walking out of a store with my hands full not paying attention and all of a sudden I see my phone, falling through the air on its way to the pavement. The distance was about 5ft high. It landed on the top corner (camera side) and the phone is completely intact. The case had a little scuff/dirt mark that just rubbed away. I can't tell you how happy I am to have put this on. I dropped my Nexus S once case-less and the hassle with getting it repaired and such, what a task. To think of all the trouble I saved myself, wow. So very grateful. Much respect to Diztronic.
2 drops so far above waist level with my ringke fusion and not 1 scratch
