[BOUNTY] Ice Cream Sandwitch on captivate. - Captivate Android Development

To the first person to develop ice cream sandwich on the captivate:
I'll give 20$ for a proof of concept.
I'll give 40$ if it has hardware acceleration, gps, 3g and wifi.
Who else will pitch in? I'll try to update this thread to keep track of the total bounty. I think getting this up and running on the cappy is important as it's a major update for android with some very nice features.

CyanogenMod has got our back, as soon as source is released. Just donate to them.
I am not amused with your phones performance

Well they will have more incentive to work on it then.

Chances are the "I am not amused by your phones performance" is just his signature.

is 'ice cream sandwitch' Halloween themed?

Doesn't belong in development and really has no point. Thread closed.

Ice Cream Sandwich Leaks on Galaxy S!

ICS is expected to hit devices officially sometime in Q4 2011. However, today we found something that made our jaws drop.
I don’t know how stable this is, or if was even supposed to be out. The fact remains that I found this.
I stumbled upon an Ice Cream Sandwich leak on the popular Samsung Galaxy S.
So, without further ado, feast your eyes:
Taken from my post here: http://zomgitscj.com/2011/05/12/ice-cream-sandwich-leaks-on-galaxy-s/
Did I take your breath away for that one second where you hoped it was true?
Saw this coming from a mile away. Been punked before with this one!
Did make me chuckle though
Looks more practical than the Honeycomb leaks a while back.
I'm lovin' it. chuckles all the way
Tricky will have it in the beta kitchen this weekend.
hahahahaha
Seems to be quite stable but I have some concerns in the long run.
But what about battery consumption? It will get messy if the battery overheats.
@snapper.fishes Yes temperature management won't be too easy. But then again, its a very early beta
Sick joke...
Was too obvious but still made me laugh.
dont you have anything to do?
seriously....

The ice cream sandwich isn't 'leaking' in your photo. Next time wait for the ice cream to melt a bit and run over the screen... then it'll be an ice cream sandwich leak. Poor execution.

[Q] Ice Cream Sandwich Development???

By the time ice cream sandwich is out do any of you think that the nook will still stand strong and get a stable rom of it since it will be open source(at least thats what i heard)?
I really want to know because if i bought one i want developers to still be active by the end of the year at least. But hey look at the g2 been out for 2 years and still developers i think^_^ but of course it was the first android device to be out on the market...
Probably. I don't have one but judging by all the ports (honeycomb gingerbread etc) i think it should be fine
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA Premium App
Since the Nook is supported by a large known custom ROM like Cyanogenmod, I would say it is safe to assume the Nook will be getting a couple Android iterations.

is their any more comments? i would like to have some more opinions
I honestly doubt the NC will ever have a stable HC port.
I think the sooner ICS comes out, the better for us, the later, the worse for us.
well, I think the main thing that will kill our NC is a hardware upgrade from B&N.
NC2, then we'll all have to run out and buy a new one

ummmmm ok then
.......BUMP!
Why the bump? Didn't this thread give an answer?
I have read on the forum that CM7 developer dalingrin plans to keep his Nook Color till quad core tablets come. None of the rest have announced plans, but the activity is so high that it would be strange if the development community left in six months.
With that said, this is CM- there is no promises. We will know the answer only in the winter.
Correct me if I'm mistaken but I believe quad core is coming out in the 4th Quarter, as well as Ice Cream. As well as Amazon's Quad Tablet
My *plan* is to keep the Nook Color going until I get a tablet that comes with ICS this fall/winter. I'm not sure if I'll keep maintaining CM7/8 beyond that point. I'm sure someone else will step up if needed.
I can't speak for the other Cyanogenmod Nook developers but I have a feeling they will likely do the same.
Most likely I will at least get the port to ICS complete before I move on but no promises.

Take a look at the phone developers...they are still developing ports of OS's and apps that the original phone was discontinued by the companies...and they are still kicking some major ass..how old is the nook...it really is not that old and look at our options currently...both android...time will go on and different systems will come with the nook..and let's say all development did stop right now in the software world..the nook is still one versatile little piece of hardware..and can last a good time longer..we have ice cream coming in the future along with the intercourse of honeycomb and phone android.......development will continue for a while because we have talented developers here and they love this device..dalingrin and madcat and others that have not even come forward yet.

Acer Iconia Tab A500 and A100 Getting Scoops of Ice Cream Sandwich in January 2012?

Ice Cream Sandwich, sounds delicious right? It most certainly is, and it’s looking like another tablet maker is eager to hop on the bandwagon, and provide its user base with the latest version of Android.
With so many Android users chomping at the bit to know whether their device(s) will be receiving said update, it really couldn’t come at a better time. In the world of Android, the companies that act fastest to provide their customers with timely updates are typically those that earn not only the greatest amount of good will, but also the greatest amount of customers.
While this is unconfirmed at this point at time, we have faith. Thanks to the kind folks at Tablet-online.pl, we have received word that the Acer Iconia Tab A100/A101 and the A500/A501 will all get the upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich sometime in mid January, 2012. This would put it in line with the updates coming for the Motorola Xoom, the Asus Transformer, and others that we are hearing about at this monent.
Android product manager, Gabe Cohen, has said that any tablet running Honeycomb should, in theory, be able to run Ice Cream Sandwich. The underlying code between Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich is nowhere the leap that is the code from Android 2.3 Gingerbread to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. How quickly said updates will come ultimately depends on whether the device is running a custom UI or not.
We’ll keep you posted! Any thoughts on this, Iconia Tab owners?

Atrix ICS

I know its early but has anyone heard anything about getting an official ICS on the Atrix?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
not as of yet but there's an awesone ICS theme on the market that works perfectly over CM ¬B^¬N.
This was discussed in depth in several different threads go here http://www.motorola.com/blog/2011/10/24/ice-cream-and-bootloaders-and-motorola-–-oh-my/. Most likely it will not recieve ics but click the link and keep checking it. Or if u dont feel like clicking it heres what it says.. A note about Ice Cream Sandwich: We are planning to upgrade DROID RAZR™ by Motorola, Motorola RAZR™, Motorola XOOM™ and DROID BIONIC™ by Motorola to Ice Cream Sandwich. We will provide more precise guidance on timing after post-public push of Ice Cream Sandwich by Google, as well as any possible additions to this list of devices
I dont understand why the atrix shouldnt get the 4.0 update when we have great top shelf specs but i bet the sensation will get it and we have the same processor speed but the atrix has more ram so were more then capable of running 4.0 but i guess because the atrix 2 is out thats a shame will we get it with cyanogen tho?
Yes we will get it with cm9 its an officially cyanogenmod supported device but the atrix 2 kay not even get it. But both might as well not anytime soon though. They want too release new devices with ics so people will buy them and they make more money. They dont make money updating current phones too ics
Still no GB here in UK & I doubt it ever will - So no chance ICS.
Motorola are too lazy & want you to buy a new phone with each software update - So I am gonna do that - I'm getting the Galaxy Nexus. Stuff moto
I don't think most of us are too concerned about an "official" ICS from Moto..but rather getting a port of some sort.
1. Wrong section.
2. There are many threads about this already.
3. Please view motorola's official website about upgrades for future reference.
4. Motorola only stated that 4 devices, excluding Atrix 4G and Atrix 2 will get ICS but did also mentioned that it is possible that other devices MIGHT be added to this list.
5. CM9 can get us a port but the drivers will not be optimized for ICS as Motorola has to optimize them for ICE first. Therefore, even if we get a ported version it won't work at it's full potential.
6. Please close this thread.
7. Happy Halloween.

Show me where youd seen that. My friend from google told me nvidia doesnt want to release ICS source to tegra2, we may have ICS, but only after all the OMAP phones have ICS already, too much mess to motorola to be they priority for now.
Im other words, IF we get ICS, will be only in 6 months or more

Dual core tegra 2 device getting ICS

LG just "confirmed" the optimus 2x, the first dual core phone of the world is getting the update.

LG Optimus 2X indeed is the world’s first dual-core smartphone (both announced and released). This achievement was acknowledged by the Guinness World Records – the Optimus 2X is the first dual-core phone available to the public.

Do you have a link that says atrix isn't being updated, or is this just because they haven't said?

Ah yes, so they never said Atrix wouldn't get ICS, they just didn't include it in their list of devices, which (not so coincidentally) only refers to Verizon products. They probably haven't worked it out with the other providers yet, or more likely Verizon is being given a market headstart. If Motorola will not provide ICS for a phone, they will more than likely come out and say it.
Check out https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades
You will see phones definately not getting upgraded say so (i.e. CHARM MB502
Will remain on Android 2.1)
Per Motorola's own list posted above, seems Gingerbread is still being rolled out for the Atrix in Latin America in Q4 (talk about slow).
Maybe that is why they are not announcing weather ICS is, or is not, planned yet for the Atrix? Otherwise the phone itself is more than capable of handling ICS.

i don't believe there are 2 million threads about it! and it wasn't a question, it wasn't put in the development section, it wasn't put in themes and apps. It was put in GENERAL!! get over it!!
anyhow i live in the UK and i haven't even got an official gingerbread update yet!! lol my old desire even got an official one and that phone is 18 months old now.
i do hope that we get an official release, but even if we don't there will be a cyanogen release (CM9 i believe)
FINGERS CROSSED!!
I find the topic relevant. Let's stay on topic, though.
Moto sucks! CM9 FTW!
I had a samsung Vibrant before this beast, only switched 4 days ago. And there we barely had a working GB since there was never an official release, meaning no gps drivers, video codex, crappy battery life...etc. While here I'm having all those plus much more with the 1gb ram (real multitasking for a change!). Yet now I find myself already freaking out about ICS
How addictive can Android be!!!
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
i believe we will get ICS for the Atrix...however some things to think about are: we also just got GB, its most likely that we will get it anywhere between 6 months to a year from now at least...and...
How are they going to incorporate such a HUUGGEEE software change...that being UI overhaul and the general mechanics of ICS...with Motoblur? or will they drop motoblur all together... finger crossed at dropping motoblur personaly
Since the Atrix is end-of-life, I doubt we'll see such a major upgrade as ICS. Our best bet for the first ICS port will be CM9.
I would expect an ICS update from the manufacturer when the Mariners win a World Series.
Give up hope for Motorola to provide an official update to ICS, but keep hope for CM9, which is basically a guarentee
