[Q] about U8800H - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Just want to know what's the difference between U8800 and U8800H, or U8800+/PRO
I have found many about U8800 and U8800+/PRO, but few for U8800H
are the roms/kernels for them usable in U8800H?

The U8800 Pro and U8800h has a radio and I think they also have a different wifi / CPU than the non pro U8800

but my U8800H has no radio and the CPU is also 800MHz,
actually I am not sure mine is U8800H but I found the build number is U8800HV100R001HKGC104B135 which is different from normal U8800

i dont know much about U8800Pro, so i shall skip this model..
for my own U8800H, i just treat it like a normal U8800 and have flashed stock & custom roms for U8800 multiple times without problem..
(afaik, U8800 and U8800H only differ in the HSPA ability.. U8800 is HSPA while U8800H is HSPA+..)

thx, now I'm sure it is U8800H
but I have found a post that says the roms or kernels of U8800 and U8800H are not interchangeable

double-check the post then.. maybe its referring to U8800 and U8800Pro..
i can assure u that up to now i find no issue in applying U8800 stock & custom roms to my U8800H..

I've had a read through the FCC Docs (FccID QIS-U8800).
On Page 6 of "Test Report 850M" it states that the hardware for the U8800 and U8800H is the same with the exception of some settings of non volatile items which are set by software registers.
So in other words, the software is compatible, and U8800's should run HSPA+ with software mods (perhaps just running a u8800h rom).

I think there is no problem in applying U8800 roms on U8800H,I tried U8800 OXYGEN rom on my U8800H which has 800 MHz CPU and 353 mb RAM and there is no problem yet.

You'll be missing out on the HSPA+ speeds though. Have you done a bandwidth test?

Overclocking the Ideos X5

Hello everyone!
I haven't rooted/ overclocked a phone before. So I could need some help (I know the basics). I have the phone for 2months now and I'm thinking about overclocking it to 1-1.2 ghz. Is there anyway back from rooting and overclocking (becourse of the warranty...).And what's TempRoot? Will I be able to overclock it after updating it to 2.3 (becourse of the kernel)...(IF the update schould come.....who knows?)
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
1ghz is ok. that's for sure. I dont think you need higher, but if you need, just lower it after need. To remove root and OC, just install stock rom. 2.3 custom roms, yes. Official which is for u8800pro, no.
I mean the official u8800/ x5 2.3 rom that hasn't come out for now...
DobI need a custom kernel to overclock? What's temp root?
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
Yes, there is no official, but there is custom roms. I dont know what were i thinking when i wrote my answer. Yes, you need custom kernel, so custom rom does the job. Temp root lasts until restart. so when you restart your phone, you'll lose it.
But there will COME an orginal 2.3 soon™ Are there problems with custom roms?(wifi....) Is it easy to flash orginal back? Os there a kernel to overclock on orginal rom?
And thx for your answers!
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
There is always problems, but those are usually written in the post.
You can check this link. It is ultimate guide for u8800 in modaco. It includes how to return to official.
There is no kernel for original rom.
Thx for the link. What's the best ideos x5 rom? What's the most "stock android like" rom. Maybe Oxygen? Will the orginal 2.3 be installed like an custom rom? Or is it something like an update? I don't want to break/lose warranty of my phone...How can I reset to stock when the phone has an problem at booting or volume keys?
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
So the orginal kernel doesn't support overclocking? And there's no overclock kernel for the stock rom...?
Sent from my IDEOS X5 using XDA App
I have oxygen-2.3.1-u8800_r1 for over a week now.
Super Fast (It is running on 1024 Mhz) ,touchscreen reacts superfast ,no delay , no lag, ,superstable and the only problems that there are some apps that need reinstalling , like wifi-tether and google-voice and a few other I do not remember right now.
I edited the system/etc/media_profiles.xml and turned sample frequency to 30.000
and the sound with the recorded video is perfect now.
Battery life is good (altough I only switch wifi on when I need to download something because I do not have an umlimited mobile-data package)
For me , the Oxygen rom is perfect, Many thanks to the developer
Huawei Ideos X5 , with Oxygen 2.3.1 rom android 2.3.7 on 1024MHz ... Greetz from Belgium...
Whar about superboot? Is it possible to overclock after using it?(on stock rom(the Sonera one...idk what's different on it...))

At&t u8800-51?

Are there custom roms that work on this phone? Why isnt this phone in its own thread? I have spent 2 days trying to figure out what works and what doesnt. I am now at the lovely blue screen and not booting. If this phone is so different why was it not split off like the U8800 and U8800Pro?
I think the Ideos X5 is the u8800-51
Ideos x5 is u8800.

This is FALSE, Ideos X5 (u8800) is NOT the same as Impulse 4G (u8800-51), and is Impulse 4G is also NOT the Pro model (u8800H), they are different hardwares. Read all the pages of this thread (there aren't too many to read and are as recent as March 2012):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1296485
At present there is no confirmed, fully-functional Gingerbread ROM for the Impulse 4G (u8800-51). Not even from Huawei. You are safer just leaving it stock with Froyo until someone gets off their butt and finishes the work on the Gingerbread port.
If this were a Samsung or HTC device it would have already been done a week after u8800-51 hit the markets. :/

Ideos x5 = u8800
Ideos x5 pro = u8800pro
Impulse 4g = u8800-51
u8800H = u8800 with different HW version.

hello,
I have an AT&T impulse 4g myself and no, there are no roms at the moment.
However, that being said, check out this excellent solution by skipped:

This will make the guts of your At&t phone into a u8800pro, just be sure to follow the guide to the letter, then you too can experience the joy of flashing roms!

[Q] SIM unlock

Hi all,
How can I get the SIM to be unlock in Froyo. I am using a different operator from the one I bought the phone from, and until now I can only unlock it by using B517, but I have to stick with all kernel .35 Roms, and I really want to use .32 as well. Is there any firmware available so that I can have my phone unlock while in .32 kernel ROM?

I have flashed my phone probably one hundred times till today without any issues, but I will keep an eye on the different models...
My problem now is that I want to revert to .32 kernel and I can´t because I cannot find any firmare that would unlock my phone in .32 kernel. At the moment it is unlocked and available to all network operators sim cards in .35 kernel. Is there a firmware to do the same in .32 kernel (froyo)

JellyX designed for CM10 Quarx's, didn't you get any error from that?
Anyway if you get JellyX to work on CM9, then you're using Epsilon's CM9 2ndboot right? That rom should have 4 steps CPU already.
You just need to check in Bootmenu> CPU settings since any cpu apps won't work on 2ndboot kernel!
---------- Post added at 06:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:45 PM ----------
And other thing, you should only ask all question in one tread, no need to start a new tread every single questions like this...
Yes.I have CM9 Epsilon.how to check the CPU steps in bootmenu?

Boot into Bootmenu then get into CPU settings, you'll see a long list of CPU states.
[Scaling] is the "CPU Governor" we talked about before, Clk1 - Clk4 are CPU steps you're looking for.
It should be;
Clk1 - 300
Clk2 - 600
Clk3 - 800
Clk4 - 1000
Those steps also co-respond with Vsel1 - Vsel4 to control how much voltage it takes each steps.
Look for a tread about Overclocking/Undervolting Defy in this Forum for more info, mate.
---------- Post added at 12:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:16 AM ----------
As a foot note, do not change them if you don't really know what you're doing...
But I have only *Clk1 *Clk2 *Clk3 in bootmenu...Maybe the rom isn't the from what I looking for..give me the link please with CM9 who have 4step instead of 3.

4.1.2 CM10 quarx's

or 2.3.6 MS2Ginger (without Greenbread patch)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
Those two have 4 steps CPU.
If you plan to go from CM9/10 to older roms don't forget to read about "Format system partition into EXT3" beforehand.
Thank you so much!! I put the cm10 to download..I search "format system partition into ext3. But I didn't find anything. Can you show me where is that?
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium
What the **** dude?I flash cm10 and I have 3steps cpu,same problem.whyyy?
Don't really know anymore, but one last thing I can think off...What camera did you have again?
Soc or Bayer? Not just the color of the lens.
If you have Soc...that's maybe the reason.
About EXT3, do more simple search man, just "format ext3" like that.
---------- Post added at 08:17 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:07 AM ----------
My defy have Bayer lens, I'll get cpu 4 steps when using GB kernel or Custom kernel.
But Soc can't use GB kernel, it need Froyo kernel for camera to work.
So I'm not sure about Soc using Custom kernel but look at you I'm guessing now.
You may have Soc lens, and you need to live with 3 steps cpu so just don't think of it as problem anymore.
Man,thanks for all information.Another person gave me CM9 defy+.It's super.I don't need to flash another kernel,that already had one.+ that I have 4 steps.Yuhuu.:d so,thanks a lot for the lost time with me.Good luck!
