wifi download speed - Atrix 4G General

guys need some help.
I just upgraded from the milestone 2 to the atrix 4g. On the milestone i used to get full download speed from my broadband (wifi) about 12meg.
On the atrix im getting about 250k. Whats ahappening? I know the atrix has 14.4 meg modem. Is there a setting i need to change?

OK just downloaded the speedtest.net application and I'm getting full up and download speed in that but when downloading via the browser or the market it is just horribly slow.

In Froyo download speed of Android Market was pretty slow. Update to Gingerbread and the new market for better speeds
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk

Did you buy the Atrix from a private party or from the store. If you got it from the store you should be on the current GB update. Market Could be slow because of network traffic. Also browser DL could be dependent on the website you are downloading from as well and network traffic.

To be honest I think the version is pretty old. The I can see the android version but it es say system version is 2.2.2 and when I use the motorola update program it won't find any updates regarding me reason. Even created a motoblur account and searched for updates and that won't find anything.

I am not sure which version of Atrix do u own (AT&T or Intl. ). Look for the pudding sbf in stickies in the dev thread. If u r OK with flashing and other such activities u can unlock ur device, and choose to install motoblur with GB 2.3.5 or u can even install CM7.

UK tmobile version. Yeah I'm looking to put cm7 but just waiting for the fingerprint fix. I love cm7!! I didn't realise there is uk unlocked sbf will have a look.
Will post back with results.

Ok can someone please link to me to correct post? I have tried 3 different sbf's now and all have failed.
This is what i currently have:
Phone is rooted
locked to uk tmobile (im not too bothered about unlocking really, just want latest, nice to use firmware/rom)
system version: 4.2.23.mb860.t-mobile.en.gb
firmware version: 2.2.2
baseband: n_01.92.00r
kernel: 2.6.32.9
build number: olyem_u4_2.2.3

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14984532
U needed to just look at the stickies in the development section.

Wohoo! thank you huys.
I have installed fastboot and them the recovery and then cmw v7 beta. this sorted my wifi download speed. getting full broadband speed now im so happy.
cant wait for the fingerprint to be working but thats not essential.
Im not sure about the video tho. how do i tell if its 1080? it doesnt say. it says hd(30).
PS: how rubbish is the original motorola stock rom. why do they even bother with it.

A simple tip lets you get samsung official Android 2.2 update for Samsung i9000!!!

I have got my SGS about a week. the 2.1 os gives me so many bugs, and it really slow, compare with my Desire.
So, I thought I could flash it with the rom at xda forum. But my phone couldn't go to download mode or recovery mode....
And I had bought a few paid apps and fonts from market. So, I didn't want to lose them.
Today, I wake up in the morning, and search on the samsung mobile site. I saw the update news at Hong Kong site.
it doesn't matter which site you downloaded your kies installation file from.
Here is the magical way!!:::
(before you do update, remove you sd card if you got one, just in case)
1. launch the installation file(if you have installed already, reinstall it)
2. choose the area/country-----Hong Kong
3. choose any lang you like to install
4. connect your SGS to your computer
5. once your phone connected, KIES will show a notification automatically, it says you got a firmware update.
6. follow the steps, and update..
and enjoy the official 2.2 from samsung.
BTW: my phone just finished the updating 10 mins ago..
it's much faster than 2.1, and not laggy anymore..
it's better to do updating on a 32bit windows os. I tried on my windows 7 64bit, it always shows some error msgs I don't understand.
all the apps and fonts i bought are still there. and also, the emails txt everything still there.. you dont need to do anything.
I will post my feedback with this, if you guys need any help, I will answer your questions. but I think it is very easy and simple.
The total ram on 2.2 shows 304MB.
Everything else works fine so far.

I think you could do that as well..
I tried it and it did not work for me.

The right rom only shows up based on your phones product code. otherwise you will need a registry hack.

If in Northern ireland you should have already got the froyo update on o2 if though in the south I guess that comes under a different european o2. What is your phone version number?
Emexrulsier, hi.
Am in the south of ireland where 02
are miles behind. My phone details are :
Firmware v. 2.1-update 1
Baseband v. I9000xxjf3
Kernel v. 2.6.29
Eclair
if you had any suggestions for a froyo wannabe...

Reads to me like its a new method of updating however its just the old old official method that does not work for many as Kies fails to find phone etc .
If you get Kies to work and find your phone you get the update only if your Network has uploaded the firmware .

Root AWS Dell Streak 2.2.2 FRG83G

Well, hopefully don't get yelled at but at a dead end. Have tried superoneclick, universal androot, and z4root. None work. Don't want to brick this so have not tried flashing a superboot.
Any thoughts?

I have the same aws streak came with the 2.2 build 333 or wherever you want to call it. I was able to use superoneclick, I had usb debuging on, and its the newest version of super. "But" I had to install the drivers off the dell website or it wont work. to be safe I downloaded all of them for the streak and installed them.
That might be your problem.
My build is slightly newer. gausb1a134100
Will try drivers at dell. I used the ones on the sdcard.
Update:
Tried drivers on Dell website and same thing. Fails.

Woot, finally got it. Realized the psneuter didn't work and had been trying the rage one after.
Tried it during boot with rage and that did it.
Thanks!
If you could do one more favor: could you hit the system update button in settings and post the URL it gives you? you dont need to update if you dont want, but the URL would be really helpful. I've almost got all the data I can on the aws version.

Im running streakdroid, it just tells me that I have a update for that. A few weeks ago (maybe two) I tried it and it told me I was up to date.
But now Im wondering if there is one waiting for me I might do a restore to stock and check
Awww
The issue is what would you restore stock to? If you go back to 318/319/339/340 they wont give you an update to 341. (Im not even sure if 333 can be updated to 341 since no other 3xx -> 3xx update is given for stock streaks)
There's bound to be at least a 3rd aws version (either donut or ecliar that i dont know about)
Dont bother updating your streak if you just want 341, from what i know it shouldnt work.
Mine came with 333. I sure it was upgraded to that by the seller. But I would like to know what the difference is with 341.
Externally there shouldnt be any real difference, except that 341 is Android 2.2.2 and all other 3xx builds are Android 2.2
Ok restored to stock 333. Tried update said I was good. Here's the link. http://mobileupdate.dell.com/LandingPages/Streak/Retail/uptodate/en/index.html still only 2.2.1. That sucks I want 2.2.2
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Oh you still have a copy of 333? Would it be possible for you to upload it? Its not available on the dell servers (at least not with all the other versions)
I have no Idea how to do that. I get all you would need is the rom backup file but where and how to put I have no clue.
Also I never did a backup before I set the phone up so I would have to revert back to my stock backup, do a factory reset than nandroid. I just dont want to post all my personal info from my rom dump.(gmail.passwords.....)
Side note: when I did the update check the url that first came up was diff. from the one I copied. The url that first came up had 333 somewhere in it.I do rember seeing it for a split second.
I took this off the dell website (http://mobileupdate.dell.com/PackageProductionLocations/Streak_318_12821_00.pkg ) and have been playing around with the #'s one would think that by changing the 318 & 12821 you could find the other builds but I tried 341 & build #'s (_341_14***)and I got nothing. Anything else I could try
did it look like http://mobileupdate.dell.com/?version=GAUSB1A33300 ?
I've been systematically working my way though them looking for updates. The only lastest pkgs I'm missing are the two AWS ones (333,341) and the starhub branded ones (320).
If you did have a nandroid dump of 333 just dont upload the userdata.img (this is true of nandroid in general, all your data is in userdata, the other imgs are the systemdata that only has the android files)
If it is a hassle you dont have to go though the work, what I really want is the original pkg, pkg.dec and the recovery image anyway. (that's why I asked for the update url so I could grab them myself)
If you wanna see my progress, I put everything on the wiki: link
That's a lot of info! I do think it looked like that link but I wasn't really looking I just happened to see the numbers than nothing. Where would I upload the files? Never had to upload just download.
Dropbox/filefront/rapidshare/smoke signals if you're not sure you've removed your personal data, you could password it and pm me a link.
so what you are saying is there is a version of 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 floating around for the streak?
has anyone been able to try these on the unlocked streaks preloaded with 2.2?

[Q] What should I update to?

I am in between going to GB and staying where I am at.
My issue is that I am on a version of 2.2.1 Stock that I obtained through TBH around the holidays....file was literally called "happy holidays from TBH" however, this was the 2.3.320 version of the OTA update, not the 2.3.340 version that everyone seems to have.
So the real question is, can I jump straight from 2.3.320 to GB? OR do I need to flash to 2.3.34 since when I check for OTA updates the phone tells me that I am currently up to date.
If I flash to 2.3.34, then I should probably just go straight to gingerbread rooted. However, how would I get the OTA gingerbread when it comes out? Otherwise I would be right back where I am now in about a month or so.
I need to either update to the current froyo and wait for the OTA release of GB, or update to current froyo (2.2.34) and then update again to the new rooted 2.3.3? Right? can someone confirm?
PS. I already have the 2.3.340 .sbf file (445MB) and the 2.3.3 rooted file from p3droid so I am good to go there if necessary.
if you have the 2.3.340 sbf go ahead and flash it first just to be sure...then gingerbread the whole process will only take u 30 minutes its really not that big of a deal
I might as well go ahead and update to 2.3.340 however, I am now seeing on droidxforums that there is another version of 2.3.340 called maderstcok...can't post a link but here is a partial url: droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-hacks/15666-maderstcok-ota-2-3-340-update-zip.html
The one that I have is from xda via the noobs guide (links to mydroidworld), so I trust that one more... however, this file is an update.zip, not an .sbf. So it could potentially be easier to do?
I would also like to know if it makes any difference if I use the 4.8 version of RSD lite versus 4.9
I am currently using the 4.7.1 drivers as well, pretty sure that that is right, but if there is a newer version, let me know
bump, just want a second opinion
Maderstckok will get you to where you need to be (2.3.340) I've used it 10+ times it's a great file. Then reboot, reroot, and flash GB.

Ditto - 4.8 worked like a charm.
thanks guys, downloading now and will update to 2.3.34, gonna check around for some more ideas on whether or not to go ahead and get GB or wait for the OTA...i have seen some threads with issues with wireless tether, which is one of my reasons for rooting in the first place
so far so good, rooted with z4 after updating to 2.3.34 with maderstock....awesome file, best experience yet with the clockworkmod going to stock. Will update to GB tomorrow. Some of the deodexed roms look really good!
done...on GB, added the deodexed and got the stock BWC theme which is working great. Will maybe flash more custom roms later as they become more mature for GB. otherwise, freezing bulr apps.

I think there just isn't enough demand. I technically have both devices now and I'd just says to ask the devs for help anytime a new tool or script is released.
We have enough technical guys with Bell Atrix's that most projects port over quite well now. And if there's something for the AT&T Atrix that isn't available for the Bell, I'll be sure to work with the devs and offer my expertise. After I fix this AT&T Atrix it'll be sold and the Bell one will be my primary device.

Bell does not have the download speed cap which despite me living in Canada is why I got the Bell version instead of the at&t.
The main mods that I have seen are:
Root via gladroot
Freeze bell bloat (there is a link in the at&t freezing thread to a site that has the bell "safe list")
Deodex the bell file system
Install theme (I think there is only one so far)
We now have an sbf that we can Probably flash to in case of soft bricks but I'm waiting for a bit more confirmation and feedback.

It. IS NOT a Bell SBF, it is an Australian release that seems to work on bell phones. This is all very new so I'm just patiently keeping up with the development threads. The general consensus is to wait until the new sbf is rooted so you can baƧk up the current bell version via Titanium and CWM then flash it, root, and then be able to restore the bell version if needed. We can't do this until the Aussie sbf is rooted. But it does seem, at least, to give us an option.
Hope that helps.

We already have a gingerbread theme, check the development threads. You need to deodex first, but there is no reliable way to return to the bell sbf ...yet, so you might want to wait to play it safe ... or not

You did not mention that the nandroid backup of Stock is not safe at all as you don't really know that flashing 1.4.2 modem and keeping the stock rom itself is OTA safe. A lot of people really think a Nandroid backup is a full backup but its not.. As per NFHimself: Nandroid is like backing up your "Program Files" but not all of your windows installation. Therefore once you mod, thats it.
Another thing you failed to mention is that with 1.4.2 you get GingerBlur or GreyBlur to work on your phone. and that.... is one sweet phone.
Also, 1.4.2 offers significant performance increase, I have personally noticed much better battery life and with GingerBlur/Greyblur you get SD card performance increase even further..
1.4.2 can also be applied to a big list of international models, so people from Korea, Brazil, Argentina..etc can have access to the US ATT work.
Since staying on stock and modding things is literally just as unsafe as flashing 1.4.2.. I sir, advocate people flashing and enjoying 1.4.2 to the fullest.
Sev, check the date, it was from before you found the compatibilities with with other themes

Not trying to troll, but why is it that the Motorola Droid 2 forum has a "Regular section" and a "Droid 2 Global section"?
IMO having a "Bell section" would be just as helpful...

[Q] Newb wants to install cm7.2 ....

Hello Gurus,
I have been reading up on performing ROM upgrades for the Droid2, and am almost ready to pull the trigger on CM7 for my Droid 2...
A few questions first....
I never accepted verizons upgrade from FROYO to GB, and disabled the automatic updates using Titanium Backup. My phone says "System Version is Version.2.3.20.a955.verizon.en.us" and it says "Android version is 2.2" The phone is rooted. I have installed Droid 2 bootstrap recovery and ROM manager. I have made a backup of my existing ROM. I have backed up all apps and data with Titanium.
1) Can I use the ROM Manager app to seamlessly install the CM7.2 stable release on this existing FROYO phone? I have read in a few places that you can only do so if you are already running GB, which I am not.
2) Is my current FIRMWARE version 2.3.20 (system verzion) or is it 2.2 (android version)? I am confused about the distinction.
3) Does the camera Work on CM7.2 stable with the droid 2?
4) Does Wifi tether work on CM7.2 stable with the droid 2?
Do you all think there are noticeable performance improvements, or should I be happy with my rooted froyo with everything working as is? I most highly value the wifi tether and dont want to lose camera.
Thanks for your time.
Utahrd
Hi there!
I don't know about #1, but as for the rest:
ad 2. Your current build is listed in the settings/about phone, under "Android version". Froyo is 2.2.x, GB is 2.3.x. System version should not concern you
ad 3. I belive problems happened on some occasions only on phones running nightly, but don't take my word for it and check it on cyanogen forums.
ad 4. There is no tethering in 7.2
I hope that helped.
